1"Agora estes são os Decretos que deverás dizer ao povo:
2'Se comprares um escravo hebreu, ele trabalhará por seis anos e, no sétimo ano, será liberto sem nenhum pagamento por isso.
3Se ele veio por si mesmo, assim deverá ser liberto; se for casado, então sua esposa será liberta com ele.
4Se seu senhor der a ele uma esposa e ela gerar filhos ou filhas, então a esposa e as crianças pertencerão ao senhor, e ele deverá ir livre sozinho.
5Mas, se o escravo disser claramente: "Eu amo minha família e meu senhor; eu não irei livre",
6então, seu senhor deverá levá-lo perante Deus, e o colocará na porta ou portal, furará sua orelha com uma agulha espessa. Assim, o servo será seu escravo pelo resto de sua vida.
7Se um homem vender sua filha como escrava, ela não será liberta como os servos.
8Se ela não agradar a seu senhor, o qual a designou para si, o senhor deve permiti-la ser comprada de volta. Ele não tem o direito de vendê-la a um estrangeiro. Ele não tem esse direito, já que a tratou de forma desonrosa.
9Se o senhor designá-la como esposa para seu filho, ele deverá tratá-la como se ela fosse sua filha.
10Se o filho a rejeitar como esposa e tomar outra esposa para si, ele não deve diminuir sua comida, vestimenta ou seus direitos conjugais.
11Mas, se o esposo não cumprir quanto a essas três coisas para ela, então ela poderá ser livre sem pagar nenhuma quantia.
12Qualquer um que ferir um homem de tal forma que ele morra, deverá ser condenado à morte.
13Se o homem não o fizer com intenção, mas acidentalmente, então irei designar um lugar para onde ele poderá fugir.
14Se um homem atacar intencionalmente seu vizinho e o matar, então tu terás que tirá-lo, ainda que esteja no altar de Deus, para que ele morra.
15Qualquer um que ferir seu pai ou sua mãe, certamente será condenado à morte.
16Qualquer um que sequestrar uma pessoa e vendê-la, ou for encontrada em seu poder, deverá ser condenado à morte.
17Qualquer um que amaldiçoar seu pai ou mãe deverá ser condenado à morte.
18Se homens brigarem, e um ferir o outro com uma pedra ou com socos, sem matá-lo, mas deixá-lo de cama;
19e este voltar a andar apoiado em seu bordão, o homem que feriu deverá pagar pelo tempo perdido, assim como pela sua completa recuperação, mas o homem não será culpado de assassinato.
20Se um homem ferir seu servo ou sua serva com seu cajado e o servo chegar a morrer pelo golpe, aquele homem deverá ser punido.
21Entretanto, se o servo sobreviver por um ou dois dias, o senhor não será punido, porque já sofreu a perda de seu escravo.
22Se homens lutarem e acabarem por machucar uma mulher grávida e esta chegar a perder seu bebê, não havendo outro dano a ela, certamente o culpado deverá indenizá-la se seu marido exigir, e pagará conforme o juiz determinar.
23Mas, se houver dano sério, deverás pagar a vida com outra vida,
24olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé,
25queimadura por queimadura, ferimento por ferimento, hematoma por hematoma.
26Se um homem ferir o olho de seu escravo ou escrava e destruí-lo, o senhor o deixará ir livre por seu olho destruído.
27Se arrancar um dente, também o libertará em compensação por seu dente.
28Se um boi fere com seu chifre um homem ou uma mulher causando-lhes a morte, o boi deverá ser apedrejado até a morte, e sua carne não deverá ser comida; mas seu dono será absolvido de culpa.
29Mas, se o boi já tinha o hábito de ferir no passado, e seu dono tinha conhecimento e não tomou nenhuma providência, e o boi matar um homem ou uma mulher, o boi deverá ser apedrejado e seu dono morto.
30Se for pedido resgate por sua vida, ele deverá pagar com o que lhe for pedido.
31Se um boi ferir com chifre o filho ou a filha de um homem, o dono do boi deverá fazer o que este decreto exige que ele faça.
