1DER König Nebukadnezar liess ein goldenes Standbild machen, sechzig Ellen hoch und sechs Ellen breit, und es in der Ebene von Dura in der Provinz Babel aufrichten.
2Dann sandte der König Nebukadnezar Boten aus, um die Satrapen, Vorsteher und Statthalter, die Generäle, Schatzmeister, Rechtsgelehrten und hohen Tempelbeamten, kurz, alle Machthaber in den Provinzen, zu versammeln, damit sie der Einweihung des Bildes beiwohnten, das der König Nebukadnezar hatte aufrichten lassen.
3Also versammelten sich die Satrapen, Vorsteher und Statthalter, die Generäle, Schatzmeister, Rechtsgelehrten und hohen Tempelbeamten, kurz, alle Machthaber in den Provinzen, um das Bild, das der König Nebukadnezar hatte errichten lassen, einzuweihen, und stellten sich dem Bilde gegenüber auf.
4Dann rief der Herold mit mächtiger Stimme: An euch, ihr Völker aller Nationen und Zungen, ergeht der Befehl:
5Wenn ihr den Klang der Hörner, Pfeifen, Zithern, Harfen, Hackbretter, Doppelflöten und aller Arten von Musik hört, so sollt ihr niederfallen und das goldene Bild anbeten, das der König Nebukadnezar hat errichten lassen.
6Und wer nicht niederfällt und anbetet, wird sofort in den brennenden Feuerofen geworfen.
7Deswegen fielen alsbald, wenn sie den Klang der Hörner, Pfeifen, Zithern, Harfen, Hackbretter und aller Arten von Musik hörten, die Völker aller Nationen und Zungen nieder und beteten das goldene Bild an, das der König Nebukadnezar hatte errichten lassen.
8Zu derselben Zeit traten etliche Chaldäer auf und verklagten die Juden.
9Sie hoben an und sprachen zu König Nebukadnezar: O König, mögest du ewiglich leben!
10Du, o König, hast den Befehl erlassen: "Ein jeder, der den Klang der Hörner, Pfeifen, Zithern, Harfen, Hackbretter, Doppelflöten und aller Arten von Musik hört, soll niederfallen und das goldene Bild anbeten;
11und wer nicht niederfällt und anbetet, wird in den brennenden Feuerofen geworfen."
12Nun sind da etliche Juden, die du mit der Verwaltung der Provinz Babel betraut hast: Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego. Diese Männer kümmern sich nicht um dich, o König; sie dienen deinen Göttern nicht und beten das goldene Bild nicht an, das du hast aufrichten lassen.
13Da befahl Nebukadnezar in grimmigem Zorn, Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego vorzuführen, und die Männer wurden dem König vorgeführt.
14Nebukadnezar aber hob an und sprach zu ihnen: Ist es wahr, Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego, dass ihr meinen Göttern nicht dient und das goldene Bild, das ich errichtet habe, nicht anbetet?
15Nun wohl, wenn ihr bereit seid, sobald ihr den Klang der Hörner, Pfeifen, Zithern, Harfen, Hackbretter, Doppelflöten und aller Arten von Musik hört, niederzufallen und das Bild anzubeten, das ich habe machen lassen, (so ist es gut); wenn ihr es aber nicht anbetet, so werdet ihr sofort in den brennenden Feuerofen geworfen. Wer ist der Gott, der euch aus meiner Hand erretten könnte? (a) Jes 36:20
16Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego antworteten und sprachen zu König Nebukadnezar: O König, wir haben nicht nötig, dir darauf eine Antwort zu geben.
17Wenn das geschieht, so vermag unser Gott, dem wir dienen, uns aus dem brennenden Feuerofen zu erretten; ja, er wird uns aus deiner Hand erretten, o König.
18Tut er es aber nicht, so magst du, o König, wissen, dass wir deinen Göttern doch nicht dienen und das goldene Bild, das du errichtet hast, nicht anbeten werden.
19Da ward Nebukadnezar voll Grimm, und der Ausdruck seines Gesichtes veränderte sich gegenüber Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego. Alsbald gab er den Befehl, den Ofen siebenmal stärker zu heizen, als man ihn in der Regel zu heizen pflegte.
20Auch befahl er etlichen starken Männern in seinem Heer, Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego zu binden, um sie in den brennenden Feuerofen zu werfen.
21Da wurden die Männer in ihren Mänteln, Röcken, Hüten und andern Kleidern gebunden und in den brennenden Feuerofen geworfen.
22Infolge davon nun, dass der Befehl des Königs streng war und man den Ofen über die Massen stark geheizt hatte, wurden die Männer, die Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego hinaufgetragen hatten, von der Feuerflamme getötet.
