1Im dritten Monat nach dem Auszug der Israeliten aus Ägypten, an eben dem Tage kamen sie in die Wüste Sinai.
2Und sie brachen auf von Raphidim und gelangten in die Wüste Sinai; da lagerten sie sich in der Wüste. Und die Israeliten lagerten sich daselbst dem Berge gegenüber.
3Als nun Mose zu Gott hinaufgestiegen war, rief ihm Jahwe vom Berge herab zu und sprach: So sollst du sprechen zum Hause Jakobs und ankündigen den Söhnen Israels:
4Ihr habt gesehen, was ich an den Ägyptern verrichtet, wie ich euch auf Adlersflügeln getragen und euch hierher zu mir gebracht habe.
5Wenn ihr nun auf mich hören und die von mir festgesetzten Ordnungen beobachten wollt, so sollt ihr unter allen Völkern mein besonderes Eigentum sein; denn mir gehört die ganze Erde.
6Und ihr sollt mir werden ein Königreich von Priestern und ein heiliges Volk! - das sind die Worte, die du den Israeliten ausrichten sollst.
7Da ging Mose hin, die Vornehmsten des Volkes zusammen zu rufen, und richtete ihnen alle jene Worte aus, die ihm Jahwe aufgetragen hatte.
8Das ganze Volk aber sprach einstimmig: Alles, was Jahwe befiehlt, wollen wir thun! Da überbrachte Mose die Rede des Volks an Jahwe.
9Hierauf sprach Jahwe zu Mose: Ich werde alsbald zu dir kommen in dichtem Gewölk, damit das Volk es höre, wenn ich mit dir rede, sowie auf ewige Zeiten an dich glaube. Mose aber berichtete Jahwe die Rede des Volks.
10Da sprach Jahwe zu Mose: Geh zu dem Volk und befiehl, daß sie heute und morgen sich rein halten und ihre Kleider waschen.
11Und übermorgen sollen sie bereit sein; denn übermorgen wird Jahwe vor den Augen des ganzen Volks auf den Berg Sinai hinabfahren.
12Dem Volk aber sollst du ringsum eine Grenze ziehen, indem du gebietest: Hütet euch davor, den Berg hinanzusteigen oder seinem Fuße zu nahe zu kommen; wer irgend dem Berge zu nahe kommt, der soll getötet werden!
13Keines Hand darf ihn berühren; denn ein solcher soll gesteinigt oder erschossen werden, sowohl Mensch als Vieh, und das Leben lassen müssen. Wenn das Widderhorn geblasen wird, sollen sie den Berg hinansteigen.
14Da stieg Mose vom Berge zum Volke hinab und befahl dem Volke, sich rein zu halten und die Kleider zu waschen.
15Und er sprach zu dem Volke: Seid übermorgen bereit; keiner darf sich einem Weibe nahen!
16Am dritten Tag aber, als es Morgen wurde, brachen Donner und Blitze los, indem eine schwere Wolke über dem Berge gelagert war, und es erscholl starkes Geschmetter von Trompeten: Da kam ein Schrecken über alles Volk, das im Lager war.
17Mose aber führte das Volk aus dem Lager heraus, Gott entgegen, und sie stellten sich am Fuße des Berges auf.
18Der Berg Sinai jedoch war ganz in Rauch eingehüllt, weil Jahwe im Feuer auf ihn herabgefahren war, und Rauch stieg von ihm auf wie von einem Schmelzofen, und alles Volk erbebte heftig.
19Und das Schmettern der Trompeten wurde immer stärker: Mose redete und Gott antwortete ihm laut.
20Da fuhr Jahwe auf den Berg Sinai, auf den Gipfel des Berges, hinab. Und Jahwe berief Mose auf den Gipfel des Berges; da stieg Mose hinauf.
21Da sprach Jahwe zu Mose: Steige hinab und schärfe dem Volke ein, daß sie sich ja nicht unterfangen sollen, zu Jahwe vorzudringen, um ihn zu sehen; sonst würde eine große Zahl von ihnen umkommen.
22Auch die Priester, die Jahwe nahe treten, sollen sich der Reinigung unterziehen, daß nicht etwa Jahwe gegen sie losbreche.
23Mose aber entgegnete Jahwe: Das Volk kann unmöglich auf den Berg Sinai hinaufsteigen; denn du selbst hast uns ja eingeschärft: Grenze den Berg ein und erkläre ihn für unnahbar!
24Da sprach Jahwe zu ihm: Steige nur hinab und komme dann in Begleitung Aarons wieder herauf; die Priester aber und das Volk sollen sich nicht vorwagen, um zu Jahwe emporzusteigen, daß er nicht gegen sie losbreche.
25Da stieg Mose zum Volke hinab und sagte es ihnen.

