2Und der Herr redete mit Mose und sprach:
3Sende Männer aus, das Land Kanaan auszukundschaften, das ich den Israeliten geben will; je einen Mann aus jedem Stamme sollst du schicken, lauter solche, die Fürsten unter ihnen sind. (a) 5Mo 1:22
4Und Mose entsandte sie aus der Wüste Paran, nach dem Befehl des Herrn, lauter Männer, die Häupter der Israeliten waren.
5Und dies sind ihre Namen: Sammua, der Sohn Sakkurs, vom Stamme Ruben;
6Saphat, der Sohn Horis, vom Stamme Simeon;
7Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnes, vom Stamme Juda;
8Jigeal, der Sohn Josephs, vom Stamme Issaschar;
9Hosea, der Sohn Nuns, vom Stamme Ephraim;
10Palti, der Sohn Raphus, vom Stamme Benjamin;
11Gaddiel, der Sohn Sodis, vom Stamme Sebulon;
12Gaddi, der Sohn Susis, vom Stamme Joseph, vom Stamme Manasse;
13Ammiel, der Sohn Gemallis, vom Stamme Dan;
14Sethur, der Sohn Michaels, vom Stamme Asser;
15Nahbi, der Sohn Wophsis, vom Stamme Naphthali;
16Gehuel, der Sohn Machis, vom Stamme Gad.
17Das sind die Namen der Männer, die Mose aussandte, das Land auszukundschaften. Hosea aber, dem Sohne Nuns, gab Mose den Namen Josua.
18Als nun Mose sie aussandte, das Land Kanaan auszukundschaften, sprach er zu ihnen: Zieht hier hinauf in das Südland und steigt auf das Gebirge;
19seht, was es für ein Land ist und ob das Volk, das darin wohnt, stark oder schwach, klein oder gross ist,
20wie das Land beschaffen ist, in dem sie wohnen, ob gut oder schlecht, und was für Städte es sind, in denen sie wohnen, ob offene Orte oder Festungen,
21wie der Boden ist, ob fett oder mager, und ob Bäume daselbst wachsen oder nicht. Haltet euch tapfer und bringt von den Früchten des Landes mit. Es war aber gerade die Zeit der ersten Trauben.
22Da zogen sie hinauf und kundschafteten das Land aus, von der Wüste Zin bis nach Rehob, wo man nach Hamath geht.
23Sie zogen hinauf in das Südland und kamen bis nach Hebron; da wohnten Ahiman, Sesai und Thalmai, die Enakskinder. Hebron aber war sieben Jahre früher erbaut worden als Zoan in Ägypten. (a) Jos 15:14
24Dann kamen sie ins Tal Eskol und schnitten daselbst eine Rebe mit einer Weintraube ab und trugen sie zu zweit an einer Stange, auch einige Granatäpfel und Feigen.
25Den Ort nennt man Tal Eskol wegen der Weintraube, welche die Israeliten dort abgeschnitten haben. (1) d.i. Traubental.
26Nach vierzig Tagen aber, als sie das Land ausgekundschaftet hatten, kehrten sie um,
27und sie wanderten und kamen zu Mose und Aaron und zu der ganzen Gemeinde der Israeliten in die Wüste Paran, nach Kades; und sie brachten ihnen und der ganzen Gemeinde Bericht und zeigten ihnen die Früchte des Landes.
28Und sie erzählten Mose und sprachen: Wir sind in das Land gekommen, in das du uns gesandt hast. Wohl fliesst es von Milch und Honig, und dies sind seine Früchte; (a) 2Mo 3:8 17
29aber das Volk, das darin wohnt, ist stark, und die Städte sind sehr fest und gross. Auch die Enakskinder haben wir daselbst gesehen. (a) 5Mo 9:1 2
30Die Amalekiter bewohnen das Gebiet des Südlands; die Hethiter, Jebusiter und Amoriter wohnen auf dem Gebirge, und die Kanaaniter wohnen am Meer und am Ufer des Jordan.
31Kaleb aber beschwichtigte das Murren des Volkes wider Mose und sprach: Lasst uns gleichwohl hinaufziehen und das Land erobern; wir vermögen es gewiss zu überwältigen.
32Aber die Männer, die mit ihm hinaufgezogen waren, sprachen: Wir können nicht gegen dieses Volk ziehen; es ist uns zu stark.
33Und sie berichteten den Israeliten schlimme Dinge von dem Lande, das sie ausgekundschaftet hatten, und sprachen: Das Land, das wir durchzogen haben, um es auszukundschaften, verzehrt seine Bewohner, und das ganze Volk, das wir darin sahen, besteht aus hochgewachsenen Leuten. Wir sahen dort auch die Riesen, die Enakiter aus dem Riesengeschlecht, und wir kamen uns vor wie Heuschrecken, und so erschienen wir auch ihnen.

