1Le vin est un moqueur et la bière un bagarreur. Celui qui se laisse égarer par eux n'est pas sage.
2La terreur d'un roi est comme le rugissement d'un lion. Celui qui le provoque à la colère perd sa propre vie.
3C'est un honneur pour un homme de se tenir à l'écart des querelles, mais tous les fous se disputeront.
4Le paresseux ne laboure pas à cause de l'hiver ; c'est pourquoi il mendiera dans la moisson, et n'aura rien.
5Le conseil dans le cœur de l'homme est comme une eau profonde, mais un homme compréhensif l'extraira.
6Beaucoup d'hommes prétendent être des hommes d'amour indéfectible, mais qui peut trouver un homme fidèle ?
7L'homme juste marche dans l'intégrité. Bénis soient ses enfants après lui.
8Un roi qui s'assied sur le trône du jugement disperse tout le mal avec ses yeux.
9Qui peut dire : « J'ai rendu mon cœur pur. Je suis propre et sans péché ? »
10Des poids et des mesures différents, tous deux sont une abomination pour Yahvé.
11Même un enfant se fait connaître par ses actions, si son travail est pur, et s'il est juste.
12L'oreille qui entend, et l'œil qui voit, Yahvé les a égalisés tous les deux.
13N'aime pas le sommeil, de peur que tu ne deviennes pauvre. Ouvrez vos yeux, et vous serez rassasiés de pain.
14« Ce n'est pas bon, ce n'est pas bon », dit l'acheteur ; mais quand il est parti de son côté, alors il se vante.
15Il y a de l'or et des rubis en abondance, mais les lèvres de la connaissance sont un joyau rare.
16Prends le vêtement de celui qui se porte garant pour un étranger ; et le garder en gage pour une femme volage.
17La nourriture frauduleuse est douce pour un homme, mais après, sa bouche est remplie de gravier.
18Les plans sont établis par des conseils ; par des conseils avisés, vous faites la guerre !
19Celui qui se promène comme un conteur révèle des secrets ; ne fréquente donc pas celui qui ouvre grand ses lèvres.
20Quiconque maudit son père ou sa mère, sa lampe s'éteindra dans l'obscurité des ténèbres.
21Un héritage rapidement acquis au début ne seront pas bénis à la fin.
22Ne dites pas : « Je rembourserai le mal. » Attendez Yahvé, et il vous sauvera.
23Yahvé déteste les poids différents, et les balances malhonnêtes ne sont pas agréables.
24Les pas de l'homme viennent de Yahvé ; comment alors l'homme peut-il comprendre son chemin ?
25C'est un piège pour l'homme que de faire un dévouement irréfléchi, puis plus tard pour considérer ses vœux.
26Un roi sage vanne les méchants, et fait passer la roue de battage dessus.
27L'esprit de l'homme est la lampe de Yahvé, en fouillant toutes ses parties les plus intimes.
28L'amour et la fidélité protègent le roi. Son trône est soutenu par l'amour.
29La gloire des jeunes hommes, c'est leur force. La splendeur des vieillards, ce sont leurs cheveux gris.
30Les coups qui blessent nettoient le mal, et les coups purgent les parties les plus intimes.

1EL vino es escarnecedor, la cerveza alborotadora; y cualquiera que por ello errare, no será sabio.
2Como bramido de cachorro de león es el terror del rey: el que lo hace enfurecerse, peca contra su alma.
3Honra es del hombre dejarse de contienda: mas todo insensato se envolverá en ella.
4El perezoso no ara á causa del invierno; pedirá pues en la siega, y no hallará.
5Como aguas profundas es el consejo en el corazón del hombre: mas el hombre entendido lo alcanzará.
6Muchos hombres publican cada uno su liberalidad: mas hombre de verdad, ¿quién lo hallará?
7El justo que camina en su integridad, bienaventurados serán sus hijos después de él.
8El rey que se sienta en el trono de juicio, con su mirar disipa todo mal.
9¿Quién podrá decir: Yo he limpiado mi corazón, limpio estoy de mi pecado?
10Doble pesa y doble medida, abominación son á Jehová ambas cosas.
11Aun el muchacho es conocido por sus hechos, si su obra fuere limpia y recta.
12El oído que oye, y el ojo que ve, ambas cosas ha igualmente hecho Jehová.
13No ames el sueño, porque no te empobrezcas; abre tus ojos, y te hartarás de pan.
14El que compra dice: malo es, malo es: mas en apartándose, se alaba.
15Hay oro y multitud de piedras preciosas: mas los labios sabios son vaso precioso.
16Quítale su ropa al que salió por fiador del extraño; y tómale prenda al que fía la extraña.
17Sabroso es al hombre el pan de mentira; mas después su boca será llena de cascajo.
18Los pensamientos con el consejo se ordenan: y con industria se hace la guerra.
19El que descubre el secreto, en chismes anda: no te entrometas, pues, con el que lisonjea con sus labios.
20El que maldice á su padre ó á su madre, su lámpara será apagada en oscuridad tenebrosa.
21La herencia adquirida de priesa al principio, aun su postrimería no será bendita.
22No digas, yo me vengaré; espera á Jehová, y él te salvará.
23Abominación son á Jehová las pesas dobles; y el peso falso no es bueno.
24De Jehová son los pasos del hombre: ¿cómo pues entenderá el hombre su camino?
25Lazo es al hombre el devorar lo santo, y andar pesquisando después de los votos.
26El rey sabio esparce los impíos, y sobre ellos hace tornar la rueda.
27Candela de Jehová es el alma del hombre, que escudriña lo secreto del vientre.
28Misericordia y verdad guardan al rey; y con clemencia sustenta su trono.
29La gloria de los jóvenes es su fortaleza, y la hermosura de los viejos la vejez.
30Las señales de las heridas son medicina para lo malo: y las llagas llegan á lo más secreto del vientre.

1Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
2The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.
3It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
4The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
7The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
8A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
9Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
10Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.
11Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
12The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
13Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

18Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
19He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
20Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
21An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
22Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
23Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
24Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
25It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.
26A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.
27The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
28Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.
29The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.
30The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

2The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
3It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.

6Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful man?
7A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.

10Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.

25It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.
26A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them.
27The spirit of man is the LORD’s lamp, searching all his innermost parts.
28Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.
29The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts.
