Es kam aber eine Hungersnot über das Land, wie schon früher einmal eine zur Zeit Abrahams geherrscht hatte; darum begab sich Isaak nach Gerar zu dem Philisterkönig Abimelech.

Y HUBO hambre en la tierra, además de la primera hambre que fué en los días de Abraham: y fuése Isaac á Abimelech rey de los Filisteos, en Gerar.

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

Denn der HERR war ihm erschienen und hatte zu ihm gesagt: »Ziehe nicht nach Ägypten hinab, sondern nimm deinen Wohnsitz in dem Lande, das ich dir angeben werde!

Y apareciósele Jehová, y díjole: No desciendas á Egipto: habita en la tierra que yo te diré;

And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

Bleibe als Fremdling in diesem Lande wohnen; ich will mit dir sein und dich segnen; denn dir und deinen Nachkommen will ich alle diese Länder geben und so den Eid erfüllen, den ich deinem Vater Abraham geschworen habe:

Habita en esta tierra, y seré contigo, y te bendeciré; porque á ti y á tu simiente daré todas estas tierras, y confirmaré el juramento que juré á Abraham tu padre:

Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

Live in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For I will give to you, and to your offspring, all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.

ich will deine Nachkommen so zahlreich werden lassen wie die Sterne am Himmel und will deinen Nachkommen alle diese Länder geben; und in deiner Nachkommenschaft sollen alle Völker der Erde gesegnet werden,

Y multiplicaré tu simiente como las estrellas del cielo, y daré á tu simiente todas estas tierras; y todas las gentes de la tierra serán benditas en tu simiente:

And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,

zum Lohn dafür, daß Abraham meinen Weisungen gehorsam gewesen ist und meine Anordnungen beobachtet hat, meine Gebote, meine Satzungen und meine Gesetze.«

Por cuanto oyó Abraham mi voz, y guardó mi precepto, mis mandamientos, mis estatutos y mis leyes.

So blieb denn Isaak in Gerar wohnen.

Habitó, pues, Isaac en Gerar.

Als nun die Bewohner des Ortes sich nach seiner Frau erkundigten, sagte er: »Sie ist meine Schwester«; er scheute sich nämlich zu sagen: »Sie ist meine Frau«; »denn«, dachte er, »es könnten sonst die Leute des Ortes mich um Rebekkas willen ums Leben bringen; sie ist ja von großer Schönheit«.

Y los hombres de aquel lugar le preguntaron acerca de su mujer; y él respondió: Es mi hermana; porque tuvo miedo de decir: Es mi mujer; que tal vez, dijo, los hombres del lugar me matarían por causa de Rebeca; porque era de hermoso aspecto.

And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

The men of the place asked him about his wife. He said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say, “My wife”, lest, he thought, “the men of the place might kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to look at.”

Als er sich nun längere Zeit dort aufgehalten hatte, schaute der Philisterkönig Abimelech einmal zum Fenster hinaus und sah, wie Isaak seine Frau Rebekka herzte.

And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

Da ließ Abimelech den Isaak rufen und sagte: »Sie ist ja doch deine Frau! Wie hast du sie da für deine Schwester ausgeben können?« Isaak antwortete ihm: »Ja, ich dachte, ich müßte sonst ihretwegen sterben.«

And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

Abimelech called Isaac, and said, “Behold, surely she is your wife. Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac said to him, “Because I said, ‘Lest I die because of her.’”

Da erwiderte Abimelech: »Was hast du uns da angetan! Wie leicht hätte es geschehen können, daß einer aus dem Volke hier deiner Frau Gewalt angetan hätte! Dann würdest du eine Verschuldung über uns gebracht haben.«

Y Abimelech dijo: ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? Por poco hubiera dormido alguno del pueblo con tu mujer, y hubieras traído sobre nosotros el pecado.

And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

Abimelech said, “What is this you have done to us? One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!”

Hierauf gebot Abimelech dem ganzen Volke: »Wer sich an diesem Manne oder an seiner Frau vergreift, soll unfehlbar mit dem Tode bestraft werden!«

Entonces Abimelech mandó á todo el pueblo, diciendo: El que tocare á este hombre ó á su mujer, de cierto morirá.

And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

Abimelech commanded all the people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”

Isaak säte dann in jenem Lande und erntete in jenem Jahre das Hundertfache; denn der HERR segnete ihn.

Y sembró Isaac en aquella tierra, y halló aquel año ciento por uno: y bendíjole Jehová.

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.

So wurde er denn ein reicher Mann und wurde immer reicher, bis er über die Maßen reich war;

denn er besaß Herden von Kleinvieh und Herden von Rindern und ein zahlreiches Gesinde, so daß die Philister neidisch auf ihn wurden.

Y tuvo hato de ovejas, y hato de vacas, y grande apero; y los Filisteos le tuvieron envidia.

For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

Daher verschütteten die Philister alle Brunnen, welche die Knechte seines Vaters einst bei Lebzeiten seines Vaters Abraham gegraben hatten, und füllten sie mit Schutt an.

Y todos los pozos que habían abierto los criados de Abraham su padre en sus días, los Filisteos los habían cegado y llenado de tierra.

For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.

Da sagte Abimelech zu Isaak: »Verlaß unser Land, denn du bist uns zu stark geworden.«

Y dijo Abimelech á Isaac: Apártate de nosotros, porque mucho más poderoso que nosotros te has hecho.

And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.

Da zog Isaak von dort weg, schlug sein Lager im Tale von Gerar auf und nahm dort seinen Wohnsitz.

