Dijeron los hombres de Efraím a Gedeón: “¿Qué es esto que has hecho con nosotros, eso de no llamarnos cuando saliste a combatir contra Madián?” Y se querellaron reciamente contra él.

Y LOS de Ephraim le dijeron: ¿Qué es esto que has hecho con nosotros, no llamándonos cuando ibas á la guerra contra Madián? Y reconviniéronlo fuertemente.

And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.

The men of Ephraim said to him, “Why have you treated us this way, that you didn’t call us when you went to fight with Midian?” They rebuked him sharply.

Les respondió: “¿Qué he hecho yo que se pueda comparar con lo vuestro? ¿No es mejor la rebusca de Efraím que la vendimia de Abiéser?

A los cuales él respondió: ¿Qué he hecho yo ahora como vosotros? ¿No es el rebusco de Ephraim mejor que la vendimia de Abiezer?

And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abi-ezer?

He said to them, “What have I now done in comparison with you? Isn’t the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?

En vuestras manos ha entregado Dios a los príncipes de Madián, Oreb y Zeeb. ¿Qué he hecho yo que se pueda comparar con lo vuestro?” Con esta respuesta se calmó la ira que contra él habían concebido.

Dios ha entregado en vuestras manos á Oreb y á Zeeb, príncipes de Madián: ¿y qué pude yo hacer como vosotros? Entonces el enojo de ellos contra él se aplacó, luego que él habló esta palabra.

God hath delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their anger was abated toward him, when he had said that.

Gedeón llegó al Jordán, y lo cruzó con los trescientos hombres que tenía consigo, cansados, pero prosiguiendo la persecución.

And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.

He said to the men of Succoth, “Please give loaves of bread to the people who follow me; for they are faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of Midian.”

Contestaron los jefes de Sucot: “¿Acaso los puños de Zébah y Salmaná están ya en tu mano para que demos pan a tu tropa?”

Y los principales de Succoth respondieron: ¿Está ya la mano de Zeba y Zalmunna en tu mano, para que hayamos nosotros de dar pan á tu ejército?

And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thine army?

The princes of Succoth said, “Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your army?”

Gedeón respondió: “Por eso, cuando entregue Yahvé a Zébah y a Salmaná en mi mano, azotaré vuestras carnes con espinas del desierto y con cardos.”

Y Gedeón dijo: Pues cuando Jehová hubiere entregado en mi mano á Zeba y á Zalmunna, yo trillaré vuestra carne con espinas y abrojos del desierto.

And Gideon said, Therefore when the LORD hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.

De allí subió a Fanuel y les habló de la misma manera; mas los hombres de Fanuel le respondieron del mismo modo que los de Sucot.

Y de allí subió á Penuel, y hablóles las mismas palabras. Y los de Penuel le respondieron como habían respondido los de Succoth.

And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.

Dijo también a los hombres de Fanuel: “Cuando vuelva yo en paz derribaré esta torre.”

Zébah y Salmaná estaban en Carcor, y su ejército con ellos, unos quince mil hombres, el resto de todo aquel ejército de los hijos del Oriente, habiendo perecido ya ciento veinte mil hombres que llevaban espada.

Y Zeba y Zalmunna estaban en Carcor, y con ellos su ejército de como quince mil hombres, todos los que habían quedado de todo el campo de los orientales: y los muertos habían sido ciento veinte mil hombres que sacaban espada.

Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.

Gedeón subió por el camino de los nómadas, al oriente de Noba y Jegbaá, y derrotó el campamento, pues el ejército, no temía peligro.

Y subiendo Gedeón hacia los que habitaban en tiendas, á la parte oriental de Noba y de Jogbea, hirió el campo, porque estaba el ejército sin recelo.

And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host: for the host was secure.

Huyeron Zébah y Salmaná; más él, en la persecución prendió a los dos reyes de Madián, Zébah y Salmaná, e hizo temblar a todo su ejército.

Y huyendo Zeba y Zalmunna, él los siguió; y tomados los dos reyes de Madián, Zeba y Zalmunna, espantó á todo el ejército.

prendió a un muchacho de los habitantes de Sucot. Le interrogó, y este le apuntó los nombres de los jefes de Sucot y sus ancianos, setenta y siete hombres.

Y tomó un mozo de los de Succoth, y preguntándole, él le dió por escrito los principales de Succoth y sus ancianos, setenta y siete varones.

And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men.

Llegado a los hombres de Sucot dijo Gedeón: “Ved aquí a Zébah y Salmaná con motivo de los cuales me zaheristeis diciendo: «¿Acaso los puños de Zébah y Salmaná están ya en tu mano, para que demos pan a tus hombres cansados?»”

Y entrando á los de Succoth, dijo: He aquí á Zeba y á Zalmunna, sobre los cuales me zaheristeis, diciendo: ¿Está ya la mano de Zeba y de Zalmunna en tu mano, para que demos nosotros pan á tus hombres cansados?

And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary?

He came to the men of Succoth, and said, “See Zebah and Zalmunna, concerning whom you taunted me, saying, ‘Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your men who are weary?’”

Tomó entonces a los ancianos de la ciudad, y espinas del desierto y cardos, y con estos dio una lección a los hombres de Sucot.

Y tomó á los ancianos de la ciudad, y espinas y abrojos del desierto, y castigó con ellos á los de Succoth.

And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.