32Se um boi ferir um escravo ou uma escrava, o dono do boi certamente pagará trinta siclos de prata ao seu senhor, e seu boi deverá ser apedrejado.
33Se alguém cavar uma cisterna, ou abrir e não tampá-la, e um boi ou jumento cair nela,
34o dono da cisterna certamente indenizará ao dono do animal pelo dano, e o animal morto passará a ser seu.
35Se um boi de um homem ferir o boi de outro homem de modo que ele morra, então venderá o boi vivo e dividirá o valor entre os donos, e eles também deverão dividir a carne do boi morto.
36Mas, se era sabido que o boi já tinha o hábito de ferir no passado, e seu dono não tomou providências, ele deverá pagar animal por animal, e o boi morto se tornará dele.

1Y ESTOS son los derechos que les propondrás.
2Si comprares siervo hebreo, seis años servirá; mas el séptimo saldrá horro de balde.
3Si entró solo, solo saldrá: si tenía mujer, saldrá él y su mujer con él.
4Si su amo le hubiere dado mujer, y ella le hubiere parido hijos ó hijas, la mujer y sus hijos serán de su amo, y él saldrá solo.
5Y si el siervo dijere: Yo amo á mi señor, á mi mujer y á mis hijos, no saldré libre:
6Entonces su amo lo hará llegar á los jueces, y harále llegar á la puerta ó al poste; y su amo le horadará la oreja con lesna, y será su siervo para siempre.
7Y cuando alguno vendiere su hija por sierva, no saldrá como suelen salir los siervos.
8Si no agradare á su señor, por lo cual no la tomó por esposa, permitirle ha que se rescate, y no la podrá vender á pueblo extraño cuando la desechare.
9Mas si la hubiere desposado con su hijo, hará con ella según la costumbre de las hijas.
10Si le tomare otra, no disminuirá su alimento, ni su vestido, ni el débito conyugal.
11Y si ninguna de estas tres cosas hiciere, ella saldrá de gracia sin dinero.
12El que hiriere á alguno, haciéndole así morir, él morirá.
13Mas el que no armó asechanzas, sino que Dios lo puso en sus manos, entonces yo te señalaré lugar al cual ha de huir.
14Además, si alguno se ensoberbeciere contra su prójimo, y lo matare con alevosía, de mi altar lo quitarás para que muera.
15Y el que hiriere á su padre ó á su madre, morirá.
16Asimismo el que robare una persona, y la vendiere, ó se hallare en sus manos, morirá.
17Igualmente el que maldijere á su padre ó á su madre, morirá.
18Además, si algunos riñeren, y alguno hiriere á su prójimo con piedra ó con el puño, y no muriere, pero cayere en cama;
19Si se levantare y anduviere fuera sobre su báculo, entonces será el que le hirió absuelto: solamente le satisfará lo que estuvo parado, y hará que le curen.
20Y si alguno hiriere á su siervo ó á su sierva con palo, y muriere bajo de su mano, será castigado:
21Mas si durare por un día ó dos, no será castigado, porque su dinero es.
22Si algunos riñeren, é hiriesen á mujer preñada, y ésta abortare, pero sin haber muerte, será penado conforme á lo que le impusiere el marido de la mujer y juzgaren los árbitros.
23Mas si hubiere muerte, entonces pagarás vida por vida,
24Ojo por ojo, diente por diente, mano por mano, pie por pie,
25Quemadura por quemadura, herida por herida, golpe por golpe.
26Y cuando alguno hiriere el ojo de su siervo, ó el ojo de su sierva, y lo entortare, darále libertad por razón de su ojo.
27Y si sacare el diente de su siervo, ó el diente de su sierva, por su diente le dejará ir libre.
28Si un buey acorneare hombre ó mujer, y de resultas muriere, el buey será apedreado, y no se comerá su carne; mas el dueño del buey será absuelto.
29Pero si el buey era acorneador desde ayer y antes de ayer, y á su dueño le fué hecho requerimiento, y no lo hubiere guardado, y matare hombre ó mujer, el buey será apedreado, y también morirá su dueño.
