Es kam aber eine Hungersnot über das Land - eine andere, als jene frühere Hungersnot, die zu Abrahams Zeit gewesen war -, da zog Isaak zu Abimelech, dem Könige der Philister, nach Gerar.

Y HUBO hambre en la tierra, además de la primera hambre que fué en los días de Abraham: y fuése Isaac á Abimelech rey de los Filisteos, en Gerar.

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

Da erschien ihm Jahwe und sprach: ziehe nicht hinab nach Ägypten! Bleibe in dem Lande, das ich dir sagen werde!

Y apareciósele Jehová, y díjole: No desciendas á Egipto: habita en la tierra que yo te diré;

And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

The LORD appeared to him, and said, “Don’t go down into Egypt. Live in the land I will tell you about.

Weile als Fremdling in diesem Lande, so will ich mit dir sein und dich segnen. Denn dir und deinen Nachkommen will ich alle diese Länder geben und werde den Schwur aufrecht erhalten, den ich deinem Vater Abraham geschworen habe.

Habita en esta tierra, y seré contigo, y te bendeciré; porque á ti y á tu simiente daré todas estas tierras, y confirmaré el juramento que juré á Abraham tu padre:

Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

Live in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For I will give to you, and to your offspring, all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.

Und ich werde deine Nachkommen so zahlreich werden lassen, wie die Sterne am Himmel, und werde deinen Nachkommen alle diese Länder geben, und durch deine Nachkommen sollen alle Völker auf Erden gesegnet werden,

Y multiplicaré tu simiente como las estrellas del cielo, y daré á tu simiente todas estas tierras; y todas las gentes de la tierra serán benditas en tu simiente:

And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,

zum Lohne dafür, daß Abraham meinem Befehl gehorcht und alles beobachtet hat, was ich von ihm forderte, meine Gebote, meine Satzungen und meine Weisungen.

Por cuanto oyó Abraham mi voz, y guardó mi precepto, mis mandamientos, mis estatutos y mis leyes.

Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

So blieb Isaak in Gerar.

Habitó, pues, Isaac en Gerar.

And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

Als sich aber die Bewohner des Orts nach seinem Weibe erkundigen, da sprach er: Sie ist meine Schwester! Denn er fürchtete sich zu sagen: Sie ist mein Weib; denn, dachte er, die Bewohner des Orts könnten mich sonst umbringen wegen Rebeka, weil sie so schön ist.

Y los hombres de aquel lugar le preguntaron acerca de su mujer; y él respondió: Es mi hermana; porque tuvo miedo de decir: Es mi mujer; que tal vez, dijo, los hombres del lugar me matarían por causa de Rebeca; porque era de hermoso aspecto.

And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

The men of the place asked him about his wife. He said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say, “My wife”, lest, he thought, “the men of the place might kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to look at.”

Als er nun längere Zeit dort gewohnt hatte, da schaute einst Abimelech, der König der Philister, zum Fenster hinaus und sah, wie Isaak mit seinem Weibe Rebeka scherzte.

Y sucedió que, después que él estuvo allí muchos días, Abimelech, rey de los Filisteos, mirando por una ventana, vió á Isaac que jugaba con Rebeca su mujer.

And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

Da ließ Abimelech den Isaak rufen und sprach: Also dein Weib ist sie! Wie konntest du da sagen: Sie ist meine Schwester? Isaak antwortete ihm: Ja, ich dachte, ich könnte ihretwegen etwa gar sterben müssen.

Y llamó Abimelech á Isaac, y dijo: He aquí ella es de cierto tu mujer: ¿cómo, pues, dijiste: Es mi hermana? E Isaac le respondió: Porque dije: Quizá moriré por causa de ella.

And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

Abimelech called Isaac, and said, “Behold, surely she is your wife. Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac said to him, “Because I said, ‘Lest I die because of her.’”

Da sprach Abimelech: Was hast du uns da angethan! Wie leicht konnte irgend einer deinem Weibe beiwohnen, und du hättest damit schwere Schuld auf uns geladen.

Y Abimelech dijo: ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? Por poco hubiera dormido alguno del pueblo con tu mujer, y hubieras traído sobre nosotros el pecado.

