Jeremías 51

Así dice Yahvé: “Ved que voy a suscitar un espíritu destructor contra Babel y contra los moradores de Caldea.

ASÍ ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo levanto sobre Babilonia, y sobre sus moradores que se levantan contra mí, un viento destruidor.

Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;

The LORD says: “Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against those who dwell in Lebkamai, a destroying wind.

Enviaré a Babilonia aventadores que la aventarán, y que despojen su país y lo rodeen por todas partes en el día de la desdicha.

Y enviaré á Babilonia aventadores que la avienten, y vaciarán su tierra; porque serán contra ella de todas partes en el día del mal.

And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.

I will send to Babylon strangers, who will winnow her. They will empty her land; for in the day of trouble they will be against her all around.

Entese el arquero su arco contra el arquero, y contra aquel que se jacta de su coraza. No perdonéis a sus jóvenes, exterminad a todas sus huestes”,

Diré al flechero que entesa su arco, y al que se pone orgulloso con su loriga: No perdonéis á sus mancebos, destruid todo su ejército.

Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.

Against him who bends, let the archer bend his bow, also against him who lifts himself up in his coat of mail. Don’t spare her young men! Utterly destroy all her army!

para que caigan muertos en la tierra de los caldeos y traspasados en sus calles.

Y caerán muertos en la tierra de los Caldeos, y alanceados en sus calles.

Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.

They will fall down slain in the land of the Chaldeans, and thrust through in her streets.

Porque Israel y Judá no son viudas (desamparadas) de su Dios, Yahvé de los ejércitos: aunque su país está lleno de culpa contra el Santo de Israel.

Porque Israel y Judá no han enviudado de su Dios, Jehová de los ejércitos, aunque su tierra fué llena de pecado contra el Santo de Israel.

For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.

For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, by his God, by the LORD of Armies; though their land is full of guilt against the Holy One of Israel.

Huid de en medio de Babilonia, salve cada uno su vida, no sea que perezcáis por la iniquidad de ella; porque, tiempo es de la venganza de Yahvé; Él va a darle su merecido.

Huid de en medio de Babilonia, y librad cada uno su alma, porque no perezcáis á causa de su maldad: porque el tiempo es de venganza de Jehová; darále su pago.

Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD’s vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.

“Flee out of the middle of Babylon! Everyone save his own life! Don’t be cut off in her iniquity, for it is the time of the LORD’s vengeance. He will give to her a recompense.

Babilonia era un cáliz de oro en la mano de Yahvé, para embriagar a toda la tierra; de su vino bebieron los pueblos de modo que enloquecieron.

Vaso de oro fué Babilonia en la mano de Jehová, que embriaga toda la tierra: de su vino bebieron las gentes; aturdiéronse por tanto las naciones.

Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD’s hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

Babylon has been a golden cup in the LORD’s hand, who made all the earth drunk. The nations have drunk of her wine; therefore the nations have gone mad.

De repente ha caído Babilonia, y ha sido quebrantada; lamentadla, tomad bálsamo para su herida, a ver si sana.

En un momento cayó Babilonia, y despedazóse: aullad sobre ella; tomad bálsamo para su dolor, quizá sanará.

Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed! Wail for her! Take balm for her pain. Perhaps she may be healed.

Hemos procurado curar a Babilonia, pero ella no ha sanado. Abandonadla, y vámonos cada cual a su país, pues su crimen alcanza hasta el cielo, y se alza hasta las nubes.

Curamos á Babilonia, y no ha sanado: dejadla, y vámonos cada uno á su tierra; porque llegado ha hasta el cielo su juicio, y alzádose hasta las nubes.

We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

“We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed. Forsake her, and let’s each go into his own country; for her judgment reaches to heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

Yahvé ha manifestado nuestra justicia; venid, y narremos en Sión la obra de Yahvé, Dios nuestro.”

Jehová sacó á luz nuestras justicias: venid, y contemos en Sión la obra de Jehová nuestro Dios.

The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

‘The LORD has produced our righteousness. Come, and let’s declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.’

