1No tienes que regocijarte tanto, ¡oh Israel!, no te ocupes en danzas, como hacen los gentiles; porque tú has abandonado a tu Dios: has codiciado como recompensa de tu idolatría las eras llenas de trigo.
2Pero ni la era, ni el lagar les darán con qué sustentarse; y la viña dejará burladas sus esperanzas.
3No morarán en la tierra del Señor. Efraín se acogerá a Egipto, y comerá entre los asirios manjares impuros.
4No ofrecerán libaciones de vino al Señor, ni le serán gratas sus ofrendas; sus sacrificios serán como los convites de los funerales, cualquiera que en ellos comiere, quedará contaminado. Guárdense para sí su inmundo pan; no entre en el templo del Señor hostia impura.
5¿Qué es lo que entonces haréis en el día de la solemnidad, en el día de la fiesta del Señor?
6Yo los veo escapar ya del asolado país. Egipto los recogerá; el país de Memfis les dará sepultura. Sobre sus codiciadas riquezas crecerá la ortiga, y se verán nacer abrojos en sus habitaciones.
7Vendrán los días de la visita del Señor, los días del castigo llegarán luego. Sepas, ¡oh Israel!, que tus profetas son unos fatuos, esos que se creen varones espirituales son unos insensatos; permitiéndolo Dios en pena de tus muchas iniquidades y de la suma necedad tuya.
8El sacerdote, el centinela de Efraín para con mi Dios, el profeta se ha hecho un lazo tendido en todos los caminos para ruina del pueblo, es objeto de odio en el templo de su Dios.
9Han pecado enormemente, como en los días aquellos pecaron los gabaonitas. Se acordará el Señor de la perversidad de ellos, y castigará sus maldades.
10Como uvas en árido desierto, con tanto gusto tomé yo a Israel; como los primeros frutos de las altas ramas de la higuera, así miré a sus padres. Mas ellos se fueron al templo de Beelfegor, y se enajenaron de mí, para ignominia suya, haciéndose execrables como las cosas que amaron.
11Desapareció la gloria de Efraín como un pájaro que ha tomado el vuelo; perecerán sus hijos apenas hayan nacido; desde el seno materno, o desde su misma concepción.
12Y aun cuando llegaren a criar sus hijos, yo haré que queden sin ellos en este mundo. ¡Ay de ellos cuando yo llegue a abandonarlos enteramente!
13Efraín, cual yo la vi, se parecía a la rica Tiro, situada en hermosísimo país; mas Efraín entregará sus propios hijos en manos del mortífero conquistador.
14Dales, ¡oh Señor!..., pero, ¿y qué les darás? Dales vientres estériles y pechos sin leche.
15El colmo de su maldad fue allá en Galgal; allí les tomé yo aversión; yo los echaré de mi casa por causa de sus perversas obras; nunca más los amaré; todos sus príncipes son unos apóstatas.
16Efraín ha sido herido de muerte; seca está su raíz, no producirán ellos más fruto; y si tuvieren hijos, yo haré morir los más amados de sus entrañas.
17Los desechará mi Dios, porque no lo han escuchado, y andarán prófugos entre las naciones.

1NO te alegres, oh Israel, hasta saltar de gozo como los pueblos, pues has fornicado apartándote de tu Dios: amaste salario por todas las eras de trigo.
2La era y el lagar no los mantendrán; les fallará el mosto.
3No quedarán en la tierra de Jehová, sino que volverá Ephraim á Egipto, y á Asiria, donde comerán vianda inmunda.
4No derramarán vino á Jehová, ni él tomará contento en sus sacrificios; como pan de enlutados les serán á ellos: todos los que comieren de él, serán inmundos. Será pues el pan de ellos para sí mismos; no entrará en la casa de Jehová.
5¿Qué haréis el día de la solemnidad, y el día de la fiesta de Jehová?
6Porque, he aquí se fueron ellos á causa de la destrucción: Egipto los recogerá, Memphis los enterrará: espino poseerá por heredad lo deseable de su plata, ortiga crecerá en sus moradas.
7Vinieron los días de la visitación, vinieron los días de la paga; conocerálo Israel: necio el profeta, insensato el varón de espíritu, á causa de la multitud de tu maldad, y grande odio.
8Atalaya es Ephraim para con mi Dios: el profeta es lazo de cazador en todos sus caminos, odio en la casa de su Dios.
9Llegaron al profundo, corrompiéronse, como en los días de Gabaa: ahora se acordará de su iniquidad; visitará su pecado.
10Como uvas en el desierto hallé á Israel: como la fruta temprana de la higuera en su principio vi á vuestros padres. Ellos entraron á Baal-peor, y se apartaron para vergüenza, é hiciéronse abominables como aquello que amaron.
11Ephraim, cual ave volará su gloria desde el nacimiento, aun desde el vientre y desde la concepción.
12Y si llegaren á grandes sus hijos, quitarélos de entre los hombres, porque ¡ay de ellos también, cuando de ellos me apartare!
13Ephraim, según veo, es semejante á Tiro, asentada en lugar delicioso: mas Ephraim sacará sus hijos al matador.
14Dales, oh Jehová, lo que les has de dar: dales matriz expeliente, y enjutos pechos.
15Toda la maldad de ellos fué en Gilgal; allí, pues, les tomé aversión: por la malicia de sus obras echarélos de mi casa; no los amaré más; todos sus príncipes son desleales.
16Ephraim fué herido, secóse su cepa, no hará más fruto: aunque engendren, yo mataré lo deseable de su vientre.
17Mi Dios los desechará, porque ellos no le oyeron; y andarán errantes entre las gentes.

1Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.
2The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.
3They shall not dwell in the LORD’s land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.
4They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.
5What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?
6For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.
7The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.
8The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.
9They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baal-peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.
11As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.
12Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!
13Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.
14Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
15All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.
16Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.
17My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
World English Bible
1Don’t rejoice, Israel, to jubilation like the nations; for you were unfaithful to your God. You love the wages of a prostitute at every grain threshing floor.
2The threshing floor and the wine press won’t feed them, and the new wine will fail her.
3They won’t dwell in the LORD’s land; but Ephraim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food in Assyria.
4They won’t pour out wine offerings to the LORD, neither will they be pleasing to him. Their sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat of it will be polluted; for their bread will be for their appetite. It will not come into the LORD’s house.
5What will you do in the day of solemn assembly, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?
6For, behold, when they flee destruction, Egypt will gather them up. Memphis will bury them. Nettles will possess their pleasant things of silver. Thorns will be in their tents.
7The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Israel will consider the prophet to be a fool, and the man who is inspired to be insane, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great.
8A prophet watches over Ephraim with my God. A fowler’s snare is on all of his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.
9They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will punish them for their sins.
10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at its first season; but they came to Baal Peor, and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, and became abominable like that which they loved.
11As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. There will be no birth, no one with child, and no conception.
12Though they bring up their children, yet I will bereave them, so that not a man shall be left. Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them!
13I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place; but Ephraim will bring out his children to the murderer.
14Give them—LORD what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
15“All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them. Because of the wickedness of their deeds, I will drive them out of my house! I will love them no more. All their princes are rebels.
16Ephraim is struck. Their root has dried up. They will bear no fruit. Even though they give birth, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb.”
17My God will cast them away, because they didn’t listen to him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.
