1So hat der HERR gesprochen: »Wo ist denn der Scheidebrief eurer Mutter, durch den ich sie verstoßen hätte? Oder wo ist einer unter meinen Gläubigern, an den ich euch verkauft hätte? Nein, um eurer Verschuldungen willen seid ihr verkauft worden, und wegen eurer Übertretungen ist eure Mutter entlassen worden!
2Warum war also kein Mensch da, wenn ich kam? Warum gab mir niemand Antwort, wenn ich rief? Ist mein Arm wirklich zu kurz, um zu erlösen? Oder besitze ich nicht Kraft genug, um zu erretten? Ich lege ja doch das Meer durch mein Schelten trocken und mache Ströme zur Wüste, so daß ihre Fischbrut vor Wassermangel verfault und (ihr Getier) vor Durst stirbt.
3Ich kleide den Himmel in Schwarz und mache Sackleinen zur Hülle für ihn.«
4Gott der HERR hat mir die Zunge von Jüngern verliehen, damit ich den Müden durch Zuspruch aufzurichten wisse; er weckt mich alle Morgen, regt mir das Ohr an, damit ich aufmerke nach Jüngerweise.
5Gott der HERR hat mir das Ohr geöffnet, und ich habe mich nicht gesträubt, bin nicht zurückgewichen.
6Meinen Rücken habe ich denen hingehalten, die mich schlugen; und meine Wangen denen, die mir den Bart rauften; mein Angesicht habe ich vor Beschimpfungen und Speichelwurf nicht verhüllt.
7Doch Gott der HERR hilft mir: darum habe ich mich auch nicht entehrt gefühlt, darum hab ich mein Antlitz hart wie Kieselstein gemacht; ich wußte ja, daß ich nicht beschämt werden würde.
8Ja, nahe ist er mir, der mich gerecht spricht: wer will mit mir rechten? Wir wollen zusammen hintreten! Wer will mir mein Recht streitig machen? Er trete zu mir heran!
9Seht, Gott der HERR hilft mir: wer will mich für schuldig erklären? Fürwahr, sie werden allesamt zerfallen wie ein Kleid: die Motten werden sie fressen!
10Wer unter euch fürchtet den HERRN? Er höre die Stimme seines Knechtes, der in tiefster Finsternis gewandelt ist und, während kein Lichtstrahl ihm glänzte, doch sein Vertrauen auf den Namen des HERRN gesetzt und sich auf seinen Gott gestützt hat.
11Fürwahr, ihr alle seid Leute, die Feuer anfachen und Brandpfeile in Flammen setzen. Fahrt hin in die Flammenglut eures eigenen Feuers und in die Brandpfeile, die ihr in Flammen gesetzt habt! Von meiner Hand wird euch dies widerfahren, daß ihr zur Peinigung daliegen sollt.

1ASÍ dijo Jehová: ¿Qué es de la carta de repudio de vuestra madre, con la cual yo la repudié? ¿ó quiénes son mis acreedores, á quienes os he yo vendido? He aquí que por vuestras maldades sois vendidos, y por vuestras rebeliones fué repudiada vuestra madre:
2Porque vine, y nadie pareció; llamé, y nadie respondió. ¿Ha llegado á acortarse mi mano, para no redimir? ¿no hay en mí poder para librar? He aquí que con mi reprensión hago secar la mar; torno los ríos en desierto, hasta pudrirse sus peces, y morirse de sed por falta de agua.
3Visto de oscuridad los cielos, y torno como saco su cobertura.
4El Señor Jehová me dió lengua de sabios, para saber hablar en sazón palabra al cansado; despertará de mañana, despertaráme de mañana oído, para que oiga como los sabios.
5El Señor Jehová me abrió el oído, y yo no fuí rebelde, ni me torné atrás.
6Dí mi cuerpo á los heridores, y mis mejillas á los que me mesaban el cabello: no escondí mi rostro de las injurias y esputos.
7Porque el Señor Jehová me ayudará; por tanto no me avergoncé: por eso puse mi rostro como un pedernal, y sé que no seré avergonzado.
8Cercano está de mí el que me justifica; ¿quién contenderá conmigo? juntémonos. ¿Quién es el adversario de mi causa? acérquese á mí.
9He aquí que el Señor Jehová me ayudará; ¿quién hay que me condene? He aquí que todos ellos como ropa de vestir se envejecerán; los comerá polilla.
10¿Quién hay entre vosotros que teme á Jehová, y oye la voz de su siervo? el que anda en tinieblas y carece de luz, confíe en el nombre de Jehová, y apóyese en su Dios.
11He aquí que todos vosotros encendéis fuego, y estáis cercados de centellas: andad á la luz de vuestro fuego, y á las centellas que encendisteis. De mi mano os vendrá esto; en dolor seréis sepultados.

1Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
2Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.
3I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
4The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
5The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
6I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
7For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
8He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.
9Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
10Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.
11Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
World English Bible
1The LORD says, “Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, with which I have put her away? Or to which of my creditors have I sold you? Behold, you were sold for your iniquities, and your mother was put away for your transgressions.
2Why, when I came, was there no one? When I called, why was there no one to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it can’t redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea. I make the rivers a wilderness. Their fish stink because there is no water, and die of thirst.

4The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him who is weary. He awakens morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.
5The Lord GOD has opened my ear. I was not rebellious. I have not turned back.
6I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair. I didn’t hide my face from shame and spitting.
7For the Lord GOD will help me. Therefore I have not been confounded. Therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I won’t be disappointed.
8He who justifies me is near. Who will bring charges against me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me.
9Behold, the Lord GOD will help me! Who is he who will condemn me? Behold, they will all grow old like a garment. The moths will eat them up.
10Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness and has no light, let him trust in the LORD’s name, and rely on his God.
11Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who adorn yourselves with torches around yourselves, walk in the flame of your fire, and among the torches that you have kindled. You will have this from my hand: you will lie down in sorrow.
