1Nun siehe, ich habe dich heute losgemacht von den Ketten, damit deine Hände gebunden waren. Gefällt dir's, mit mir gen Babel zu ziehen, so komm, du sollst mir befohlen sein; gefällt dir's aber nicht, mit mir gen Babel zu ziehen, so laß es anstehen. Siehe, da hast du das ganze Land vor dir; wo dich's gut dünkt und dir gefällt, da zeuch hin.
2Denn weiter hinaus wird kein Wiederkehren sein. Darum magst du kehren zu Gedalja, dem Sohn Ahikams, des Sohns Saphans, welchen der König zu Babel gesetzt hat über die Städte in Juda, und bei demselbigen unter dem Volk bleiben; oder gehe, wohin dir's wohlgefällt. Und der Hauptmann gab ihm Zehrung und Geschenke und ließ ihn gehen.
3Also kam Jeremia zu Gedalja, dem Sohn Ahikams, gen Mizpa und blieb bei ihm unter dem Volk, das im Lande noch übrig war.
4Da nun die Hauptleute, so auf dem Felde sich enthielten, samt ihren Leuten erfuhren, daß der König zu Babel hatte Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, über das Land gesetzt und beide, über Männer und Weiber, Kinder und die Geringen im Lande, welche nicht gen Babel geführet waren,
5kamen sie zu Gedalja gen Mizpa, nämlich Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, Johanan und Jonathan, die Söhne Kareahs, und Seraja, der Sohn Thanhumeths, und die Söhne Ephai von Netophath und Jesanja, der Sohn Maachathis, samt ihren Männern.
6Und Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, des Sohns Saphans, tat ihnen und ihren Männern einen Eid und sprach: Fürchtet euch nicht, daß ihr den Chaldäern untertan sein sollet; bleibet im Lande und seid dem Könige zu Babel untertan, so wird's euch wohlgehen.
7Siehe, ich wohne hie zu Mizpa, daß ich den Chaldäern diene, die zu uns kommen. Darum so sammelt ein den Wein und Feigen und Öl und leget es in eure Gefäße und wohnet in euren Städten, die ihr bekommen habt.
8Auch alle Juden, so im Lande Moab und der Kinder Ammon und in Edom und in allen Ländern waren, da sie höreten, daß der König zu Babel hätte lassen etliche in Juda überbleiben und über sie gesetzt Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, des Sohns Saphans,
9kamen sie alle wieder von allen Orten, dahin sie verstoßen waren, ins Land Juda zu Gedalja gen Mizpa und sammelten ein sehr viel Weins und Sommerfrüchte.
10Aber Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, samt all den Hauptleuten, so auf dem Felde sich enthalten hatten, kamen zu Gedalja gen Mizpa
11und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du auch, daß Baalis, der König der Kinder Ammon, gesandt hat Ismael, den Sohn Nethanjas, daß er dich soll erschlagen? Das wollte ihnen aber Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, nicht glauben.
12Da sprach Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, zu Gedalja heimlich zu Mizpa: Lieber, ich will hingehen und Ismael, den Sohn Nethanjas, schlagen, daß es niemand erfahren soll. Warum soll er dich erschlagen, daß alle Juden, so zu dir versammelt sind, zerstreuet werden und die noch aus Juda überblieben sind, umkommen?
13Aber Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, sprach zu Johanan, dem Sohn Kareahs: Du sollst das nicht tun; es ist nicht wahr, das du von Ismael sagest.
14Aber im siebenten Monden kam Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, des Sohns Elisamas, aus königlichem Stamm, samt den Obersten des Königs und zehn Männer mit ihm zu Gedalja, dem Sohn Ahikams, gen Mizpa und aßen daselbst zu Mizpa miteinander.
15Und Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, machte sich auf samt den zehn Männern, die bei ihm waren, und schlugen Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, des Sohns Saphans, mit dem Schwert zu Tode, darum daß ihn der König zu Babel über das Land gesetzt hatte.
16Dazu alle Juden die bei Gedalja waren zu Mizpa, und die Chaldäer, die sie daselbst fanden, und alle Kriegsleute schlug Ismael.

