Génesis 44

Y MANDÓ José al mayordomo de su casa, diciendo: Hinche los costales de aquestos varones de alimentos, cuanto pudieren llevar, y pon el dinero de cada uno en la boca de su costal:

And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man’s money in his sack’s mouth.

Y pondrás mi copa, la copa de plata, en la boca del costal del menor, con el dinero de su trigo. Y él hizo como dijo José.

And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack’s mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.

Habiendo ellos salido de la ciudad, de la que aun no se habían alejado, dijo José á su mayordomo: Levántate, y sigue á esos hombres; y cuando los alcanzares, diles: ¿Por qué habéis vuelto mal por bien?

And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?

When they had gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, “Up, follow after the men. When you overtake them, ask them, ‘Why have you rewarded evil for good?

¿No es ésta en la que bebe mi señor, y por la que suele adivinar? habéis hecho mal en lo que hicisteis.

Is not this it in which my lord drinketh, and whereby indeed he divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.

Isn’t this that from which my lord drinks, and by which he indeed divines? You have done evil in so doing.’”

Y como él los alcanzó, díjoles estas palabras.

And he overtook them, and he spake unto them these same words.

He overtook them, and he spoke these words to them.

Y ellos le respondieron: ¿Por qué dice mi señor tales cosas? Nunca tal hagan tus siervos.

And they said unto him, Wherefore saith my lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing:

They said to him, “Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants that they should do such a thing!

He aquí, el dinero que hallamos en la boca de nuestros costales, te lo volvimos á traer desde la tierra de Canaán; ¿cómo, pues, habíamos de hurtar de casa de tu señor plata ni oro?

Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold?

Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again to you out of the land of Canaan. How then should we steal silver or gold out of your lord’s house?

Aquel de tus siervos en quien fuere hallada la copa, que muera, y aun nosotros seremos siervos de mi señor.

With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord’s bondmen.

With whomever of your servants it is found, let him die, and we also will be my lord’s slaves.”

Y él dijo: También ahora sea conforme á vuestras palabras; aquél en quien se hallare, será mi siervo, y vosotros seréis sin culpa.

And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless.

He said, “Now also let it be according to your words. He with whom it is found will be my slave; and you will be blameless.”

Ellos entonces se dieron prisa, y derribando cada uno su costal en tierra, abrió cada cual el costal suyo.

Then they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.

Then they hurried, and each man took his sack down to the ground, and each man opened his sack.

Y buscó; desde el mayor comenzó, y acabó en el menor; y la copa fué hallada en el costal de Benjamín.

And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.

He searched, beginning with the oldest, and ending at the youngest. The cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.

Entonces ellos rasgaron sus vestidos, y cargó cada uno su asno, y volvieron á la ciudad.

Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.

Then they tore their clothes, and each man loaded his donkey, and returned to the city.

Y llegó Judá con sus hermanos á casa de José, que aun estaba allí, y postráronse delante de él en tierra.

And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph’s house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.

Judah and his brothers came to Joseph’s house, and he was still there. They fell on the ground before him.

Y díjoles José: ¿Qué obra es esta que habéis hecho? ¿no sabéis que un hombre como yo sabe adivinar?

And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?

Joseph said to them, “What deed is this that you have done? Don’t you know that such a man as I can indeed do divination?”

Entonces dijo Judá: ¿Qué diremos á mi señor? ¿qué hablaremos? ¿ó con qué nos justificaremos? Dios ha hallado la maldad de tus siervos: he aquí, nosotros somos siervos de mi señor, nosotros, y también aquél en cuyo poder fué hallada la copa.

And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.

Judah said, “What will we tell my lord? What will we speak? How will we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants. Behold, we are my lord’s slaves, both we and he also in whose hand the cup is found.”

Y él respondió: Nunca yo tal haga: el varón en cuyo poder fué hallada la copa, él será mi siervo; vosotros id en paz á vuestro padre.

And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.

He said, “Far be it from me that I should do so. The man in whose hand the cup is found, he will be my slave; but as for you, go up in peace to your father.”

