1A ces nouvelles, Jabis, rois d'Asor, envoya des messages à Jobab, roi de Maron, au roi de Symoon, au roi d'Asiph,
2Aux rois voisins de la grande Sidon, qui habitaient les montagnes et Araba, vis-à-vis Cénéroth, et la plaine et Phenaddor,
3Aux rois Chananéens de la côte orientale, aux rois Amorrhéens de la côte, aux Hettéens, aux Phérézéens, au Jébuséens, qui habitaient les montagnes, aux Evéens et à ceux qui habitaient sous Hermon dans la contrée de Massyma.
4Et tous ces peuples sortirent et leurs rois avec eux, semblables par leur multitude au sable de la mer, avec une cavalerie nombreuse et des chars.
5Et tous leurs rois se réunirent, et ils arrivèrent en même temps vers les eaux de Maron, et ils y campèrent pour combattre Israël.
6Et le Seigneur dit à Josué : N'aie point de crainte devant eux, car demain, à cette même heure, je te les livrerai ; ils fuiront à l'aspect d'Israël ; tu couperas les jarrets de leurs chevaux, et tu brûleras leurs chars.
7Et soudain, Josué avec tous ses hommes de guerre, ayant marché contre eux sur les eaux de Maron, les attaqua dans la montagne.
8Et le Seigneur les livra aux mains d'Israël. Israël, les taillant en pièces, les poursuivit jusqu'à la grande Sidon, jusqu'à Maseron et jusqu'à la plaine de Massoch du côté de l'orient. Et ils les détruisirent, et ils ne laissèrent pas un seul survivant.
9Josué les traita comme l'avait prescrit le Seigneur : il coupa les jarrets de leurs chevaux, et brûla leurs chars.
10En ce temps-là, Josué, revenant sur ses pas, prit Asor et son roi. Or, cette ville était jadis la reine de tous ces royaumes.
11Israël passa au fil de l'épée tout ce qui en elle avait souffle de vie ; il extermina tout, il n'y laissa point un être vivant ; et il livra Asor aux flammes.
12Ensuite, Josué prit toutes les villes capitales, et tous leurs rois, qu'il passa au fil de l'épée ; il extermina tous les habitants, comme l'avait ordonné Moïse, serviteur de Dieu.
13Mais Israël n'incendia aucune des villes entourées de remparts ; de ces villes, Asor fut la seule incendiée.
14Les fils d'Israël prirent pour eux toutes ses dépouilles ; ils passèrent les hommes au fil de l'épée jusqu'à ce qu'ils les eussent tous exterminés ; ils n'en laissèrent pas un seul vivant.
15Ainsi l'avait prescrit le Seigneur à son serviteur Moïse ; ainsi l'avait prescrit Moïse à Josué ; ainsi fit Josué, qui n'omit rien des ordres de Moïse.
16Et Josué prit toute la contrée montagneuse, toute la terre de Nageb, toute la terre de Gosom, tout le plat pays, la plaine à l'occident, la montagne d'Israël et les basses terres au pied de la montagne.
17A partir des monts de Chelcha, il prit aussi le territoire qui monte vers Séir, et celui qui s'étend jusqu'à Balagad, et les plaines situées au pied du Liban, sous le mont Hermon. Il prit tous les rois de ces contrées, il les détruisit, il les extermina.
18Bien des jours s'écoulèrent pendant que Josué fit la guerre à ces rois.
19Il n'y eut pas une ville qui ne fut prise par Israël ; ils les prirent toutes par la force des armes,
20Parce que (et cela vint du Seigneur) leurs habitants se fortifièrent le cœur et marchèrent contre Israël, afin qu'ils fussent exterminés, qu'on ne leur fit point de quartier, mais qu'ils périssent, comme le Seigneur avait dit à Moïse.
21En ces temps-là, Josué les attaqua, et il fit disparaître Enac de la contrée montagneuse d'Hébron, de Dabir, d'Anaboth, de la montagne d'Israël, et de toutes les montagnes de Juda ; Josué les extermina et détruisit leurs villes.
22Et nul de la race d'Enac ne fut épargné par les fils d'Israël, hormis dans Gaza, dans Geth, et dans Aseldo, où il en fut laissé.
23Et Josué prit toute la terre promise, selon que le Seigneur avait prescrit à Moïse ; et Josué la donna pour héritage à Israël en la partageant entre ses tribus. Et la terre fut en repos après les combats.

