Isaías 33

1Malheur à toi qui fourrages, et qui n’as point été fourragé, et à toi, qui agis avec perfidie, et envers qui on n’a point usé de perfidie ; sitôt que tu auras achevé de fourrager, tu seras fourragé ; et sitôt que tu auras achevé d’agir avec perfidie, on te traitera avec perfidie.
2Eternel aie pitié de nous ; nous nous sommes attendus à toi ; sois leur bras dès le matin, et notre délivrance au temps de la détresse.
3Les peuples se sont écartés à cause du son bruyant, les nations se sont dispersées à cause que tu t’es élevé.
4Et votre butin sera ramassé comme l’on ramasse les vermisseaux, on sautera sur lui comme sautellent les sauterelles.
5L’Eternel s’en va être exalté, car il habite en un lieu haut élevé ; il remplira Sion de jugement et de justice.
6Et la certitude de ta durée, et la force de tes délivrances sera la sagesse et la science ; la crainte de l’Eternel sera son trésor.
7Voici, leurs hérauts crient dehors, et les messagers de paix pleurent amèrement.
8Les chemins ont été réduits en désolation, les passants ne passent plus par les sentiers ; il a rompu l’alliance, il a rejeté les villes, il ne fait pas même cas des hommes.
9On mène deuil ; la terre languit, le Liban est sec et coupé ; Saron est devenu comme une lande ; et Basan et Carmel ont été ébranlés.
10Maintenant je me lèverai, dira l’Eternel, maintenant je serai exalté, maintenant je serai élevé.
11Vous concevrez de la balle, et vous enfanterez du chaume ; votre souffle vous dévorera comme le feu.
12Et les peuples seront comme des fourneaux de chaux ; ils seront brûlés au feu comme des épines coupées.
13Vous qui êtes loin, écoutez ce que j’ai fait ; et vous qui êtes près, connaissez ma force.
14Les pécheurs seront effrayés dans Sion, et le tremblement saisira les hypocrites, tellement qu’ils diront ; Qui est-ce d’entre nous qui pourra séjourner avec le feu dévorant ? Qui est-ce d’entre nous qui pourra séjourner avec les ardeurs éternelles ?
15Celui qui observe la justice, et qui profère des choses droites ; celui qui rejette le gain déshonnête d’extorsion , et qui secoue ses mains pour ne prendre point de présents ; celui qui bouche ses oreilles pour n’ouïr point le sang, et qui ferme ses yeux pour ne voir point le mal ;
16Celui-là habitera en des lieux haut élevés ; des forteresses assises sur des rochers seront sa haute retraite ; son pain lui sera donné, et ses eaux ne lui manqueront point.
17Tes yeux contempleront le Roi en sa beauté ; et ils regarderont la terre éloignée.
18Ton coeur méditera-t-il la frayeur ? en disant ; où est le secrétaire ? où est celui qui pèse ? où est celui qui tient le compte des tours ?
19Tu ne verras point le peuple fier, peuple de langage inconnu, qu’on n’entend point ; et de langue bégayante, qu’on ne comprend point.
20Regarde Sion, la ville de nos fêtes solennelles, que tes yeux voient Jérusalem, séjour tranquille, tabernacle qui ne sera point transporté, et dont les pieux ne seront jamais ôtés, ni aucun de ses cordeaux ne sera rompu.
21Car c’est là vraiment que l’Eternel nous est magnifique ; c’est le lieu des fleuves, et des rivières très larges, dans lequel n’ira point de navire à rame, et où aucun gros navire ne passera point.
22Parce que l’Eternel est notre Juge, l’Eternel est notre Législateur, l’Eternel est notre Roi ; c’est lui qui vous sauvera.
23Tes cordages sont lâchés, et ainsi ils ne tiendront point ferme leur mât, et on n’étendra point la voile ; alors la dépouille d’un grand butin sera partagée ; les boiteux même pilleront le butin.
24Et celui qui fera sa demeure dans la maison, ne dira point ; je suis malade ; le peuple qui habitera en elle, sera déchargé d’iniquité.