And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

Abimelech said, “What is this you have done to us? One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!”

Hierauf gebot Abimelech allem Volke: Wer diesen Mann und sein Weib antastet, soll mit dem Tode bestraft werden!

Entonces Abimelech mandó á todo el pueblo, diciendo: El que tocare á este hombre ó á su mujer, de cierto morirá.

And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

Abimelech commanded all the people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”

Isaak aber säete in jenem Land und erntete in jenem Jahre hundertfältig, denn Jahwe segnete ihn.

Y sembró Isaac en aquella tierra, y halló aquel año ciento por uno: y bendíjole Jehová.

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.

So wurde der Mann reich und wurde immer reicher, bis er sehr reich war;

und er besaß Schafherden und Rinderherden und viele Leibeigene, so daß die Philister ihn beneideten.

Y tuvo hato de ovejas, y hato de vacas, y grande apero; y los Filisteos le tuvieron envidia.

For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

Es hatten aber die Philister alle die Brunnen, welche die Sklaven seines Vaters bei Lebzeiten seines Vaters Abraham gegraben hatten, verschüttet und mit Erde angefüllt.

Y todos los pozos que habían abierto los criados de Abraham su padre en sus días, los Filisteos los habían cegado y llenado de tierra.

For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.

Da sprach Abimelech zu Isaak: Ziehe hinweg von uns, denn du bist uns zu mächtig geworden!

Y dijo Abimelech á Isaac: Apártate de nosotros, porque mucho más poderoso que nosotros te has hecho.

And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.

Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”

Da zog Isaak von dort hinweg, schlug sein Lager im Thale von Gerar auf und blieb daselbst.

E Isaac se fué de allí; y asentó sus tiendas en el valle de Gerar, y habitó allí.

And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.

Isaac departed from there, encamped in the valley of Gerar, and lived there.

Hierauf ließ Isaak die Brunnen wieder aufgraben, die die Sklaven seines Vaters Abraham gegraben und welche die Philister nach Abrahams Tode verschüttet hatten, und benannte sie wieder mit den Namen, die ihnen sein Vater gegeben hatte.

Y volvió á abrir Isaac los pozos de agua que habían abierto en los días de Abraham su padre, y que los Filisteos habían cegado, muerto Abraham; y llamólos por los nombres que su padre los había llamado.

And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

Da gruben die Sklaven Isaaks im Thalgrunde nach und fanden daselbst eine Quelle mit fließendem Wasser.

Y los siervos de Isaac cavaron en el valle, y hallaron allí un pozo de aguas vivas.

Die Hirten von Gerar aber gerieten in Streit mit den Hirten Isaaks und sprachen: Uns gehört das Wasser! Da nannte er die Quelle “Esek”, weil sie mit ihm gezankt hatten.

Y los pastores de Gerar riñeron con los pastores de Isaac, diciendo: El agua es nuestra: por eso llamó el nombre del pozo Esek, porque habían altercado con él.

And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.

The herdsmen of Gerar argued with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him.

Hierauf gruben sie einen anderen Brunnen, aber sie gerieten auch seinetwegen in Streit; daher nannte er ihn “Sitna”.

Y abrieron otro pozo, y también riñeron sobre él: y llamó su nombre Sitnah.

And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.

They dug another well, and they argued over that, also. So he called its name Sitnah.

Dann zog er weiter von dort hinweg und grub einen anderen Brunnen. Über den gerieten sie nicht in Streit; daher nannte er ihn “Rehoboth” und sprach: Nun hat uns Jahwe freien Raum geschafft, daß wir uns ausbreiten können im Lande!

Y apartóse de allí, y abrió otro pozo, y no riñeron sobre él: y llamó su nombre Rehoboth, y dijo: Porque ahora nos ha hecho ensanchar Jehová, y fructificaremos en la tierra.

And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

He left that place, and dug another well. They didn’t argue over that one. So he called it Rehoboth. He said, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”

Alsdann zog er von dort hinauf nach Beerseba.

Y de allí subió á Beer-seba.

And he went up from thence to Beer-sheba.

