1Et l'Éternel me dit : Trouve-toi une grande table et y écris en caractères vulgaires : « Pillage prompt, proie subite. »
2Je dus aussi me trouver des témoins dignes de foi, Urie le sacrificateur, et Zacharie, fils de Barachie.
3Et je m'approchai de la prophétesse, et elle conçut et enfanta un fils ; et l'Éternel me dit : Donne-lui pour nom Pillage-prompt-proie-subite.
4Car, avant que l'enfant sache dire : Mon père et ma mère, on portera les richesses de Damas et le pillage de Samarie devant le roi d'Assyrie.
5Et l'Éternel me parla encore et me dit :
6Parce que ce peuple dédaigne les eaux de Siloë dont le courant est doux, et se réjouit à la vue de Retsin et du fils de Remalia,
7pour cela, voici, le Seigneur fera avancer contre vous les puissantes et grandes eaux du fleuve (le roi d'Assyrie et toute sa magnificence), et il s'élèvera au-dessus de son lit, et passera par-dessus toutes ses rives,
8et il pénétrera en Juda, il débordera et inondera, à hauteur d'homme il atteindra, et le déploiement de ses ailes remplira dans toute son étendue ton pays, ô Immanuel !
9Peuples, grondez ! mais soyez effrayés ! entendez-le, vous tous, habitants des terres reculées, équipez-vous ! mais soyez effrayés ! équipez-vous ! mais soyez effrayés !
10Formez un plan ! et il sera déjoué ; annoncez un projet ! et il sera sans effet, car Dieu est avec nous.
11Car ainsi me parla l'Éternel, quand sa main me saisit, et qu'il m'avertit de ne pas m'engager dans la voie de ce peuple, en me disant :
12N'appelez pas ligue tout ce que ce peuple appelle ligue, et ne craignez pas ce qu'il craint, et ne répandez pas l'effroi !
13L'Éternel des armées, lui, honorez-le comme Saint ! qu'il soit l'objet de votre crainte, et soit celui de votre frayeur :
14et Il sera un sanctuaire, et une pierre de scandale, et une roche d'achoppement pour les deux maisons d'Israël, un lacs et un piège pour les habitants de Jérusalem ;
15et plusieurs y trébucheront et tomberont, et seront écrasés, et enlacés et pris. –
16Plie la déclaration, scelle la révélation avec l'aide de mes disciples !
17Et je compte sur l'Éternel, qui cache sa face à la maison de Jacob, et j'espère en lui.
18Voici, moi et les enfants que m'a donnés l'Éternel, nous sommes des signes et des figures en Israël de par l'Éternel des armées, qui réside sur la montagne de Sion.
19Et si l'on vous dit : Consultez les évocateurs et les devins qui marmottent et murmurent ! dites : Un peuple ne consulterait-il pas son Dieu ? en faveur des vivants s'adressera-t-il aux morts ?
20« A la loi et au témoignage ! » S'ils ne tiennent pas ce langage, pour eux il n'y aura pas d'aurore.
21Et ils erreront dans le pays, accablés et affamés ; et ayant faim ils s'irriteront et maudiront leur Roi et leur Dieu ; et ils tourneront leurs yeux en haut
22et ils regarderont sur la terre, et voici, c'est détresse et obscurité, ténèbres angoissantes ; et dans la nuit ils sont refoulés.

1Y DÍJOME Jehová: Tómate un gran volumen, y escribe en él en estilo de hombre tocante á Maher-salal-hash-baz.
2Y junté conmigo por testigos fieles á Urías sacerdote, y á Zacarías hijo de Jeberechîas.
3Y juntéme con la profetisa, la cual concibió, y parió un hijo. Y díjome Jehová: Ponle por nombre Maher-salal-hash-baz.
4Porque antes que el niño sepa decir, Padre mío, y Madre mía, será quitada la fuerza de Damasco y los despojos de Samaria, en la presencia del rey de Asiria.
5Otra vez tornó Jehová á hablarme, diciendo:
6Por cuanto desechó este pueblo las aguas de Siloé, que corren mansamente, y holgóse con Rezín y con el hijo de Remalías;
7He aquí por tanto que el Señor hace subir sobre ellos aguas de ríos, impetuosas y muchas, á saber, al rey de Asiria con todo su poder; el cual subirá sobre todos sus ríos, y pasará sobre todas sus riberas:
8Y pasando hasta Judá, inundará, y sobrepujará, y llegará hasta la garganta; y extendiendo sus alas, llenará la anchura de tu tierra, oh Emmanuel.
