José fue a informarle al faraón: “Mi padre y mis hermanos ya salieron de la tierra de Canaán, junto con sus ovejas, sus vacas y todo lo que tienen, y ahora se encuentran en la región de Gosén”.

Y JOSÉ vino, é hizo saber á Faraón, y dijo: Mi padre y mis hermanos, y sus ovejas y sus vacas, con todo lo que tienen, han venido de la tierra de Canaán, y he aquí, están en la tierra de Gosén.

Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

Then Joseph went in and told Pharaoh, and said, “My father and my brothers, with their flocks, their herds, and all that they own, have come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.”

Había escogido a cinco de sus hermanos para presentárselos al faraón.

Y de los postreros de sus hermanos tomó cinco varones, y presentólos delante de Faraón.

And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.

From among his brothers he took five men, and presented them to Pharaoh.

El faraón les preguntó: “¿A qué se dedican?” Ellos le respondieron: “Sus siervos son pastores de ovejas, al igual que nuestros antepasados”.

Y Faraón dijo á sus hermanos: ¿Cuál es vuestro oficio? Y ellos respondieron á Faraón: Pastores de ovejas son tus siervos, así nosotros como nuestros padres.

And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.

Pharaoh said to his brothers, “What is your occupation?” They said to Pharaoh, “Your servants are shepherds, both we, and our fathers.”

Y añadieron: “Hemos venido a vivir como extranjeros en este país, porque el hambre en la tierra de Canaán es tan terrible que ya no hay pastos para los rebaños de sus siervos. Por favor, permítanos usted vivir en la región de Gosén”.

Dijeron además á Faraón: Por morar en esta tierra hemos venido; porque no hay pasto para las ovejas de tus siervos, pues el hambre es grave en la tierra de Canaán: por tanto, te rogamos ahora que habiten tus siervos en la tierra de Gosén.

They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

They also said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live as foreigners in the land, for there is no pasture for your servants’ flocks. For the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. Now therefore, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.”

El faraón le dijo a José: “Tu padre y tus hermanos han venido a reunirse contigo,

Entonces Faraón habló á José, diciendo: Tu padre y tus hermanos han venido á ti;

And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:

Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, “Your father and your brothers have come to you.

y la tierra de Egipto está a tu disposición. Haz que tu padre y tus hermanos vivan en la mejor región del país. Que se establezcan en la región de Gosén. Y si sabes que entre ellos hay hombres capaces, ponlos a cargo de mi propio ganado”.

La tierra de Egipto delante de ti está; en lo mejor de la tierra haz habitar á tu padre y á tus hermanos; habiten en la tierra de Gosén; y si entiendes que hay entre ellos hombres eficaces, ponlos por mayorales del ganado mío.

The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.

The land of Egypt is before you. Make your father and your brothers dwell in the best of the land. Let them dwell in the land of Goshen. If you know any able men among them, then put them in charge of my livestock.”

Después José hizo pasar a su padre Jacob y se lo presentó al faraón, y Jacob bendijo al faraón.

Y José introdujo á su padre, y presentólo delante de Faraón; y Jacob bendijo á Faraón.

And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

El faraón le preguntó a Jacob: “¿Cuántos años tiene usted?”

Y dijo Faraón á Jacob: ¿Cuántos son los días de los años de tu vida?

And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old art thou?

Jacob le respondió: “Mi vida de andar peregrinando ha sido de ciento treinta años. Han sido años pocos y difíciles, y no se comparan con los años que vivieron mis antepasados en sus peregrinaciones”.

Y Jacob respondió á Faraón: Los días de los años de mi peregrinación son ciento treinta años; pocos y malos han sido los días de los años de mi vida, y no han llegado á los días de los años de la vida de mis padres en los días de su peregrinación.

And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The years of my pilgrimage are one hundred thirty years. The days of the years of my life have been few and evil. They have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.”

Jacob volvió a bendecir al faraón y se retiró de su presencia.

Y Jacob bendijo á Faraón, y salióse de delante de Faraón.

José instaló a su padre y a sus hermanos, dándoles propiedades en la mejor región de Egipto, en la tierra de Ramsés, tal como el faraón lo había ordenado.

