Septante en francais
1Mon fils, si tu t'engages pour un ami, tu livres ta main à un ennemi ;
2car les lèvres de l'homme sont pour lui un filet très fort, et il est pris par les lèvres de sa propre bouche.
3Fais, ô mon fils, ce que je te recommande, et veille à te sauver ; à cause de ton ami, tu t'es mis entre les mains des méchants ; hâte-toi de t'affranchir, et stimule l'ami pour qui tu as répondu.
4N'accorde point de sommeil à tes yeux, ni d'assoupissement à tes paupières,
5pour te sauver comme un daim des filets, et comme un oiseau du piège.
6Va voir la fourmi, ô paresseux ; regarde, et sois envieux de ses voies, et deviens plus sage qu'elle.
7Car elle n'a ni laboureurs, ni maîtres, ni personne qui la contraigne.
8Cependant elle prépare l'été sa nourriture, et en fait d'abondants magasins au temps de la moisson. Ou bien encore va voir l'abeille, et apprends comme elle est industrieuse, et comme son industrie est digne de nos respects ; car les rois et les infirmes usent, pour leur santé, des fruits de son labeur. Or elle est glorieuse et désirée de tous, et, si chétive qu'elle soit, on l'honore, parce qu'elle apprécie la sagesse.
9Jusques à quand, ô paresseux, resteras-tu couché ? Quand sortiras-tu de ton sommeil ?
10Tu dors un moment, un moment tu t'assieds, tu t'assoupis un peu, tu te tiens un moment les bras croisés,
11et cependant arrive sur toi la pauvreté comme un dangereux voyageur, et le besoin comme un agile courrier. Mais si tu es actif, la moisson te viendra comme une fontaine, et l'indigence s'enfuira comme un courrier hors de service.
12L'homme insensé et pervers chemine en une voie qui n'est point bonne.
13Mais il approuve de l'œil, il fait signe du pied, il enseigne par le mouvement de ses doigts.
14Son cœur pervers pense à mal ; en tout temps un tel homme porte le trouble dans la cité.
15À cause de cela, soudain arrivera sa perte ; ce sera une chute, une ruine sans remède.
16Il se réjouit de toutes les choses que hait le Seigneur ; aussi sera-t-il brisé à cause de l'impureté de son âme.
17Son œil est superbe, sa langue inique ; sa main verse le sang du juste ;
18et son cœur roule de mauvais desseins, et ses pieds courent vers le mal.
19Témoin injuste, il fomente des faussetés, et soulève des discordes entre frères.
20Ô mon fils, garde les lois de ton père, et ne rejette pas les préceptes de ta mère.
21Tiens-les toujours attachés à ton âme ; mets-les comme un collier autour de ton cou.
22Partout où tu iras, porte-les, et qu'ils soient avec toi ; et quand tu dormiras, qu'ils te gardent, afin qu'à ton réveil ils s'entretiennent avec toi.
23Les commandements de la loi sont une lampe, une lumière ; c'est la voie de vie, c'est la correction et la discipline,
24qui te garderont de la femme mariée et des artifices de la langue étrangère.
25Que la convoitise de sa beauté ne triomphe pas de toi ; ne te laisse pas prendre par tes yeux, ni ravir par ses paupières.
26Car la courtisane ne coûte que le prix d'un pain ; la femme mariée prends les âmes des hommes qui ont tant de prix.
27Qui cachera du feu, dans son sein sans brûler sa tunique ?
28Qui marchera sur des charbons ardents sans se brûler les pieds ?
29Tel est celui qui a commerce avec la femme mariée ; il ne sera point disculpé, non plus que celui qui l'aura touchée.
30Il n'est pas étonnant qu'un voleur se cache dans la grange ; car il vole pour rassasier son âme affamée ;
31et s'il est pris, il rendra au centuple ; et, dût-il donner tout ce qu'il possède, il se sauvera lui-même
32mais l'adultère, à cause de l'indigence de son cœur, a causé la perte de son âme ;
33il supportera les hontes et les douleurs, et son opprobre ne sera point effacé dans les siècles des siècles.
34Car l'âme de l'époux est pleine de jalousie ; il ne l'épargnera pas le jour du jugement.
35Nul, au prix d'une rançon, n'éteindra sa haine, et il n'est point de dons si nombreux qui puissent l'apaiser.

