1IM vierten Jahre Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, erging vom Herrn an Jeremia dieses Wort:
2Nimm dir eine Buchrolle und schreibe darauf alle Worte, die ich zu dir geredet habe wider Jerusalem, wider Juda und wider alle Völker von dem Tage an, da ich (zum erstenmal) zu dir geredet habe, seit den Tagen Josias bis auf diesen Tag. (a) Jer 25:3; 30:2
3Vielleicht hört das Haus Juda darauf, wieviel Unheil ich über sie zu bringen gedenke, dass sie umkehren, ein jeder von seinem bösen Wege, und ich ihnen Schuld und Sünde vergebe. (a) Jer 26:3
4Da rief Jeremia den Baruch, den Sohn Nerias, und Baruch schrieb nach dem Diktate Jeremias alle Worte, die der Herr zu ihm geredet hatte, auf eine Buchrolle.
5Dann gab Jeremia dem Baruch Weisung und sprach: Ich bin verhindert; ich darf das Haus des Herrn nicht betreten.
6So gehe nun du hinein und lies aus der Rolle, die du nach meinem Diktate geschrieben hast, dem Volke im Tempel die Worte des Herrn an einem Fasttage vor; auch allen Judäern, die aus ihren Städten hereinkommen, sollst du sie vorlesen.
7Vielleicht werfen sie sich dann flehend vor dem Herrn nieder und kehren um, ein jeder von seinem bösen Wege; denn gross ist der Zorn und der Grimm, mit dem der Herr dieses Volk bedroht hat.
8Und Baruch, der Sohn Nerias, tat ganz, wie ihm der Prophet Jeremia befohlen hatte: er las aus dem Buche die Worte des Herrn im Tempel vor.
9Es geschah nämlich im fünften Jahre Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, im neunten Monat, dass man in Jerusalem ein Fasten vor dem Herrn ausrief - alles Volk in Jerusalem und alles Volk, das aus den Städten Judas hereinkam.
10Da las Baruch aus dem Buche die Worte Jeremias dem ganzen Volke im Tempel vor, in dem Gemach Gemarjas, des Sohnes des Kanzlers Saphan, im obern Vorhof am Eingang des neuen Tempeltors.
11Als nun Micha, der Sohn Gemarjas, des Sohnes Saphans, alle die Worte des Herrn aus dem Buche gehört hatte,
12ging er hinab in den Palast des Königs, in das Gemach des Kanzlers. Dort waren gerade alle Fürsten zu einer Sitzung versammelt: der Kanzler Elisama, Delaja, der Sohn Semajas, Elnathan, der Sohn Achbors, Gemarja, der Sohn Saphans, Zedekia, der Sohn Hananjas, und alle die andern Fürsten.
13Und Micha meldete ihnen die Worte alle, die er gehört hatte, als Baruch sie dem Volke aus dem Buche vorlas.
14Da sandten alle Fürsten den Jehudi, den Sohn Nethanjas, des Sohnes Selemjas, des Sohnes Chusis, zu Baruch und liessen ihm sagen: Nimm die Rolle, aus der du dem Volke vorgelesen hast, und komme damit her. Und Baruch, der Sohn Nerias, nahm die Rolle und kam damit zu ihnen.
15Dann sprachen sie zu ihm: Setze dich doch und lies sie uns vor. Und Baruch las ihnen vor.
16Als sie nun alle die Worte gehört hatten, sahen sie einander entsetzt an und sprachen: Wir müssen unbedingt dem König alle diese Worte kundtun.
17Den Baruch aber fragten sie: Sage uns doch: wie hast du alle diese Worte aufgeschrieben?
18Baruch antwortete ihnen: Jeremia selber hat mir alle diese Worte diktiert, während ich sie mit Tinte in das Buch schrieb.
19Da sprachen die Fürsten zu Baruch: Geht und verbergt euch, du und Jeremia! Niemand darf wissen, wo ihr seid.
20Dann gingen sie zum König in den Palasthof, nachdem sie die Rolle im Gemach des Kanzlers Elisama verwahrt hatten, und berichteten dem König die ganze Sache.
21Da sandte der König den Jehudi, die Rolle zu holen, und der holte sie aus dem Gemach des Kanzlers Elisama. Und Jehudi las sie dem König und allen Fürsten in seiner Umgebung vor.
22Der König aber sass im Winterhause - es war ja im neunten Monat -, während vor ihm das Feuer im Kohlenbecken brannte. (1) d.h. im Dezember.
23Wenn nun Jehudi drei oder vier Spalten gelesen hatte, schnitt der König sie mit dem Federmesser ab und warf sie in das Feuer auf dem Kohlenbecken, bis die ganze Rolle im Feuer des Kohlenbeckens verzehrt war.
24Und niemand erschrak und zerriss sein Kleid, weder der König noch seine Diener, die alle diese Worte mitanhörten.
25Wohl drangen Elnathan, Delaja und Gemarja in den König, die Rolle nicht zu verbrennen; aber er hörte nicht auf sie.