Da (und) trat Juda an ihn heran und sagte: Bitte, mein Herr, lass doch deinen Knecht (möge doch dein Knecht) ein Wort (Sache) in die Ohren meines Herrn sagen. Und werde nicht zornig (lass deinen Zorn nicht brennen) auf (über) deinen Knecht, denn du †bist wie †der Pharao.

Entonces Judá se llegó á él, y dijo: Ay señor mío, ruégote que hable tu siervo una palabra en oídos de mi señor, y no se encienda tu enojo contra tu siervo, pues que tú eres como Faraón.

Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord’s ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.

Then Judah came near to him, and said, “Oh, my lord, please let your servant speak a word in my lord’s ears, and don’t let your anger burn against your servant; for you are even as Pharaoh.

Mein Herr fragte seine Knechte: Habt ihr einen Vater oder einen Bruder?

Mi señor preguntó á sus siervos, diciendo: ¿Tenéis padre ó hermano?

My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother?

My lord asked his servants, saying, ‘Have you a father, or a brother?’

{Und} Wir sagten zu meinem Herrn: Wir haben einen greisen (alten) Vater (Vater, einen alten Mann) und einen kleinen Jungen, †den er im Alter †bekommen hat. {und} Sein Bruder †ist gestorben und er blieb †als Einziger von seiner Mutter übrig, und sein Vater liebt ihn.

Y nosotros respondimos á mi señor: Tenemos un padre anciano, y un mozo que le nació en su vejez, pequeño aún; y un hermano suyo murió, y él quedó solo de su madre, y su padre lo ama.

And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him.

We said to my lord, ‘We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother; and his father loves him.’

Aber (und) du sagtest zu deinen Knechten: Bringt ihn {herab} zu mir, damit ich meine Augen auf ihn legen kann.

Y tú dijiste á tus siervos: Traédmelo, y pondré mis ojos sobre él.

And thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.

You said to your servants, ‘Bring him down to me, that I may set my eyes on him.’

{Und} Wir sagten zu meinem Herrn: Der Junge kann (darf, will) seinen Vater nicht verlassen. Wenn er seinen Vater verließe, würde er sterben.

Y nosotros dijimos á mi señor: El mozo no puede dejar á su padre, porque si le dejare, su padre morirá.

And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.

We said to my lord, ‘The boy can’t leave his father, for if he should leave his father, his father would die.’

Doch (und) du sagtest zu deinen Knechten: Wenn euer jüngster Bruder nicht mit euch {herab}kommen wird, werdet (dürft) ihr mein Gesicht nicht wieder sehen.

Y dijiste á tus siervos: Si vuestro hermano menor no descendiere con vosotros, no veáis más mi rostro.

And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.

You said to your servants, ‘Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will see my face no more.’

{es geschah} Als wir dann (und) zu deinem Knecht, unserem Vater, {hinauf}gekommen waren, da berichteten wir ihm die Worte meines Herrn.

Aconteció pues, que como llegamos á mi padre tu siervo, contámosle las palabras de mi señor.

And it came to pass when we came up unto thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.

When we came up to your servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.

Doch (und, als) unser Vater sagte: Kehrt um †und kauft uns ein wenig Getreide †als Nahrung!

Y dijo nuestro padre: Volved á comprarnos un poco de alimento.

And our father said, Go again, and buy us a little food.

Our father said, ‘Go again and buy us a little food.’

Da (und) sagten wir: Wir können nicht {hinab}gehen. Wenn unser jüngster Bruder bei uns ist (wenn wir … haben), dann werden (können) wir {hinab}gehen. Denn wir werden das Gesicht des Mannes nicht †wiedersehen, wenn unser jüngster Bruder nicht bei uns ist.

Y nosotros respondimos: No podemos ir: si nuestro hermano fuere con nosotros, iremos; porque no podemos ver el rostro del varón, no estando con nosotros nuestro hermano el menor.

And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man’s face, except our youngest brother be with us.

We said, ‘We can’t go down. If our youngest brother is with us, then we will go down: for we may not see the man’s face, unless our youngest brother is with us.’