Aguzad las saetas, cubríos con los escudos; Yahvé ha excitado el espíritu de los reyes de los medos; porque su plan contra Babilonia es destruirla; es la venganza de Yahvé, la venganza de su Templo.

Limpiad las saetas, embrazad los escudos: despertado ha Jehová el espíritu de los reyes de Media; porque contra Babilonia es su pensamiento para destruirla; porque venganza es de Jehová, venganza de su templo.

Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.

“Make the arrows sharp! Hold the shields firmly! The LORD has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes, because his purpose is against Babylon, to destroy it; for it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.

Alzad el estandarte contra los muros de Babilonia, aumentad la vigilancia; poned centinelas, y disponed emboscadas, porque Yahvé ejecuta lo que se ha propuesto, o que ha anunciado contra los habitantes de Babel.

Levantad bandera sobre los muros de Babilonia, reforzad la guardia, poned centinelas, disponed celadas; porque deliberó Jehová, y aun pondrá en efecto lo que ha dicho sobre los moradores de Babilonia.

Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.

Set up a standard against the walls of Babylon! Make the watch strong! Set the watchmen, and prepare the ambushes; for the LORD has both purposed and done that which he spoke concerning the inhabitants of Babylon.

Tú que habitas junto a muchas aguas, rica en tesoros, ha llegado tu fin, (está llena) la medida de tus rapiñas.

La que moras entre muchas aguas, rica en tesoros, venido ha tu fin, la medida de tu codicia.

O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

You who dwell on many waters, abundant in treasures, your end has come, the measure of your covetousness.

Yahvé de los ejércitos ha jurado por sí mismo: “Te inundaré de hombres como si fuesen langostas, y lanzarán contra ti gritos” (de victoria).

Jehová de los ejércitos juró por su vida, diciendo: Yo te llenaré de hombres como de langostas, y levantarán contra ti gritería.

The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.

The LORD of Armies has sworn by himself, saying, ‘Surely I will fill you with men, as with locusts, and they will lift up a shout against you.’

Él hizo la tierra con su poder, fundó el orbe con su sabiduría, y con su inteligencia desplegó los cielos.

El es el que hizo la tierra con su fortaleza, el que afirmó el mundo con su sabiduría, y extendió los cielos con inteligencia;

He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

“He has made the earth by his power. He has established the world by his wisdom. By his understanding he has stretched out the heavens.

A su voz se amontonan las aguas en el cielo; Él hace subir las nubes desde los extremos de la tierra, prepara los relámpagos para la lluvia, y saca de sus depósitos los vientos.

El que da con su voz muchedumbre de aguas del cielo, y hace subir las nubes de lo postrero de la tierra; él hace relámpagos con la lluvia, y saca el viento de sus tesoros.

When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

When he utters his voice, there is a roar of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and brings the wind out of his treasuries.

Todo hombre es necio, sin inteligencia; avergüéncese todo artífice de sus ídolos, porque mentira son sus imágenes de fundición, y no hay aliento en ellas.

Todo hombre se ha infatuado y es sin ciencia: avergüénzase todo artífice de la escultura, porque mentira es su vaciadizo, que no tiene espíritu.

Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

“Every man has become stupid and without knowledge. Every goldsmith is disappointed by his image, for his molten images are falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

Cosas vanas son, obras de engaño; perecerán en el tiempo de su castigo.

Vanidad son, obra de irrisiones; en el tiempo de su visitación perecerán.

They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

They are vanity, a work of delusion. In the time of their visitation, they will perish.

La porción de Jacob no es semejante a ellas, porque Él formó todas las cosas; (Israel) es la tribu de su herencia; Yahvé de los ejércitos es su nombre.

No es como ellos la parte de Jacob: porque él es el Formador de todo; é Israel es la vara de su heredad: Jehová de los ejércitos es su nombre.

The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.

The portion of Jacob is not like these, for he formed all things, including the tribe of his inheritance. The LORD of Armies is his name.

