1Als nun Jerusalem eingenommen war, (1) im neunten Jahre Zedekias, des Königs von Juda, im zehnten Monate, rückte Nebukadrezar, der König von Babel, mit seiner gesamten Heeresmacht gegen Jerusalem und schloß es ein;
2im elften Jahre des Zedekia aber, im vierten Monat, am neunten des Monats, wurde Bresche in die Stadt gelegt,
3da kamen alle Obersten des Königs von Babel und ließen sich am Mittelthore nieder: Nergal-Sarezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, der Oberkämmerer, Nergal-Sarezer, der Obermagier, mit allen übrigen Obersten des Königs von Babel.
4Als aber Zedekia, der König von Juda, und alle Kriegsleute sie sahen, flohen sie und verließen des Nachts die Stadt auf dem Wege nach dem Königsgarten durch das Thor zwischen den beiden Mauern und zogen weiter in der Richtung nach der Araba.
5Aber die Truppen der Chaldäer jagten ihnen nach und holten Zedekia ein in den Steppen von Jericho; sie nahmen ihn mit und führten ihn zu Nebukadrezar, dem Könige von Babel, nach Ribla im Gebiete von Hamath; der sprach ihm das Urteil.
6Und der König von Babel ließ in Ribla die Söhne Zedekias vor seinen Augen schlachten; dazu ließ der König von Babel alle Edlen Judas schlachten.
7Zedekia aber ließ er blenden und in Ketten legen, um ihn nach Babel zu bringen.
8Den Palast des Königs aber und die Häuser des Volks verbrannten die Chaldäer und rissen die Mauern Jerusalems nieder.
9Und den Rest des Volks, die in der Stadt Übriggebliebenen, und die Überläufer, die zu ihm übergelaufen waren, und den Rest des Volks, die Übriggebliebenen, führte Nebusar-Adan, der Oberste der Leibwächter, hinweg nach Babel;
10von den geringen Leuten jedoch, die gar nichts ihr Eigen nannten, ließ Nebusar-Adan, der Oberste der Leibwächter, etliche im Lande Juda zurück und verlieh ihnen an jenem Tage Weinberge und Äcker.
11In betreff Jeremias aber erließ Nebukadrezar, der König von Babel, durch Nebusar-Adan, den Obersten der Leibwächter, folgenden Befehl:
12Hole ihn, trage Sorge für ihn und füge ihm keinerlei Böses zu; vielmehr verfahre mit ihm nach den Wünschen, die er gegen dich äußert!
13Und es sandten Nebusar-Adan, der Oberste der Leibwächter, und Nebusasban, der Oberkämmerer, und Nergal-Sarezer, der Obermagier, und alle Obersten des Königs von Babel hin
14und ließen Jeremia, aus dem Wachthofe holen und übergaben ihn Gedalja, dem Sohne Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, daß er ihn in den Palast verbringe. Und so verblieb er inmitten des Volks.
15An Jeremia aber war, während er im Wachthof in Haft war, folgendes Wort Jahwes ergangen:
16Gehe hin und sprich zu dem Äthiopen Ebed-Melech: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Nun lasse ich meine Worte über diese Stadt, nämlich die in betreff des Unheils und nicht die in betreff des Heils eintreffen, und sie werden jenes Tags vor deinen Augen in Erfüllung gehen.
17Dich aber will ich an jenem Tag erretten, ist der Spruch Jahwes, und du sollst nicht in die Gewalt der Männer überliefert werden, vor denen dir graut.
18Vielmehr will ich dich entrinnen lassen, und du sollst nicht durch das Schwert fallen und sollst dein Leben zur Beute haben, weil du dich auf mich verlassen hast, ist der Spruch Jahwes.

1EN el noveno año de Sedechîas rey de Judá, en el mes décimo, vino Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia con todo su ejército contra Jerusalem, y cercáronla.
2Y en el undécimo año de Sedechîas, en el mes cuarto, á los nueve del mes, fué rota la ciudad;
3Y entraron todos los príncipes del rey de Babilonia, y asentaron á la puerta del medio: Nergal-sarezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, y Rabsaris, Nergal-sarezer, Rabmag, y todos los demás príncipes del rey de Babilonia.