23Jene drei Männer aber, Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego, fielen gebunden mitten in den brennenden Feuerofen. (a) Jes 43:2
24Da sprang der König Nebukadnezar entsetzt auf, hob an und sprach zu seinen Räten: Haben wir nicht drei Männer gebunden ins Feuer geworfen? Sie antworteten und sprachen zum König: Gewiss, o König!
25Er erwiderte und sprach: Ich sehe aber vier Männer ohne Fesseln und unversehrt im Feuer umhergehen, und der vierte sieht aus wie ein himmlisches Wesen.
26Dann trat Nebukadnezar an die Öffnung des brennenden Feuerofens, hob an und sprach: Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego, ihr Diener des höchsten Gottes, tretet heraus und kommet her! Da kamen Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego aus dem Feuer heraus.
27Und es versammelten sich die Satrapen, Beamten, Statthalter und Räte des Königs, und sie sahen, dass das Feuer keine Macht über den Leib jener Männer gehabt hatte, dass auch das Haar auf ihrem Haupte nicht versengt und ihre Mäntel nicht beschädigt waren und dass auch kein Brandgeruch an ihnen wahrzunehmen war.
28Da hob Nebukadnezar an und sprach: Gepriesen sei der Gott Sadrachs, Mesachs und Abed-Negos, der seinen Engel gesandt und seine Diener gerettet hat, die auf ihn vertraut, den königlichen Befehl übertreten und ihren Leib dahingegeben haben, damit sie keinen Gott verehren und anbeten müssten ausser ihren Gott.
29So erlasse ich nun den Befehl: Wer immer - welches Volkes, welcher Nation oder Zunge er auch sei - gegen den Gott Sadrachs, Mesachs und Abed-Negos irgend etwas sagt, der wird in Stücke zerhauen, und sein Haus wird zu einem Misthaufen gemacht; denn es gibt keinen andern Gott, der so zu erretten vermöchte.
30Und der König setzte hierauf Sadrach, Mesach und Abed-Nego wieder in ihre Würde ein in der Provinz Babel. DER König Nebukadnezar an die Völker aller Nationen und Zungen, die auf der ganzen Erde wohnen: Heil euch in Fülle! Es hat mir gefallen, die Zeichen und Wunder kundzutun, die der höchste Gott an mir getan hat. Wie sind seine Zeichen so gross und seine Wunder so gewaltig! Sein Reich ist ein ewiges Reich, und seine Herrschaft währt von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht. (a) Da 2:44; Ps 145:13

1EL rey Nabucodonosor hizo una estatua de oro, la altura de la cual era de sesenta codos, su anchura de seis codos: levantóla en el campo de Dura, en la provincia de Babilonia.
2Y envió el rey Nabucodonosor á juntar los grandes, los asistentes y capitanes, oidores, receptores, los del consejo, presidentes, y á todos los gobernadores de las provincias, para que viniesen á la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.
3Fueron pues reunidos los grandes, los asistentes y capitanes, los oidores, receptores, los del consejo, los presidentes, y todos los gobernadores de las provincias, á la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado: y estaban en pie delante de la estatua que había levantado el rey Nabucodonosor.
4Y el pregonero pregonaba en alta voz: Mándase á vosotros, oh pueblos, naciones, y lenguas,
5En oyendo el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, os postraréis y adoraréis la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor ha levantado:
6Y cualquiera que no se postrare y adorare, en la misma hora será echado dentro de un horno de fuego ardiendo.
7Por lo cual, en oyendo todos los pueblos el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, se postraron, y adoraron la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.
8Por esto en el mismo tiempo algunos varones Caldeos se llegaron, y denunciaron de los Judíos,
9Hablando y diciendo al rey Nabucodonosor: Rey, para siempre vive.
10Tú, oh rey, pusiste ley que todo hombre en oyendo el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, se postrase y adorase la estatua de oro:
11Y el que no se postrase y adorase, fuese echado dentro de un horno de fuego ardiendo.
12Hay unos varones Judíos, los cuales pusiste tú sobre los negocios de la provincia de Babilonia; Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego: estos varones, oh rey, no han hecho cuenta de ti; no adoran tus dioses, no adoran la estatua de oro que tú levantaste.
13Entonces Nabucodonosor dijo con ira y con enojo que trajesen á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego. Al punto fueron traídos estos varones delante del rey.
14Habló Nabucodonosor, y díjoles: ¿Es verdad Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, que vosotros no honráis á mi dios, ni adoráis la estatua de oro que he levantado?
15Ahora pues, ¿estáis prestos para que en oyendo el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, os postréis, y adoréis la estatua que he hecho? Porque si no la adorareis, en la misma hora seréis echados en medio de un horno de fuego ardiendo: ¿y qué dios será aquel que os libre de mis manos?
16Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego respondieron y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: No cuidamos de responderte sobre este negocio.
17He aquí nuestro Dios á quien honramos, puede librarnos del horno de fuego ardiendo; y de tu mano, oh rey, nos librará.
18Y si no, sepas, oh rey, que tu dios no adoraremos, ni tampoco honraremos la estatua que has levantado.
19Entonces Nabucodonosor fué lleno de ira, y demudóse la figura de su rostro sobre Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego: así habló, y ordenó que el horno se encendiese siete veces tanto de lo que cada vez solía.
20Y mandó á hombres muy vigorosos que tenía en su ejército, que atasen á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, para echarlos en el horno de fuego ardiendo.
21Entonces estos varones fueron atados con sus mantos, y sus calzas, y sus turbantes, y sus vestidos, y fueron echados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.
22Y porque la palabra del rey daba priesa, y había procurado que se encendiese mucho, la llama del fuego mató á aquellos que habían alzado á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego.
23Y estos tres varones, Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, cayeron atados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.
24Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor se espantó, y levantóse apriesa, y habló, y dijo á los de su consejo: ¿No echaron tres varones atados dentro del fuego? Ellos respondieron y dijeron al rey: Es verdad, oh rey.
25Respondió él y dijo: He aquí que yo veo cuatro varones sueltos, que se pasean en medio del fuego, y ningún daño hay en ellos: y el parecer del cuarto es semejante á hijo de los dioses.
26Entonces Nabucodonosor se acercó á la puerta del horno de fuego ardiendo, y habló y dijo: Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, siervos del alto Dios, salid y venid. Entonces Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, salieron de en medio del fuego.
27Y juntáronse los grandes, los gobernadores, los capitanes, y los del consejo del rey, para mirar estos varones, como el fuego no se enseñoreó de sus cuerpos, ni cabello de sus cabezas fué quemado, ni sus ropas se mudaron, ni olor de fuego había pasado por ellos.
28Nabucodonosor habló y dijo: Bendito el Dios de ellos, de Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, que envió su ángel, y libró sus siervos que esperaron en él, y el mandamiento del rey mudaron, y entregaron sus cuerpos antes que sirviesen ni adorasen otro dios que su Dios.
29Por mí pues se pone decreto, que todo pueblo, nación, ó lengua, que dijere blasfemia contra el Dios de Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, sea descuartizado, y su casa sea puesta por muladar; por cuanto no hay dios que pueda librar como éste.
30Entonces el rey engrandeció á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego en la provincia de Babilonia.

1Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
4Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
5That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
7Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
8Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
9They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.
10Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:
11And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
12There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
13Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then they brought these men before the king.
14Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
15Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
19Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
20And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
21Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
22Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.
23And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
27And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
28Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
29Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, in the province of Babylon.

1Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its width six cubits. He set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the local governors, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3Then the local governors, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces were gathered together to the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
4Then the herald cried aloud, “To you it is commanded, peoples, nations, and languages,
5that whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up.
6Whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall be cast into the middle of a burning fiery furnace the same hour.”
7Therefore at that time, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, all the peoples, the nations, and the languages fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
8Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near and brought accusation against the Jews.
9They answered Nebuchadnezzar the king, “O king, live for ever!
10You, O king, have made a decree that every man who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music shall fall down and worship the golden image;
11and whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall be cast into the middle of a burning fiery furnace.
12There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, have not respected you. They don’t serve your gods, and don’t worship the golden image which you have set up.”
13Then Nebuchadnezzar in rage and fury commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. Then these men were brought before the king.
14Nebuchadnezzar answered them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don’t serve my gods and you don’t worship the golden image which I have set up?
15Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, good; but if you don’t worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the middle of a burning fiery furnace. Who is that god who will deliver you out of my hands?”
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.
17If it happens, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
18But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.”
19Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the form of his appearance was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.
20He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
21Then these men were bound in their pants, their tunics, and their mantles, and their other clothes, and were cast into the middle of the burning fiery furnace.
22Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
23These three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the middle of the burning fiery furnace.
24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished and rose up in haste. He spoke and said to his counselors, “Didn’t we cast three men bound into the middle of the fire?” They answered the king, “True, O king.”
25He answered, “Look, I see four men loose, walking in the middle of the fire, and they are unharmed. The appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.”
26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace. He spoke and said, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the middle of the fire.
27The local governors, the deputies, and the governors, and the king’s counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, that the fire had no power on their bodies. The hair of their head wasn’t singed. Their pants weren’t changed. The smell of fire wasn’t even on them.
28Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and delivered his servants who trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and have yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god except their own God.
29Therefore I make a decree that every people, nation, and language which speak anything evil against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill, because there is no other god who is able to deliver like this.”
30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