“Tú me serviste de martillo, de arma de guerra; por medio de ti he aplastado pueblos, por medio de ti he destruido reinos;

Martillo me sois, y armas de guerra; y por medio de ti quebrantaré gentes, y por medio de ti desharé reinos;

Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

“You are my battle ax and weapons of war. With you I will break the nations into pieces. With you I will destroy kingdoms.

por medio de ti he aplastado al caballo y a su jinete, por medio de ti he aplastado el carro con el conductor;

Y por tu medio quebrantaré caballos y sus cabalgadores, y por medio de ti quebrantaré carros y los que en ellos suben;

And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;

With you I will break in pieces the horse and his rider.

por medio de ti he aplastado al hombre y a la mujer, por medio de ti he aplastado al viejo y al niño, por medio de ti he aplastado al joven y a la doncella;

Asimismo por tu medio quebrantaré hombres y mujeres, y por medio de ti quebrantaré viejos y mozos, y por tu medio quebrantaré mancebos y vírgenes:

With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;

With you I will break in pieces the chariot and him who rides therein. With you I will break in pieces man and woman. With you I will break in pieces the old man and the youth. With you I will break in pieces the young man and the virgin.

por medio de ti he aplastado al pastor y su rebaño, por medio de ti he aplastado al labrador y su yunta, por medio de ti he aplastado a gobernadores y jefes.

También quebrantaré por medio de ti al pastor y á su manada: quebrantaré por tu medio á labradores y sus yuntas; y duques y príncipes quebrantaré por medio de ti.

I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.

With you I will break in pieces the shepherd and his flock. With you I will break in pieces the farmer and his yoke. With you I will break in pieces governors and deputies.

Pero retribuiré ante vuestros ojos a Babel y a todos los habitantes de Caldea, todo el mal que hicieron a Sión —oráculo de Yahvé.

Y pagaré á Babilonia y á todos los moradores de Caldea, todo el mal de ellos que hicieron en Sión delante de vuestros ojos, dice Jehová.

And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.

“I will give to Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight,” says the LORD.

Heme aquí contra ti, oh monte destructor, que has destruido toda la tierra, dice Yahvé. Yo extenderé mi mano contra ti, y te haré rodar desde lo alto de las peñas; y te convertiré en monte consumido por las llamas.

He aquí yo contra ti, oh monte destruidor, dice Jehová, que destruiste toda la tierra; y extenderé mi mano sobre ti, y te haré rodar de las peñas, y te tornaré monte quemado.

Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

“Behold, I am against you, destroying mountain,” says the LORD, “which destroys all the earth. I will stretch out my hand on you, roll you down from the rocks, and will make you a burned mountain.

Y no se tomará de ti piedra angular, ni piedra fundamental, porque serás ruina perpetua, dice Yahvé.

Y nadie tomará de ti piedra para esquina, ni piedra para cimiento; porque perpetuos asolamientos serás, ha dicho Jehová.

And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD.

They won’t take a cornerstone from you, nor a stone for foundations; but you will be desolate forever,” says the LORD.

Alzad bandera en la tierra, tocad la trompeta entre los pueblos, convocad contra ella las naciones, llamad los reinos de Ararat, Mení y Asquenaz, nombrad contra ella un Jefe, lanzad los caballos como langostas erizadas.

Alzad bandera en la tierra, tocad trompeta en las naciones, apercibid gentes contra ella; juntad contra ella los reinos de Ararat, de Minni, y de Aschênaz; señalad contra ella capitán, haced subir caballos como langostas erizadas.

Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.

“Set up a standard in the land! Blow the trumpet among the nations! Prepare the nations against her! Call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz! Appoint a marshal against her! Cause the horses to come up as the swarming locusts!

Consagrad contra ella los pueblos, los reyes de los medos, sus gobernadores y sus jefes, y todos los países de su dominio.

Apercibid contra ella gentes; á reyes de Media, á sus capitanes, y á todos sus príncipes, y á toda la tierra de su señorío.

Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

Prepare against her the nations, the kings of the Medes, its governors, and all its deputies, and all the land of their dominion!

