Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:

pero a partir de hoy, ya no serás el primero, porque me deshonraste al dormir con una de mis mujeres. Eres impetuoso como las fieras ondas del mar.
Corriente como las aguas, no seas el principal; por cuanto subiste al lecho de tu padre: entonces te envileciste, subiendo á mi estrado.
Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
Boiling over like water, you shall not excel, because you went up to your father’s bed, then defiled it. He went up to my couch.

En su secreto no entre mi alma, ni mi honra se junte en su compañía; que en su furor mataron varón, y en su voluntad arrancaron muro.
O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.
My soul, don’t come into their council. My glory, don’t be united to their assembly; for in their anger they killed men. In their self-will they hamstrung cattle.
¡Maldita sea su ira! ¡Maldita sea también su violencia y crueldad! Haré que sus descendientes sean esparcidos por todo el país de Israel.

Judá es como un cachorro de león que se levanta después de comer a su presa. Se pone al acecho como un león o como una leona, ¿quién se atreverá a molestarlo?
Cachorro de león Judá: de la presa subiste, hijo mío: encorvóse, echóse como león, así como león viejo; ¿quién lo despertará?
Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
Judah is a lion’s cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, as a lioness. Who will rouse him up?
El cetro estará en las manos de Judá, y el bastón de gobernante estará en sus pies, hasta que llegue el rey por excelencia, a quien todos los pueblos obedecerán.
No será quitado el cetro de Judá, y el legislador de entre sus piés, hasta que venga Shiloh; y á él se congregarán los pueblos.
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. The obedience of the peoples will be to him.
Atará su burrito en la vid más selecta y lavará su ropa en vino.

Cuando vea la hermosura del paisaje, lo agradable de la tierra, con gusto agachará su hombro para la tarea y se convertirá en un esclavo.
Y vió que el descanso era bueno, y que la tierra era deleitosa; y bajó su hombro para llevar, y sirvió en tributo.
And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
He saw a resting place, that it was good, the land, that it was pleasant. He bows his shoulder to the burden, and becomes a servant doing forced labor.

Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.

»Neftalí es una gacela libre, que tendrá preciosas crías.
Nephtalí, sierva dejada, que dará dichos hermosos.
Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
“Naphtali is a doe set free, who bears beautiful fawns.
»José es un árbol fructífero, es como un árbol junto a una fuente, y sus ramas pasan sobre el muro.
Ramo fructífero José, ramo fructífero junto á fuente, cuyos vástagos se extienden sobre el muro.
Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
“Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.
Gente mala le causa amargura, lo atacan sin piedad y le lanzan flechas.
Y causáronle amargura, y asaeteáronle, y aborreciéronle los archeros:

Pero su arma se mantuvo firme, sus brazos fueron fortalecidos por el Dios poderoso de Jacob, por el que es el Pastor y la Roca de Israel.
Mas su arco quedó en fortaleza, y los brazos de sus manos se corroboraron por las manos del Fuerte de Jacob, (de allí el pastor, y la piedra de Israel,)
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

Las bendiciones de tu padre son más grandes que las bendiciones de mis padres. Estas bendiciones reposarán sobre la cabeza de José hasta el fin de las montañas eternas, por cuanto él es el más importante de sus hermanos.

The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

»Benjamin es como un lobo feroz, que por la mañana devora a su presa, y al atardecer reparte lo que sobra».
Benjamín, lobo arrebatador: á la mañana comerá la presa, y á la tarde repartirá los despojos.

Estas fueron las bendiciones que Israel pronunció sobre sus doce hijos.
Todos estos fueron las doce tribus de Israel: y esto fué lo que su padre les dijo, y bendíjolos; á cada uno por su bendición los bendijo.

En la cueva que está en el campo de Macpela, que está delante de Mamre en la tierra de Canaán, la cual compró Abraham con el mismo campo de Ephrón el Hetheo, para heredad de sepultura.

Cuando Jacob terminó de dar estas instrucciones a sus hijos, se acostó nuevamente, exhaló su último suspiro, y murió.

And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
