1Am dritten Tage nun legte Esther königliche Gewandung an und trat in den inneren Vorhof des königlichen Palastes, dem Palast des Königs gegenüber, während der König eben im königlichen Palast, dem Eingang zum Palast gegenüber, auf seinem Königsthrone saß.
2Als nun der König die Königin Esther im Vorhofe stehen sah, fand sie Gnade vor ihm, so daß er ihr das goldene Zepter entgegenstreckte, das er in der Hand hielt. Da trat Esther hinzu und berührte die Spitze des Zepters.
3Darauf sagte der König zu ihr: »Was ist mit dir, Königin Esther, und was ist dein Begehr? Wäre es auch die Hälfte des Königreichs – sie sollte dir gegeben werden!«
4Da antwortete Esther: »Wenn es dem König genehm ist, so wolle der König sich heute mit Haman zu dem Gastmahl einfinden, das ich für ihn bereitet habe!«
5Da befahl der König: »Ruft sofort Haman herbei, damit wir den Wunsch Esthers erfüllen!« Als dann der König sich mit Haman zu dem Mahl eingefunden hatte, das von Esther zugerichtet worden war,
6sagte der König zu Esther beim Weintrinken: »Was ist deine Bitte? Sie soll dir gewährt werden! Und was ist dein Wunsch? Wäre es auch die Hälfte des Königreichs – es soll geschehen!«
7Da antwortete Esther mit den Worten: »Meine Bitte und mein Wunsch ist:
8Wenn ich beim König Gnade gefunden habe und wenn es dem König genehm ist, mir meine Bitte zu gewähren und meinen Wunsch zu erfüllen, so wolle der König mit Haman (auch morgen) zu dem Gastmahl kommen, das ich für sie herrichten will: morgen werde ich dann der Aufforderung des Königs nachkommen.«
9Haman nun begab sich an diesem Tage in fröhlicher Stimmung und guten Mutes auf den Heimweg; als er aber Mardochai im Tor des Königs(palastes) erblickte und dieser sich weder erhob noch ihn überhaupt beachtete, geriet er in volle Wut über Mardochai;
10doch er bezwang sich. Als er aber nach Hause gekommen war, ließ er seine Freunde und seine Gattin Seres holen.
11Diesen erzählte er von seinem großartigen Reichtum und von seinen vielen Söhnen und besonders davon, wie der König ihn ausgezeichnet und ihn über die Fürsten und Beamten des Königs erhoben habe.
12Dann fuhr er fort: »Auch hat die Königin Esther zu dem Gastmahl, das sie ausgerichtet hatte, keinen mit dem König geladen als nur mich; und auch für morgen bin ich mit dem König von ihr eingeladen.
13Aber das alles befriedigt mich nicht, solange ich noch den Juden Mardochai im Tor des Königs(palastes) sitzen sehen muß!«
14Da sagten seine Frau Seres und alle seine Freunde zu ihm: »Man richte doch einen Pfahl von fünfzig Ellen Höhe auf; dann sprich morgen früh mit dem König, daß man Mardochai daran aufhängen möge; danach kannst du vergnügt mit dem König zum Gastmahl gehen.« Dieser Vorschlag gefiel dem Haman so, daß er den Pfahl aufrichten ließ.

1Y ACONTECIÓ que al tercer día se vistió Esther su vestido real, y púsose en el patio de adentro de la casa del rey, enfrente del aposento del rey: y estaba el rey sentado en su solio regio en el aposento real, enfrente de la puerta del aposento.
2Y fué que, como vió á la reina Esther que estaba en el patio, ella obtuvo gracia en sus ojos; y el rey extendió á Esther el cetro de oro que tenía en la mano. Entonces se llegó Esther, y tocó la punta del cetro.
3Y dijo el rey: ¿Qué tienes, reina Esther? ¿y cuál es tu petición? Hasta la mitad del reino, se te dará.
4Y Esther dijo: Si al rey place, venga hoy el rey con Amán al banquete que le he hecho.
5Y respondió el rey: Daos priesa, llamad á Amán, para hacer lo que Esther ha dicho. Vino pues el rey con Amán al banquete que Esther dispuso.
6Y dijo el rey á Esther en el banquete del vino: ¿Cuál es tu petición, y te será otorgada? ¿Cuál es tu demanda? Aunque sea la mitad del reino, te será concedida.
7Entonces respondió Esther, y dijo: Mi petición y mi demanda es:
8Si he hallado gracia en los ojos del rey, y si place al rey otorgar mi petición y hacer mi demanda, que venga el rey con Amán al banquete que les dispondré; y mañana haré conforme á lo que el rey ha mandado.
9Y salió Amán aquel día contento y alegre de corazón; pero como vió á Mardochêo á la puerta del rey, que no se levantaba ni se movía de su lugar, llenóse contra Mardochêo de ira.
10Mas refrenóse Amán, y vino á su casa, y envió, é hizo venir sus amigos, y á Zeres su mujer.
11Y refirióles Amán la gloria de sus riquezas, y la multitud de sus hijos, y todas las cosas con que el rey le había engrandecido y con que le había ensalzado sobre los príncipes y siervos del rey.
12Y añadió Amán: También la reina Esther á ninguno hizo venir con el rey al banquete que ella dispuso, sino á mí: y aun para mañana soy convidado de ella con el rey.
13Mas todo esto nada me sirve cada vez que veo al judío Mardochêo sentado á la puerta del rey.
14Y díjole Zeres su mujer, y todos sus amigos: Hagan una horca alta de cincuenta codos, y mañana di al rey que cuelguen á Mardochêo en ella; y entra con el rey al banquete alegre. Y plugo la cosa en los ojos de Amán, é hizo preparar la horca.

1Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.
2And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
3Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.
4And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.
5Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
6And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.
7Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;
8If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.
9Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.
10Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.
11And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.
12Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.
13Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.
14Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.
World English Bible
1Now on the third day, Esther put on her royal clothing and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, next to the king’s house. The king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, next to the entrance of the house.
2When the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, she obtained favor in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. So Esther came near and touched the top of the scepter.
3Then the king asked her, “What would you like, queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given you even to the half of the kingdom.”
4Esther said, “If it seems good to the king, let the king and Haman come today to the banquet that I have prepared for him.”
5Then the king said, “Bring Haman quickly, so that it may be done as Esther has said.” So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
6The king said to Esther at the banquet of wine, “What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.”
7Then Esther answered and said, “My petition and my request is this.
8If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I will prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king has said.”
9Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he didn’t stand up nor move for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.
10Nevertheless Haman restrained himself, and went home. There, he sent and called for his friends and Zeresh his wife.
11Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, the multitude of his children, all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.
12Haman also said, “Yes, Esther the queen let no man come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow I am also invited by her together with the king.
13Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”
14Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, “Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on it. Then go in merrily with the king to the banquet.” This pleased Haman, so he had the gallows made.
