Lá estava eu: pelo dia, o calor me consumia e, pela noite, o orvalho congelado; e eu ficava sem dormir.

De día me consumía el calor, y de noche la helada, y el sueño se huía de mis ojos.

Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.