26Alsdann befahl der König dem Prinzen Jerahmeel, Seraja, dem Sohne Asriels, und Selemja, dem Sohne Abdeels, den Schreiber Baruch und den Propheten Jeremia zu holen; aber der Herr hielt sie verborgen.
27Nachdem nun der König die Rolle mit den Worten, die Baruch nach dem Diktat Jeremias aufgeschrieben, verbrannt hatte, erging das Wort des Herrn an Jeremia also:
28Nimm dir wieder eine andre Rolle und schreibe darauf alle die Worte, die auf der Rolle standen, welche Jojakim, der König von Juda, verbrannt hat.
29Über Jojakim aber, den König von Juda, sollst du sagen: So spricht der Herr: Du hast diese Rolle verbrannt und gesagt: "Warum hast du darauf geschrieben, der König von Babel werde kommen und dieses Land verwüsten und Menschen und Vieh darin vertilgen?" (a) Jer 25:9 11
30Darum spricht der Herr über Jojakim, den König von Juda, also: Er soll keinen (Nachkommen) haben, der auf dem Throne Davids sitze, und sein Leichnam soll daliegen, preisgegeben der Hitze bei Tage und dem Frost in der Nacht. (a) Jer 22:19
31Und ich werde an ihm und seinem Geschlecht und seinen Dienern ihre Verschuldung ahnden; ich werde über sie und über die Bewohner Jerusalems und die Männer von Juda all das Unheil bringen, das ich ihnen angedroht habe, ohne dass sie darauf hörten.
32Da nahm Jeremia eine andre Rolle und gab sie dem Schreiber Baruch, dem Sohne Nerias; der schrieb darauf nach dem Diktat Jeremias alle Worte des Buches, das Jojakim, der König von Juda, verbrannt hatte, und es wurden ihnen noch viele ähnliche Worte hinzugefügt.

1Y ACONTECIÓ en el cuarto año de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, que fué esta palabra á Jeremías, de Jehová, diciendo:
2Tómate un rollo de libro, y escribe en él todas las palabras que te he hablado contra Israel y contra Judá, y contra todas las gentes, desde el día que comencé á hablarte, desde los días de Josías hasta hoy.
3Quizá oirá la casa de Judá todo el mal que yo pienso hacerles, para volverse cada uno de su mal camino, y yo perdonaré su maldad y su pecado.
4Y llamó Jeremías á Baruch hijo de Nerías, y escribió Baruch de boca de Jeremías, en un rollo de libro, todas las palabras que Jehová le había hablado.
5Después mandó Jeremías á Baruch, diciendo: Yo estoy preso, no puedo entrar en la casa de Jehová:
6Entra tú pues, y lee de este rollo que escribiste de mi boca, las palabras de Jehová en oídos del pueblo, en la casa de Jehová, el día del ayuno; y las leerás también en oídos de todo Judá que vienen de sus ciudades.
7Quizá caerá oración de ellos en la presencia de Jehová, y tornaráse cada uno de su mal camino; porque grande es el furor y la ira que ha expresado Jehová contra este pueblo.
8Y Baruch hijo de Nerías hizo conforme á todas las cosas que le mandó Jeremías profeta, leyendo en el libro las palabras de Jehová en la casa de Jehová.
9Y aconteció en el año quinto de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, en el mes noveno, que promulgaron ayuno en la presencia de Jehová, á todo el pueblo de Jerusalem, y á todo el pueblo que venía de las ciudades de Judá á Jerusalem.
10Y Baruch leyó en el libro las palabras de Jeremías en la casa de Jehová, en la cámara de Gemarías hijo de Saphán escriba, en el atrio de arriba, á la entrada de la puerta nueva de la casa de Jehová, en oídos del pueblo.
11Y Michêas hijo de Gemarías, hijo de Saphán, habiendo oído del libro todas las palabras de Jehová,
12Descendió á la casa del rey, á la cámara del secretario, y he aquí que todos los príncipes estaban allí sentados, á saber: Elisama secretario, y Delaías hijo de Semeías, y Elnathán hijo de Achbor, y Gemarías hijo de Saphán, y Sedechîas hijo de Ananías, y todos los príncipes.
13Y contóles Michêas todas las palabras que había oído leyendo Baruch en el libro en oídos del pueblo.
14Entonces enviaron todos los príncipes á Jehudí hijo de Nethanías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Chusi, para que dijese á Baruch: Toma el rollo en que leíste á oídos del pueblo, y ven. Y Baruch, hijo de Nerías, tomó el rollo en su mano, y vino á ellos.
15Y dijéronle: Siéntate ahora, y léelo en nuestros oídos. Y leyó Baruch en sus oídos.
16Y fué que, como oyeron todas aquellas palabras, cada uno se volvió espantado á su compañero, y dijeron á Baruch: Sin duda contaremos al rey todas estas palabras.