Tiembla la tierra y se estremece, pues se cumplen contra Babilonia los planes de Yahvé, de hacer del país de Babilonia un desierto sin habitantes.

Y temblará la tierra, y afligiráse; porque confirmado es contra Babilonia todo el pensamiento de Jehová, para poner la tierra de Babilonia en soledad, y que no haya morador.

And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

The land trembles and is in pain; for the purposes of the LORD against Babylon stand, to make the land of Babylon a desolation, without inhabitant.

Los guerreros de Babilonia dejan ya de luchar, permanecen en los baluartes; se acabó su fuerza, han venido a ser como mujeres; han sido quemadas sus casas, están rotos sus cerrojos.

Los valientes de Babilonia dejaron de pelear, estuviéronse en sus fuertes: faltóles su fortaleza, tornáronse como mujeres: encendiéronse sus casas, quebráronse sus cerrojos.

The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.

The mighty men of Babylon have stopped fighting, they remain in their strongholds. Their might has failed. They have become as women. Her dwelling places are set on fire. Her bars are broken.

Un correo corre para alcanzar a otro correo, y un mensajero a otro mensajero, para anunciar al rey de Babilonia que su ciudad ha sido tomada desde un cabo a otro;

Correo se encontrará con correo, mensajero se encontrará con mensajero, para noticiar al rey de Babilonia que su ciudad es tomada por todas partes:

One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,

One runner will run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken on every quarter.

que han sido ocupados los vados, que los cañaverales están en llamas y los guerreros llenos de consternación.

Y los vados fueron tomados, y los carrizos fueron quemados á fuego, y consternáronse los hombres de guerra.

And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

So the passages are seized. They have burned the reeds with fire. The men of war are frightened.”

Porque así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: “La hija de Babel es como una era que se aplana (para la trilla); un poco todavía, y llega para ella el tiempo de la siega”.

Porque así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: La hija de Babilonia es como parva; tiempo es ya de trillarla: de aquí á poco le vendrá el tiempo de la siega.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

For the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel says: “The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time when it is trodden. Yet a little while, and the time of harvest comes for her.”

“Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, me ha consumido, me ha destruido, me ha dejado como una vasija vacía; cual dragón me ha devorado; se ha llenado el vientre de mis mejores bocados, me ha echado fuera.”

Comióme, desmenuzóme Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia; paróme como vaso vacío, tragóme como dragón, hinchió su vientre de mis delicadezas, y echóme.

Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.

“Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me. He has crushed me. He has made me an empty vessel. He has, like a monster, swallowed me up. He has filled his mouth with my delicacies. He has cast me out.

“¡Recaiga sobre Babel la violencia que he sufrido en mi carne”, dice la habitadora de Sión; “¡y mi sangre sobre los habitantes de Caldea!”, dice Jerusalén.

Sobre Babilonia la violencia contra mí y mi carne, dirá la moradora de Sión; y mi sangre sobre los moradores de Caldea, dirá Jerusalem.

The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.

May the violence done to me and to my flesh be on Babylon!” the inhabitant of Zion will say; and, “May my blood be on the inhabitants of Chaldea!” will Jerusalem say.

Por eso, así dice Yahvé: “He aquí que Yo defenderé tu causa, y te vengaré; secaré su mar y haré que se agoten sus fuentes.

Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo juzgo tu causa y haré tu venganza; y secaré su mar, y haré que quede seca su corriente.

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

Therefore the LORD says: “Behold, I will plead your cause, and take vengeance for you. I will dry up her sea, and make her fountain dry.

Babel será un montón de ruinas, morada de chacales; objeto de pasmo y escarnio (tierra) sin habitantes.

Y será Babilonia para montones, morada de chacales, espanto y silbo, sin morador.

And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

Babylon will become heaps, a dwelling place for jackals, an astonishment, and a hissing, without inhabitant.

Braman a una como leones, rugen cual cachorros de león.

A una rugirán como leones; como cachorros de leones bramarán.

They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions’ whelps.

They will roar together like young lions. They will growl as lions’ cubs.