4Y fué que viéndolos Sedechîas, rey de Judá, y todos los hombres de guerra, huyeron, y saliéronse de noche de la ciudad por el camino de la huerta del rey, por la puerta entre los dos muros: y salió el rey por el camino del desierto.
5Mas el ejército de los Caldeos los siguió, y alcanzaron á Sedechîas en los llanos de Jericó; y tomáronle, é hiciéronle subir á Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, á Ribla, en tierra de Hamath, y sentencióle.
6Y degolló el rey de Babilonia los hijos de Sedechîas á su presencia en Ribla, haciendo asimismo degollar el rey de Babilonia á todos los nobles de Judá.
7Y sacó los ojos al rey Sedechîas, y aprisionóle con grillos para llevarle á Babilonia.
8Y los Caldeos pusieron á fuego la casa del rey y las casas del pueblo, y derribaron los muros de Jerusalem.
9Y el resto del pueblo que había quedado en la ciudad, y los que se habían á él adherido, con todo el resto del pueblo que había quedado, trasportólos á Babilonia Nabuzaradán, capitán de la guardia.
10Empero Nabuzaradán, capitán de la guardia, hizo quedar en tierra de Judá del vulgo de los pobres que no tenían nada, y dióles entonces viñas y heredades.
11Y Nabucodonosor había ordenado á Nabuzaradán capitán de la guardia, acerca de Jeremías, diciendo:
12Tómale, y mira por él, y no le hagas mal ninguno; antes harás con él como él te dijere.
13Envió por tanto Nabuzaradán capitán de la guardia, y Nabusazbán, Rabsaris, y Nergal-sarezer, y Rabmag, y todos los príncipes del rey de Babilonia;
14Enviaron entonces, y tomaron á Jeremías del patio de la cárcel, y entregáronlo á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán, para que lo sacase á casa: y vivió entre el pueblo.
15Y había sido palabra de Jehová á Jeremías, estando preso en el patio de la cárcel, diciendo:
16Ve, y habla á Ebed-melec Etiope, diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: He aquí traigo yo mis palabras sobre esta ciudad para mal, y no para bien; y vendrán á ser en aquel día á presencia tuya.
17Mas en aquel día yo te libraré, dice Jehová, y no serás entregado en mano de aquellos de quienes tú temes.
18Porque ciertamente te libraré, y no caerás á cuchillo, sino que tu vida te será por despojo, porque tuviste confianza en mí, dice Jehová.

1In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.
2And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.
3And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, Rab-saris, Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.
4And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
5But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.
6Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.
7Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.
8And the Chaldeans burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.
9Then Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.
10But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
11Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard, saying,
12Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.
13So Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rab-saris, and Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, and all the king of Babylon’s princes;
14Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.
15Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
16Go and speak to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.
17But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.
18For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.
World English Bible
1In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city.
3All the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate: Nergal Sharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim the Rabsaris, Nergal Sharezer the Rabmag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.
4When Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled and went out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out toward the Arabah.
5But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. When they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he pronounced judgment on him.
6Then the king of Babylon killed Zedekiah’s sons in Riblah before his eyes. The king of Babylon also killed all the nobles of Judah.
7Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.
8The Chaldeans burned the king’s house and the people’s houses with fire and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
9Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the rest of the people who remained in the city, the deserters also who fell away to him, and the rest of the people who remained.
10But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
11Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon commanded Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard concerning Jeremiah, saying,
12“Take him and take care of him. Do him no harm; but do to him even as he tells you.”
13So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, Nebushazban, Rabsaris, and Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon
14sent and took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard, and committed him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should bring him home. So he lived among the people.
15Now the LORD’s word came to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying,
16“Go, and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, ‘The LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I will bring my words on this city for evil, and not for good; and they will be accomplished before you in that day.
17But I will deliver you in that day,” says the LORD; “and you will not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.
18For I will surely save you. You won’t fall by the sword, but you will escape with your life, because you have put your trust in me,” says the LORD.’”
