Nessa época veio fome sobre aquela região, o mesmo que havia ocorrido durante a vida de Abraão. Por causa disso, Isaque foi para Gerar, encontrar-se com Abimeleque, rei dos filisteus.

Y HUBO hambre en la tierra, además de la primera hambre que fué en los días de Abraham: y fuése Isaac á Abimelech rey de los Filisteos, en Gerar.

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

There was a famine in the land, in addition to the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, to Gerar.

O Senhor apareceu a Isaque e disse: “Não desça ao Egito. Fique na terra que eu lhe indicar.

Y apareciósele Jehová, y díjole: No desciendas á Egipto: habita en la tierra que yo te diré;

And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

The LORD appeared to him, and said, “Don’t go down into Egypt. Live in the land I will tell you about.

Habite nela, e eu estarei com você e o abençoarei. Darei a você e a seus descendentes todas estas terras e confirmarei o juramento que fiz a seu pai, Abraão.

Habita en esta tierra, y seré contigo, y te bendeciré; porque á ti y á tu simiente daré todas estas tierras, y confirmaré el juramento que juré á Abraham tu padre:

Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

Live in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For I will give to you, and to your offspring, all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.

Farei com que os seus descendentes sejam numerosos como as estrelas do céu e lhes darei todas estas terras; por meio dos seus descendentes todas as nações da terra serão abençoadas.

Y multiplicaré tu simiente como las estrellas del cielo, y daré á tu simiente todas estas tierras; y todas las gentes de la tierra serán benditas en tu simiente:

And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,

Farei isso porque Abraão obedeceu à minha palavra e guardou os meus mandamentos, os meus decretos e as minhas leis”.

Por cuanto oyó Abraham mi voz, y guardó mi precepto, mis mandamientos, mis estatutos y mis leyes.

Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Assim, Isaque ficou em Gerar.

Habitó, pues, Isaac en Gerar.

And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

Isaac lived in Gerar.

Quando os homens daquele lugar perguntaram a respeito de sua mulher, ele disse: “Ela é minha irmã”. Ele teve medo de dizer que era sua mulher, pois pensava: “Os homens daqui podem matar-me por causa de Rebeca, porque é muito bonita”.

Y los hombres de aquel lugar le preguntaron acerca de su mujer; y él respondió: Es mi hermana; porque tuvo miedo de decir: Es mi mujer; que tal vez, dijo, los hombres del lugar me matarían por causa de Rebeca; porque era de hermoso aspecto.

And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

The men of the place asked him about his wife. He said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say, “My wife”, lest, he thought, “the men of the place might kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to look at.”

Isaque já morava ali havia muito tempo, quando Abimeleque, rei dos filisteus, viu da janela que Isaque acariciava Rebeca, sua mulher.

Y sucedió que, después que él estuvo allí muchos días, Abimelech, rey de los Filisteos, mirando por una ventana, vió á Isaac que jugaba con Rebeca su mujer.

And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

Então Abimeleque mandou chamar Isaque e disse: “É claro que ela é sua esposa! Por que você disse que ela era sua irmã?” Isaque respondeu: “Porque fiquei com medo. Achei que alguém poderia me matar para ficar com ela”.

Y llamó Abimelech á Isaac, y dijo: He aquí ella es de cierto tu mujer: ¿cómo, pues, dijiste: Es mi hermana? E Isaac le respondió: Porque dije: Quizá moriré por causa de ella.

And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

Abimelech called Isaac, and said, “Behold, surely she is your wife. Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac said to him, “Because I said, ‘Lest I die because of her.’”

Disse Abimeleque: “Como você pôde fazer uma coisa dessas conosco? Um de nós poderia facilmente ter-se deitado com sua mulher e você teria trazido culpa sobre nós”.

Y Abimelech dijo: ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? Por poco hubiera dormido alguno del pueblo con tu mujer, y hubieras traído sobre nosotros el pecado.

And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

Abimelech said, “What is this you have done to us? One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!”

E o rei deu a seguinte ordem ao povo: “Qualquer um que tocar neste homem ou em sua mulher certamente morrerá!”

