Y ACONTECIÓ en aquel tiempo, que Judá descendió de con sus hermanos, y fuése á un varón Adullamita, que se llamaba Hira.
And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.

And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her.

Et Juda prit pour Er, son premier-né, une femme nommée Thamar.
Y Judá tomó mujer para su primogénito Er, la cual se llamaba Thamar.

Et Juda dit à Onan : Va vers la femme de ton frère en ta qualité de beau-frère et suscite une postérité à ton frère.
Entonces Judá dijo á Onán: Entra á la mujer de tu hermano, y despósate con ella, y suscita simiente á tu hermano.
And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.”
Mais Onan savait que cette postérité ne serait pas à lui, et quand il allait vers la femme de son frère, il faisait en sorte de ne point donner de postérité à son frère.
Y sabiendo Onán que la simiente no había de ser suya, sucedía que cuando entraba á la mujer de su hermano vertía en tierra, por no dar simiente á su hermano.
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
Onan knew that the offspring wouldn’t be his; and when he went in to his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground, lest he should give offspring to his brother.
Et ce qu'il faisait déplut à l'Eternel, et il le fit mourir aussi.
Y desagradó en ojos de Jehová lo que hacía, y también quitó á él la vida.
And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.
The thing which he did was evil in the LORD’s sight, and he killed him also.
Et Juda dit à Thamar, sa belle-fille : Demeure comme veuve dans la maison de ton père jusqu'à ce que Schéla, mon fils, soit devenu grand. Car il disait : Il ne faut pas qu'il meure, lui aussi, comme ses frères. Et Thamar s'en alla et demeura dans la maison de son père.
Y Judá dijo á Thamar su nuera: Estáte viuda en casa de tu padre, hasta que crezca Sela mi hijo; porque dijo: Que quizá no muera él también como sus hermanos. Y fuése Thamar, y estúvose en casa de su padre.
Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father’s house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father’s house.
Then Judah said to Tamar, his daughter-in-law, “Remain a widow in your father’s house, until Shelah, my son, is grown up;” for he said, “Lest he also die, like his brothers.” Tamar went and lived in her father’s house.
Et bien des jours s'écoulèrent, et la fille de Schua, femme de Juda, mourut. Et Juda, après avoir fini son deuil, monta vers ceux qui tondaient ses brebis à Thimna, lui et Hira, son ami, l'Adullamite.
Y pasaron muchos días, y murió la hija de Súa, mujer de Judá; y Judá se consoló, y subía á los trasquiladores de sus ovejas á Timnath, él y su amigo Hira el Adullamita.
And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah’s wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.
After many days, Shua’s daughter, the wife of Judah, died. Judah was comforted, and went up to his sheep shearers to Timnah, he and his friend Hirah, the Adullamite.
Et on en informa Thamar, en lui disant : Voici, ton beau-père monte à Thimna pour tondre ses brebis.
Y fué dado aviso á Thamar, diciendo: He aquí tu suegro sube á Timnath á trasquilar sus ovejas.
And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.
Tamar was told, “Behold, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep.”
Et elle ôta ses habits de veuve, se couvrit d'un voile et s'en enveloppa, et elle s'assit à l'entrée d'Enaïm, qui est sur le chemin de Thimna ; car elle avait vu que Schéla était devenu grand et qu'elle ne lui avait pas été donnée pour femme.
Entonces quitó ella de sobre sí los vestidos de su viudez, y cubrióse con un velo, y arrebozóse, y se puso á la puerta de las aguas que están junto al camino de Timnath; porque veía que había crecido Sela, y ella no era dada á él por mujer.
And she put her widow’s garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.
She took off the garments of her widowhood, and covered herself with her veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in the gate of Enaim, which is on the way to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was grown up, and she wasn’t given to him as a wife.
Et Juda la vit et la prit pour une femme de mauvaise vie ; car elle avait couvert son visage.
Y vióla Judá, y túvola por ramera, porque había ella cubierto su rostro.
When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face.
When Judah saw her, he thought that she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face.
Et il se détourna vers elle, vers le chemin, et il dit : Permets que j'aille vers toi. Car il ne savait pas que ce fût sa belle-fille. Elle répondit : Que me donneras-tu pour venir vers moi ?
Y apartóse del camino hacia ella, y díjole: Ea, pues, ahora entraré á ti; porque no sabía que era su nuera; y ella dijo: ¿Qué me has de dar, si entrares á mí?
And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?
He turned to her by the way, and said, “Please come, let me come in to you,” for he didn’t know that she was his daughter-in-law. She said, “What will you give me, that you may come in to me?”
Il dit : J'enverrai un chevreau du troupeau. Et elle dit : A condition que tu me donnes un gage jusqu'à ce que tu l'envoies.
El respondió: Yo te enviaré del ganado un cabrito de las cabras. Y ella dijo: Hasme de dar prenda hasta que lo envíes.
And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it?
He said, “I will send you a young goat from the flock.” She said, “Will you give me a pledge, until you send it?”
Il dit : Quel est le gage que je te donnerai ? Et elle répondit : Ton cachet et ton cordon, et ton bâton que tu as à la main. Et il les lui donna, et il alla vers elle, et elle devint enceinte de lui.
Entonces él dijo: ¿Qué prenda te daré? Ella respondió: Tu anillo, y tu manto, y tu bordón que tienes en tu mano. Y él se los dió, y entró á ella, la cual concibió de él.
And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.
He said, “What pledge will I give you?” She said, “Your signet and your cord, and your staff that is in your hand.” He gave them to her, and came in to her, and she conceived by him.
Et elle se leva et s'en alla ; et elle ôta son voile et remit ses habits de veuve.
Y levantóse, y fuése: y quitóse el velo de sobre sí, y vistióse las ropas de su viudez.
And she arose, and went away, and laid by her vail from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.

