Or un uomo della casa di Levi andò e prese per moglie una figliuola di Levi.

UN varón de la familia de Leví fué, y tomó por mujer una hija de Leví:

And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

A man of the house of Levi went and took a daughter of Levi as his wife.

Questa donna concepì, e partorì un figliuolo; e vedendo com’egli era bello, lo tenne nascosto tre mesi.

La cual concibió, y parió un hijo: y viéndolo que era hermoso, túvole escondido tres meses.

And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

E quando non poté più tenerlo nascosto, prese un canestro fatto di giunchi, lo spalmò di bitume e di pece, vi pose dentro il bambino, e lo mise nel canneto sulla riva del fiume.

Pero no pudiendo ocultarle más tiempo, tomó una arquilla de juncos, y calafateóla con pez y betún, y colocó en ella al niño, y púsolo en un carrizal á la orilla del río:

And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.

When she could no longer hide him, she took a papyrus basket for him, and coated it with tar and with pitch. She put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.

E la sorella del bambino se ne stava a una certa distanza, per sapere quel che gli succederebbe.

Y paróse una hermana suya á lo lejos, para ver lo que le acontecería.

And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

Or la figliuola di Faraone scese a fare le sue abluzioni sulla riva del fiume; e le sue donzelle passeggiavano lungo il fiume. Ella vide il canestro nel canneto, e mandò la sua cameriera a prenderlo.

Y la hija de Faraón descendió á lavarse al río, y paseándose sus doncellas por la ribera del río, vió ella la arquilla en el carrizal, y envió una criada suya á que la tomase.

And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

Pharaoh’s daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her servant to get it.

L’aprì, e vide il bimbo; ed ecco, il piccino piangeva; ed ella n’ebbe compassione, e disse: “Questo è uno de’ figliuoli degli Ebrei”.

Y como la abrió, vió al niño; y he aquí que el niño lloraba. Y teniendo compasión de él, dijo: De los niños de los Hebreos es éste.

And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.

Allora la sorella del bambino disse alla figliuola di Faraone: “Devo andare a chiamarti una balia tra le donne ebree che t’allatti questo bimbo?”

Entonces su hermana dijo á la hija de Faraón: ¿Iré á llamarte un ama de las Hebreas, para que te críe este niño?

Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Should I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?”

La figliuola di Faraone le rispose: “Va’”. E la fanciulla andò a chiamare la madre del bambino.

Y la hija de Faraón respondió: Ve. Entonces fué la doncella, y llamó á la madre del niño;

And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.

E la figliuola di Faraone le disse: “Porta via questo bambino, allattamelo, e io ti darò il tuo salario”. E quella donna prese il bambino e l’allattò.

A la cual dijo la hija de Faraón: Lleva este niño, y críamelo, y yo te lo pagaré. Y la mujer tomó al niño, y criólo.

And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.

Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” The woman took the child, and nursed him.

E quando il bambino fu cresciuto, ella lo menò dalla figliuola di Faraone: esso fu per lei come un figliuolo, ed ella gli pose nome Mosè; “Perché, disse, io l’ho tratto dall’acqua”.

Y como creció el niño, ella lo trajo á la hija de Faraón, la cual lo prohijó, y púsole por nombre Moisés, diciendo: Porque de las aguas lo saqué.

And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

Or in que’ giorni, quando Mosè era già diventato grande, avvenne ch’egli uscì a trovare i suoi fratelli, e notò i lavori di cui erano gravati; e vide un Egiziano, che percoteva uno degli Ebrei suoi fratelli.

Y en aquellos días acaeció que, crecido ya Moisés, salió á sus hermanos, y vió sus cargas: y observó á un Egipcio que hería á uno de los Hebreos, sus hermanos.

And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

Egli volse lo sguardo di qua e di là; e, visto che non c’era nessuno, uccise l’Egiziano, e lo nascose nella sabbia.

And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

Il giorno seguente uscì, ed ecco due Ebrei che si litigavano; ed egli disse a quello che avea torto: “Perché percuoti il tuo compagno?”

Y salió al día siguiente, y viendo á dos Hebreos que reñían, dijo al que hacía la injuria: ¿Por qué hieres á tu prójimo?

And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?

He went out the second day, and behold, two men of the Hebrews were fighting with each other. He said to him who did the wrong, “Why do you strike your fellow?”

E quegli rispose: “Chi t’ha costituito principe e giudice sopra di noi? Vuoi tu uccider me come uccidesti l’Egiziano?” Allora Mosè ebbe paura, e disse: “Certo, la cosa è nota”.

Y él respondió: ¿Quién te ha puesto á ti por príncipe y juez sobre nosotros? ¿piensas matarme como mataste al Egipcio? Entonces Moisés tuvo miedo, y dijo: Ciertamente esta cosa es descubierta.

And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses was afraid, and said, “Surely this thing is known.”

E quando Faraone udì il fatto, cercò di uccidere Mosè; ma Mosè fuggì dal cospetto di Faraone, e si fermò nel paese di Madian; e si mise a sedere presso ad un pozzo.

Y oyendo Faraón este negocio, procuró matar á Moisés: mas Moisés huyó de delante de Faraón, y habitó en la tierra de Madián; y sentóse junto á un pozo.

Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.

Or il sacerdote di Madian aveva sette figliuole; ed esse vennero ad attinger acqua, e a riempire gli abbeveratoi per abbeverare il gregge del padre loro.

Tenía el sacerdote de Madián siete hijas, las cuales vinieron á sacar agua, para llenar las pilas y dar de beber á las ovejas de su padre.

And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?

Ed esse risposero: “Un Egiziano ci ha liberate dalle mani de’ pastori, e di più ci ha attinto l’acqua, ed ha abbeverato il gregge”.

Y ellas respondieron: Un varón Egipcio nos defendió de mano de los pastores, y también nos sacó el agua, y abrevó las ovejas.

And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.

Ed egli disse alle sue figliuole: “E dov’è? Perché avete lasciato là quell’uomo? Chiamatelo, che prenda qualche cibo”.

Y dijo á sus hijas: ¿Y dónde está? ¿por qué habéis dejado ese hombre? llamadle para que coma pan.

And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.

He said to his daughters, “Where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.”

E Mosè acconsentì a stare da quell’uomo; ed egli diede a Mosè Sefora, sua figliuola.

Y Moisés acordó en morar con aquel varón; y él dió á Moisés á su hija Séphora:

And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.

Ed ella partorì un figliuolo ch’egli chiamò Ghershom; “perché, disse, io soggiorno in terra straniera”.

La cual le parió un hijo, y él le puso por nombre Gersom: porque dijo: Peregrino soy en tierra ajena.

And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.

Or nel corso di quel tempo, che fu lungo, avvenne che il re d’Egitto morì; e i figliuoli d’Israele sospiravano a motivo della schiavitù, e alzavan delle grida; e le grida che il servaggio strappava loro salirono a Dio.

Y aconteció que después de muchos días murió el rey de Egipto, y los hijos de Israel suspiraron á causa de la servidumbre, y clamaron: y subió á Dios el clamor de ellos con motivo de su servidumbre.

And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.

E Dio udì i loro gemiti; e Dio si ricordò dei suo patto con Abrahamo, con Isacco e con Giacobbe.

Y oyó Dios el gemido de ellos, y acordóse de su pacto con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob.

And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