2Y Jehová habló á Moisés, diciendo:
3Envía tú hombres que reconozcan la tierra de Canaán, la cual yo doy á los hijos de Israel: de cada tribu de sus padres enviaréis un varón, cada uno príncipe entre ellos.
4Y Moisés los envió desde el desierto de Parán, conforme á la palabra de Jehová: y todos aquellos varones eran príncipes de los hijos de Israel.
5Los nombres de los cuales son éstos: De la tribu de Rubén, Sammua hijo de Zaccur.
6De la tribu de Simeón, Saphat hijo de Hurí.
7De la tribu de Judá, Caleb hijo de Jephone.

17Estos son los nombres de los varones que Moisés envió á reconocer la tierra: y á Oseas hijo de Nun, le puso Moisés el nombre de Josué.
18Enviólos, pues, Moisés á reconocer la tierra de Canaán, diciéndoles: Subid por aquí, por el mediodía, y subid al monte:
19Y observad la tierra qué tal es; y el pueblo que la habita, si es fuerte ó débil, si poco ó numeroso;
20Qué tal la tierra habitada, si es buena ó mala; y qué tales son las ciudades habitadas, si de tiendas ó de fortalezas;
21Y cuál sea el terreno, si es pingüe ó flaco, si en él hay ó no árboles: y esforzaos, y coged del fruto del país. Y el tiempo era el tiempo de las primeras uvas.
22Y ellos subieron, y reconocieron la tierra desde el desierto de Zin hasta Rehob, entrando en Emath.
23Y subieron por el mediodía, y vinieron hasta Hebrón: y allí estaban Aimán, y Sesai, y Talmai, hijos de Anac. Hebrón fué edificada siete años antes de Zoán, la de Egipto.
24Y llegaron hasta el arroyo de Escol, y de allí cortaron un sarmiento con un racimo de uvas, el cual trajeron dos en un palo, y de las granadas y de los higos.
25Y llamóse aquel lugar Nahal-escol, por el racimo que cortaron de allí los hijos de Israel.
26Y volvieron de reconocer la tierra al cabo de cuarenta días.
27Y anduvieron y vinieron á Moisés y á Aarón, y á toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, en el desierto de Parán, en Cades, y diéronles la respuesta, y á toda la congregación, y les mostraron el fruto de la tierra.
28Y le contaron, y dijeron: Nosotros llegamos á la tierra á la cual nos enviaste, la que ciertamente fluye leche y miel; y este es el fruto de ella.
29Mas el pueblo que habita aquella tierra es fuerte, y las ciudades muy grandes y fuertes; y también vimos allí los hijos de Anac.
30Amalec habita la tierra del mediodía; y el Hetheo, y el Jebuseo, y el Amorrheo, habitan en el monte; y el Cananeo habita junto á la mar, y á la ribera del Jordán.
31Entonces Caleb hizo callar el pueblo delante de Moisés, y dijo: Subamos luego, y poseámosla; que más podremos que ella.
32Mas los varones que subieron con él, dijeron: No podremos subir contra aquel pueblo; porque es más fuerte que nosotros.
33Y vituperaron entre los hijos de Israel la tierra que habían reconocido, diciendo: La tierra por donde pasamos para reconocerla, es tierra que traga á sus moradores; y todo el pueblo que vimos en medio de ella, son hombres de grande estatura. También vimos allí gigantes, hijos de Anac, raza de los gigantes: y éramos nosotros, á nuestro parecer, como langostas; y así les parecíamos á ellos.

1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
3And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.
4And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.
5Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.
6Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
7Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.
8Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.
9Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.
10Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.
11Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

17And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
18And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
19And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
20And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.
21So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.
22And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
23And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
24The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.
25And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.
26And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.
27And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
28Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
29The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
30And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
32And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

1The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2“Send men, that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel. Of every tribe of their fathers, you shall send a man, every one a prince among them.”
3Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of the LORD. All of them were men who were heads of the children of Israel.
4These were their names: Of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

19and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in camps, or in strongholds;
20and what the land is, whether it is fertile or poor, whether there is wood therein, or not. Be courageous, and bring some of the fruit of the land.” Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes.
21So they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, to the entrance of Hamath.
22They went up by the South, and came to Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
23They came to the valley of Eshcol, and cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it on a staff between two. They also brought some of the pomegranates and figs.
24That place was called the valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the children of Israel cut down from there.
25They returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.
26They went and came to Moses, to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them and to all the congregation. They showed them the fruit of the land.
27They told him, and said, “We came to the land where you sent us. Surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.
28However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the children of Anak there.
29Amalek dwells in the land of the South. The Hittite, the Jebusite, and the Amorite dwell in the hill country. The Canaanite dwells by the sea, and along the side of the Jordan.”
30Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, “Let’s go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it!”
31But the men who went up with him said, “We aren’t able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”
32They brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the children of Israel, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up its inhabitants; and all the people who we saw in it are men of great stature.
33There we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim. We were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”