Et Juda envoya le chevreau par son ami, l'Adullamite, pour retirer le gage des mains de cette femme ; mais il ne la trouva point.
Y Judá envió el cabrito de las cabras por mano de su amigo el Adullamita, para que tomase la prenda de mano de la mujer; mas no la halló.
And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman’s hand: but he found her not.
Judah sent the young goat by the hand of his friend, the Adullamite, to receive the pledge from the woman’s hand, but he didn’t find her.
Et il interrogea les hommes du lieu, en disant : Où est cette prostituée qui était à Enaïm, au bord du chemin ? Ils lui dirent : Il n'y a point eu ici de prostituée.
Y preguntó á los hombres de aquel lugar, diciendo: ¿Dónde está la ramera de las aguas junto al camino? Y ellos le dijeron: No ha estado aquí ramera.
Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in this place.
Then he asked the men of her place, saying, “Where is the prostitute, that was at Enaim by the road?” They said, “There has been no prostitute here.”
Et il retourna vers Juda et dit : Je ne l'ai point trouvée, et même les gens du lieu ont dit : Il n'y a point eu ici de prostituée.
Entonces él se volvió á Judá, y dijo: No la he hallado; y también los hombres del lugar dijeron: Aquí no ha estado ramera.
And he returned to Judah, and said, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.
He returned to Judah, and said, “I haven’t found her; and also the men of the place said, ‘There has been no prostitute here.’”
Et Juda dit : Qu'elle garde cela ! Il ne faut pas qu'on se moque de nous. C'est un fait que j'ai envoyé ce chevreau, et tu ne l'as point trouvée.
Y Judá dijo: Tómeselo para sí, porque no seamos menospreciados: he aquí yo he enviado este cabrito, y tú no la hallaste.
And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.
Judah said, “Let her keep it, lest we be shamed. Behold, I sent this young goat, and you haven’t found her.”
Et il arriva qu'environ trois mois après on alla dire à Juda : Thamar, ta belle-fille, s'est prostituée, et même la voilà enceinte de ses prostitutions. Et Juda dit : Faites-la sortir, et qu'elle soit brûlée.
Y acaeció que al cabo de unos tres meses fué dado aviso á Judá, diciendo: Thamar tu nuera ha fornicado, y aun cierto está preñada de las fornicaciones. Y Judá dijo: Sacadla, y sea quemada.
And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.
About three months later, Judah was told, “Tamar, your daughter-in-law, has played the prostitute. Moreover, behold, she is with child by prostitution.” Judah said, “Bring her out, and let her be burned.”
Comme on la faisait sortir, elle envoya dire à son beau-père : C'est d'un homme à qui ceci appartient que je suis enceinte. Elle dit encore : Examine, je te prie, à qui sont ce cachet et ces cordons, et ce bâton.
Y ella, cuando la sacaban, envió á decir á su suegro: Del varón cuyas son estas cosas, estoy preñada: y dijo más: Mira ahora cúyas son estas cosas, el anillo, y el manto, y el bordón.
When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.
When she was brought out, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, “I am with child by the man who owns these.” She also said, “Please discern whose these are—the signet, and the cords, and the staff.”
Et Juda les reconnut et dit : Elle est plus juste que moi ; c'est arrivé parce que je ne l'ai point donnée à Schéla, mon fils. Et il ne la connut plus.
Entonces Judá los reconoció, y dijo: Más justa es que yo, por cuanto no la he dado á Sela mi hijo. Y nunca más la conoció.
And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.
Judah acknowledged them, and said, “She is more righteous than I, because I didn’t give her to Shelah, my son.” He knew her again no more.
Et à l'époque où elle devait accoucher, voici il y avait des jumeaux dans son sein.
Y aconteció que al tiempo del parir, he aquí había dos en su vientre.
And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb.

Et pendant qu'elle enfantait, l'un d'eux étendit une main ; et l'accoucheuse la prit et y lia un fil écarlate en disant : C'est celui-ci qui est sorti le premier.
Y sucedió, cuando paría, que sacó la mano el uno, y la partera tomó y ató á su mano un hilo de grana, diciendo: Este salió primero.
And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.

Mais il retira sa main, et voici son frère sortit. Et elle dit : Quelle brèche tu as faite ! La brèche soit sur toi ! Et on le nomma Pérets.
Empero fué que tornando él á meter la mano, he aquí su hermano salió; y ella dijo: ¿Por qué has hecho sobre ti rotura? Y llamó su nombre Phares.
And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.
As he drew back his hand, behold, his brother came out, and she said, “Why have you made a breach for yourself?” Therefore his name was called Perez.
Ensuite sortit son frère, qui avait à sa main le fil écarlate, et on le nomma Zérach.

And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.