Así José hizo habitar á su padre y á sus hermanos, y dióles posesión en la tierra de Egipto, en lo mejor de la tierra, en la tierra de Rameses como mandó Faraón.

And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

No había pan en toda la región, porque el hambre era gravísima. Tanto Egipto como Canaán estaban agotados a causa del hambre.

Y no había pan en toda la tierra, y el hambre era muy grave; por lo que desfalleció de hambre la tierra de Egipto y la tierra de Canaán.

And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.

José recolectó todo el dinero que había en Egipto y en Canaán, a cambio del trigo que le compraban, y lo guardó en el tesoro del faraón.

Y recogió José todo el dinero que se halló en la tierra de Egipto y en la tierra de Canaán, por los alimentos que de él compraban; y metió José el dinero en casa de Faraón.

And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.

Cuando se acabó el dinero en Egipto y en Canaán, todos los egipcios acudieron a José y le suplicaron: “¡Danos de comer! ¿Vas a dejar que nos muramos delante de ti sólo porque se nos acabó el dinero?”

Y acabado el dinero de la tierra de Egipto y de la tierra de Canaán, vino todo Egipto á José diciendo: Danos pan: ¿por qué moriremos delante de ti, por haberse acabado el dinero?

And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.

When the money was all spent in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph, and said, “Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For our money fails.”

José les contestó: “Entréguenme su ganado, y yo les daré comida a cambio de sus animales, ya que se les acabó el dinero”.

Y José dijo: Dad vuestros ganados, y yo os daré por vuestros ganados, si se ha acabado el dinero.

And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.

Joseph said, “Give me your livestock; and I will give you food for your livestock, if your money is gone.”

Así que le llevaron su ganado a José, y él les dio pan a cambio de sus caballos, ovejas, vacas y burros. Durante ese año los abasteció de pan a cambio de todo su ganado.

Y ellos trajeron sus ganados á José; y José les dió alimentos por caballos, y por el ganado de las ovejas, y por el ganado de las vacas, y por asnos: y sustentólos de pan por todos sus ganados aquel año.

And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.

Al terminar ese año, acudieron a él al año siguiente y le dijeron: “No podemos ocultarle a mi señor que el dinero se ha agotado, y que nuestros animales ya le pertenecen a usted. Ya no nos queda nada que ofrecerle a mi señor, excepto nuestros cuerpos y nuestras tierras.

Y acabado aquel año, vinieron á él el segundo año, y le dijeron: No encubriremos á nuestro señor que el dinero ciertamente se ha acabado; también el ganado es ya de nuestro señor; nada ha quedado delante de nuestro señor sino nuestros cuerpos y nuestra tierra.

When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:

¿Vamos a morir ante sus propios ojos, nosotros y nuestras tierras? Cómprenos a nosotros y a nuestras tierras a cambio de pan, y seremos esclavos del faraón y la tierra será de él. Pero denos semilla para que podamos sobrevivir, para que no muramos y la tierra no quede desolada”.

¿Por qué moriremos delante de tus ojos, así nosotros como nuestra tierra? Cómpranos á nosotros y á nuestra tierra por pan, y seremos nosotros y nuestra tierra siervos de Faraón: y danos simiente para que vivamos y no muramos, y no sea asolada la tierra.

Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.

Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh. Give us seed, that we may live, and not die, and that the land won’t be desolate.”

Fue así como José compró toda la tierra de Egipto para el faraón. Todos los egipcios se vieron obligados a vender sus campos, porque el hambre se hizo insoportable. De este modo, la tierra pasó a ser propiedad del faraón.

Entonces compró José toda la tierra de Egipto para Faraón; pues los Egipcios vendieron cada uno sus tierras, porque se agravó el hambre sobre ellos: y la tierra vino á ser de Faraón.

And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh’s.

So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for every man of the Egyptians sold his field, because the famine was severe on them, and the land became Pharaoh’s.

En cuanto al pueblo, José lo trasladó a las ciudades desde un extremo de Egipto hasta el otro.

Y al pueblo hízolo pasar á las ciudades desde el un cabo del término de Egipto hasta el otro cabo.

And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.

La única tierra que José no compró fue la de los sacerdotes, porque ellos recibían una ración fija de parte del faraón, y vivían de esa ración. Por eso no tuvieron que vender sus tierras.