En su fiebre les daré una bebida, los embriagaré, para que se diviertan, y duerman un sueño perpetuo, del cual no se despertarán, dice Yahvé.

En su calor les pondré sus banquetes; y haréles que se embriaguen, para que se alegren, y duerman eterno sueño, y no despierten, dice Jehová.

In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD.

When they are inflamed, I will make their feast, and I will make them drunk, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake up,” says the LORD.

Los llevaré al matadero como corderos, como carneros y machos cabríos.”

Hacerlos he traer como corderos al matadero, como carneros con cabritos.

I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.

“I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with male goats.

¡Cómo ha sido tomada Sesac, conquistada la gloria de toda la tierra! ¡Cómo se ha trocado Babel en objeto de horror entre los pueblos!

¡Cómo fué presa Sesach, y fué tomada la que era alabada por toda la tierra! ¡Cómo fué Babilonia por espanto entre las gentes!

How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!

“How Sheshach is taken! How the praise of the whole earth is seized! How Babylon has become a desolation among the nations!

El mar ha inundado a Babilonia, la cubrió la muchedumbre de sus olas.

Subió la mar sobre Babilonia; de la multitud de sus ondas fué cubierta.

The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

The sea has come up on Babylon. She is covered with the multitude of its waves.

Sus ciudades han venido a ser un desierto, una tierra seca y árida, tierra inhabitada por la cual no transitará hombre alguno.

Sus ciudades fueron asoladas, la tierra seca y desierta, tierra que no morará en ella nadie, ni pasará por ella hijo de hombre.

Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby.

Her cities have become a desolation, a dry land, and a desert, a land in which no man dwells. No son of man passes by it.

“Castigaré a Bel en Babilonia, y arrancaré de su boca lo que ha engullido; ya no concurrirán a él las naciones; pues hasta los muros de Babilonia caerán.

Y visitaré á Bel en Babilonia, y sacaré de su boca lo que ha tragado: y no vendrán más á él gentes; y el muro de Babilonia caerá.

And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

I will execute judgment on Bel in Babylon, and I will bring out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up. The nations will not flow any more to him. Yes, the wall of Babylon will fall.

Salid de ella, oh pueblo mío, y salve cada cual su vida del furor de la ira de Yahvé.

Salid de en medio de ella, pueblo mío, y salvad cada uno su vida de la ira del furor de Jehová.

My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.

“My people, go away from the middle of her, and each of you save yourselves from the LORD’s fierce anger.

No se amedrente vuestro corazón, ni temáis los rumores que se oirán en la tierra. Un año correrá un rumor, y después, otro año, otro rumor; la violencia dominará en el país, un tirano seguirá a otro.

Y porque no desmaye vuestro corazón, y temáis á causa de la fama que se oirá por la tierra, en un año vendrá la fama, y después en otro año el rumor, y la violencia en la tierra, y el enseñoreador sobre el que enseñorea.

And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

Don’t let your heart faint. Don’t fear for the news that will be heard in the land. For news will come one year, and after that in another year news will come, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

Por lo tanto, he aquí que vienen días en que castigaré los ídolos de Babel; toda su tierra quedará cubierta de vergüenza, y todos sus muertos yacerán en medio de ella.

Celebrarán lo sucedido a Babilonia los cielos y la tierra y cuanto hay en ellos, porque desde el norte vendrán sobre ella los devastadores —oráculo de Yahvé.

Y los cielos y la tierra, y todo lo que está en ellos, darán alabanzas sobre Babilonia: porque del aquilón vendrán sobre ella destruidores, dice Jehová.

Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.

Los que habéis escapado a la espada, partid sin demora. Desde lejos acordaos de Yahvé, y Jerusalén ocupe vuestros corazones.

Los que escapasteis del cuchillo, andad, no os detengáis; acordaos por muchos días de Jehová, y acordaos de Jerusalem.

Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

You who have escaped the sword, go! Don’t stand still! Remember the LORD from afar, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.”

