Cependant, la famine persistait sur la terre.

Y EL hambre era grande en la tierra.

And the famine was sore in the land.

The famine was severe in the land.

Lorsqu'ils eurent fini de manger le blé qu'ils avaient rapporté d'Égypte, leur père dit : Partez de nouveau, et achetez-nous un peu de blé.

Y aconteció que como acabaron de comer el trigo que trajeron de Egipto, díjoles su padre: Volved, y comprad para nosotros un poco de alimento.

And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.

When they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them, “Go again, buy us a little more food.”

Juda répondit : L'homme maître de la contrée a protesté, et nous a dit : Vous ne verrez pas ma face, si votre frère le plus jeune n'est pas avec vous.

Y respondió Judá, diciendo: Aquel varón nos protestó con ánimo resuelto, diciendo: No veréis mi rostro sin vuestro hermano con vosotros.

And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

Judah spoke to him, saying, “The man solemnly warned us, saying, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’

Si donc tu envoies avec nous notre frère, nous descendrons et nous t'achèterons du blé.

Si enviares á nuestro hermano con nosotros, descenderemos y te compraremos alimento:

If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food:

If you’ll send our brother with us, we’ll go down and buy you food;

Mais si tu n'envoies pas avec nous notre frère, nous ne partirons pas, car l'homme nous a dit : Vous ne verrez pas ma face, si votre frère le plus jeune n'est pas avec vous.

Pero si no le enviares, no descenderemos: porque aquel varón nos dijo: No veréis mi rostro sin vuestro hermano con vosotros.

But if thou wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

but if you don’t send him, we won’t go down, for the man said to us, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’”

Pourquoi, dit Israël, m'avez-vous fait ce mal de dire à l'homme que vous aviez un frère ?

Y dijo Israel: ¿Por qué me hicisteis tanto mal, declarando al varón que teníais más hermano?

And Israel said, Wherefore dealt ye so ill with me, as to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?

Israel said, “Why did you treat me so badly, telling the man that you had another brother?”

Et ils reprirent : L'homme nous a interrogés sur nous et notre famille, disant : Votre père vit-il encore ? Avez-vous un frère ? Nous lui avons répondu selon ses questions. Pouvions-nous prévoir qu'il nous dirait : Amenez-moi votre frère ?

Y ellos respondieron: Aquel varón nos preguntó expresamente por nosotros, y por nuestra parentela, diciendo: ¿Vive aún vuestro padre? ¿tenéis otro hermano? y declarámosle conforme á estas palabras. ¿Podíamos nosotros saber que había de decir: Haced venir á vuestro hermano?

And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?

They said, “The man asked directly concerning ourselves, and concerning our relatives, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?’ We just answered his questions. Is there any way we could know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother down’?”

Juda dit alors à Israël, son père : Envoie l'enfant avec moi, et nous partirons, afin que nous vivions et que nous ne mourions pas, nous et toute ta maison.

Entonces Judá dijo á Israel su padre: Envía al mozo conmigo, y nos levantaremos é iremos, á fin que vivamos y no muramos nosotros, y tú, y nuestros niños.

And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.

Judah said to Israel, his father, “Send the boy with me, and we’ll get up and go, so that we may live, and not die, both we, and you, and also our little ones.

C'est moi qui reçois mon frère, réclame-le de ma main ; si je ne le ramène pas en ta demeure, si je ne le remets pas devant tes yeux, je serai coupable envers toi tous les jours de ma vie.

Yo lo fío; á mí me pedirás cuenta de él: si yo no te lo volviere y lo pusiere delante de ti, seré para ti el culpante todos los días:

I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:

I’ll be collateral for him. From my hand will you require him. If I don’t bring him to you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever;

Si nous n'avions point ainsi tardé, nous serions déjà revenus deux fois.

Que si no nos hubiéramos detenido, cierto ahora hubiéramos ya vuelto dos veces.

