Gálatas 4

1Nun ihr aber Gott erkannt habt, ja vielmehr von Gott erkannt seid, wie wendet ihr euch denn um wieder zu den schwachen und dürftigen Satzungen, welchen ihr von neuem an dienen wollt?
2Ihr haltet Tage und Monden und Feste und Jahrzeiten.
3Ich fürchte für euch, daß ich nicht vielleicht umsonst habe an euch gearbeitet.
4Seid doch wie ich, denn ich bin wie ihr. Liebe Brüder, ich bitte euch, ihr habt mir kein Leid getan.
5Denn ihr wisset, daß ich euch in Schwachheit nach dem Fleisch das Evangelium geprediget habe zum erstenmal.
6Und meine Anfechtungen, die ich leide nach dem Fleisch, habt ihr nicht verachtet noch verschmähet, sondern als einen Engel Gottes nahmet ihr mich auf, ja als Christum Jesum.
7Wie waret ihr dazumal so selig! Ich bin euer Zeuge, daß, wenn es möglich gewesen wäre, ihr hättet eure Augen ausgerissen und mir gegeben.
8Bin ich denn also euer Feind worden, daß ich euch die Wahrheit vorhalte?
9Sie eifern um euch nicht fein, sondern sie wollen euch von mir abfällig machen, daß ihr um sie sollt eifern.
10Eifern ist gut, wenn's immerdar geschiehet um das Gute und nicht allein, wenn ich gegenwärtig bei euch bin.
11Meine lieben Kinder, welche ich abermal mit Ängsten gebäre, bis daß Christus in euch eine Gestalt gewinne.
12Ich wollte aber, daß ich jetzt bei euch wäre, und meine Stimme wandeln könnte, denn ich bin irre an euch.
13Saget mir, die ihr unter dem Gesetz sein wollt: Habt ihr das Gesetz nicht gehöret?
14Denn es stehet geschrieben, daß Abraham zween Söhne hatte, einen von der Magd, den andern von der Freien.
15Aber der von der Magd war, ist nach dem Fleisch geboren; der aber von der Freien, ist durch die Verheißung geboren.
16Die Worte bedeuten etwas. Denn das sind die zwei Testamente, eines von dem Berge Sinai, das zur Knechtschaft gebieret, welches ist die Hagar.
17Denn Hagar heißet in Arabien der Berg Sinai und langet bis gen Jerusalem, das zu dieser Zeit ist, und ist dienstbar mit seinen Kindern.
18Aber das Jerusalem, das droben ist, das ist die Freie, die ist unser aller Mutter.
19Denn es stehet geschrieben: Sei fröhlich, du Unfruchtbare, die du nicht gebierest, und brich hervor und rufe, die du nicht schwanger bist! Denn die Einsame hat viel mehr Kinder, denn die den Mann hat.
20Wir aber, liebe Brüder, sind Isaak nach der Verheißung Kinder.
21Aber gleichwie zu der Zeit, der nach dem Fleisch geboren war, verfolgete den, der nach dem Geist geboren war, also gehet es jetzt auch.
22Aber was spricht die Schrift? Stoß die Magd hinaus mit ihrem Sohn! Denn der Magd Sohn soll nicht erben mit dem Sohn der Freien.
23So sind wir nun, liebe Brüder, nicht der Magd Kinder, sondern der Freien.
24So bestehet nun in der Freiheit, damit uns Christus befreiet hat, und lasset euch nicht wiederum in das knechtische Joch fangen!
25Siehe, ich, Paulus, sage euch: Wo ihr euch beschneiden lasset, so ist euch Christus kein nütze.
26Ich zeuge abermal einem jeden, der sich beschneiden läßt, daß er noch das ganze Gesetz schuldig ist zu tun.
27Ihr habt Christum verloren, die ihr durch das Gesetz gerecht werden wollt, und seid von der Gnade gefallen.
28Wir aber warten im Geist durch den Glauben der Gerechtigkeit, der man hoffen muß.
29Denn in Christo Jesu gilt weder Beschneidung noch Vorhaut etwas, sondern der Glaube, der durch die Liebe tätig ist.
30Ihr liefet fein. Wer hat euch aufgehalten, der Wahrheit nicht zu gehorchen?
31Solch Überreden ist nicht von dem, der euch berufen hat.