1¡AY de ti, el que saqueas, y nunca fuiste saqueado; el que haces deslealtad, bien que nadie contra ti la hizo! Cuando acabares de saquear, serás tú saqueado; y cuando acabares de hacer deslealtad, haráse contra ti.
2Oh Jehová, ten misericordia de nosotros, á ti hemos esperado: tú, brazo de ellos en la mañana, sé también nuestra salud en tiempo de la tribulación.
3Los pueblos huyeron á la voz del estruendo; las gentes fueron esparcidas por tus levantamientos.
4Mas vuestra presa será cogida como cuando cogen las orugas: correrá sobre ellos como de una á otra parte corren las langostas.
5Será ensalzado Jehová, el cual mora en las alturas: llenó á Sión de juicio y de justicia.
6Y reinarán en tus tiempos la sabiduría y la ciencia, y la fuerza de la salvación: el temor de Jehová será su tesoro.
7He aquí que sus embajadores darán voces afuera; los mensajeros de paz llorarán amargamente.
8Las calzadas están deshechas, cesaron los caminantes: anulado ha la alianza, aborreció las ciudades, tuvo en nada los hombres.
9Enlutóse, enfermó la tierra: el Líbano se avergonzó, y fué cortado: hase tornado Sarón como desierto; y Basán y Carmel fueron sacudidos.
10Ahora me levantaré, dice Jehová; ahora seré ensalzado, ahora seré engrandecido.
11Concebisteis hojarascas, aristas pariréis: el soplo de vuestro fuego os consumirá.
12Y los pueblos serán como cal quemada: como espinas cortadas serán quemados con fuego.
13Oid, los que estáis lejos, lo que he hecho; y vosotros los cercanos, conoced mi potencia.
14Los pecadores se asombraron en Sión, espanto sobrecogió á los hipócritas. ¿Quién de nosotros morará con el fuego consumidor? ¿quién de nosotros habitará con las llamas eternas?
15El que camina en justicia, y habla lo recto; el que aborrece la ganancia de violencias, el que sacude sus manos por no recibir cohecho, el que tapa su oreja por no oir sangres, el que cierra sus ojos por no ver cosa mala:
16Este habitará en las alturas: fortalezas de rocas serán su lugar de acogimiento; se le dará su pan, y sus aguas serán ciertas.
17Tus ojos verán al Rey en su hermosura; verán la tierra que está lejos.
18Tu corazón imaginará el espanto, y dirá: ¿Qué es del escriba? ¿qué del pesador? ¿qué del que pone en lista las casas más insignes?
19No verás á aquel pueblo espantable, pueblo de lengua oscura de entender, de lengua tartamuda que no comprendas.
20Mira á Sión, ciudad de nuestras solemnidades: tus ojos verán á Jerusalem, morada de quietud, tienda que no será desarmada, ni serán arrancadas sus estacas, ni ninguna de sus cuerdas será rota.
21Porque ciertamente allí será Jehová para con nosotros fuerte, lugar de ríos, de arroyos muy anchos, por el cual no andará galera, ni por él pasará grande navío.
22Porque Jehová es nuestro juez, Jehová es nuestro legislador, Jehová es nuestro Rey, él mismo nos salvará.
23Tus cuerdas se aflojaron; no afirmaron su mástil, ni entesaron la vela: repartiráse entonces presa de muchos despojos: los cojos arrebatarán presa.
24No dirá el morador: Estoy enfermo: el pueblo que morare en ella será absuelto de pecado.

1Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.
2O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
3At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered.
4And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.
5The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.
6And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.
7Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.
8The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man.
9The earth mourneth and languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits.
10Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.
11Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you.
12And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.
13Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.
14The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
15He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
16He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.
17Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
18Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?
19Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.
20Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.
21But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.
22For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
23Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey.
24And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.
World English Bible
1Woe to you who destroy, but you weren’t destroyed, and who betray, but nobody betrayed you! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed; and when you have finished betrayal, you will be betrayed.
2LORD, be gracious to us. We have waited for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
3At the noise of the thunder, the peoples have fled. When you lift yourself up, the nations are scattered.
4Your plunder will be gathered as the caterpillar gathers. Men will leap on it as locusts leap.
5The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high. He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
6There will be stability in your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the LORD is your treasure.
7Behold, their valiant ones cry outside; the ambassadors of peace weep bitterly.
8The highways are desolate. The traveling man ceases. The covenant is broken. He has despised the cities. He doesn’t respect man.
9The land mourns and languishes. Lebanon is confounded and withers away. Sharon is like a desert, and Bashan and Carmel are stripped bare.
10“Now I will arise,” says the LORD. “Now I will lift myself up. Now I will be exalted.
11You will conceive chaff. You will give birth to stubble. Your breath is a fire that will devour you.
12The peoples will be like the burning of lime, like thorns that are cut down and burned in the fire.
13Hear, you who are far off, what I have done; and, you who are near, acknowledge my might.”
14The sinners in Zion are afraid. Trembling has seized the godless ones. Who among us can live with the devouring fire? Who among us can live with everlasting burning?
15He who walks righteously and speaks blamelessly, he who despises the gain of oppressions, who gestures with his hands, refusing to take a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil—
16he will dwell on high. His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks. His bread will be supplied. His waters will be sure.
17Your eyes will see the king in his beauty. They will see a distant land.
18Your heart will meditate on the terror. Where is he who counted? Where is he who weighed? Where is he who counted the towers?
19You will no longer see the fierce people, a people of a deep speech that you can’t comprehend, with a strange language that you can’t understand.
20Look at Zion, the city of our appointed festivals. Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet habitation, a tent that won’t be removed. Its stakes will never be plucked up, nor will any of its cords be broken.
21But there the LORD will be with us in majesty, a place of wide rivers and streams, in which no galley with oars will go, neither will any gallant ship pass by there.
22For the LORD is our judge. The LORD is our lawgiver. The LORD is our king. He will save us.
23Your rigging is untied. They couldn’t strengthen the foot of their mast. They couldn’t spread the sail. Then the prey of a great plunder was divided. The lame took the prey.
24The inhabitant won’t say, “I am sick.” The people who dwell therein will be forgiven their iniquity.
