Nun ging ein Mann aus dem Stamme Levi hin und heiratete eine Levitin.

UN varón de la familia de Leví fué, y tomó por mujer una hija de Leví:

And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

Diese Frau wurde Mutter eines Sohnes; und als sie sah, daß es ein schönes Kind war, verbarg sie ihn drei Monate lang.

La cual concibió, y parió un hijo: y viéndolo que era hermoso, túvole escondido tres meses.

And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

Als sie ihn dann nicht länger verborgen halten konnte, nahm sie für ihn ein Kästchen von Papyrusrohr, machte es mit Erdharz und Pech dicht, legte das Knäblein hinein und setzte es in das Schilf am Ufer des Nils.

Pero no pudiendo ocultarle más tiempo, tomó una arquilla de juncos, y calafateóla con pez y betún, y colocó en ella al niño, y púsolo en un carrizal á la orilla del río:

And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.

Seine Schwester aber mußte sich in einiger Entfernung hinstellen, um zu sehen, was mit ihm geschehen würde.

Da kam die Tochter des Pharaos an den Nil hinab, um zu baden, während ihre Dienerinnen am Ufer des Stromes hin und her gingen. Da erblickte sie das Kästchen mitten im Schilf und ließ es durch ihre Leibmagd holen.

Y la hija de Faraón descendió á lavarse al río, y paseándose sus doncellas por la ribera del río, vió ella la arquilla en el carrizal, y envió una criada suya á que la tomase.

And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

Als sie es dann öffnete, siehe, da lag ein weinendes Knäblein darin! Da fühlte sie Mitleid mit ihm und sagte: »Das ist eins von den Kindern der Hebräer.«

Da fragte seine Schwester die Tochter des Pharaos: »Soll ich hingehen und dir eine Amme von den Hebräerinnen holen, damit sie dir den Knaben nährt?«

Entonces su hermana dijo á la hija de Faraón: ¿Iré á llamarte un ama de las Hebreas, para que te críe este niño?

Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Should I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?”

Die Tochter des Pharaos antwortete ihr: »Ja, gehe hin!« Da ging das Mädchen hin und holte die Mutter des Kindes.

Y la hija de Faraón respondió: Ve. Entonces fué la doncella, y llamó á la madre del niño;

And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.

Die Tochter des Pharaos sagte zu dieser: »Nimm dieses Knäblein mit und nähre es mir! Ich will dir den Lohn dafür geben.« So nahm denn die Frau das Knäblein und nährte es.

A la cual dijo la hija de Faraón: Lleva este niño, y críamelo, y yo te lo pagaré. Y la mujer tomó al niño, y criólo.

And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.

Als der Knabe dann größer geworden war, brachte sie ihn der Tochter des Pharaos; die nahm ihn als Sohn an und gab ihm den Namen Mose; »denn«, sagte sie, »ich habe ihn aus dem Wasser gezogen«.

Y como creció el niño, ella lo trajo á la hija de Faraón, la cual lo prohijó, y púsole por nombre Moisés, diciendo: Porque de las aguas lo saqué.

And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

Zu jener Zeit nun, als Mose zum Mann geworden war, ging er (einmal) zu seinen Volksgenossen hinaus und sah ihren Fronarbeiten zu. Da sah er, wie ein Ägypter einen Hebräer, einen von seinen Volksgenossen, schlug.

Y en aquellos días acaeció que, crecido ya Moisés, salió á sus hermanos, y vió sus cargas: y observó á un Egipcio que hería á uno de los Hebreos, sus hermanos.

And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

Da blickte er sich nach allen Seiten um, und als er sah, daß kein Mensch sonst zugegen war, erschlug er den Ägypter und verscharrte ihn im Sand.

Am folgenden Tage ging er wieder hinaus und sah, wie zwei Hebräer sich miteinander zankten. Da sagte er zu dem, der im Unrecht war: »Warum schlägst du deinen Volksgenossen?«

And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?

Der gab zur Antwort: »Wer hat dich zum Obmann und Richter über uns bestellt? Willst du mich etwa auch totschlagen, wie du den Ägypter totgeschlagen hast?« Da erschrak Mose, denn er sagte sich: »So ist also die Sache doch ruchbar geworden!«

Y él respondió: ¿Quién te ha puesto á ti por príncipe y juez sobre nosotros? ¿piensas matarme como mataste al Egipcio? Entonces Moisés tuvo miedo, y dijo: Ciertamente esta cosa es descubierta.

And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses was afraid, and said, “Surely this thing is known.”

Als nun auch der Pharao von dem Vorfall erfuhr und Mose töten lassen wollte, floh Mose vor dem Pharao und nahm seinen Wohnsitz im Lande Midian. Er hatte sich nämlich (nach seiner Ankunft dort) am Brunnen niedergesetzt.

Y oyendo Faraón este negocio, procuró matar á Moisés: mas Moisés huyó de delante de Faraón, y habitó en la tierra de Madián; y sentóse junto á un pozo.

Nun hatte der Priester der Midianiter sieben Töchter; die kamen und wollten Wasser schöpfen und die Tränkrinnen füllen, um das Kleinvieh ihres Vaters zu tränken.

Tenía el sacerdote de Madián siete hijas, las cuales vinieron á sacar agua, para llenar las pilas y dar de beber á las ovejas de su padre.

Aber die Hirten kamen dazu und wollten sie wegdrängen. Da erhob sich Mose, leistete ihnen Beistand und tränkte ihre Herde.

And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?

Sie antworteten: »Ein ägyptischer Mann hat uns gegen die Hirten in Schutz genommen, ja, er hat sogar das Schöpfen für uns besorgt und die Herde getränkt.«

Y ellas respondieron: Un varón Egipcio nos defendió de mano de los pastores, y también nos sacó el agua, y abrevó las ovejas.

And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.

Da sagte er zu seinen Töchtern: »Und wo ist er? Warum habt ihr denn den Mann dort draußen gelassen? Ladet ihn doch zum Essen ein!«

Y dijo á sus hijas: ¿Y dónde está? ¿por qué habéis dejado ese hombre? llamadle para que coma pan.

And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.

He said to his daughters, “Where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.”

Mose entschloß sich dann, bei dem Manne zu bleiben, und dieser gab ihm seine Tochter Zippora zur Frau.

Es begab sich dann während jener langen Zeit, daß der König von Ägypten starb. Die Israeliten aber seufzten unter dem Frondienst und schrien auf, und ihr Hilferuf wegen des Frondienstes stieg zu Gott empor.

Y aconteció que después de muchos días murió el rey de Egipto, y los hijos de Israel suspiraron á causa de la servidumbre, y clamaron: y subió á Dios el clamor de ellos con motivo de su servidumbre.

And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.

Als Gott nun ihr Wehklagen hörte, gedachte er seines Bundes mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob;
