1Nun erging das Wort des HERRN an mich folgendermaßen:
2»Gehe hin und rufe (dem Volk in) Jerusalem laut in die Ohren: ›So hat der HERR gesprochen: Ich gedenke an die Holdseligkeit deiner Jugend, deine bräutliche Liebe, wie du hinter mir herzogst in der Wüste, im unwirtlichen Lande.
3Geheiligt war Israel (damals) dem HERRN, sein Erstlingsabhub von der Ernte; alle, die sich an ihm vergriffen, mußten es büßen: Unheil kam über sie‹« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.
4Vernehmt das Wort des HERRN, ihr vom Hause Jakob und alle ihr Geschlechter des Hauses Israel!
5So hat der HERR gesprochen: »Was haben eure Väter Unrechtes an mir gefunden, daß sie sich von mir losgesagt haben und der Nichtigkeit nachgelaufen und auf Nichtiges verfallen sind?
6Sie fragten nicht mehr: ›Wo ist der HERR, der uns aus Ägyptenland hergeführt, der uns durch die Wüste geleitet hat, durch ein Land der Steppen und Schluchten, durch ein Land der Dürre und des Dunkels, durch ein Land, das kein Wanderer durchzieht und in welchem kein Mensch Wohnung nimmt?‹
7Als ich euch dann in das Land der Fruchtgefilde gebracht hatte, damit ihr dessen Früchte und Segen genösset, da seid ihr hineingekommen und habt mein Land entweiht und mein Besitztum zu einer Greuelstätte gemacht!
8Die Priester fragten nicht: ›Wo ist der HERR?‹, und die Hüter des Gesetzes kannten mich nicht, die Hirten des Volkes fielen von mir ab, und die Propheten weissagten durch den Baal und liefen den Götzen nach, die doch nicht zu helfen vermögen.
9Darum muß ich noch weiter mit euch ins Gericht gehen« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN – »und werde noch mit euren Kindeskindern ins Gericht gehen!«
10»Denn fahrt doch nach den Gestaden der Kitthäer hinüber und überzeugt euch dort, sendet nach Kedar, erkundigt euch genau und seht zu, ob so etwas jemals geschehen ist:
11ob je ein Volk seine Götter umgetauscht hat – und die da sind nicht einmal Götter! Aber mein Volk hat seinen Ruhm vertauscht gegen ohnmächtige Götzen!
12Entsetzt euch darüber, ihr Himmel, schaudert und werdet starr vor Erstaunen!« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.
13»Denn zwiefaches Unrecht hat mein Volk begangen: mich, den Born lebendigen Wassers, haben sie verlassen, um sich gegrabene Brunnen anzulegen, löcherige Brunnen, die das Wasser nicht halten!«
14»Ist denn Israel ein Knecht oder ein Sklavensohn? Warum ist er denn der Plünderung preisgegeben worden?
15Löwen haben über ihm gebrüllt, haben ihr Geheul erschallen lassen und sein Land zur Wüste gemacht; seine Städte sind verbrannt, leer von Bewohnern;
16auch die Ägypter von Noph und Thapanches haben dir den Scheitel abgeweidet.
17Trägt nicht die Schuld daran deine Abkehr vom HERRN, deinem Gott, schon zur Zeit, wo er dich auf der Wanderung führte?
18Und jetzt – was hast du nach Ägypten zu laufen, um das Wasser des Nils zu trinken? Und was brauchst du nach Assyrien zu laufen, um das Wasser des Euphratstromes zu trinken?
19Deine Bosheit bringt dich ins Unglück, und dein treuloses Treiben führt die Strafe für dich herbei! So erkenne es denn und bedenke wohl, wie schlimm und unheilvoll es ist, daß du den HERRN, deinen Gott, verlassen hast und keine Furcht vor mir in dir wohnt!« – so lautet der Ausspruch Gottes, des HERRN der Heerscharen.
20»Denn von alters her hast du dein Joch zerbrochen, deine Bande zerrissen und hast gesagt: ›Ich will nicht (länger) dienstbar sein!‹ Nein, auf jedem hohen Hügel und unter jedem dichtbelaubten Baum hast du dich als Buhlerin hingestreckt.
21Und doch hatte ich dich als Edelrebe eingepflanzt, als ganz echtes Gewächs: ach, wie bist du mir in die wilden Schosse eines fremden Weinstocks ausgeartet!