Da erschien ihm Jahwe in selbiger Nacht und sprach: Ich bin der Gott deines Vaters Abraham! Sei getrost, denn ich bin mit dir; und ich will dich segnen und deine Nachkommen zahlreich werden lassen um meines Dieners Abraham willen!

Y apareciósele Jehová aquella noche, y dijo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham tu padre; no temas, que yo soy contigo, y yo te bendeciré, y multiplicaré tu simiente por amor de Abraham mi siervo.

And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

The LORD appeared to him the same night, and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”

Da erbaute er daselbst einen Altar, rief den Namen Jahwes an und schlug daselbst sein Zelt auf. Hierauf gruben die Sklaven Isaaks dort einen Brunnen.

Y edificó allí un altar, é invocó el nombre de Jehová, y tendió allí su tienda: y abrieron allí los siervos de Isaac un pozo.

And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well.

Es war aber Abimelech mit Ahusat, seinem vertrauten Rat, und mit Pichol, seinem Heerführer, von Gerar zu ihm gekommen.

Y Abimelech vino á él desde Gerar, y Ahuzzath, amigo suyo, y Phicol, capitán de su ejército.

Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.

Da sprach Isaak zu ihnen: Warum kommt ihr zu mir, da ihr doch feindlich gegen mich gesinnt seid und mich von euch getrieben habt?

Y díjoles Isaac: ¿Por qué venís á mí, pues que me habéis aborrecido, y me echasteis de entre vosotros?

And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?

Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me, and have sent me away from you?”

Sie sprachen: Wir haben wohl gesehen, daß Jahwe mit dir war; da beschlossen wir, es müsse eine gegenseitige Verpflichtung von uns und dir beschworen werden, und wollen einen Vertrag mit dir schließen,

Y ellos respondieron: Hemos visto que Jehová es contigo; y dijimos: Haya ahora juramento entre nosotros, entre nosotros y ti, y haremos alianza contigo:

And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

They said, “We saw plainly that the LORD was with you. We said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let’s make a covenant with you,

daß du uns nicht Böses zufügen willst, wie auch wir dich nicht angetastet und dir nur Gutes erwiesen haben, indem wir dich in Frieden ziehen ließen. Du bist nun einmal der Gesegnete Jahwes!

Que no nos hagas mal, como nosotros no te hemos tocado, y como solamente te hemos hecho bien, y te enviamos en paz: tú ahora, bendito de Jehová.

That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.

that you will do us no harm, as we have not touched you, and as we have done to you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace.’ You are now the blessed of the LORD.”

Da bereitete er ihnen ein Mahl, und sie aßen und tranken.

Entonces él les hizo banquete, y comieron y bebieron.

And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.

Am andern Morgen früh aber schwuren sie sich gegenseitig; hierauf verabschiedete sie Isaak, und sie gingen in Frieden von ihm.

And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.

An demselben Tage kamen die Sklaven Isaaks und berichteten ihm in betreff des Brunnens, den sie gegraben hatten, und sprachen zu ihm: Wir haben Wasser gefunden!

Y en aquel día sucedió que vinieron los criados de Isaac, y diéronle nuevas acerca del pozo que habían abierto, y le dijeron: Agua hemos hallado.

And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water.

Da nannte er ihn Siba; daher hießt die Stadt Beerseba bis auf den heutigen Tag.

Y llamólo Seba: por cuya causa el nombre de aquella ciudad es Beer-seba hasta este día.

And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beer-sheba unto this day.

He called it “Shibah”. Therefore the name of the city is “Beersheba” to this day.

Als nun Esau vierzig Jahre alt war, heiratete er Judith, die Tochter des Hethiters Beeri, und Basmath, die Tochter des Hethiters Elon.

Y cuando Esaú fué de cuarenta años, tomó por mujer á Judith hija de Beeri Hetheo, y á Basemat hija de Elón Hetheo:

And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:

When Esau was forty years old, he took as wife Judith, the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath, the daughter of Elon the Hittite.

Die waren ein schwerer Kummer für Isaak und Rebeka.

Y fueron amargura de espíritu á Isaac y á Rebeca.

Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.

They grieved Isaac’s and Rebekah’s spirits.
