Qu'as-tu, ô mer, que tu t'enfuis, ô Jourdain, que tu retournes en arrière,

¿Qué tuviste, oh mar, que huiste? ¿y tú, oh Jordán, que te volviste atrás?

What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?

What was it, you sea, that you fled? You Jordan, that you turned back?