22Ja, wenn du dich auch mit Laugensalz wüschest und noch so viel Seife an dich wendetest: deine Schuld würde doch als Schmutzfleck vor mir bleiben!« – so lautet der Ausspruch Gottes des HERRN.
23»Wie kannst du nur behaupten: ›Ich habe mich nicht verunreinigt, bin den Baalen nicht nachgelaufen!‹ Sieh doch dein Treiben im Tal an, bedenke, was du dort verübt hast, du leichtfüßige Kamelin, die toll in die Kreuz und Quere rennt!
24Eine Wildeselin, die, an die Steppe gewöhnt, in wilder Lustgier nach Luft schnappt: wer vermag ihre Brunst zu dämpfen? Wer immer sie begehrt, braucht sich nicht müde zu laufen: in ihrer Brunstzeit findet er sie mühelos.
25Nimm deinen Fuß in acht, daß er sich nicht barfuß läuft, und deine Kehle, daß sie nicht vor Durst lechzt! Doch du entgegnest: ›Vergebliche Mühe, nein! Ich habe nun einmal die Fremden gern, und ihnen will ich nachlaufen!‹«
26»Wie ein Dieb beschämt dasteht, wenn er ertappt wird, so werden die zum Hause Israel Gehörigen sich schämen, sie samt ihren Königen und Fürsten, ihren Priestern und Propheten,
27sie, die zu einem Stück Holz sagen: ›Mein Vater bist du!‹ und zu einem Stein: ›Dir verdanke ich mein Leben!‹ Dagegen mir haben sie den Rücken zugekehrt und nicht mehr das Angesicht. Wenn aber das Unglück über sie kommt, dann rufen sie: ›Stehe auf und hilf uns!‹
28Wo sind denn deine Götter, die du dir selbst angefertigt hast? Sie mögen doch aufstehen, ob sie dir helfen können zur Zeit deiner Not! Denn so zahlreich wie deine Städte sind auch deine Götter geworden, Juda.
29Warum beklagt ihr euch über mich? Ihr seid ja allesamt treulos von mir abgefallen!« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.
30»Vergebens habe ich eure Söhne geschlagen: sie haben sich keine Lehre daraus gezogen; das Schwert hat eure Propheten gefressen wie ein reißender Löwe.
31O (entartetes) Geschlecht, das ihr seid! Achtet doch auf das Wort des HERRN! Bin ich etwa eine Wüste für Israel gewesen oder ein Land tiefer Finsternis? Warum sagt denn mein Volk: ›Wir haben die Freiheit gewonnen! Wir kehren nicht wieder zu dir zurück!‹?
32Vergißt wohl eine Jungfrau ihren Schmuck, eine Braut ihren Gürtel? Mein Volk aber hat mich vergessen schon seit unzähligen Tagen!«
33»Wie geschickt weißt du deinen Gang einzurichten, um Liebschaften anzuknüpfen! Darum hast du dich auch auf deinen Gängen sogar an Verbrechen gewöhnt:
34auch an den Säumen deines Gewandes findet sich das Blut von schuldlosen unglücklichen Menschen, die du nicht bei einem Einbruch betroffen hast.
35Und trotzdem behauptest du: ›Ich bin unschuldig: sein Zorn wendet sich von mir ab!‹ Wisse wohl: ich will mit dir ins Gericht gehen wegen dieses deines Wortes: ›Ich habe nichts Böses getan!‹«
36»Warum hast du es so eilig, in der Staatsleitung einen andern Weg einzuschlagen? Auch an Ägypten wirst du ebenso enttäuscht werden, wie du an Assyrien enttäuscht worden bist;
37auch von dort wirst du abziehen, indem du die Hände über dem Kopfe zusammenschlägst; denn der HERR hat die verworfen, auf die du dein Vertrauen gesetzt hast, und so wirst du kein Glück mit ihnen haben.«

2Anda, y clama á los oídos de Jerusalem, diciendo: Así dice Jehová: Heme acordado de ti, de la misericordia de tu mocedad, del amor de tu desposorio, cuando andabas en pos de mí en el desierto, en tierra no sembrada.
3Santidad era Israel á Jehová, primicias de sus nuevos frutos. Todos los que le devoran pecarán; mal vendrá sobre ellos, dice Jehová.
4Oid la palabra de Jehová, casa de Jacob, y todas las familias de la casa de Israel.
5Así dijo Jehová: ¿Qué maldad hallaron en mí vuestros padres, que se alejaron de mí, y se fueron tras la vanidad, y tornáronse vanos?