1HIJO mío, si salieres fiador por tu amigo, si tocaste tu mano por el extraño,
2Enlazado eres con las palabras de tu boca, y preso con las razones de tu boca.
3Haz esto ahora, hijo mío, y líbrate, ya que has caído en la mano de tu prójimo: ve, humíllate, y asegúrate de tu amigo.
4No des sueño á tus ojos, ni á tus párpados adormecimiento.
5Escápate como el corzo de la mano del cazador, y como el ave de la mano del parancero.
6Ve á la hormiga, oh perezoso, mira sus caminos, y sé sabio;
7La cual no teniendo capitán, ni gobernador, ni señor,
8Prepara en el verano su comida y allega en el tiempo de la siega su mantenimiento.
9Perezoso, ¿hasta cuándo has de dormir? ¿cuándo te levantarás de tu sueño?
10Un poco de sueño, un poco de dormitar, y cruzar por un poco las manos para reposo:
11Así vendrá tu necesidad como caminante, y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.
12El hombre malo, el hombre depravado, anda en perversidad de boca;
13Guiña de sus ojos, habla con sus pies, indica con sus dedos;
14Perversidades hay en su corazón, anda pensando mal en todo tiempo; enciende rencillas.
15Por tanto su calamidad vendrá de repente; súbitamente será quebrantado, y no habrá remedio.
16Seis cosas aborrece Jehová, y aun siete abomina su alma:
17Los ojos altivos, la lengua mentirosa, las manos derramadoras de sangre inocente,
18El corazón que maquina pensamientos inicuos, los pies presurosos para correr al mal,
19El testigo falso que habla mentiras, y el que enciende rencillas entre los hermanos.
20Guarda, hijo mío, el mandamiento de tu padre, y no dejes la enseñanza de tu madre:
21Atalos siempre en tu corazón, enlázalos á tu cuello.
22Te guiarán cuando anduvieres; cuando durmieres te guardarán; hablarán contigo cuando despertares.
23Porque el mandamiento es antorcha, y la enseñanza luz; y camino de vida las reprensiones de la enseñanza:
24Para que te guarden de la mala mujer, de la blandura de la lengua de la extraña.
25No codicies su hermosura en tu corazón, ni ella te prenda con sus ojos:
26Porque á causa de la mujer ramera es reducido el hombre á un bocado de pan; y la mujer caza la preciosa alma del varón.
27¿Tomará el hombre fuego en su seno, sin que sus vestidos se quemen?
28¿Andará el hombre sobre las brasas, sin que sus pies se abrasen?
29Así el que entrare á la mujer de su prójimo; no será sin culpa cualquiera que la tocare.
30No tienen en poco al ladrón, cuando hurtare para saciar su alma teniendo hambre:
31Empero tomado, paga las setenas, da toda la sustancia de su casa.
32Mas el que comete adulterio con la mujer, es falto de entendimiento: corrompe su alma el que tal hace.
33Plaga y vergüenza hallará; y su afrenta nunca será raída.
34Porque los celos son el furor del hombre, y no perdonará en el día de la venganza.
35No tendrá respeto á ninguna redención; ni querrá perdonar, aunque multipliques los dones.

1My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
2Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
3Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
4Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
5Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
7Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
12A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
13He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
14Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
15Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
16These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
20My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
21Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
22When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
26For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
27Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
29So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
30Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
31But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
32But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
33A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
35He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

1My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, if you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger,
2you are trapped by the words of your mouth; you are ensnared with the words of your mouth.
3Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, since you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself. Press your plea with your neighbor.
4Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids.
5Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.
6Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise;
7which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
8provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.
9How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?
10A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep—
11so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man.
12A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth,
13who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers,
14in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord.
15Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy.
16There are six things which the LORD hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:
17arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,
18a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief,
19a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.

26For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
27Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?
28Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.
30Men don’t despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry,
31but if he is found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.
32He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
33He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.
34For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won’t spare in the day of vengeance.
