1Nadab y Abiú, hijos de Aarón, pusieron fuego sin consagrar en sus incensarios, y ofrecieron incienso delante Señor. De modo que actuaron en contra de lo que el Señor les acababa de ordenar.
2Entonces salió fuego de la presencia del Señor que los quemó y mató.
3Moisés le dijo a Aarón: «Esto es lo que el Señor quiso decir cuando declaró: “Me santificaré entre los que se acercan a mí y seré glorificado delante de todo el pueblo”». Aarón, permaneció en silencio.
4Moisés llamó a Misael y a Elzafán, primos de Aarón, hijos de Uziel, y les dijo: «¡Vayan y saquen a sus hermanos que quedaron delante del santuario y llévenlos fuera del campamento!».
5Se acercaron, pues, los agarraron por sus túnicas y los sacaron fuera del campamento, como Moisés les había ordenado.
6Entonces Moisés les dijo a Aarón y a sus hijos Eleazar e Itamar: «No lloren ni anden despeinados, ni se rasguen sus vestidos, en señal de duelo. Si lo hacen, el Señor se enojará contra ustedes y les dará muerte también, y hará caer su ira sobre todo el pueblo de Israel. El resto del pueblo sí puede lamentar la muerte de Nadab y Abiú y puede hacer duelo por el terrible fuego que el Señor ha enviado.
7Pero ustedes no deben salir del santuario, pues si lo hacen serán castigados con la muerte, porque el Señor los ha ungido». Ellos hicieron, pues, lo que Moisés ordenó.
8El Señor le habló a Aarón y le dijo: «No bebas vino ni otras bebidas alcohólicas cuando tengas que entrar al santuario, o morirás. Esta norma se aplicará a tus hijos y a todos tus descendientes, de generación en generación.

10Así que deben aprender a distinguir entre lo que es sagrado y lo que no lo es, entre lo puro y lo impuro,
11de modo que también podrán enseñarles a los israelitas las leyes que yo, el Señor, les he dado por medio de Moisés».
12Entonces Moisés le dijo a Aarón y a los hijos que le quedaban, es decir, Eleazar e Itamar: «Tomen lo que ha quedado de la ofrenda de harina de la mejor calidad, y cómanla sin levadura, junto al altar. Es una ofrenda santísima.
13Por lo tanto, la comerán en un lugar santo. Esa parte de las ofrendas presentadas por fuego al Señor te pertenece a ti y a tus hijos. Así se me ha mandado.
14»También podrán comer, en un lugar puro, el pecho que fue mecido y presentado al Señor, y el muslo que fue entregado como contribución. Es la porción que te pertenece a ti y a tus hijos e hijas, para que se alimenten. Es la porción que les pertenece de los sacrificios de paz presentados por el pueblo de Israel.
15»El pueblo debe traer el muslo que fue apartado y el pecho que se ofreció cuando se quemó la grasa, y ambos serán presentados y mecidos delante del Señor. Después de eso serán para ti y para tu familia, porque el Señor lo ha ordenado así».
16Moisés buscó diligentemente el macho cabrío de la ofrenda por el pecado, y cuando descubrió que lo habían quemado, se disgustó mucho con Eleazar e Itamar, los dos hijos de Aarón.
17―¿Por qué no se comieron la ofrenda por el pecado en el santuario? —les dijo—. Es una ofrenda santísima, y Dios se la ha dado a ustedes para que quiten el pecado de la congregación, para hacer expiación por ellos delante del Señor.
18Puesto que su sangre no fue llevada al interior del santuario, debían haberla comido aquí, como les ordené.
19Pero Aarón intercedió delante de Moisés. ―Ellos han presentado hoy la ofrenda por el pecado y el holocausto delante del Señor. ¡Y precisamente hoy me ha sucedido la desgracia de perder a mis hijos! Si yo hubiera comido la ofrenda por el pecado en un día como este, ¿habría agradado al Señor?
20Cuando Moisés oyó la respuesta de Aarón, quedó satisfecho.

