And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

Abraham decía que su esposa Sara era su hermana. Entonces Abimelec, rey de Gerar, mandó a buscar a Sara y se la llevó.
Y dijo Abraham de Sara su mujer: Mi hermana es. Y Abimelech, rey de Gerar, envió y tomó á Sara.
And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
Abraham said about Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
Pero Dios se le apareció a Abimelec en un sueño nocturno y le dijo: “Date por muerto a causa de la mujer que has tomado, porque es una mujer casada”.
Empero Dios vino á Abimelech en sueños de noche, y le dijo: He aquí muerto eres á causa de la mujer que has tomado, la cual es casada con marido.
But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.
But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Behold, you are a dead man, because of the woman whom you have taken; for she is a man’s wife.”

But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
Now Abimelech had not come near her. He said, “Lord, will you kill even a righteous nation?

Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
Didn’t he tell me, ‘She is my sister’? She, even she herself, said, ‘He is my brother.’ I have done this in the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands.”
Dios le respondió en el sueño: “Sí, yo sé que has actuado con buenas intenciones. Por eso yo mismo te impedí pecar contra mí y no te permití que la tocaras.
Y díjole Dios en sueños: Yo también sé que con integridad de tu corazón has hecho esto; y yo también te detuve de pecar contra mí, y así no te permití que la tocases.
And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.
God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also withheld you from sinning against me. Therefore I didn’t allow you to touch her.
Pero ahora, devuélvele su esposa a ese hombre. Él es profeta y orará por ti para que vivas. Pero si no se la devuelves, ten por seguro que morirás, tú y todos los tuyos”.
Ahora, pues, vuelve la mujer á su marido; porque es profeta, y orará por ti, y vivirás. Y si tú no la volvieres, sabe que de cierto morirás, con todo lo que fuere tuyo.
Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
Now therefore, restore the man’s wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don’t restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours.”
Al día siguiente, Abimelec se levantó muy temprano, llamó a todos sus servidores y les contó todo lo que había pasado. Al oírlo, los hombres se llenaron de miedo.
Entonces Abimelech se levantó de mañana, y llamó á todos sus siervos, y dijo todas estas palabras en los oídos de ellos; y temieron los hombres en gran manera.

Después llamó Abimelech á Abraham, y le dijo: ¿Qué nos has hecho? ¿y en qué pequé yo contra ti, que has atraído sobre mí y sobre mi reino tan gran pecado? lo que no debiste hacer has hecho conmigo.
Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done!”
Y añadió Abimelec: “¿Qué pretendías al hacer esto?”
Y dijo más Abimelech á Abraham: ¿Qué viste para que hicieses esto?
And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?
Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you see, that you have done this thing?”
Abraham le respondió: “Es que yo pensé: ‘Seguramente en este lugar no hay temor de Dios, y me matarán por causa de mi esposa’.
Y Abraham respondió: Porque dije para mí: Cierto no hay temor de Dios en este lugar, y me matarán por causa de mi mujer.
And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.
Abraham said, “Because I thought, ‘Surely the fear of God is not in this place. They will kill me for my wife’s sake.’
Además, ella es en verdad mi hermana, pues es hija de mi padre, aunque no de mi madre; y llegó a ser mi esposa.

And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

Cuando Dios me hizo salir de la casa de mi padre para andar errante, yo le dije a ella: ‘Hazme este favor: en cualquier lugar adonde vayamos, di siempre que soy tu hermano’”.

And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.

Entonces Abimelec tomó ovejas y vacas, esclavos y esclavas, y se los regaló a Abraham; además, le devolvió a su esposa Sara.

A Sara le dijo: “Mira, le he entregado a tu hermano mil monedas de plata. Esto servirá como compensación para ti ante todos los que están contigo; así quedarás libre de toda culpa”.
Y á Sara dijo: He aquí he dado mil monedas de plata á tu hermano; mira que él te es por velo de ojos para todos los que están contigo, y para con todos: así fué reprendida.
And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.
To Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is for you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you. In front of all you are vindicated.”
Entonces Abraham oró a Dios, y Dios sanó a Abimelec, a su esposa y a sus esclavas, para que pudieran tener hijos,
Entonces Abraham oró á Dios; y Dios sanó á Abimelech y á su mujer, y á sus siervas, y parieron.
So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.