1TAMBIÉN digo: Entre tanto que el heredero es niño, en nada difiere del siervo, aunque es señor de todo;
2Mas está debajo de tutores y curadores hasta el tiempo señalado por el padre.
3Así también nosotros, cuando éramos niños, éramos siervos bajo los rudimentos del mundo.
4Mas venido el cumplimiento del tiempo, Dios envió su Hijo, hecho de mujer, hecho súbdito á la ley,
5Para que redimiese á los que estaban debajo de la ley, á fin de que recibiésemos la adopción de hijos.
6Y por cuanto sois hijos, Dios envió el Espíritu de su Hijo en vuestros corazones, el cual clama: Abba, Padre.
7Así que ya no eres más siervo, sino hijo; y si hijo, también heredero de Dios por Cristo.
8Antes, en otro tiempo, no conociendo á Dios, servíais á los que por naturaleza no son dioses:
9Mas ahora, habiendo conocido á Dios, ó más bien, siendo conocidos de Dios, ¿cómo os volvéis de nuevo á los flacos y pobres rudimentos, en los cuales queréis volver á servir?
10Guardáis los días, y los meses, y los tiempos, y los años.
11Temo de vosotros, que no haya trabajado en vano en vosotros.
12Hermanos, os ruego, sed como yo, porque yo soy como vosotros: ningún agravio me habéis hecho.
13Que vosotros sabéis que por flaqueza de carne os anuncié el evangelio al principio:
14Y no desechasteis ni menospreciasteis mi tentación que estaba en mi carne: antes me recibisteis como á un ángel de Dios, como á Cristo Jesús.
15¿Dónde está pues vuestra bienaventuranza? porque yo os doy testimonio que si se pudiera hacer, os hubierais sacado vuestros ojos para dármelos.
16¿Heme pues hecho vuestro enemigo, diciéndoos la verdad?
17Tienen celos de vosotros, pero no bien: antes os quieren echar fuera para que vosotros los celéis á ellos.
18Bueno es ser celosos en bien siempre; y no solamente cuando estoy presente con vosotros.
19Hijitos míos, que vuelvo otra vez á estar de parto de vosotros, hasta que Cristo sea formado en vosotros;
20Querría cierto estar ahora con vosotros, y mudar mi voz; porque estoy perplejo en cuanto á vosotros.
21Decidme, los que queréis estar debajo de la ley, ¿no habéis oído la ley?
22Porque escrito está que Abraham tuvo dos hijos; uno de la sierva, el otro de la libre.
23Mas el de la sierva nació según la carne; pero el de la libre nació por la promesa.
24Las cuales cosas son dichas por alegoría: porque estas mujeres son los dos pactos; el uno ciertamente del monte Sinaí, el cual engendró para servidumbre, que es Agar.
25Porque Agar ó Sinaí es un monte de Arabia, el cual es conjunto á la que ahora es Jerusalem, la cual sirve con sus hijos.
26Mas la Jerusalem de arriba libre es; la cual es la madre de todos nosotros.
27Porque está escrito: Alégrate, estéril, que no pares: prorrumpe y clama, la que no estás de parto; porque más son los hijos de la dejada, que de la que tiene marido.
28Así que, hermanos, nosotros como Isaac somos hijos de la promesa.
29Empero como entonces el que era engendrado según la carne, perseguía al que había nacido según el Espíritu, así también ahora.
30Mas ¿qué dice la Escritura? Echa fuera á la sierva y á su hijo; porque no será heredero el hijo de la sierva con el hijo de la libre.
31De manera, hermanos, que no somos hijos de la sierva, mas de la libre.

1Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
2But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
3Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
4But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
8Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
9But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
10Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.
11I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
12Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.
13Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.
14And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
15Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.
16Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
17They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.
18But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.
19My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
20I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.
21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
29But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

1But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all,
2but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.
3So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.
4But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,
5that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as children.
6And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!”
7So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
8However at that time, not knowing God, you were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods.
9But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be in bondage all over again?
10You observe days, months, seasons, and years.
11I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.
12I beg you, brothers, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong,
13but you know that because of weakness in the flesh I preached the Good News to you the first time.
14That which was a temptation to you in my flesh, you didn’t despise nor reject; but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
15What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
16So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
17They zealously seek you in no good way. No, they desire to alienate you, that you may seek them.
18But it is always good to be zealous in a good cause, and not only when I am present with you.
19My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ is formed in you—
20but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.
21Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, don’t you listen to the law?
22For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant, and one by the free woman.
23However, the son by the servant was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise.
24These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar.
25For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children.
26But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