1OYENDO esto Jabín rey de Hasor, envió mensaje á Jobab rey de Madón, y al rey de Simrom, y al rey de Achsaph,
2Y á los reyes que estaban á la parte del norte en las montañas, y en el llano al mediodía de Cinneroth, y en los llanos, y en las regiones de Dor al occidente;
3Y al Cananeo que estaba al oriente y al occidente, y al Amorrheo, y al Hetheo, y al Pherezeo, y al Jebuseo en las montañas, y al Heveo debajo de Hermón en tierra de Mizpa.
4Estos salieron, y con ellos todos sus ejércitos, pueblo mucho en gran manera, como la arena que está á la orilla del mar, con gran muchedumbre de caballos y carros.
5Todos estos reyes se juntaron, y viniendo reunieron los campos junto á las aguas de Merom, para pelear contra Israel.
6Mas Jehová dijo á Josué: No tengas temor de ellos, que mañana á esta hora yo entregaré á todos éstos, muertos delante de Israel: á sus caballos desjarretarás, y sus carros quemarás al fuego.
7Y vino Josué, y con él todo el pueblo de guerra, contra ellos, y dió de repente sobre ellos junto á las aguas de Merom.
8Y entrególos Jehová en manos de Israel, los cuales los hirieron y siguieron hasta Sidón la grande, y hasta las aguas calientes, y hasta el llano de Mizpa al oriente, hiriéndolos hasta que no les dejaron ninguno.
9Y Josué hizo con ellos como Jehová le había mandado: desjarretó sus caballos, y sus carros quemó al fuego.
10Y tornándose Josué, tomó en el mismo tiempo á Hasor, é hirió á cuchillo á su rey: la cual Hasor había sido antes cabeza de todos estos reinos.
11E hirieron á cuchillo todo cuanto en ella había vivo, destruyendo y no dejando cosa con vida; y á Asor pusieron á fuego.
12Asimismo tomó Josué todas las ciudades de aquestos reyes, y á todos los reyes de ellas, y los metió á cuchillo, y los destruyó, como Moisés siervo de Jehová lo había mandado.
13Empero todas las ciudades que estaban en sus cabezos, no las quemó Israel, sacando á sola Asor, la cual quemó Josué.
14Y los hijos de Israel tomaron para sí todos los despojos y bestias de aquestas ciudades: pero á todos los hombres metieron á cuchillo hasta destruirlos, sin dejar alguno con vida.
15De la manera que Jehová lo había mandado á Moisés su siervo, así Moisés lo mandó á Josué: y así Josué lo hizo, sin quitar palabra de todo lo que Jehová había mandado á Moisés.
16Tomó pues Josué toda aquella tierra, las montañas, y toda la región del mediodía, y toda la tierra de Gosén, y los bajos y los llanos, y la montaña de Israel y sus valles.
17Desde el monte de Halac, que sube hasta Seir, hasta Baal-gad en la llanura del Líbano, á las raíces del monte Hermón: tomó asimismo todos sus reyes, los cuales hirió y mató.
18Por muchos días tuvo guerra Josué con estos reyes.
19No hubo ciudad que hiciese paz con los hijos de Israel, sacados los Heveos, que moraban en Gabaón: todo lo tomaron por guerra.
20Porque esto vino de Jehová, que endurecía el corazón de ellos para que resistiesen con guerra á Israel, para destruirlos, y que no les fuese hecha misericordia, antes fuesen desarraigados, como Jehová lo había mandado á Moisés.
21También en el mismo tiempo vino Josué y destruyó los Anaceos de los montes, de Hebrón, de Debir, y de Anab, y de todos los montes de Judá, y de todos los montes de Israel: Josué los destruyó á ellos y á sus ciudades.
22Ninguno de los Anaceos quedó en la tierra de los hijos de Israel; solamente quedaron en Gaza, en Gath, y en Asdod.
23Tomó, pues, Josué toda la tierra, conforme á todo lo que Jehová había dicho á Moisés; y entrególa Josué á los Israelitas por herencia, conforme á sus repartimientos de sus tribus: y la tierra reposó de guerra.

1And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
2And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,
3And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
4And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.
5And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.
6And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.
7So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.
8And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth-maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.
9And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.
10And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.
11And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.
12And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.
13But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.
14And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.
15As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.
16So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
17Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.
18Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
19There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.
20For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.
21And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
22There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
23So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

1When Jabin king of Hazor heard of it, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph,
2and to the kings who were on the north, in the hill country, in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west,
3to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.
4They went out, they and all their armies with them, many people, even as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots.
5All these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.
6The LORD said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid because of them; for tomorrow at this time, I will deliver them up all slain before Israel. You shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.”
7So Joshua came suddenly, with all the warriors, against them by the waters of Merom, and attacked them.
8The LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they struck them, and chased them to great Sidon, and to Misrephoth Maim, and to the valley of Mizpah eastward. They struck them until they left them no one remaining.
9Joshua did to them as the LORD told him. He hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.
10Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and struck its king with the sword; for Hazor used to be the head of all those kingdoms.
11They struck all the souls who were in it with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them. There was no one left who breathed. He burned Hazor with fire.
12Joshua captured all the cities of those kings, with their kings, and he struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.
