1DAS Volk aber murrte vor den Ohren des Herrn über Not. Als der Herr dies hörte, entbrannte sein Zorn, und das Feuer des Herrn loderte auf wider sie und verzehrte das Ende des Lagers. (a) 2Mo 16:2; 3Mo 10:2; 4Mo 16:35
2Da schrie das Volk zu Mose, und Mose betete zum Herrn; da erlosch das Feuer.
3Daher nannte man jenen Ort Thabera, weil das Feuer des Herrn wider sie aufgelodert war. (1) d.i. Brandstätte.
4Das hergelaufene Volk aber, das unter ihnen war, befiel ein Gelüste. Da fingen auch die Israeliten wieder an zu wehklagen und sprachen: Hätten wir doch Fleisch zu essen! (a) 2Mo 12:38; 16:3
5Wir gedenken der Fische, die wir in Ägypten umsonst assen, der Gurken, der Melonen, des Lauchs, der Zwiebeln und des Knoblauchs.
6Und nun verschmachten wir; es ist nichts da, nichts als das Manna bekommen wir zu sehen.
7Das Manna aber war wie Koriandersamen und sah aus wie Bdellionharz. (a) 2Mo 16:14 31
8Die Leute gingen umher und lasen es auf, dann mahlten sie es in der Mühle oder zerstiessen es im Mörser, kochten es im Topf und machten Fladen daraus; es hatte dann einen Geschmack wie Ölkuchen.
9Und wenn des Nachts der Tau auf das Lager fiel, so fiel auch das Manna darauf herab.
10Als nun Mose das Volk, ein Geschlecht wie das andre, einen jeden am Eingang seines Zeltes, wehklagen hörte, da entbrannte der Zorn des Herrn gewaltig, und es verdross Mose.
11Und Mose sprach zum Herrn: Warum tust du so übel an deinem Knechte, und warum finde ich nicht Gnade vor deinen Augen, dass du mir die Last dieses ganzen Volkes auflegst?
12Habe denn ich dieses ganze Volk empfangen, oder habe ich es geboren, dass du zu mir sagst: Trage es an deinem Busen, wie die Wärterin den Säugling trägt, in das Land, das du seinen Vätern zugeschworen hast?
13Woher nehme ich Fleisch für dieses ganze Volk? Denn sie wehklagen vor mir und sprechen: Gib uns Fleisch zu essen!
14Ich vermag dieses ganze Volk nicht allein zu tragen; es ist mir zu schwer.
15Willst du so an mir handeln, so töte mich lieber, wenn ich anders Gnade vor deinen Augen gefunden habe, damit ich mein Elend nicht mehr ansehen muss.
16Da sprach der Herr zu Mose: Versammle mir aus den Ältesten Israels, von denen du weisst, dass sie die Ältesten und Amtleute des Volkes sind, siebzig Männer und bringe sie zum heiligen Zelte; dort sollen sie sich neben dir aufstellen. (a) 2Mo 24:1
17Dann will ich herabkommen und daselbst mit dir reden, und von dem Geiste, der auf dir ruht, will ich nehmen und auf sie legen, dass sie mit dir die Last des Volkes tragen und du sie nicht allein zu tragen hast.
18Zu dem Volke aber sollst du sagen: Weihet euch für morgen, ihr werdet Fleisch zu essen bekommen; denn ihr habt vor den Ohren des Herrn gejammert: "Hätten wir doch Fleisch zu essen! In Ägypten ging es uns besser!" Darum wird euch der Herr nun Fleisch zu essen geben:
19nicht nur einen Tag sollt ihr davon essen, nicht zwei, nicht fünf, nicht zehn, nicht zwanzig Tage bloss,
20sondern einen ganzen Monat lang, bis es euch zum Halse heraushängt und euch zum Ekel wird; denn ihr habt den Herrn, der mitten unter euch weilt, verworfen und habt vor ihm gejammert: "Warum sind wir doch aus Ägypten ausgezogen?" (a) 4Mo 21:5
21Da sprach Mose: 600 000 Mann zu Fuss zählt das Volk, unter dem ich lebe, und du sprichst: "Ich will ihnen Fleisch geben, dass sie einen Monat lang zu essen haben."
22Kann man so viel Schafe und Rinder für sie schlachten, dass es für sie genug ist? Oder soll man alle Fische des Meeres fangen, dass es für sie genug ist?
23Der Herr aber sprach zu Mose: Ist etwa der Arm des Herrn zu kurz? Du wirst bald sehen, ob mein Wort eintrifft oder nicht. (a) Jes 50:2; 59:1
24Darnach ging Mose hinaus und verkündete dem Volke die Worte des Herrn. Dann versammelte er siebzig Männer aus den Ältesten des Volkes und stellte sie rings um das (heilige) Zelt auf.