1PALABRA que fué á Jeremías de Jehová, después que Nabuzaradán capitán de la guardia le envió desde Ramá, cuando le tomó estando atado con esposas entre toda la transmigración de Jerusalem y de Judá que iban cautivos á Babilonia.
2Tomó pues el capitán de la guardia á Jeremías, y díjole: Jehová tu Dios habló este mal contra este lugar;
3Y halo traído y hecho Jehová según que había dicho: porque pecasteis contra Jehová, y no oísteis su voz, por eso os ha venido esto.
4Y ahora yo te he soltado hoy de las esposas que tenías en tus manos. Si te está bien venir conmigo á Babilonia, ven, y yo miraré por ti; mas si no te está bien venir conmigo á Babilonia, déjalo: mira, toda la tierra está delante de ti; ve á donde mejor y más cómodo te pareciere ir.
5Y aun no se había él vuelto, cuando le dijo: Vuélvete á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán, al cual el rey de Babilonia ha puesto sobre todas las ciudades de Judá, y vive con él en medio del pueblo: ó ve á donde te pareciere más cómodo de ir. Y dióle el capitán de la guardia presentes y dones, y despidióle.
6Fuése entonces Jeremías á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, á Mizpa, y moró con él en medio del pueblo que había quedado en la tierra.
7Y como oyeron todos los príncipes del ejército que estaba por el campo, ellos y sus hombres, que el rey de Babilonia había puesto á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam sobre la tierra, y que le había encomendado los hombres, y las mujeres, y los niños, y los pobres de la tierra, que no fueron trasportados á Babilonia;
8Vinieron luego á Gedalías en Mizpa, es á saber, Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y Johanán y Jonathán hijos de Carea, y Seraías hijo de Tanhumeth, y los hijos de Ephi Netophatita, y Jezanías hijo de Maachâti, ellos y sus hombres.
9Y juróles Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán, á ellos y á sus hombres, diciendo: No tengáis temor de servir á los Caldeos: habitad en la tierra, y servid al rey de Babilonia, y tendréis bien.
10Y he aquí que yo habito en Mizpa, para estar delante de los Caldeos que vendrán á nosotros; mas vosotros, coged el vino, y el pan, y el aceite, y ponedlo en vuestros almacenes, y quedaos en vuestras ciudades que habéis tomado.
11Asimismo todos los Judíos que estaban en Moab, y entre los hijos de Ammón, y en Edom, y los que estaban en todas las tierras, cuando oyeron decir como el rey de Babilonia había dejado algunos en la Judea, y que había puesto sobre ellos á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán,
12Todos estos Judíos tornaron entonces de todas las partes adonde habían sido echados, y vinieron á tierra de Judá, á Gedalías en Mizpa; y cogieron vino y muy muchos frutos.
13Y Johanán, hijo de Carea, y todos los príncipes de la gente de guerra que estaban en el campo, vinieron á Gedalías en Mizpa,
14Y dijéronle: ¿No sabes de cierto como Baalis, rey de los hijos de Ammón, ha enviado á Ismael hijo de Nethanías, para matarte? Mas Gedalías hijo de Ahicam no los creyó.
15Entonces Johanán hijo de Carea habló á Gedalías en secreto, en Mizpa, diciendo: Yo iré ahora, y heriré á Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y hombre no lo sabrá: ¿por qué te ha de matar, y todos los Judíos que se han recogido á ti se derramarán, y perecerá el resto de Judá?
16Pero Gedalías hijo de Ahicam dijo á Johanán hijo de Carea: No hagas esto, porque falso es lo que tú dices de Ismael.

1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.
2And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The LORD thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.
3Now the LORD hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
4And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
5Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
6Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
7Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
8Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
9And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
11Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
12Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
13Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
14And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
15Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
16But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.

2The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him, “The LORD your God pronounced this evil on this place;

If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will take care of you; but if it seems bad to you to come with me into Babylon, don’t. Behold, all the land is before you. 6Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and lived with him among the people who were left in the land.
7Now when all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, women, children, and of the poorest of the land, of those who were not carried away captive to Babylon,
8then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men came to Gedaliah to Mizpah.
9Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore to them and to their men, saying, “Don’t be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.
10As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who will come to us; but you, gather wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that you have taken.”
11Likewise when all the Jews who were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon, and in Edom, and who were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan,
12then all the Jews returned out of all places where they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, to Mizpah, and gathered very much wine and summer fruits.

15Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, “Please let me go, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man will know it. Why should he take your life, that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?”
16But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah, “You shall not do this thing, for you speak falsely of Ishmael.”
