1El rey Nabucodonosor hizo una estatua de oro de sesenta codos de alto y seis codos de ancho. La erigió en la llanura de Dura, en la provincia de Babilonia.
2Y mandó el rey Nabucodonosor reunir a los sátrapas, los gobernadores, los generales, los altos magistrados, los tesoreros, los consejeros, los jueces y todos los intendentes de las provincias, para que asistiesen a la dedicación de la estatua levantada por el rey Nabucodonosor.
3Se reunieron los sátrapas, los gobernadores, los generales, los altos magistrados, los tesoreros, los consejeros, los jueces y todos los intendentes de las provincias para asistir a la dedicación de la estatua levantada por el rey Nabucodonosor; y estaban en pie delante de la estatua que Nabucodonosor había erigido.
4Y gritaba un pregonero en voz alta: “A vosotros, oh pueblos, naciones y lenguas se os manda
5que al tiempo que oyereis el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, os postréis para adorar la estatua de oro que ha levantado el rey Nabucodonosor.
6Quien no se postrare ni (la) adorare, al instante será echado en un horno de fuego ardiente.”
7Por lo cual, al momento de oír todos los pueblos el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, se postraron todos esos pueblos, naciones y lenguas, y adoraron la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor había alzado.
8En ese mismo tiempo vinieron algunos caldeos y acusaron a los judíos.
9Hablaron al rey Nabucodonosor y dijeron: “¡Vive para siempre, oh rey!
10Tú, oh rey, has dado un decreto según el cual todo hombre que oiga el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, se postre y adore la estatua de oro;
11y que todo aquel que no se postrare para adorar, sea arrojado en un horno de fuego ardiente.
12Pues bien, hay algunos judíos, a quienes tú has puesto al frente de la provincia de Babilonia: Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, los cuales no te tienen respeto, oh rey; no sirven a tus dioses, ni adoran la estatua de oro por ti erigida.”
13Entonces Nabucodonosor se llenó de rabia y furor, y mandó traer a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, los cuales fueron conducidos a la presencia del rey.
14Nabucodonosor tomó la palabra y les dijo: “¿Es de propósito, oh Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago que no servís a mis dioses, ni adoráis la estatua de oro que yo he alzado?
15Ahora, pues, estad dispuestos: Al momento que oigáis el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, prosternaos y adorad la estatua que yo he hecho. Si no la adoráis, al instante seréis arrojados en un horno de fuego ardiente; y ¿quién es el Dios que os librará de mi mano?”
16Respondieron Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: “No tenemos necesidad de responderte acerca de este asunto,
17Si nuestro Dios, a quien servimos, quiere librarnos, nos librará del horno de fuego ardiente y de tu mano, oh rey.
18Y si no, sabe, oh rey, que nosotros no serviremos a tus dioses, ni adoraremos la estatua de oro que ha sido por ti levantada.”
19Entonces Nabucodonosor se enfureció, y el aspecto de su rostro se demudó contra Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago. Y tomando de nuevo la palabra, mandó encender el horno siete veces más fuerte de lo acostumbrado.
20Y dio orden a algunos de los más robustos de su ejército, de que ataran a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, para arrojarlos en el horno de fuego ardiente.
21Entonces fueron atados estos varones, con sus capas, sus túnicas, sus gorras y sus (otros) vestidos, y echados en el horno de fuego ardiente.
22Y como la orden del rey era urgente, y el horno excesivamente caliente, la llama de fuego abrasó a aquellos hombres que habían echado a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago.
23Así estos tres varones, Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, cayeron atados en medio del horno de fuego ardiente.
24Pero ellos andaban por medio de las llamas loando a Dios y bendiciendo al Señor.
25Entonces Azarías, poniéndose en pie, oró de esta manera, y abriendo su boca en medio del fuego, dijo:
26“Bendito eres, Señor, Dios de nuestros padres; digno de alabanza es tu nombre y glorioso por los siglos.
27Porque Tú eres justo en todo lo que hiciste con nosotros; y verdaderas son todas las obras tuyas, rectos tus caminos, y justos todos tus juicios.
28Pues justos fueron tus juicios en todo lo que trajiste sobre nosotros y sobre la santa ciudad de nuestros padres, Jerusalén; porque en verdad y en justicia enviaste todas estas cosas por causa de nuestros pecados.
29Puesto que hemos pecado y obrado inicuamente, apostatando de Ti y en todo hemos faltado;
30no hemos obedecido tus preceptos ni los hemos observado; no hemos obrado según habías dispuesto para que fuésemos felices.