25Da fuhr der Herr in der Wolke herab und redete mit ihm, und nahm von dem Geiste, der auf ihm ruhte, und legte ihn auf die siebzig Ältesten; und als der Geist über sie kam, gerieten sie in Verzückung ohne Aufhören.
26Es waren aber zwei Männer im Lager zurückgeblieben; der eine hiess Eldad, der andre Modad. Auch über sie kam der Geist - denn sie waren unter den Aufgeschriebenen, waren aber nicht zum (heiligen) Zelte hinausgegangen -, und sie gerieten im Lager in Verzückung.
27Da lief ein Bursche hin und meldete Mose: Eldad und Modad sind im Lager in Verzückung.
28Und Josua, der Sohn Nuns, der schon als Jüngling Moses Diener gewesen war, hob an und sprach: O Herr, Mose, wehre ihnen! (a) 2Mo 24:13; 33:11
29Aber Mose sprach zu ihm: Willst du für mich eifern? Wollte Gott, dass alle im Volke des Herrn Propheten wären, dass der Herr seinen Geist auf sie legte!
30Dann zog sich Mose mit den Ältesten Israels ins Lager zurück.
31Es erhob sich aber ein Wind, vom Herrn gesandt, und brachte Wachteln vom Meere herüber und warf sie gegen das Lager hin, sodass sie eine Tagereise weit in jeder Richtung rings um das Lager her lagen, bei zwei Ellen hoch über dem Boden. (a) 2Mo 16:13
32Da machten sich die Leute auf und sammelten die Wachteln, jenen ganzen Tag und die ganze Nacht und den ganzen folgenden Tag. Wer auch nur wenig sammelte, der sammelte zehn Homer; und sie breiteten sie (zum Dörren) rings um das Lager her aus.
33Als sie aber das Fleisch noch unter den Zähnen hatten, noch ehe es verzehrt war, entbrannte der Zorn des Herrn wider das Volk, und der Herr schlug das Volk mit einer schrecklichen Plage.
34Daher nannte man jenen Ort "die Lustgräber", weil man dort die Leute begrub, die lüstern gewesen waren.
35Von den Lustgräbern zog das Volk weiter nach Hazeroth und blieb in Hazeroth.

1Y ACONTECIÓ que el pueblo se quejó á oídos de Jehová: y oyólo Jehová, y enardecióse su furor, y encendióse en ellos fuego de Jehová y consumió el un cabo del campo.
2Entonces el pueblo dió voces á Moisés, y Moisés oró á Jehová, y soterróse el fuego.
3Y llamó á aquel lugar Taberah; porque el fuego de Jehová se encendió en ellos.
4Y el vulgo que había en medio tuvo un vivo deseo, y volvieron, y aun lloraron los hijos de Israel, y dijeron: ¡Quién nos diera á comer carne!
5Nos acordamos del pescado que comíamos en Egipto de balde, de los cohombros, y de los melones, y de los puerros, y de las cebollas, y de los ajos:
6Y ahora nuestra alma se seca; que nada sino maná ven nuestros ojos.
7Y era el maná como semilla de culantro, y su color como color de bdelio.
8Derramábase el pueblo, y recogían, y molían en molinos, ó majaban en morteros, y lo cocían en caldera, ó hacían de él tortas: y su sabor era como sabor de aceite nuevo.
9Y cuando descendía el rocío sobre el real de noche, el maná descendía de sobre él.
10Y oyó Moisés al pueblo, que lloraba por sus familias, cada uno á la puerta de su tienda: y el furor de Jehová se encendió en gran manera; también pareció mal á Moisés.
11Y dijo Moisés á Jehová: ¿Por qué has hecho mal á tu siervo? ¿y por qué no he hallado gracia en tus ojos, que has puesto la carga de todo este pueblo sobre mí?
12¿Concebí yo á todo este pueblo? ¿engendrélo yo, para que me digas: Llévalo en tu seno, como lleva la que cría al que mama, á la tierra de la cual juraste á sus padres?
13¿De dónde tengo yo carne para dar á todo este pueblo? porque lloran á mí, diciendo: Danos carne que comamos.
14No puedo yo solo soportar á todo este pueblo, que me es pesado en demasía.
15Y si así lo haces tú conmigo, yo te ruego que me des muerte, si he hallado gracia en tus ojos; y que yo no vea mi mal.
16Entonces Jehová dijo á Moisés: Júntame setenta varones de los ancianos de Israel, que tú sabes que son ancianos del pueblo y sus principales; y tráelos á la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio, y esperen allí contigo.
17Y yo descenderé y hablaré allí contigo; y tomaré del espíritu que está en ti, y pondré en ellos; y llevarán contigo la carga del pueblo, y no la llevarás tú solo.
18Empero dirás al pueblo: Santificaos para mañana, y comeréis carne: pues que habéis llorado en oídos de Jehová, diciendo: ¡Quién nos diera á comer carne! ¡cierto mejor nos iba en Egipto! Jehová, pues, os dará carne, y comeréis.