Arrasó también la torre de Fanuel, y dio muerte a los hombres de la ciudad.

A Zébah y a Salmaná les dijo: “¿Cómo eran los hombres que matasteis en el Tabor?” Contestaron: “Como tú, así eran ellos; cada uno parecía hijo de un rey.”

Luego dijo á Zeba y á Zalmunna: ¿Qué manera de hombres tenían aquellos que matasteis en Tabor? Y ellos respondieron: Como tú, tales eran aquellos ni más ni menos, que parecían hijos de rey.

Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.

Then he said to Zebah and Zalmunna, “What kind of men were they whom you killed at Tabor?” They answered, “They were like you. They all resembled the children of a king.”

Replicó Gedeón: “Eran mis hermanos, los hijos de mi misma madre. ¡Vive Yahvé, que no os mataría, si les hubieses conservado la vida!”

Y él dijo: Mis hermanos eran, hijos de mi madre: ¡Vive Jehová, que si los hubierais guardado en vida, yo no os mataría!

And he said, They were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD liveth, if ye had saved them alive, I would not slay you.

He said, “They were my brothers, the sons of my mother. As the LORD lives, if you had saved them alive, I would not kill you.”

Luego dijo a Jéter, su primogénito: “¡Levántate, mátalos!” Pero el joven no sacó la espada, por temor, siendo como era aún joven.

Y dijo á Jether su primogénito: Levántate, y mátalos. Mas el joven no desenvainó su espada, porque tenía temor; que aun era muchacho.

And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth.

He said to Jether his firstborn, “Get up and kill them!” But the youth didn’t draw his sword; for he was afraid, because he was yet a youth.

Entonces dijeron Zébah y Salmaná: “Levántate tú y danos el golpe; porque como es el hombre, así es su fuerza.” Se levantó Gedeón y mató a Zébah y a Salmaná y tomó las lunetas que se hallaban al cuello de sus camellos.

Entonces dijo Zeba y Zalmunna: Levántate tú, y mátanos; porque como es el varón, tal es su valentía. Y Gedeón se levantó, y mató á Zeba y á Zalmunna; y tomó los adornos de lunetas que sus camellos traían al cuello.

Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels’ necks.

Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, “You rise and fall on us; for as the man is, so is his strength.” Gideon arose, and killed Zebah and Zalmunna, and took the crescents that were on their camels’ necks.

Los hombres de Israel dijeron a Gedeón: “Reina tú sobre nosotros, tú, tu hijo, y los hijos de tu hijo, ya que nos has librado del poder de Madián.”

Y los Israelitas dijeron á Gedeón: Sé nuestro señor, tú, y tu hijo, y tu nieto; pues que nos has librado de mano de Madián.

Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.

Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, “Rule over us, both you, your son, and your son’s son also; for you have saved us out of the hand of Midian.”

Gedeón les respondió: “No reinaré yo sobre vosotros, ni reinará mi hijo sobre vosotros. Yahvé sea quien reine sobre vosotros.”

Mas Gedeón respondió: No seré señor sobre vosotros, ni mi hijo os señoreará: Jehová será vuestro Señor.

And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall rule over you.

Gideon said to them, “I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you. The LORD shall rule over you.”

Y les añadió Gedeón: “Voy a pediros una cosa, y es que me dé cada cual un zarcillo de su despojo”; pues (los enemigos) llevaban zarcillos de oro por ser ismaelitas.

Y díjoles Gedeón: Deseo haceros una petición, que cada uno me dé los zarcillos de su despojo. (Porque traían zarcillos de oro, que eran Ismaelitas.)

And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.)

Ellos respondieron: “Con mucho gusto te lo daremos”. Tendieron pues, un manto, y cada uno echó allí un zarcillo de su botín.

Y ellos respondieron: De buena gana los daremos. Y tendiendo una ropa de vestir, echó allí cada uno los zarcillos de su despojo.

And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey.

Y fue el peso de los zarcillos de oro que había pedido, de mil setecientos siclos de oro; sin contar las lunetas y pendientes, ni los vestidos de púrpura que los reyes de Madián llevaban, ni los collares que se hallaban al cuello de sus camellos.

And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels’ necks.

De esto hizo Gedeón un efod, y lo depositó en su ciudad, en Ofrá; y todo Israel cometía allí idolatría con ese (efod), lo cual vino a ser un lazo para Gedeón y su casa.

Y Gedeón hizo de ellos un ephod, el cual hizo guardar en su ciudad de Ophra: y todo Israel fornicó tras de ese ephod en aquel lugar; y fué por tropiezo á Gedeón y á su casa.

And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.

Así fue humillado Madián ante los hijos de Israel, y no volvió más a levantar cabeza. Y tuvo el país en los días de Gedeón un descanso de cuarenta años.

Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.

Murió Gedeón, hijo de Joás, en buena vejez, y fue enterrado en la sepultura de su padre Joás, en Ofrá de los hijos de Abiéser.

No se acordaron los hijos de Israel de Yahvé su Dios, que los había librado del poder de todos sus enemigos a la redonda.

Tampoco usaron de piedad con la casa de Jerobaal- Gedeón, por todo el bien que él había hecho a Israel.

Ni hicieron misericordia con la casa de Jerobaal Gedeón, conforme á todo el bien que él había hecho á Israel.

Neither shewed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely, Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shewed unto Israel.