6Y no dijeron: ¿Dónde está Jehová, que nos hizo subir de tierra de Egipto, que nos hizo andar por el desierto, por una tierra desierta y despoblada, por tierra seca y de sombra de muerte, por una tierra por la cual no pasó varón, ni allí habitó hombre?
7Y os metí en tierra de Carmelo, para que comieseis su fruto y su bien: mas entrasteis, y contaminasteis mi tierra, é hicisteis mi heredad abominable.
8Los sacerdotes no dijeron: ¿Dónde está Jehová? y los que tenían la ley no me conocieron; y los pastores se rebelaron contra mí, y los profetas profetizaron en Baal, y anduvieron tras lo que no aprovecha.
9Por tanto entraré aún en juicio con vosotros, dijo Jehová, y con los hijos de vuestros hijos pleitearé.
10Porque pasad á las islas de Chîttim y mirad; y enviad á Cedar, y considerad cuidadosamente, y ved si se ha hecho cosa semejante á ésta:
11Si alguna gente ha mudado sus dioses, bien que ellos no son dioses. Pero mi pueblo ha trocado su gloria por lo que no aprovecha.
12Espantaos, cielos, sobre esto, y horrorizaos; desolaos en gran manera, dijo Jehová.
13Porque dos males ha hecho mi pueblo: dejáronme á mí, fuente de agua viva, por cavar para sí cisternas, cisternas rotas que no detienen aguas.
14¿Es Israel siervo? ¿es esclavo? ¿por qué ha sido dado en presa?
15Los cachorros de los leones bramaron sobre él, dieron su voz; y pusieron su tierra en soledad; quemadas están sus ciudades, sin morador.
16Aun los hijos de Noph y de Taphnes te quebrantaron la mollera.
17¿No te acarreó esto tu dejar á Jehová tu Dios, cuando te hacía andar por camino?
18Ahora pues, ¿qué tienes tú en el camino de Egipto, para que bebas agua del Nilo? ¿y qué tienes tú en el camino de Asiria, para que bebas agua del río?
19Tu maldad te castigará, y tu apartamiento te condenará: sabe pues y ve cuán malo y amargo es tu dejar á Jehová tu Dios, y faltar mi temor en ti, dice el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos.
20Porque desde muy atrás he quebrado tu yugo, y roto tus ataduras; y dijiste: No serviré. Con todo eso, sobre todo collado alto y debajo de todo árbol umbroso, corrías tú, oh ramera.
21Y yo te planté de buen vidueño, simiente verdadera toda ella: ¿cómo pues te me has tornado sarmientos de vid extraña?
22Aunque te laves con lejía, y amontones jabón sobre ti, tu pecado está sellado delante de mí, dijo el Señor Jehová.
23¿Cómo dices: No soy inmunda, nunca anduve tras los Baales? Mira tu proceder en el valle, conoce lo que has hecho, dromedaria ligera que frecuentas sus carreras;
24Asna montés acostumbrada al desierto, que respira como quiere; ¿de su ocasión quién la detendrá? Todos los que la buscaren no se cansarán; hallaránla en su mes.
25Defiende tus pies de andar descalzos, y tu garganta de la sed. Mas dijiste: Hase perdido la esperanza; en ninguna manera: porque extraños he amado, y tras ellos tengo de ir.
26Como se avergüenza el ladrón cuando es tomado, así se avergonzarán la casa de Israel, ellos, sus reyes, sus príncipes, sus sacerdotes, y sus profetas;
27Que dicen al leño: Mi padre eres tú; y á la piedra: Tú me has engendrado: pues me volvieron la cerviz, y no el rostro; y en el tiempo de su trabajo dicen: Levántate, y líbranos.
28¿Y dónde están tus dioses que hiciste para ti? Levántense, á ver si te podrán librar en el tiempo de tu aflicción: porque según el número de tus ciudades, oh Judá, fueron tus dioses.
29¿Por qué porfías conmigo? Todos vosotros prevaricasteis contra mí, dice Jehová.
30Por demás he azotado vuestros hijos; no han recibido corrección. Cuchillo devoró vuestros profetas como león destrozador.
31¡Oh generación! ved vosotros la palabra de Jehová. ¿He sido yo á Israel soledad, ó tierra de tinieblas? ¿Por qué ha dicho mi pueblo: Señores somos; nunca más vendremos á ti?
32¿Olvídase la virgen de su atavío, ó la desposada de sus sartales? mas mi pueblo se ha olvidado de mí por días que no tienen número.
