1Et Bildad de Such prit la parole et dit :
2Jusques à quand tiendras-tu ces discours ? Les paroles de ta bouche ont la violence de l'ouragan.
3Dieu fera-t-Il plier la loi, et le Tout-puissant, plier la justice ?
4Si tes fils ont péché contre Lui, Il les a mis à la merci de leur crime.
5Mais si tu veux chercher Dieu, et du Tout-puissant implorer la clémence,
6si tu es pur et droit, oh ! alors Il veillera sur toi, et donnera le bonheur à la maison d'un juste,
7et tes commencements auront été petits, tant ton avenir aura de grandeur.
8Interroge en effet l'âge qui précède, et fais attention aux recherches de ses pères :
9(car nous sommes d'hier, et nous ne savons pas, car nos jours sont une ombre sur la terre).
10Ne t'instruiront-ils pas ? ne te diront-ils pas, et de leur cœur ces mots ne sortiront-ils pas ?
11Le papyrus grandit-il où il n'y a pas de marais ? le roseau prospère-t-il où il n'y a pas d'eau ?
12il en est encore à son premier jet, on ne le fauche pas, cependant il sèche avant toutes les herbes.
13Tel est le chemin de quiconque oublie Dieu, et l'espoir de l'impie s'évanouit,
14son assurance est brisée, en une toile d'araignée il met sa confiance ;
15il s'appuie sur sa maison, et elle ne tient pas, il s'y cramponne, et elle ne reste pas debout.
16Il est plein de sève aux rayons mêmes du soleil, et ses jets s'étendent au delà de son enclos,
17dans des monceaux de cailloux ses racines s'insinuent, il affronte un sol pierreux ;
18qu'on l'arrache de sa place, elle le renie : « Je ne t'ai jamais vu ! »
19Telles sont les délices de ses voies, et de la poussière il en croîtra d'autres.
20Voici, Dieu ne rejette pas l'innocent, mais Il ne prend point les pécheurs par la main :
21si bien qu'il remplira ta bouche d'allégresse, et tes lèvres, de jubilation.
22Ceux qui te haïssent, seront couverts de honte, et la tente des impies cessera d'être,

1Y RESPONDIÓ Bildad Suhita, y dijo:
2¿Hasta cuándo hablarás tales cosas, y las palabras de tu boca serán como un viento fuerte?
3¿Acaso pervertirá Dios el derecho, ó el Todopoderoso pervertirá la justicia?
4Si tus hijos pecaron contra él, él los echó en el lugar de su pecado.
5Si tú de mañana buscares á Dios, y rogares al Todopoderoso;
6Si fueres limpio y derecho, cierto luego se despertará sobre ti, y hará próspera la morada de tu justicia.
7Y tu principio habrá sido pequeño, y tu postrimería acrecerá en gran manera.
8Porque pregunta ahora á la edad pasada, y disponte para inquirir de sus padres de ellos;
9Pues nosotros somos de ayer, y no sabemos, siendo nuestros días sobre la tierra como sombra.
10¿No te enseñarán ellos, te dirán, y de su corazón sacarán palabras?
11¿Crece el junco sin lodo? ¿crece el prado sin agua?
12Aun él en su verdor no será cortado, y antes de toda hierba se secará.
13Tales son los caminos de todos los que olvidan á Dios: y la esperanza del impío perecerá:
14Porque su esperanza será cortada, y su confianza es casa de araña.
15Apoyaráse él sobre su casa, mas no permanecerá en pie; atendráse á ella, mas no se afirmará.
16A manera de un árbol, está verde delante del sol, y sus renuevos salen sobre su huerto;
17Vanse entretejiendo sus raíces junto á una fuente, y enlazándose hasta un lugar pedregoso.
18Si le arrancaren de su lugar, éste negarále entonces, diciendo: Nunca te vi.
19Ciertamente éste será el gozo de su camino; y de la tierra de donde se traspusiere, nacerán otros.
20He aquí, Dios no aborrece al perfecto, ni toma la mano de los malignos.
21Aun henchirá tu boca de risa, y tus labios de júbilo.
22Los que te aborrecen, serán vestidos de confusión; y la habitación de los impíos perecerá.
King James Version
1Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
3Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
4If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;
5If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
6If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
7Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.
8For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
9(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)
10Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
11Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
12Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.
13So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:
14Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web.
15He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.
16He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
17His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.
18If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.
19Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
20Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:
21Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.
22They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
World English Bible
1Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,
2“How long will you speak these things? Shall the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?
3Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?
4If your children have sinned against him, he has delivered them into the hand of their disobedience.
5If you want to seek God diligently, make your supplication to the Almighty.
6If you were pure and upright, surely now he would awaken for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous.
7Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.
8“Please inquire of past generations. Find out about the learning of their fathers.
9(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)
10Shall they not teach you, tell you, and utter words out of their heart?
11“Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the rushes grow without water?
12While it is yet in its greenness, not cut down, it withers before any other reed.
13So are the paths of all who forget God. The hope of the godless man will perish,
14whose confidence will break apart, whose trust is a spider’s web.

18If he is destroyed from his place, then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’

20“Behold, God will not cast away a blameless man, neither will he uphold the evildoers.
21He will still fill your mouth with laughter, your lips with shouting.
22Those who hate you will be clothed with shame. The tent of the wicked will be no more.”