Entonces Abimelech mandó á todo el pueblo, diciendo: El que tocare á este hombre ó á su mujer, de cierto morirá.

And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

Abimelech commanded all the people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”

Isaque semeou naquela terra e, no mesmo ano, colheu a cem por um, porque o Senhor o abençoava.

Y sembró Isaac en aquella tierra, y halló aquel año ciento por uno: y bendíjole Jehová.

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.

Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year one hundred times what he planted. The LORD blessed him.

Ele enriqueceu, prosperou, até ficar muito rico.

Y el varón se engrandeció, y fué adelantando y engrandeciéndose, hasta hacerse muy poderoso:

And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

The man grew great, and grew more and more until he became very great.

Possuía ovelhas e bois e um grande número de servos, a tal ponto que os filisteus o invejavam.

Y tuvo hato de ovejas, y hato de vacas, y grande apero; y los Filisteos le tuvieron envidia.

For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

He had possessions of flocks, possessions of herds, and a great household. The Philistines envied him.

Por isso, tapavam todos os poços que os servos de Abraão, seu pai, tinham cavado nos seus dias, enchendo-os de terra.

Y todos los pozos que habían abierto los criados de Abraham su padre en sus días, los Filisteos los habían cegado y llenado de tierra.

For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.

Now all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped, and filled with earth.

Então Abimeleque disse a Isaque: “Vá para outro lugar, pois você ficou mais rico e mais poderoso do que nós”.

Y dijo Abimelech á Isaac: Apártate de nosotros, porque mucho más poderoso que nosotros te has hecho.

And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.

Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”

Então, Isaque saiu de lá, acampou-se no vale de Gerar, e ficou morando ali.

E Isaac se fué de allí; y asentó sus tiendas en el valle de Gerar, y habitó allí.

And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.

Isaac departed from there, encamped in the valley of Gerar, and lived there.

Ele voltou a abrir os poços cavados no tempo do seu pai Abraão. Os filisteus tinham enchido de terra aqueles poços, depois da morte de Abraão. E Isaque deu aos poços os mesmos nomes que seu pai tinha dado.

Y volvió á abrir Isaac los pozos de agua que habían abierto en los días de Abraham su padre, y que los Filisteos habían cegado, muerto Abraham; y llamólos por los nombres que su padre los había llamado.

And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

Isaac dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham. He called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

Os servos de Isaque cavaram um novo poço no vale e viram brotar ali uma fonte de águas subterrâneas.

Y los siervos de Isaac cavaron en el valle, y hallaron allí un pozo de aguas vivas.

And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.

Isaac’s servants dug in the valley, and found there a well of flowing water.

Mas os pastores de Gerar brigaram com os pastores de Isaque, dizendo: “Esta água é nossa!” Por isso, Isaque chamou o poço de Eseque, porque discutiram por causa dele.

Y los pastores de Gerar riñeron con los pastores de Isaac, diciendo: El agua es nuestra: por eso llamó el nombre del pozo Esek, porque habían altercado con él.

And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.

The herdsmen of Gerar argued with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him.

Então os homens de Isaque abriram outro poço, e novamente houve briga por causa dele. Por isso, recebeu o nome de Sitna.

Y abrieron otro pozo, y también riñeron sobre él: y llamó su nombre Sitnah.

And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.

They dug another well, and they argued over that, also. So he called its name Sitnah.

Saindo dali, Isaque mandou cavar outro poço, e como ninguém brigou por causa dele, chamou-o de Reobote e disse: “Agora o Senhor nos deu um lugar e prosperaremos na terra”.

Y apartóse de allí, y abrió otro pozo, y no riñeron sobre él: y llamó su nombre Rehoboth, y dijo: Porque ahora nos ha hecho ensanchar Jehová, y fructificaremos en la tierra.

And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

He left that place, and dug another well. They didn’t argue over that one. So he called it Rehoboth. He said, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”

Dali Isaque foi até Berseba.

Y de allí subió á Beer-seba.

And he went up from thence to Beer-sheba.

He went up from there to Beersheba.