1Y LOS hijos de Aarón, Nadab y Abiú, tomaron cada uno su incensario, y pusieron fuego en ellos, sobre el cual pusieron perfume, y ofrecieron delante de Jehová fuego extraño, que él nunca les mandó.
2Y salió fuego de delante de Jehová que los quemó, y murieron delante de Jehová.
3Entonces dijo Moisés á Aarón: Esto es lo que habló Jehová, diciendo: En mis allegados me santificaré, y en presencia de todo el pueblo seré glorificado. Y Aarón calló.
4Y llamó Moisés á Misael, y á Elzaphán, hijos de Uzziel, tío de Aarón, y díjoles: Llegaos y sacad á vuestros hermanos de delante del santuario fuera del campo.
5Y ellos llegaron, y sacáronlos con sus túnicas fuera del campo, como dijo Moisés.
6Entonces Moisés dijo á Aarón, y á Eleazar y á Ithamar, sus hijos: No descubráis vuestras cabezas, ni rasguéis vuestros vestidos, porque no muráis, ni se levante la ira sobre toda la congregación: empero vuestros hermanos, toda la casa de Israel, lamentarán el incendio que Jehová ha hecho.
7Ni saldréis de la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio, porque moriréis; por cuanto el aceite de la unción de Jehová está sobre vosotros. Y ellos hicieron conforme al dicho de Moisés.
8Y Jehová habló á Aarón, diciendo:
9Tú, y tus hijos contigo, no beberéis vino ni sidra, cuando hubiereis de entrar en el tabernáculo del testimonio, porque no muráis: estatuto perpetuo por vuestras generaciones;
10Y para poder discernir entre lo santo y lo profano, y entre lo inmundo y lo limpio;
11Y para enseñar á los hijos de Israel todos los estatutos que Jehová les ha dicho por medio de Moisés.
12Y Moisés dijo á Aarón, y á Eleazar y á Ithamar, sus hijos que habían quedado: Tomad el presente que queda de las ofrendas encendidas á Jehová, y comedlo sin levadura junto al altar, porque es cosa muy santa.
13Habéis, pues, de comerlo en el lugar santo: porque esto es fuero para ti, y fuero para tus hijos, de las ofrendas encendidas á Jehová, pues que así me ha sido mandado.
14Comeréis asimismo en lugar limpio, tú y tus hijos y tus hijas contigo, el pecho de la mecida, y la espaldilla elevada, porque por fuero para ti, y fuero para tus hijos, son dados de los sacrificios de las paces de los hijos de Israel.
15Con las ofrendas de los sebos que se han de encender, traerán la espaldilla que se ha de elevar, y el pecho que será mecido, para que lo mezas por ofrenda agitada delante de Jehová: y será por fuero perpetuo tuyo, y de tus hijos contigo, como Jehová lo ha mandado.
16Y Moisés demandó el macho cabrío de la expiación, y hallóse que era quemado: y enojóse contra Eleazar é Ithamar, los hijos de Aarón que habían quedado, diciendo:
17¿Por qué no comisteis la expiación en el lugar santo? porque es muy santa, y dióla él á vosotros para llevar la iniquidad de la congregación, para que sean reconciliados delante de Jehová.
18Veis que su sangre no fué metida dentro del santuario: habíais de comerla en el lugar santo, como yo mandé.
19Y respondió Aarón á Moisés: He aquí hoy han ofrecido su expiación y su holocausto delante de Jehová: pero me han acontecido estas cosas: pues si comiera yo hoy de la expiación, ¿hubiera sido acepto á Jehová?
20Y cuando Moisés oyó esto, dióse por satisfecho.

1And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.
2And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
3Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.
4And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.
5So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.
6And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.
7And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.
8And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying,
9Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:
10And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;
11And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.
12And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy:
13And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons’ due, of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.
14And the wave breast and heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons’ due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.
15The heave shoulder and the wave breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons’ with thee, by a statute for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.
16And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,
17Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD?
18Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.
19And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD; and such things have befallen me: and if I had eaten the sin offering to day, should it have been accepted in the sight of the LORD?
20And when Moses heard that, he was content.

1Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them.
2Fire came out from before the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
3Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD spoke of, saying, ‘I will show myself holy to those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” Aaron held his peace.
4Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Draw near, carry your brothers from before the sanctuary out of the camp.”
5So they came near, and carried them in their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.
6Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, “Don’t let the hair of your heads go loose, and don’t tear your clothes, so that you don’t die, and so that he will not be angry with all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD has kindled.
7You shall not go out from the door of the Tent of Meeting, lest you die; for the anointing oil of the LORD is on you.” They did according to the word of Moses.
8Then the LORD said to Aaron,
9“You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink whenever you go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.
10You are to make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean.
11You are to teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD has spoken to them by Moses.”
12Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons who were left, “Take the meal offering that remains of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without yeast beside the altar; for it is most holy;
13and you shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your portion, and your sons’ portion, of the offerings of the LORD made by fire; for so I am commanded.
14The waved breast and the heaved thigh you shall eat in a clean place, you, and your sons, and your daughters with you: for they are given as your portion, and your sons’ portion, out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the children of Israel.
15They shall bring the heaved thigh and the waved breast with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the LORD. It shall be yours, and your sons’ with you, as a portion forever, as the LORD has commanded.”
16Moses diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burned. He was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left, saying,
17“Why haven’t you eaten the sin offering in the place of the sanctuary, since it is most holy, and he has given it to you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD?
18Behold, its blood was not brought into the inner part of the sanctuary. You certainly should have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.”
19Aaron spoke to Moses, “Behold, today they have offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD; and such things as these have happened to me. If I had eaten the sin offering today, would it have been pleasing in the LORD’s sight?”
20When Moses heard that, it was pleasing in his sight.