9Juntaos, pueblos, y seréis quebrantados; oid todos los que sois de lejanas tierras: poneos á punto, y seréis quebrantados; apercibíos, y seréis quebrantados.
10Tomad consejo, y será deshecho; proferid palabra, y no será firme: porque Dios con nosotros.
11Porque Jehová me dijo de esta manera con mano fuerte, y enseñóme que no caminase por el camino de este pueblo, diciendo:
12No digáis, Conjuración, á todas las cosas á que este pueblo dice, Conjuración; ni temáis lo que temen, ni tengáis miedo.
13A Jehová de los ejércitos, á él santificad: sea él vuestro temor, y él sea vuestro miedo.
14Entonces él será por santuario; mas á las dos casas de Israel por piedra para tropezar, y por tropezadero para caer, y por lazo y por red al morador de Jerusalem.
15Y muchos tropezarán entre ellos, y caerán, y serán quebrantados: enredaránse, y serán presos.
16Ata el testimonio, sella la ley entre mis discípulos.
17Esperaré pues á Jehová, el cual escondió su rostro de la casa de Jacob, y á él aguardaré.
18He aquí, yo y los hijos que me dió Jehová, por señales y prodigios en Israel, de parte de Jehová de los ejércitos que mora en el monte de Sión.
19Y si os dijeren: Preguntad á los pythones y á los adivinos, que susurran hablando, responded: ¿No consultará el pueblo á su Dios? ¿Apelará por los vivos á los muertos?
20¡A la ley y al testimonio! Si no dijeren conforme á esto, es porque no les ha amanecido.
21Y pasarán por él fatigados y hambrientos, y acontecerá que teniendo hambre, se enojarán y maldecirán á su rey y á su Dios, levantando el rostro en alto.
22Y mirarán á la tierra, y he aquí tribulación y tiniebla, oscuridad y angustia; y serán sumidos en las tinieblas.

1Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man’s pen concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz.
2And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.
3And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz.
4For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.
5The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,
6Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son;
7Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
8And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.
9Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.
10Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.
11For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,
12Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.
13Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
14And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
15And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
16Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
17And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
18Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
19And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
20To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
21And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.
22And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.
World English Bible
1The LORD said to me, “Take a large tablet, and write on it with a man’s pen, ‘For Maher Shalal Hash Baz’;
2and I will take for myself faithful witnesses to testify: Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”
3I went to the prophetess, and she conceived, and bore a son. Then the LORD said to me, “Call his name ‘Maher Shalal Hash Baz.’
4For before the child knows how to say, ‘My father’ and ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria will be carried away by the king of Assyria.”
5The LORD spoke to me yet again, saying,
6“Because this people has refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son;
7now therefore, behold, the Lord brings upon them the mighty flood waters of the River: the king of Assyria and all his glory. It will come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks.
8It will sweep onward into Judah. It will overflow and pass through. It will reach even to the neck. The stretching out of its wings will fill the width of your land, O Immanuel.
9Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Listen, all you from far countries: dress for battle, and be shattered! Dress for battle, and be shattered!
10Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand, for God is with us.”
11For the LORD spoke this to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,
12“Don’t call a conspiracy all that this people call a conspiracy. Don’t fear their threats or be terrorized.
13The LORD of Armies is who you must respect as holy. He is the one you must fear. He is the one you must dread.
14He will be a sanctuary, but for both houses of Israel, he will be a stumbling stone and a rock that makes them fall. For the people of Jerusalem, he will be a trap and a snare.
15Many will stumble over it, fall, be broken, be snared, and be captured.”
16Wrap up the covenant. Seal the law among my disciples.
17I will wait for the LORD, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
18Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of Armies, who dwells in Mount Zion.
19When they tell you, “Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter,” shouldn’t a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
20Turn to the law and to the covenant! If they don’t speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.
21They will pass through it, very distressed and hungry. It will happen that when they are hungry, they will worry, and curse their king and their God. They will turn their faces upward,
22then look to the earth and see distress, darkness, and the gloom of anguish. They will be driven into thick darkness.