17Preguntaron luego á Baruch, diciendo: Cuéntanos ahora cómo escribiste de boca de Jeremías todas estas palabras.
18Y Baruch les dijo: El me dictaba de su boca todas estas palabras, y yo escribía con tinta en el libro.
19Entonces dijeron los príncipes á Baruch: Ve, y escóndete tú y Jeremías, y nadie sepa dónde estáis.
20Y entraron al rey al atrio, habiendo depositado el rollo en la cámara de Elisama secretario; y contaron en los oídos del rey todas estas palabras.
21Y envió el rey á Jehudí á que tomase el rollo, el cual lo tomó de la cámara de Elisama secretario, y leyó en él Jehudí en oídos del rey, y en oídos de todos los príncipes que junto al rey estaban.
22Y el rey estaba en la casa de invierno en el mes noveno, y había un brasero ardiendo delante de él;
23Y fué que, como Jehudí hubo leído tres ó cuatro planas, rasgólo con un cuchillo de escribanía, y echólo en el fuego que había en el brasero, hasta que todo el rollo se consumió sobre el fuego que en el brasero había.
24Y no tuvieron temor, ni rasgaron sus vestidos, el rey y todos sus siervos que oyeron todas estas palabras.
25Y aunque Elnathán y Delaías y Gemarías rogaron al rey que no quemase aquel rollo, no los quiso oir:
26Antes mandó el rey á Jerameel hijo de Amelech, y á Seraías hijo de Azriel, y á Selemías hijo de Abdeel, que prendiesen á Baruch el escribiente y á Jeremías profeta; mas Jehová los escondió.
27Y fué palabra de Jehová á Jeremías, después que el rey quemó el rollo, las palabras que Baruch había escrito de boca de Jeremías, diciendo:
28Vuelve á tomar otro rollo, y escribe en él todas las palabras primeras, que estaban en el primer rollo que quemó Joacim, rey de Judá.
29Y dirás á Joacim rey de Judá: Así ha dicho Jehová: Tú quemaste este rollo, diciendo: ¿Por qué escribiste en él, diciendo: De cierto vendrá el rey de Babilonia, y destruirá esta tierra, y hará que no queden en ella hombres ni animales?
30Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová, en orden á Joacim rey de Judá: No tendrá quien se siente sobre el trono de David; y su cuerpo será echado al calor del día y al hielo de la noche.
31Y visitaré sobre él, y sobre su simiente, y sobre sus siervos, su maldad; y traeré sobre ellos, y sobre los moradores de Jerusalem, y sobre los varones de Judá, todo el mal que les he dicho y no escucharon.
32Y tomó Jeremías otro rollo, y diólo á Baruch hijo de Nerías escriba; y escribió en él de boca de Jeremías todas las palabras del libro que quemó en el fuego Joacim rey de Judá; y aun fueron añadidas sobre ellas muchas otras palabras semejantes.

1And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.
3It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
4Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.
5And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of the LORD:
6Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD’s house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
7It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.
8And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD’s house.
9And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.
10Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD’s house, in the ears of all the people.
11When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the LORD,
12Then he went down into the king’s house, into the scribe’s chamber: and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
13Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
14Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
15And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.
16Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.
17And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?
18Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.
19Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be.
20And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.
21So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe’s chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.
22Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.
23And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.
24Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.
25Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.
26But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.
27Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
28Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.
29And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
30Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
31And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.
32Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.

1In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2“Take a scroll of a book, and write in it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day.
3It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I intend to do to them, that they may each return from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
4Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the LORD’s words, which he had spoken to him, on a scroll of a book.
5Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am restricted. I can’t go into the LORD’s house.
6Therefore you go, and read from the scroll which you have written from my mouth, the LORD’s words, in the ears of the people in the LORD’s house on the fast day. Also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah who come out of their cities.
7It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will each return from his evil way; for the LORD has pronounced great anger and wrath against this people.”

17They asked Baruch, saying, “Tell us now, how did you write all these words at his mouth?”
18Then Baruch answered them, “He dictated all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.”
19Then the princes said to Baruch, “You and Jeremiah go hide. Don’t let anyone know where you are.”
20They went in to the king into the court, but they had laid up the scroll in the room of Elishama the scribe. Then they told all the words in the hearing of the king.
21So the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it out of the room of Elishama the scribe. Jehudi read it in the hearing of the king, and in the hearing of all the princes who stood beside the king.
22Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, and there was a fire in the brazier burning before him.
23When Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
24The king and his servants who heard all these words were not afraid, and didn’t tear their garments.
25Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them.
26The king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but the LORD hid them.
27Then the LORD’s word came to Jeremiah, after the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
28“Take again another scroll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.
29Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘The LORD says: “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written therein, saying, “The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cause to cease from there man and animal”?’”
30Therefore the LORD says concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: “He will have no one to sit on David’s throne. His dead body will be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
31I will punish him, his offspring, and his servants for their iniquity. I will bring on them, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they didn’t listen.”’”
32Then Jeremiah took another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and many similar words were added to them.