Solamente la tierra de los sacerdotes no compró, por cuanto los sacerdotes tenían ración de Faraón, y ellos comían su ración que Faraón les daba: por eso no vendieron su tierra.

Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.

Only he didn’t buy the land of the priests, for the priests had a portion from Pharaoh, and ate their portion which Pharaoh gave them. That is why they didn’t sell their land.

Entonces José le dijo al pueblo: “Miren, hoy los he comprado a ustedes y a sus tierras para el faraón. Aquí tienen semilla; vayan y siembren la tierra.

Y José dijo al pueblo: He aquí os he hoy comprado y á vuestra tierra para Faraón: ved aquí simiente, y sembraréis la tierra.

Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.

Then Joseph said to the people, “Behold, I have bought you and your land today for Pharaoh. Behold, here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land.

Cuando llegue el tiempo de la cosecha, le entregarán la quinta parte al faraón. Las otras cuatro partes serán para ustedes, para que tengan semilla para el campo y alimento para ustedes, para sus familias y para sus niños”.

Y será que de los frutos daréis el quinto á Faraón, y las cuatro partes serán vuestras para sembrar las tierras, y para vuestro mantenimiento, y de los que están en vuestras casas, y para que coman vuestros niños.

And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.

It will happen at the harvests, that you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and four parts will be your own, for seed of the field, for your food, for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.”

Ellos respondieron: “¡Usted nos ha salvado la vida! Con tal de contar con el favor de mi señor, seremos esclavos del faraón”.

Y ellos respondieron: La vida nos has dado: hallemos gracia en ojos de mi señor, y seamos siervos de Faraón.

And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.

They said, “You have saved our lives! Let us find favor in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.”

José estableció como ley en la tierra de Egipto, válida hasta el día de hoy, que la quinta parte de las cosechas le pertenece al faraón. Las únicas tierras que no pasaron a ser del faraón fueron las de los sacerdotes.

Entonces José lo puso por fuero hasta hoy sobre la tierra de Egipto, señalando para Faraón el quinto; excepto sólo la tierra de los sacerdotes, que no fué de Faraón.

And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh’s.

Joseph made it a statute concerning the land of Egypt to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth. Only the land of the priests alone didn’t become Pharaoh’s.

Los israelitas se establecieron en Egipto, en la región de Gosén. Allí adquirieron propiedades, prosperaron y se multiplicaron muchísimo.

Así habitó Israel en la tierra de Egipto, en la tierra de Gosén; y aposesionáronse en ella, y se aumentaron, y multiplicaron en gran manera.

And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

Jacob vivió en Egipto diecisiete años, así que llegó a la edad de ciento cuarenta y siete años.

And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.

Cuando se acercaba el momento de su muerte, Israel llamó a su hijo José y le dijo: “Si realmente me amas, por favor pon tu mano debajo de mi muslo y júrame que me tratarás con lealtad y bondad: por favor, no me entierres en Egipto.

Y llegáronse los días de Israel para morir, y llamó á José su hijo, y le dijo: Si he hallado ahora gracia en tus ojos, ruégote que pongas tu mano debajo de mi muslo, y harás conmigo misericordia y verdad; ruégote que no me entierres en Egipto;

And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:

The time came near that Israel must die, and he called his son Joseph, and said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me. Please don’t bury me in Egypt,

Cuando yo muera y vaya a reunirme con mis antepasados, sácame de Egipto y entiérrame en el mismo sepulcro que ellos”. José le respondió: “Haré exactamente lo que me has pedido”.

Mas cuando durmiere con mis padres, llevarme has de Egipto, y me sepultarás en el sepulcro de ellos. Y él respondió: Yo haré como tú dices.

But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.

but when I sleep with my fathers, you shall carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burying place.” Joseph said, “I will do as you have said.”

“Júramelo”, insistió Israel. Y José se lo juró. Entonces Israel se inclinó sobre la cabecera de su cama en actitud de adoración.

Y él dijo: Júramelo. Y él le juró. Entonces Israel se inclinó sobre la cabecera de la cama.

And he said, Swear unto me. And he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed’s head.

Israel said, “Swear to me,” and he swore to him. Then Israel bowed himself on the bed’s head.
