And Sarah died in Kirjath-arba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

Y concluido que hubo las ceremonias del funeral, habló a los hijos de Het, diciendo:

And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying,

I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

Respondieron los hijos de Het, diciendo:

Escúchanos, señor, tú eres entre nosotros un príncipe de Dios o un príncipe grande; entierra tu difunto en la que mejor te pareciere de nuestras sepulturas; que no habrá nadie que pueda impedirte el colocar en su sepultura a tu muerto.
Oyenos, señor mío, eres un príncipe de Dios entre nosotros; en lo mejor de nuestras sepulturas sepulta á tu muerto; ninguno de nosotros te impedirá su sepultura, para que entierres tu muerto.
Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
“Hear us, my lord. You are a prince of God among us. Bury your dead in the best of our tombs. None of us will withhold from you his tomb. Bury your dead.”
Se levantó Abrahán, e hizo una profunda reverencia al pueblo de aquella tierra, esto es, a los hijos de Het,

That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a buryingplace amongst you.

Hallábase allí Efrón en medio de los hijos de Het. Y respondió a Abrahán oyéndolo todos los que concurrían a la puerta de aquella ciudad, y dijo:
Este Ephrón hallábase entre los hijos de Heth: y respondió Ephrón Hetheo á Abraham, en oídos de los hijos de Heth, de todos los que entraban por la puerta de su ciudad, diciendo:
And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,
Now Ephron was sitting in the middle of the children of Heth. Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the children of Heth, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,
No, señor mío, no ha de ser así, escucha más bien lo que voy a decirte: Yo pongo a tu disposición el campo, y la cueva que hay en él, siendo testigos los hijos de mi pueblo; entierra allí tu difunto.
No, señor mío, óyeme: te doy la heredad, y te doy también la cueva que está en ella; delante de los hijos de mi pueblo te la doy; sepulta tu muerto.
Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.
“No, my lord, hear me. I give you the field, and I give you the cave that is in it. In the presence of the children of my people I give it to you. Bury your dead.”
Abrahán hizo una profunda reverencia delante del pueblo del país,

And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.

A esto respondió Efrón:
Y respondió Ephrón á Abraham, diciéndole:

Señor mío, óyeme: La tierra que pretendes vale cuatrocientos siclos de plata: éste es el precio de lo que tratamos entre los dos. Mas ¿qué cantidad es ésta? Entierra tu difunto, y no hablemos más de eso.
Señor mío, escúchame: la tierra vale cuatrocientos siclos de plata: ¿qué es esto entre mí y ti? entierra pues tu muerto.
My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
“My lord, listen to me. What is a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver between me and you? Therefore bury your dead.”
Abrahán, oído esto, hizo pesar el dinero determinado por Efrón, a presencia de los hijos de Het, es a saber, cuatrocientos siclos de plata de buena moneda corriente.

Abraham listened to Ephron. Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the hearing of the children of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, according to the current merchants’ standard.
Con esto aquel campo que antes era de Efrón, en que había una cueva doble, mirando hacia Mambre, tanto el campo, como la cueva, con todos los árboles en todo su término alrededor,
Y quedó la heredad de Ephrón que estaba en Macpela enfrente de Mamre, la heredad y la cueva que estaba en ella, y todos los árboles que había en la heredad, y en todo su término al derredor,
And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure

De esta manera sepultó Abrahán a Sara su esposa en la cueva doble del campo enfrente de Mambre, en donde está la ciudad de Hebrón, en la tierra de Canaán.
Y después de esto sepultó Abraham á Sara su mujer en la cueva de la heredad de Macpela enfrente de Mamre, que es Hebrón en la tierra de Canaán.
And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.

Y los hijos de Het confirmaron a Abrahán el dominio del campo y de la cueva que en él había, para que le sirviese de sepultura.

And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace by the sons of Heth.