1AL mes tercero de la salida de los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto, en aquel día vinieron al desierto de Sinaí.
2Porque partieron de Rephidim, y llegaron al desierto de Sinaí, y asentaron en el desierto; y acampó allí Israel delante del monte.
3Y Moisés subió á Dios; y Jehová lo llamó desde el monte, diciendo: Así dirás á la casa de Jacob, y denunciarás á los hijos de Israel:
4Vosotros visteis lo que hice á los Egipcios, y cómo os tomé sobre alas de águilas, y os he traído á mí.
5Ahora pues, si diereis oído á mi voz, y guardareis mi pacto, vosotros seréis mi especial tesoro sobre todos los pueblos; porque mía es toda la tierra.
6Y vosotros seréis mi reino de sacerdotes, y gente santa. Estas son las palabras que dirás á los hijos de Israel.
7Entonces vino Moisés, y llamó á los ancianos del pueblo, y propuso en presencia de ellos todas estas palabras que Jehová le había mandado.
8Y todo el pueblo respondió á una, y dijeron: Todo lo que Jehová ha dicho haremos. Y Moisés refirió las palabras del pueblo á Jehová.
9Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: He aquí, yo vengo á ti en una nube espesa, para que el pueblo oiga mientras yo hablo contigo, y también para que te crean para siempre. Y Moisés denunció las palabras del pueblo á Jehová.
10Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Ve al pueblo, y santifícalos hoy y mañana, y laven sus vestidos;
11Y estén apercibidos para el día tercero, porque al tercer día Jehová descenderá, á ojos de todo el pueblo, sobre el monte de Sinaí.
12Y señalarás término al pueblo en derredor, diciendo: Guardaos, no subáis al monte, ni toquéis á su término: cualquiera que tocare el monte, de seguro morirá:
13No le tocará mano, mas será apedreado ó asaeteado; sea animal ó sea hombre, no vivirá. En habiendo sonado largamente la bocina, subirán al monte.
14Y descendió Moisés del monte al pueblo, y santificó al pueblo; y lavaron sus vestidos.
15Y dijo al pueblo: Estad apercibidos para el tercer día; no lleguéis á mujer.
16Y aconteció al tercer día cuando vino la mañana, que vinieron truenos y relámpagos, y espesa nube sobre el monte, y sonido de bocina muy fuerte; y estremecióse todo el pueblo que estaba en el real.
17Y Moisés sacó del real al pueblo á recibir á Dios; y pusiéronse á lo bajo del monte.
18Y todo el monte de Sinaí humeaba, porque Jehová había descendido sobre él en fuego: y el humo de él subía como el humo de un horno, y todo el monte se estremeció en gran manera.
19Y el sonido de la bocina iba esforzándose en extremo: Moisés hablaba, y Dios le respondía en voz.
20Y descendió Jehová sobre el monte de Sinaí, sobre la cumbre del monte: y llamó Jehová á Moisés á la cumbre del monte, y Moisés subió.
21Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Desciende, requiere al pueblo que no traspasen el término por ver á Jehová, porque caerá multitud de ellos.
22Y también los sacerdotes que se llegan á Jehová, se santifiquen, porque Jehová no haga en ellos estrago.
23Y Moisés dijo á Jehová: El pueblo no podrá subir al monte de Sinaí, porque tú nos has requerido diciendo: Señala términos al monte, y santifícalo.
24Y Jehová le dijo: Ve, desciende, y subirás tú, y Aarón contigo: mas los sacerdotes y el pueblo no traspasen el término por subir á Jehová, porque no haga en ellos estrago.
25Entonces Moisés descendió al pueblo, y habló con ellos.

1In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.
2For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.
3And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
4Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.
5Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
7And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.
8And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.
9And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.
10And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,
11And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.
12And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:
13There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
14And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
15And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.
16And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.
17And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.
18And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
19And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.
20And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.
21And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.
22And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.
23And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.
24And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.
25So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.

1In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.
2When they had departed from Rephidim, and had come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain.
3Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
4‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself.
5Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;
6and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”
7Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which the LORD commanded him.
8All the people answered together, and said, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to the LORD.
9The LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to the LORD.
10The LORD said to Moses, “Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,
11and be ready for the third day; for on the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.
12You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying, ‘Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death.
13No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.”
14Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
15He said to the people, “Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.”
16On the third day, when it was morning, there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled.
17Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.
18All of Mount Sinai smoked, because the LORD descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
19When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.
20The LORD came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. The LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
21The LORD said to Moses, “Go down, warn the people, lest they break through to the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.
22Let the priests also, who come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break out on them.”
23Moses said to the LORD, “The people can’t come up to Mount Sinai, for you warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds around the mountain, and sanctify it.’”
24The LORD said to him, “Go down! You shall bring Aaron up with you, but don’t let the priests and the people break through to come up to the LORD, lest he break out against them.”
25So Moses went down to the people, and told them.