For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.

for if we hadn’t delayed, surely we would have returned a second time by now.”

Et Jacob, leur père, dit : Puisqu'il en est ainsi, faites comme je vais dire : prenez dans vos sacs des fruits de cette terre, et portez à l'homme des présents de gomme et de miel, portez-lui de l'encens, de la térébenthine, de la myrrhe et des amandes.

Entonces Israel su padre les respondió: Pues que así es, hacedlo; tomad de lo mejor de la tierra en vuestros vasos, y llevad á aquel varón un presente, un poco de bálsamo, y un poco de miel, aromas y mirra, nueces y almendras.

And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:

Emportez le double d'argent ; reportez celui qui a été retrouvé dans vos sacs, de peur que ce ne soit une méprise.

Y tomad en vuestras manos doblado dinero, y llevad en vuestra mano el dinero vuelto en las bocas de vuestros costales; quizá fué yerro.

And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; peradventure it was an oversight:

and take double money in your hand, and take back the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks. Perhaps it was an oversight.

Enfin, prenez votre frère, et descendez chez l'homme.

Tomad también á vuestro hermano, y levantaos, y volved á aquel varón.

Take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man:

Que Dieu vous fasse trouver grâce devant lui ; qu'il renvoie votre frère qu'il a gardé, et aussi Benjamin ; et moi cependant, me voici comme sans enfants ! sans enfants !.

Y el Dios Omnipotente os dé misericordias delante de aquel varón, y os suelte al otro vuestro hermano, y á este Benjamín. Y si he de ser privado de mis hijos, séalo.

And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.

May God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may release to you your other brother and Benjamin. If I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.”

Ayant ainsi pris les dons, et l'argent double, les hommes emmenèrent Benjamin ; ils descendirent en Égypte, et ils parurent devant Joseph.

Entonces tomaron aquellos varones el presente, y tomaron en su mano doblado dinero, y á Benjamín; y se levantaron, y descendieron á Egipto, y presentáronse delante de José.

And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

Lorsqu'il les vit, lorsqu'il vit Benjamin son frère, né de la même mère que lui, il dit à l'intendant de sa maison : Conduis ces hommes, égorge et apprête des victimes ; ces hommes mangeront avec moi, à midi.

Y vió José á Benjamín con ellos, y dijo al mayordomo de su casa: Mete en casa á esos hombres, y degüella víctima, y aderézala; porque estos hombres comerán conmigo al medio día.

And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.

Le serviteur fit ce qu'avait commandé Joseph, et il introduisit les hommes en la maison de Joseph.

E hizo el hombre como José dijo; y metió aquel hombre á los hombres en casa de José.

And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph’s house.

The man did as Joseph commanded, and the man brought the men to Joseph’s house.

Or, les hommes, se voyant en la maison de Joseph, dirent entre eux : On nous amène ici, à cause de l'argent remporté dans nos sacs la première fois, pour nous calomnier, mettre la main sur nous, nous faire esclaves, et prendre nos ânes.

Y aquellos hombres tuvieron temor, cuando fueron metidos en casa de José, y decían: Por el dinero que fué vuelto en nuestros costales la primera vez nos han metido aquí, para revolver contra nosotros, y dar sobre nosotros, y tomarnos por siervos á nosotros, y á nuestros asnos.

And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.

The men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph’s house; and they said, “Because of the money that was returned in our sacks the first time, we’re brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, attack us, and seize us as slaves, along with our donkeys.”

Ayant donc abordé l'intendant de Joseph, ils lui parlèrent dans le vestibule de la maison,

Y llegáronse al mayordomo de la casa de José, y le hablaron á la entrada de la casa.

And they came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,

Disant : Nous te prions, seigneur ; nous sommes venus une fois acheter du blé ;

Y dijeron: Ay, señor mío, nosotros en realidad de verdad descendimos al principio á comprar alimentos:

and said, “Oh, my lord, we indeed came down the first time to buy food.

