Y SARAI, mujer de Abram, no le paría: y ella tenía una sierva egipcia, que se llamaba Agar.
Now Sarai Abram’s wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, bore him no children. She had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
así que Sarai le dijo a Abram: “Por favor, escúchame. El Señor no me permite tener hijos. Así que por favor ve y acuéstate con mi esclava. Depronto así podré tener una familia por medio de ella”. Abram aceptó la sugerencia de Sarai.
Dijo, pues, Sarai á Abram: Ya ves que Jehová me ha hecho estéril: ruégote que entres á mi sierva; quizá tendré hijos de ella. Y atendió Abram al dicho de Sarai.
And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing. Please go in to my servant. It may be that I will obtain children by her.” Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.
Así que Sarai, la esposa de Abram, tomó a su esclava egipcia Agar, y se la entregó a su esposo como su esposa. Abram había estado viviendo en la tierra de Canaán por diez años cuando esto sucedió.
Y Sarai, mujer de Abram, tomó á Agar su sierva egipcia, al cabo de diez años que había habitado Abram en la tierra de Canaán, y dióla á Abram su marido por mujer.
And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her servant, after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to Abram her husband to be his wife.
Abram se acostó con Agar y ella quedó embarazada. Cuando ella se dio cuenta de que estaba embarazada, comenzó a tratar a Sarai con desdén.
Y él cohabitó con Agar, la cual concibió: y cuando vió que había concebido, miraba con desprecio á su señora.
And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
He went in to Hagar, and she conceived. When she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
Entonces Sarai se quejó con Abram: “¡Esto que estoy sufriendo es por tu culpa! Te entregué a mi esclava para que te acostaras con ella, y ahora que sabe que está embarazada me trata con menosprecio. ¡Que el Señor decida entre los dos quién es el culpable, si tú o yo!”
Entonces Sarai dijo á Abram: Mi afrenta sea sobre ti: yo puse mi sierva en tu seno, y viéndose embarazada, me mira con desprecio; juzgue Jehová entre mí y ti.
And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.
Sarai said to Abram, “This wrong is your fault. I gave my servant into your bosom, and when she saw that she had conceived, she despised me. May the LORD judge between me and you.”
“¡Es tu esclava!” respondió Abram. “Puedes hacer con ella lo que quieras”. Y Sarai trataba a Agar con tanta crueldad, que Agar huyó.
Y respondió Abram á Sarai: He ahí tu sierva en tu mano, haz con ella lo que bien te pareciere. Y como Sarai la afligiese, huyóse de su presencia.
But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.
But Abram said to Sarai, “Behold, your maid is in your hand. Do to her whatever is good in your eyes.” Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her face.
Entonces el ángel del Señor vino al encuentro de Agar junto un manantial en el desierto que está de camino al sur.
Y hallóla el ángel de Jehová junto á una fuente de agua en el desierto, junto á la fuente que está en el camino del Sur.
And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
The LORD’s angel found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain on the way to Shur.
Y le preguntó: “¿De dónde vienes, Agar, esclava de Sarai, y hacia dónde vas?” “Estoy huyendo de mi señora Sarai”, respondió Agar.
Y le dijo: Agar, sierva de Sarai, ¿de dónde vienes tú, y á dónde vas? Y ella respondió: Huyo de delante de Sarai, mi señora.
And he said, Hagar, Sarai’s maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.
He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s servant, where did you come from? Where are you going?” She said, “I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.”
“Vuelve a donde tu señora y obedécele”, le dijo el ángel del Señor.
Y díjole el ángel de Jehová: Vuélvete á tu señora, y ponte sumisa bajo de su mano.
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.
The LORD’s angel said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands.”
Y continuó diciendo: “Yo te daré muchos descendientes, y serán tantos que no podrán contarse”.
Díjole también el ángel de Jehová: Multiplicaré tanto tu linaje, que no será contado á causa de la muchedumbre.
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
The LORD’s angel said to her, “I will greatly multiply your offspring, that they will not be counted for multitude.”
Y siguió diciéndole: “Escucha, ahora estás embarazada y tendrás un hijo. Le pondrás por nombre Ismael, porque el Señor ha escuchado cuánto has sufrido.
Díjole aún el ángel de Jehová: He aquí que has concebido, y parirás un hijo, y llamarás su nombre Ismael, porque oído ha Jehová tu aflicción.
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
The LORD’s angel said to her, “Behold, you are with child, and will bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because the LORD has heard your affliction.
Él será como un asno salvaje, que peleará con todos, y todos pelearán con él. Siempre estará en discordia con sus familiares”.
Y él será hombre fiero; su mano contra todos, y las manos de todos contra él, y delante de todos sus hermanos habitará.
And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
He will be like a wild donkey among men. His hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. He will live opposed to all of his brothers.”
Desde ese momento, Agar clamó al Señor que habló con ella: “Eres el Dios que me ve”, porque ella dijo: “Aquí vi al que me ve”.
Entonces llamó el nombre de Jehová que con ella hablaba: Tú eres el Dios de la vista; porque dijo: ¿No he visto también aquí al que me ve?
And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?
She called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are a God who sees,” for she said, “Have I even stayed alive after seeing him?”
Es por ese que ese pozo se llama “el pozo del Ser Viviente que me ve”. Aún existe entre Cades y Béred.
Por lo cual llamó al pozo, Pozo del Viviente que me ve. He aquí está entre Cades y Bered.
Wherefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.
Therefore the well was called Beer Lahai Roi. Behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.
Agar dio a luz un hijo para Abram, y Abram le puso por nombre Ismael.
Y parió Agar á Abram un hijo, y llamó Abram el nombre de su hijo que le parió Agar, Ismael.
And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son’s name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
Hagar bore a son for Abram. Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.
Cuando Agar tuvo a Ismael, Abram tenían 86 años.
Y era Abram de edad de ochenta y seis años, cuando parió Agar á Ismael.
And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.
Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.
