Nehemías 8

1Als aber der siebente Monat herankam, während die Israeliten in ihren Städten waren, (1) da versammelte sich das ganze Volk wie ein Mann auf den freien Platz vor dem Wasserthor. Und sie baten Esra, den Schriftgelehrten, das Buch des Gesetzes Moses herbeizubringen, welches Jahwe den Israeliten anbefohlen hatte.
2Da brachte Esra, der Priester, das Gesetz herzu vor die Versammlung, die Männer und Weiber und alle, die verständig genug waren, um zuzuhören, am ersten Tage des siebenten Monats.
3Und er las daraus vor, angesichts des freien Platzes vor dem Wasserthore, von Tagesanbruch bis zum Mittag, in Gegenwart der Männer und der Weiber und derer von den Kindern, die es verstehen konnten, indem die Ohren von ganz Israel auf das Buch des Gesetzes gerichtet waren.
4Und Esra, der Schriftgelehrte, stand auf einem hölzernen Gerüste, das sie für diesen Zweck errichtet hatten, und neben ihm standen Mattithja, Sema, Anaja, Asarja, Uria, Hilkia und Maaseja zu seiner Rechten, und zu seiner Linken Pedaja, Misaël, Malchia, Hasum, Hasbaddana, Sacharja und Mesullam.
5Und Esra schlug das Buch auf vor den Augen des ganzen Volks - denn er stand höher als das ganze Volk -, und als er es aufschlug, stand das ganze Volk auf.
6Und Esra pries Jahwe, den großen Gott, und alles Volk antwortete: Amen, Amen! während sie zugleich ihre Hände hochhoben und sich verneigten und vor Jahwe mit dem Angesichte zur Erde niederwarfen.
7Und Jesua, Bani, Serebja, Jamin, Akkub, Sabthai, Hodia, Maaseja, Kelita, Asarja, Josabad, Hanan und Pelaja, die Leviten, belehrten das Volk über das Gesetz, während die Leute auf ihrem Platze blieben.
8Und sie lasen aus dem Buche, dem Gesetze Gottes, deutlich vor und machten den Sinn klar, so daß man das Gelesene verstand.
9Und Nehemia, der Statthalter, und der Priester Esra, der Schriftgelehrte, und die Leviten, die das Volk belehrten, sprachen zu dem ganzen Volke: Der heutige Tag ist Jahwe, eurem Gott, heilig; klagt und weint nicht! Denn es weinten alle Leute, als sie die Gesetzesworte vernahmen.
10Und er sprach zu ihnen: Geht hin, eßt fette Speisen und trinkt süße Getränke und schickt Gerichte als Festgeschenke an die, für die nicht angerichtet ist; denn der heutige Tag ist unserem Herrn heilig. Darum seid nicht traurig, denn die Freude an Jahwe, die ist eure Schutzwehr!
11Zugleich beschwichtigten die Leviten das ganze Volk, indem sie sprachen: Seid still, denn dieser Tag ist heilig, darum seid nicht traurig!
12Da gingen alle Leute hin, um zu essen und zu trinken und Gerichte als Festgeschenke zu verschicken und um ein großes Freudenfest zu begehen; denn sie hatten auf das geachtet, was man sie gelehrt hatte.
13Am zweiten Tag aber versammelten sich die Familienhäupter des ganzen Volks, die Priester und die Leviten, zu Esra, dem Schriftgelehrten, und zwar um auf die Gesetzesworte acht zu haben.
14Da fanden sie geschrieben in dem Gesetze, das Jahwe durch Mose anbefohlen hatte, daß die Israeliten während des Festes im siebenten Monat in Laubhütten wohnen sollten,
15und daß sie in allen ihren Städten und zu Jerusalem folgenden Befehl ausrufen und verkündigen lassen sollten: Geht hinaus aufs Gebirge und holt euch Zweige vom Olivenbaum und Zweige vom wilden Ölbaum und Zweige von der Myrte und Zweige von Palmen und Zweige von dichtbelaubten Bäumen, um nach der Vorschrift des Gesetzes Laubhütten zu machen.
16Und das Volk ging hinaus, holte die Zweige und machte sich Laubhütten, ein jeder auf seinem Dach und in ihren Höfen und in den Höfen des Tempels Gottes und auf dem freien Platz am Wasserthor und auf dem freien Platz am Ephraimthor.
17Und die ganze Gemeinde, so viele ihrer aus der Gefangenschaft heimgekehrt waren, machte Laubhütten und wohnte in den Laubhütten. Denn die Israeliten hatten seit der Zeit Jesuas, des Sohnes Nuns, bis auf eben jenen Tag nicht also gethan, und so herrschte eine sehr große Freude.
18Und Tag für Tag las man aus dem Buche des Gesetzes Gottes vor, vom ersten Tag an bis zum letzten Tage. Und sie begingen das Fest sieben Tage lang, und am achten Tage fand der Vorschrift gemäß eine Festversammlung statt.