30Si le fuere impuesto rescate, entonces dará por el rescate de su persona cuanto le fuere impuesto.
31Haya acorneado hijo, ó haya acorneado hija, conforme á este juicio se hará con él.
32Si el buey acorneare siervo ó sierva, pagará treinta siclos de plata su señor, y el buey será apedreado.
33Y si alguno abriere hoyo, ó cavare cisterna, y no la cubriere, y cayere allí buey ó asno,
34El dueño de la cisterna pagará el dinero, resarciendo á su dueño, y lo que fué muerto será suyo.
35Y si el buey de alguno hiriere al buey de su prójimo, y éste muriere, entonces venderán el buey vivo, y partirán el dinero de él, y también partirán el muerto.
36Mas si era notorio que el buey era acorneador de ayer y antes de ayer, y su dueño no lo hubiere guardado, pagará buey por buey, y el muerto será suyo.

1Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.
2If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
3If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.
5And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
6Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.
7And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.
8If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.
9And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.
10If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.
11And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.
12He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
13And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
14But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
15And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.
16And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
17And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.
18And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:
19If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.
20And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
21Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.
22If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
23And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
24Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
26And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.
27And if he smite out his manservant’s tooth, or his maidservant’s tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth’s sake.
28If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.
29But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.
30If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.
31Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.
32If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
33And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;
34The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his.
35And if one man’s ox hurt another’s, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide.
36Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.

1“Now these are the ordinances which you shall set before them:
2“If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free without paying anything.
3If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself. If he is married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.
5But if the servant shall plainly say, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children. I will not go out free;’
6then his master shall bring him to God, and shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him forever.
7“If a man sells his daughter to be a female servant, she shall not go out as the male servants do.
8If she doesn’t please her master, who has married her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her.
9If he marries her to his son, he shall deal with her as a daughter.
10If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marital rights.
11If he doesn’t do these three things for her, she may go free without paying any money.
12“One who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death,
13but not if it is unintentional, but God allows it to happen; then I will appoint you a place where he shall flee.
14If a man schemes and comes presumptuously on his neighbor to kill him, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die.
15“Anyone who attacks his father or his mother shall be surely put to death.
16“Anyone who kidnaps someone and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
17“Anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.
18“If men quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone, or with his fist, and he doesn’t die, but is confined to bed;
19if he rises again and walks around with his staff, then he who struck him shall be cleared; only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall provide for his healing until he is thoroughly healed.
20“If a man strikes his servant or his maid with a rod, and he dies under his hand, the man shall surely be punished.
21Notwithstanding, if his servant gets up after a day or two, he shall not be punished, for the servant is his property.
22“If men fight and hurt a pregnant woman so that she gives birth prematurely, and yet no harm follows, he shall be surely fined as much as the woman’s husband demands and the judges allow.
23But if any harm follows, then you must take life for life,
24eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25burning for burning, wound for wound, and bruise for bruise.
26“If a man strikes his servant’s eye, or his maid’s eye, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.
27If he strikes out his male servant’s tooth, or his female servant’s tooth, he shall let the servant go free for his tooth’s sake.
28“If a bull gores a man or a woman to death, the bull shall surely be stoned, and its meat shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall not be held responsible.
29But if the bull had a habit of goring in the past, and this has been testified to its owner, and he has not kept it in, but it has killed a man or a woman, the bull shall be stoned, and its owner shall also be put to death.
30If a ransom is imposed on him, then he shall give for the redemption of his life whatever is imposed.
31Whether it has gored a son or has gored a daughter, according to this judgment it shall be done to him.
32If the bull gores a male servant or a female servant, thirty shekels of silver shall be given to their master, and the ox shall be stoned.
33“If a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and doesn’t cover it, and a bull or a donkey falls into it,
34the owner of the pit shall make it good. He shall give money to its owner, and the dead animal shall be his.
35“If one man’s bull injures another’s, so that it dies, then they shall sell the live bull, and divide its price; and they shall also divide the dead animal.
36Or if it is known that the bull was in the habit of goring in the past, and its owner has not kept it in, he shall surely pay bull for bull, and the dead animal shall be his own.