Und (da) dein Knecht, mein Vater sagte zu uns: Ihr wisst, dass meine Frau mir zwei †Söhne geboren hat.

Entonces tu siervo mi padre nos dijo: Vosotros sabéis que dos me parió mi mujer;

And thy servant my father said unto us, Ye know that my wife bare me two sons:

Your servant, my father, said to us, ‘You know that my wife bore me two sons.

{und} Der eine ist von mir gegangen (hat mich verlassen) und ich sagte: Sicherlich wurde er zerrissen! Und ich habe ihn bis jetzt nicht gesehen.

Y el uno salió de conmigo, y pienso de cierto que fué despedazado, y hasta ahora no le he visto;

And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since:

One went out from me, and I said, “Surely he is torn in pieces;” and I haven’t seen him since.

Und (doch; wenn) ihr wollt (werdet) auch diesen von mir (meinem Gesicht) wegnehmen! Wenn ihm ein Unglück zustößt (begegnet), dann bringt ihr mein graues Haar in Unheil (Kummer; Bösem) hinab ins Totenreich (Scheol)!

Y si tomareis también éste de delante de mí, y le aconteciere algún desastre, haréis descender mis canas con dolor á la sepultura.

And if ye take this also from me, and mischief befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

If you take this one also from me, and harm happens to him, you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.’

Und jetzt, wenn ich zu deinem Knecht, meinem Vater komme und der Junge ist nicht bei uns – {und} seine Seele (Leben) ist mit seiner Seele (Leben) verbunden –

Ahora, pues, cuando llegare yo á tu siervo mi padre, y el mozo no fuere conmigo, como su alma está ligada al alma de él,

Now therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad’s life;

Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the boy is not with us; since his life is bound up in the boy’s life;

und {es wird geschehen} wenn er sieht, dass der Junge nicht bei uns ist, dann wird er sterben, und (dann) deine Knechte bringen das graue Haar deines Knechtes, unseres Vaters, mit Kummer hinab ins Totenreich (Scheol).

Sucederá que cuando no vea al mozo, morirá: y tus siervos harán descender las canas de tu siervo nuestro padre con dolor á la sepultura.

It shall come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and thy servants shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave.

it will happen, when he sees that the boy is no more, that he will die. Your servants will bring down the gray hairs of your servant, our father, with sorrow to Sheol.

Denn dein Knecht bürgte (hat sich verbürgt) für den Jungen vor meinem Vater mit den Worten (indem ich sagte): Wenn ich ihn nicht zu dir zurückbringe, dann werde ich gegenüber meinem Vater alle Tage (mein Leben lang) die Schuld dafür auf mich nehmen (sündigen).

Como tu siervo salió por fiador del mozo con mi padre, diciendo: Si no te lo volviere, entonces yo seré culpable para mi padre todos los días;

For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.

For your servant became collateral for the boy to my father, saying, ‘If I don’t bring him to you, then I will bear the blame to my father forever.’

Deshalb (Und nun) lass doch deinen Knecht (möge doch dein Knecht) anstelle des Jungen als Sklave (Knecht) meines Herrn †hier bleiben! Aber (und) der Junge soll (möge) mit seinen †anderen Brüdern {hinauf}gehen.

Ruégote por tanto que quede ahora tu siervo por el mozo por siervo de mi señor, y que el mozo vaya con sus hermanos.

Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.

Now therefore, please let your servant stay instead of the boy, my lord’s slave; and let the boy go up with his brothers.

Denn wie kann ich zu meinem Vater {hinauf} zurückkehren, wenn (und) der Junge nicht bei mir ist? Sonst muss (müsste) ich das Unglück (Kummer, Böse) sehen, das meinen Vater treffen wird (würde).

Porque ¿cómo iré yo á mi padre sin el mozo? No podré, por no ver el mal que sobrevendrá á mi padre.

For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest peradventure I see the evil that shall come on my father.

For how will I go up to my father, if the boy isn’t with me?—lest I see the evil that will come on my father.”