Et, lorsque nous arrivâmes à la première halte nous ouvrîmes nos sacs, et l'argent de chacun s'y trouvait ; maintenant, nous rapportons en nos mains cet argent, du même poids.

Y aconteció que como vinimos al mesón y abrimos nuestros costales, he aquí el dinero de cada uno estaba en la boca de su costal, nuestro dinero en su justo peso; y hémoslo vuelto en nuestras manos.

And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man’s money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.

Nous avons de plus, avec nous, d'autre argent pour acheter du blé ; mais nous ne savons pas qui a remis l'argent dans nos sacs.

Hemos también traído en nuestras manos otro dinero para comprar alimentos: nosotros no sabemos quién haya puesto nuestro dinero en nuestros costales.

And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.

Il leur répondit : Dieu vous soit propice ; n'ayez point de crainte: votre Dieu, le Dieu de vos pères, a mis des trésors dans vos sacs ; car pour moi j'ai encore votre argent, qui est de bon aloi. Ensuite, il fit venir Siméon auprès d'eux ;

Y él respondió: Paz á vosotros, no temáis; vuestro Dios y el Dios de vuestro padre os dió el tesoro en vuestros costales: vuestro dinero vino á mí. Y sacó á Simeón á ellos.

And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.

He said, “Peace be to you. Don’t be afraid. Your God, and the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks. I received your money.” He brought Simeon out to them.

Il leur apporta de l'eau à laver les pieds, et il fit manger leurs ânes.

Y metió aquel varón á aquellos hombres en casa de José: y dióles agua, y lavaron sus pies: y dió de comer á sus asnos.

And the man brought the men into Joseph’s house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.

And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.

Joseph entra dans la maison, et ils lui présentèrent les dons qu'ils tenaient en leurs mains, se prosternant devant lui la face contre terre.

And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.

And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?

Ils répondirent : Ton serviteur notre père est en bonne santé ; il vit encore. Il reprit : Dieu bénisse cet homme ; et, s'étant courbés, ils se prosternèrent devant lui.

Y ellos respondieron: Bien va á tu siervo nuestro padre; aun vive. Y se inclinaron, é hicieron reverencia.

And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made obeisance.

They said, “Your servant, our father, is well. He is still alive.” They bowed down humbly.

Alors, Joseph, ayant levé les yeux, aperçut Benjamin, son frère, né de la même mère que lui, et il dit : C'est là votre frère le plus jeune, que vous aviez promis de m'amener ? Et il ajouta : Dieu aie pitié de toi, enfant.

Y alzando él sus ojos vió á Benjamín su hermano, hijo de su madre, y dijo: ¿Es éste vuestro hermano menor, de quien me hablasteis? Y dijo: Dios tenga misericordia de ti, hijo mío.

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother’s son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.

Aussitôt Joseph fut troublé ; ses entrailles étaient émues à cause de son frère, il avait besoin de pleurer ; et étant entré dans sa chambre à coucher, il y pleura.

Entonces José se apresuró, porque se conmovieron sus entrañas á causa de su hermano, y procuró donde llorar: y entróse en su cámara, y lloró allí.

And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.

Puis s'étant lavé le visage, il revint, et, se maîtrisant, il dit : Servez le repas.

L'on servit des mets, à lui d'abord, puis à ses frères, à part, puis à part aussi aux Égyptiens qui dînaient avec lui, car les Égyptiens ne peuvent manger avec les Hébreux ; c'est à leurs yeux une abomination.

Y pusieron para él aparte, y separadamente para ellos, y aparte para los Egipcios que con él comían: porque los Egipcios no pueden comer pan con los Hebreos, lo cual es abominación á los Egipcios.

And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

Les frères de Joseph étaient assis en face de lui le premier-né, selon son droit d'aînesse ; le plus jeune, selon son âge tendre ; et chacun était assis à sa place en face de son frère.