33¿Por qué abonas tu camino para hallar amor, pues aun á las malvadas enseñaste tus caminos?
34Aun en tus faldas se halló la sangre de las almas de los pobres, de los inocentes: no la hallé en excavación, sino en todas estas cosas.
35Y dices: Porque soy inocente, de cierto su ira se apartó de mí. He aquí yo entraré en juicio contigo, porque dijiste: No he pecado.
36¿Para qué discurres tanto, mudando tus caminos? También serás avergonzada de Egipto, como fuiste avergonzada de Asiria.
37También saldrás de él con tus manos sobre tu cabeza: porque Jehová deshechó tus confianzas, y en ellas no tendrás buen suceso.

1Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
3Israel was holiness unto the LORD, and the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.
4Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:
5Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
6Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
7And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.
8The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.
9Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children’s children will I plead.
10For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.
11Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.
12Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD.
13For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
14Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled?
15The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.
16Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of thy head.
17Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?
18And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?
19Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
20For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.
21Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?
22For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD.
23How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift dromedary traversing her ways;
24A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.
25Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
26As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,
27Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.
28But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.
29Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.
30In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
31O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?
32Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.
33Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.
34Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.
35Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.
36Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.
37Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them.

1The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
2“Go and proclaim in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, ‘The LORD says, “I remember for you the kindness of your youth, your love as a bride, how you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
3Israel was holiness to the LORD, the first fruits of his increase. All who devour him will be held guilty. Evil will come on them,”’ says the LORD.”
4Hear the LORD’s word, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel!
5The LORD says, “What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after worthless vanity, and have become worthless?
6They didn’t say, ‘Where is the LORD who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that no one passed through, and where no man lived?’
7I brought you into a plentiful land to eat its fruit and its goodness; but when you entered, you defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination.
8The priests didn’t say, ‘Where is the LORD?’ and those who handle the law didn’t know me. The rulers also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal and followed things that do not profit.

14Is Israel a slave? Is he born into slavery? Why has he become a captive?
15The young lions have roared at him and raised their voices. They have made his land waste. His cities are burned up, without inhabitant.
16The children also of Memphis and Tahpanhes have broken the crown of your head.
17“Haven’t you brought this on yourself, in that you have forsaken the LORD your God, when he led you by the way?
18Now what do you gain by going to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? Or why do you go on the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?
19“Your own wickedness will correct you, and your backsliding will rebuke you. Know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that my fear is not in you,” says the Lord, GOD of Armies.
20“For long ago I broke off your yoke, and burst your bonds. You said, ‘I will not serve;’ for on every high hill and under every green tree you bowed yourself, playing the prostitute.
21Yet I had planted you a noble vine, a pure and faithful seed. How then have you turned into the degenerate branches of a foreign vine to me?
22For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me,” says the Lord GOD.
23“How can you say, ‘I am not defiled. I have not gone after the Baals’? See your way in the valley. Know what you have done. You are a swift dromedary traversing her ways,
24a wild donkey used to the wilderness, that sniffs the wind in her craving. When she is in heat, who can turn her away? All those who seek her will not weary themselves. In her month, they will find her.
25“Keep your feet from being bare, and your throat from thirst. But you said, ‘It is in vain. No, for I have loved strangers, and I will go after them.’
26As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so the house of Israel is ashamed— they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets,
27who tell wood, ‘You are my father,’ and a stone, ‘You have given birth to me,’ for they have turned their back to me, and not their face, but in the time of their trouble they will say, ‘Arise, and save us!’
28“But where are your gods that you have made for yourselves? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble, for you have as many gods as you have towns, O Judah.
29“Why will you contend with me? You all have transgressed against me,” says the LORD.
30“I have struck your children in vain. They received no correction. Your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
31Generation, consider the LORD’s word. Have I been a wilderness to Israel? Or a land of thick darkness? Why do my people say, ‘We have broken loose. We will come to you no more’?
32“Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? Yet my people have forgotten me for days without number.
33How well you prepare your way to seek love! Therefore you have even taught the wicked women your ways.
34Also the blood of the souls of the innocent poor is found in your skirts. You didn’t find them breaking in, but it is because of all these things.
35“Yet you said, ‘I am innocent. Surely his anger has turned away from me.’ “Behold, I will judge you, because you say, ‘I have not sinned.’
36Why do you go about so much to change your ways? You will be ashamed of Egypt also, as you were ashamed of Assyria.
37You will also leave that place with your hands on your head; for the LORD has rejected those in whom you trust, and you won’t prosper with them.