Na mesma noite, o Senhor lhe apareceu e disse: “Eu sou o Deus do seu pai Abraão. Não tenha medo, porque estou com você; eu o abençoarei e multiplicarei os seus descendentes, por amor ao meu servo Abraão”.

Y apareciósele Jehová aquella noche, y dijo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham tu padre; no temas, que yo soy contigo, y yo te bendeciré, y multiplicaré tu simiente por amor de Abraham mi siervo.

And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

The LORD appeared to him the same night, and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”

Isaque construiu um altar e ofereceu culto ao Senhor. Ele armou ali as suas tendas, e os seus servos cavaram outro poço.

Y edificó allí un altar, é invocó el nombre de Jehová, y tendió allí su tienda: y abrieron allí los siervos de Isaac un pozo.

And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well.

He built an altar there, and called on the LORD’s name, and pitched his tent there. There Isaac’s servants dug a well.

Certo dia, Isaque recebeu visita de Gerar. Eram o rei Abimeleque, o conselheiro real Auzate e Ficol, o comandante do seu exército.

Y Abimelech vino á él desde Gerar, y Ahuzzath, amigo suyo, y Phicol, capitán de su ejército.

Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.

Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath his friend, and Phicol the captain of his army.

Isaque perguntou: “Por que vieram a mim, visto que foram hostis comigo e me mandaram embora?”

Y díjoles Isaac: ¿Por qué venís á mí, pues que me habéis aborrecido, y me echasteis de entre vosotros?

And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?

Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me, and have sent me away from you?”

Eles responderam: “Vimos claramente que o Senhor está com você; por isso dissemos:

Y ellos respondieron: Hemos visto que Jehová es contigo; y dijimos: Haya ahora juramento entre nosotros, entre nosotros y ti, y haremos alianza contigo:

And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

They said, “We saw plainly that the LORD was with you. We said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let’s make a covenant with you,

‘Façamos um juramento entre nós e façamos uma aliança. Você não nos prejudicará, assim como nós não prejudicaremos você. Na verdade, nós tratamos bem você e o despedimos em paz. Vemos que o Senhor tem abençoado você’ ”.

Que no nos hagas mal, como nosotros no te hemos tocado, y como solamente te hemos hecho bien, y te enviamos en paz: tú ahora, bendito de Jehová.

That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.

that you will do us no harm, as we have not touched you, and as we have done to you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace.’ You are now the blessed of the LORD.”

Então Isaque ofereceu um banquete para eles, e comeram e beberam.

Entonces él les hizo banquete, y comieron y bebieron.

And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.

He made them a feast, and they ate and drank.

De manhã bem cedo, os dois fizeram um juramento. Isaque os despediu, e eles partiram em paz.

Y se levantaron de madrugada, y juraron el uno al otro; é Isaac los despidió, y ellos se partieron de él en paz.

And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.

They rose up some time in the morning, and swore an oath to one another. Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.

Naquele mesmo dia, os servos de Isaque vieram contar-lhe a respeito de um poço que tinham cavado, e disseram: “Achamos água!”

Y en aquel día sucedió que vinieron los criados de Isaac, y diéronle nuevas acerca del pozo que habían abierto, y le dijeron: Agua hemos hallado.

And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water.

The same day, Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had dug, and said to him, “We have found water.”

Isaque deu ao poço o nome de Seba e, por isso, aquela cidade é conhecida como Berseba.

Y llamólo Seba: por cuya causa el nombre de aquella ciudad es Beer-seba hasta este día.

And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beer-sheba unto this day.

He called it “Shibah”. Therefore the name of the city is “Beersheba” to this day.

Esaú tinha quarenta anos quando casou com Judite, filha do heteu Beeri. Casou também com Basemate, filha do heteu Elom.

Y cuando Esaú fué de cuarenta años, tomó por mujer á Judith hija de Beeri Hetheo, y á Basemat hija de Elón Hetheo:

And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:

When Esau was forty years old, he took as wife Judith, the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath, the daughter of Elon the Hittite.

Ambas amarguraram a vida de Isaque e de Rebeca.

Y fueron amargura de espíritu á Isaac y á Rebeca.

Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.

They grieved Isaac’s and Rebekah’s spirits.