«Estamos avergonzados, conocemos nuestra ignominia, la confusión cubre nuestro rostro; pues los extranjeros penetraron en los lugares sagrados de la Casa de Yahvé».

Estamos avergonzados, porque oímos la afrenta: confusión cubrió nuestros rostros, porque vinieron extranjeros contra los santuarios de la casa de Jehová.

We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD’s house.

“We are confounded because we have heard reproach. Confusion has covered our faces, for strangers have come into the sanctuaries of the LORD’s house.”

Por esto, he aquí que vienen días, dice Yahvé, en que castigaré sus ídolos, y en todo su país se oirá el gemido de los traspasados.

Por tanto, he aquí vienen días, dice Jehová, que yo visitaré sus esculturas, y en toda su tierra gemirán los heridos.

Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.

Aunque Babilonia se levantase hasta el cielo, e hiciese inaccesible su alta fortaleza, de mi parte le vendrán sus devastadores”, dice Yahvé.

Si subiese Babilonia al cielo, y si fortaleciere en lo alto su fuerza, de mí vendrán á ella destruidores, dice Jehová.

Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.

Alaridos se oyen de Babilonia, quebranto grande de la tierra de los caldeos;

¡Sonido de grito de Babilonia, y quebrantamiento grande de la tierra de los Caldeos!

A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:

“The sound of a cry comes from Babylon, and of great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans!

pues devasta Yahvé a Babel y ahoga su voz jactanciosa; braman sus olas como copiosas aguas, retumba el fragor de su voz.

Porque Jehová destruye á Babilonia, y quitará de ella el mucho estruendo; y bramarán sus ondas, como muchas aguas será el sonido de la voz de ellos:

Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:

For the LORD lays Babylon waste, and destroys out of her the great voice! Their waves roar like many waters. The noise of their voice is uttered.

Porque vino sobre ella, sobre Babel, el devastador; han sido apresados sus guerreros y rotos sus arcos; pues Dios de retribuciones es Yahvé; dará sin falta la paga.

Porque vino destruidor contra ella, contra Babilonia, y sus valientes fueron presos, el arco de ellos fué quebrado: porque Jehová, Dios de retribuciones, dará la paga.

Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.

For the destroyer has come on her, even on Babylon. Her mighty men are taken. Their bows are broken in pieces, for the LORD is a God of retribution. He will surely repay.

Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: “Las anchas murallas de Babel serán totalmente destruidas, y quemadas sus altas puertas. Trabajaron los pueblos por nada, y las naciones se han cansado para el fuego.”

Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: El muro ancho de Babilonia será derribado enteramente, y sus altas puertas serán quemadas á fuego; y en vano trabajarán pueblos y gentes en el fuego, y se cansarán.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.

The LORD of Armies says: “The wide walls of Babylon will be utterly overthrown. Her high gates will be burned with fire. The peoples will labor for vanity, and the nations for the fire; and they will be weary.”

Orden que el profeta Jeremías dio a Seraías, hijo de Nerías, hijo de Maasías, cuando este se encaminó a Babilonia, con Sedecías, rey de Judá, en el año cuarto de su reinado. Seraías era camarero mayor.

Palabra que envió Jeremías profeta á Seraías hijo de Nerías, hijo de Maasías, cuando iba con Sedechîas rey de Judá á Babilonia, el cuarto año de su reinado. Y era Seraías el principal camarero.

y dirás: ¡Oh, Yahvé! Tú has anunciado que destruirás este lugar, de modo que no quede en él habitante, ni hombre ni bestia, sino que sea convertido en desierto perpetuo.

Dirás: Oh Jehová, tú has dicho contra este lugar que lo habías de talar, hasta no quedar en él morador, ni hombre ni animal, sino que para siempre ha de ser asolado.

Then shalt thou say, O LORD, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

and say, ‘LORD, you have spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that no one will dwell in it, neither man nor animal, but that it will be desolate forever.’

y dirás: «Así se sumergirá Babilonia, y no se recobrará del mal que voy a traer sobre ella. Así quedarán destruidos».” Hasta aquí las palabras de Jeremías.