19No comeréis un día, ni dos días, ni cinco días, ni diez días, ni veinte días;
20Sino hasta un mes de tiempo, hasta que os salga por las narices, y os sea en aborrecimiento: por cuanto menospreciasteis á Jehová que está en medio de vosotros, y llorasteis delante de él, diciendo: ¿Para qué salimos acá de Egipto?
21Entonces dijo Moisés: Seiscientos mil de á pie es el pueblo en medio del cual yo estoy; y tú dices: Les daré carne, y comerán el tiempo de un mes.
22¿Se han de degollar para ellos ovejas y bueyes que les basten? ¿ó se juntarán para ellos todos los peces de la mar para que tengan abasto?
23Entonces Jehová respondió á Moisés: ¿Hase acortado la mano de Jehová? ahora verás si te sucede mi dicho, ó no.
24Y salió Moisés, y dijo al pueblo las palabras de Jehová: y juntó los setenta varones de los ancianos del pueblo, é hízolos estar alrededor del tabernáculo.
25Entonces Jehová descendió en la nube, y hablóle; y tomó del espíritu que estaba en él, y púsolo en los setenta varones ancianos; y fué que, cuando posó sobre ellos el espíritu, profetizaron, y no cesaron.
26Y habían quedado en el campo dos varones, llamado el uno Eldad y el otro Medad, sobre los cuales también reposó el espíritu: estaban estos entre los escritos, mas no habían salido al tabernáculo; y profetizaron en el campo.
27Y corrió un mozo, y dió aviso á Moisés, y dijo: Eldad y Medad profetizan en el campo.
28Entonces respondió Josué hijo de Nun, ministro de Moisés, uno de sus mancebos, y dijo: Señor mío Moisés, impídelos.
29Y Moisés le respondió: ¿Tienes tú celos por mí? mas ojalá que todo el pueblo de Jehová fuesen profetas, que Jehová pusiera su espíritu sobre ellos.
30Y recogióse Moisés al campo, él y los ancianos de Israel.
31Y salió un viento de Jehová, y trajo codornices de la mar, y dejólas sobre el real, un día de camino de la una parte, y un día de camino de la otra, en derredor del campo, y casi dos codos sobre la haz de la tierra.
32Entonces el pueblo estuvo levantado todo aquel día, y toda la noche, y todo el día siguiente, y recogiéronse codornices: el que menos, recogió diez montones; y las tendieron para sí á lo largo en derredor del campo.
33Aun estaba la carne entre los dientes de ellos, antes que fuese mascada, cuando el furor de Jehová se encendió en el pueblo, é hirió Jehová al pueblo con una muy grande plaga.
34Y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Kibroth-hattaavah, por cuanto allí sepultaron al pueblo codicioso.
35De Kibroth-hattaavah movió el pueblo á Haseroth, y pararon en Haseroth.

1And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
2And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.
3And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.
4And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
5We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:
6But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
7And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.
8And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.
9And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.
10Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
11And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
12Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
13Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
16And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.
17And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
18And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
19Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
20But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
21And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
22Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
23And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’s hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.
24And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.
25And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.
26But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.
27And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.
28And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
29And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD’s people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!
30And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day’s journey on this side, and as it were a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
32And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.
34And he called the name of that place Kibroth-hattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.
35And the people journeyed from Kibroth-hattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
World English Bible
1The people were complaining in the ears of the LORD. When the LORD heard it, his anger burned; and the LORD’s fire burned among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.
2The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to the LORD, and the fire abated.
3The name of that place was called Taberah, because the LORD’s fire burned among them.
4The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly; and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, “Who will give us meat to eat?
5We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;
6but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”
7The manna was like coriander seed, and it looked like bdellium.
8The people went around, gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it. Its taste was like the taste of fresh oil.

13Where could I get meat to give all these people? For they weep before me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’
14I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”
16The LORD said to Moses, “Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.
17I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you don’t bear it yourself alone.
18“Say to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, and you will eat meat; for you have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat.
19You will not eat just one day, or two days, or five days, or ten days, or twenty days,
20but a whole month, until it comes out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because you have rejected the LORD who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”
21Moses said, “The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat a whole month.’
22Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”
23The LORD said to Moses, “Has the LORD’s hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not.”
24Moses went out, and told the people the LORD’s words; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.
25The LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.
26But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad; and the Spirit rested on them. They were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
27A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”
28Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “My lord Moses, forbid them!”
29Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!”
30Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31A wind from the LORD went out and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the earth.
32The people rose up all that day, and all of that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails. He who gathered least gathered ten homers; and they spread them all out for themselves around the camp.
33While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the LORD’s anger burned against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague.
34The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who lusted.
35From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth; and they stayed at Hazeroth.