E Isaac se fué de allí; y asentó sus tiendas en el valle de Gerar, y habitó allí.

And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.

Hierauf ließ Isaak die Wasserbrunnen, welche man bei Lebzeiten seines Vaters Abraham gegraben und die die Philister nach dem Tode Abrahams verschüttet hatten, wieder aufgraben und legte ihnen dieselben Namen bei, die sein Vater ihnen gegeben hatte.

Y volvió á abrir Isaac los pozos de agua que habían abierto en los días de Abraham su padre, y que los Filisteos habían cegado, muerto Abraham; y llamólos por los nombres que su padre los había llamado.

And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

Auch gruben die Leute Isaaks im Talgrunde nach und fanden dort einen Brunnen mit Quellwasser.

Aber die Hirten von Gerar fingen mit den Hirten Isaaks Streit an, indem sie behaupteten, das Wasser gehöre ihnen. Da nannte er den Brunnen ›Zankbrunnen‹, weil sie sich dort mit ihm gezankt hatten.

Y los pastores de Gerar riñeron con los pastores de Isaac, diciendo: El agua es nuestra: por eso llamó el nombre del pozo Esek, porque habían altercado con él.

And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.

The herdsmen of Gerar argued with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him.

Dann gruben sie einen andern Brunnen, gerieten aber auch über diesen in Streit; daher nannte er ihn ›Anfeindung‹.

Y abrieron otro pozo, y también riñeron sobre él: y llamó su nombre Sitnah.

And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.

Darauf zog er von dort weiter und grub wieder einen Brunnen, über den dann kein Streit mehr entstand; daher nannte er ihn ›Freier Raum‹, indem er sagte: »Jetzt hat der HERR uns freien Raum geschafft, so daß wir uns im Lande ausbreiten können.«

Y apartóse de allí, y abrió otro pozo, y no riñeron sobre él: y llamó su nombre Rehoboth, y dijo: Porque ahora nos ha hecho ensanchar Jehová, y fructificaremos en la tierra.

And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

He left that place, and dug another well. They didn’t argue over that one. So he called it Rehoboth. He said, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”

Von dort zog er dann nach Beerseba hinauf.

Da erschien ihm der HERR in jener Nacht und sprach: »Ich bin der Gott deines Vaters Abraham. Fürchte dich nicht, denn ich bin mit dir; ich will dich segnen und deine Nachkommenschaft zahlreich werden lassen um meines Knechtes Abraham willen.«

Y apareciósele Jehová aquella noche, y dijo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham tu padre; no temas, que yo soy contigo, y yo te bendeciré, y multiplicaré tu simiente por amor de Abraham mi siervo.

And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

The LORD appeared to him the same night, and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”

Da baute er dort einen Altar, rief den Namen des HERRN an und schlug dort sein Zelt auf; hierauf gruben die Knechte Isaaks dort nach einem Brunnen.

Y edificó allí un altar, é invocó el nombre de Jehová, y tendió allí su tienda: y abrieron allí los siervos de Isaac un pozo.

And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well.

Da kam Abimelech mit seinem Freunde Ahussath und seinem Heerführer Pichol aus Gerar zu ihm.

Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.

Isaak fragte sie: »Warum kommt ihr zu mir, da ihr doch feindlich gegen mich gesinnt seid und mich aus eurem Lande vertrieben habt?«

Y díjoles Isaac: ¿Por qué venís á mí, pues que me habéis aborrecido, y me echasteis de entre vosotros?

And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?

Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me, and have sent me away from you?”

Da antworteten sie: »Wir haben klar erkannt, daß der HERR mit dir ist; darum haben wir gedacht, es solle doch ein eidliches Abkommen zwischen uns beiden, zwischen uns und dir, zustande kommen, und wir wollen einen Vertrag mit dir schließen,

Y ellos respondieron: Hemos visto que Jehová es contigo; y dijimos: Haya ahora juramento entre nosotros, entre nosotros y ti, y haremos alianza contigo:

And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

They said, “We saw plainly that the LORD was with you. We said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let’s make a covenant with you,

daß du uns nichts zuleide tun willst, wie auch wir dir keinen Schaden zugefügt, sondern dir nur Gutes erwiesen und dich in Frieden haben ziehen lassen: du bist nun einmal der Gesegnete des HERRN!«

Que no nos hagas mal, como nosotros no te hemos tocado, y como solamente te hemos hecho bien, y te enviamos en paz: tú ahora, bendito de Jehová.

That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.

that you will do us no harm, as we have not touched you, and as we have done to you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace.’ You are now the blessed of the LORD.”

Da richtete er ihnen ein Gastmahl aus, und sie aßen und tranken.

And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.

An demselben Tage kamen dann die Knechte Isaaks und berichteten ihm von dem Brunnen, den sie gegraben hatten, mit den Worten: »Wir haben Wasser gefunden!«

Y en aquel día sucedió que vinieron los criados de Isaac, y diéronle nuevas acerca del pozo que habían abierto, y le dijeron: Agua hemos hallado.

And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water.

Da nannte er ihn ›Sibea‹ (Sebua = Schwur, Eidvertrag). Daher heißt die Stadt dort ›Beerseba‹ bis auf den heutigen Tag.

And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beer-sheba unto this day.

die waren ein Herzenskummer für Isaak und Rebekka.

Y fueron amargura de espíritu á Isaac y á Rebeca.

Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.

They grieved Isaac’s and Rebekah’s spirits.