1Y JUNTÓSE todo el pueblo como un solo hombre en la plaza que está delante de la puerta de las Aguas, y dijeron á Esdras el escriba, que trajese el libro de la ley de Moisés, la cual mandó Jehová á Israel.
2Y Esdras el sacerdote, trajo la ley delante de la congregación, así de hombres como de mujeres, y de todo entendido para escuchar, el primer día del mes séptimo.
3Y leyó en el libro delante de la plaza que está delante de la puerta de las Aguas, desde el alba hasta el medio día, en presencia de hombres y mujeres y entendidos; y los oídos de todo el pueblo estaban atentos al libro de la ley.
4Y Esdras el escriba estaba sobre un púlpito de madera, que habían hecho para ello; y junto á él estaban Mathithías, y Sema, y Anías, y Urías, é Hilcías, y Maasías, á su mano derecha; y á su mano izquierda, Pedaía, Misael, y Malchîas, y Hasum, y Hasbedana, Zachârías, y Mesullam.
5Abrió pues Esdras el libro á ojos de todo el pueblo, (porque estaba más alto que todo el pueblo); y como lo abrió, todo el pueblo estuvo atento.
6Bendijo entonces Esdras á Jehová, Dios grande. Y todo el pueblo respondió, ¡Amén! ¡Amén! alzando sus manos; y humilláronse, y adoraron á Jehová inclinados á tierra.
7Y Jesuá, y Bani, y Serebías, Jamín, Accub, Sabethai, Odías, Maasías, Celita, Azarías, Jozabed, Hanán, Pelaía, Levitas, hacían entender al pueblo la ley: y el pueblo estaba en su lugar.
8Y leían en el libro de la ley de Dios claramente, y ponían el sentido, de modo que entendiesen la lectura.
9Y Nehemías el Tirsatha, y el sacerdote Esdras, escriba, y los Levitas que hacían entender al pueblo, dijeron á todo el pueblo: Día santo es á Jehová nuestro Dios; no os entristezcáis, ni lloréis: porque todo el pueblo lloraba oyendo las palabras de la ley.
10Díjoles luego: Id, comed grosuras, y bebed vino dulce, y enviad porciones á los que no tienen prevenido; porque día santo es á nuestro Señor: y no os entristezcáis, porque el gozo de Jehová es vuestra fortaleza.
11Los Levitas pues, hacían callar á todo el pueblo, diciendo: Callad, que es día santo, y no os entristezcáis.
12Y todo el pueblo se fué á comer y á beber, y á enviar porciones, y á gozar de grande alegría, porque habían entendido las palabras que les habían enseñado.
13Y el día siguiente se juntaron los príncipes de las familias de todo el pueblo, sacerdotes, y Levitas, á Esdras escriba, para entender las palabras de la ley.
14Y hallaron escrito en la ley que Jehová había mandado por mano de Moisés, que habitasen los hijos de Israel en cabañas en la solemnidad del mes séptimo;
15Y que hiciesen saber, y pasar pregón por todas sus ciudades y por Jerusalem, diciendo: Salid al monte, y traed ramos de oliva, y ramos de pino, y ramos de arrayán, y ramos de palmas, y ramos de todo árbol espeso, para hacer cabañas como está escrito.
16Salió pues el pueblo, y trajeron, é hiciéronse cabañas, cada uno sobre su terrado, y en sus patios, y en los patios de la casa de Dios, y en la plaza de la puerta de las Aguas, y en la plaza de la puerta de Ephraim.
17Y toda la congregación que volvió de la cautividad hicieron cabañas, y en cabañas habitaron; porque desde los días de Josué hijo de Nun hasta aquel día, no habían hecho así los hijos de Israel. Y hubo alegría muy grande.
18Y leyó Esdras en el libro de la ley de Dios cada día, desde el primer día hasta el postrero; é hicieron la solemnidad por siete días, y al octavo día congregación, según el rito.

1And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
3And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
4And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
6And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
7Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
8So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
9And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
10Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
11So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
12And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
13And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
14And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:
15And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.
16So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
17And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.
18Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

1All the people gathered themselves together as one man into the wide place that was in front of the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.
3He read from it before the wide place that was in front of the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those who could understand. The ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.
4Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people (for he was above all the people), and when he opened it, all the people stood up.

9Nehemiah, who was the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “Today is holy to the LORD your God. Don’t mourn, nor weep.” For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.
10Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
11So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Hold your peace, for the day is holy. Don’t be grieved.”
12All the people went their way to eat, to drink, to send portions, and to celebrate, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.
13On the second day, the heads of fathers’ households of all the people, the priests, and the Levites were gathered together to Ezra the scribe, to study the words of the law.
14They found written in the law how the LORD had commanded by Moses that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month;
15and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the mountain, and get olive branches, branches of wild olive, myrtle branches, palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make temporary shelters, as it is written.”
16So the people went out and brought them, and made themselves temporary shelters, everyone on the roof of his house, in their courts, in the courts of God’s house, in the wide place of the water gate, and in the wide place of Ephraim’s gate.
17All the assembly of those who had come back out of the captivity made temporary shelters and lived in the temporary shelters, for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day the children of Israel had not done so. There was very great gladness.
18Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. They kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.