31Todo cuanto has enviado sobre nosotros, y todo lo que nos has hecho, justísimamente lo has hecho.
32Nos entregaste en manos de nuestros enemigos malvados, perversos y prevaricadores, y en poder de un rey injusto, el peor de toda la tierra.
33Y ahora no podemos abrir la boca, siendo como somos objeto de confusión y de oprobio para tus siervos y para quienes te adoran.
34Te rogamos que por amor de tu nombre no nos abandones para siempre, ni destruyas tu alianza.
35ni apartes de nosotros tu misericordia, por amor de Abrahán, tu amado, y de Isaac siervo tuyo, y de Israel tu santo,
36a los cuales hablaste, prometiendo que multiplicarías su linaje como las estrellas del cielo, y como la arena en la playa del mar.
37Porque nosotros, oh Señor, hemos sido empequeñecidos más que todas las naciones, y estamos hoy día abatidos en todo el mundo por causa de nuestros pecados.
38Y no tenemos en este tiempo príncipe ni caudillo, ni profeta, ni holocausto, ni sacrificio, ni ofrenda, ni incienso, ni lugar (donde presentarte) las primicias, a fin de poder alcanzar tu misericordia.
39Pero recíbenos Tú, contritos de corazón, y con espíritu humillado.
40Como el holocausto de los carneros y toros, y los millares de gordos corderos, así sea hoy nuestro sacrificio delante de Ti, para que te sea acepto; pues jamás quedan confundidos los que en Ti confían.
41Te seguimos ahora de todo corazón, y te tememos, y buscamos tu rostro.
42No quieras confundirnos; haz con nosotros según la mansedumbre tuya, y según tu grandísima misericordia.
43Líbranos con tus prodigios, y glorifica, oh Señor, tu Nombre.
44Avergonzados queden todos cuantos hacen sufrir tribulaciones a tus siervos; queden confundidos por medio de todo tu poder y sea aniquilada su fuerza;
45y sepan que Tú eres el Señor, Dios único y glorioso en la redondez de la tierra.”
46Entretanto, los siervos del rey que los habían arrojado, no cesaban de cebar el fuego con betún, estopa, pez y sarmientos.
47Y se extendía la llama sobre el horno hasta la (altura de) cuarenta y nueve codos;
48y saltando fuera abrasó a los caldeos que halló cerca del horno.
49Mas el Ángel del Señor descendió al horno, y estaba con Azarías y con sus compañeros, sacudiendo del horno la llama del fuego.
50E hizo que en medio del horno soplase como un viento de rocío; y el fuego no los tocó en parte alguna, ni los afligió, ni les causó la menor molestia.
51Entonces aquellos tres, como si no tuviesen sino una sola boca, alabaron, y glorificaron, y bendijeron a Dios en medio del horno, diciendo:
52Bendito eres Tú, Señor, Dios de nuestros padres, digno de ser alabado y glorificado y ensalzado por todos los siglos. Bendito sea tu santo y glorioso Nombre, digno de ser alabado y ensalzado por todos los siglos.
53Bendito eres Tú en el Templo santo de tu gloria, y sobre todo loor, y sobre toda gloria por los siglos.
54Bendito eres Tú en el trono de tu reino, y sobre todo loor y sobre toda gloria por los siglos.
55Bendito eres Tú que penetras los abismos y te sientas sobre querubines, y eres digno de loor y de ser ensalzado por los siglos.
56Bendito eres en el firmamento del cielo, y digno de loor y de gloria por los siglos.
57Obras todas del Señor, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
58Ángeles del Señor, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
59Cielos, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
60Aguas todas que estáis sobre los cielos, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
61Ejércitos todos del Señor, bendecid al Señor, loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
62Sol y luna, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
63Estrellas del cielo, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.

79Monstruos del mar y cuanto se mueve en las aguas, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
80Aves todas del cielo, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
81Bestias todas y ganados, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
82Hijos de los hombres, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
83Bendiga Israel al Señor; alábele y ensálcele por los siglos.
84Sacerdotes del Señor, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
85Siervos del Señor, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
86Espíritus y almas de los justos, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
87Santos y humildes de corazón, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos.
88Ananías, Azarías y Misael, bendecid al Señor; loadle y ensalzadle por los siglos. Porque Él nos sacó del infierno y nos libró de la mano de la muerte; nos salvó de en medio de las ardientes llamas, sacándonos del fuego.
89Tributad gloria al Señor, porque es bueno, porque es eterna su misericordia.
90Todos los que dais culto a Dios, bendecid al Señor, al Dios de los dioses; loadle y celebradle, porque su misericordia permanece por todos los siglos.
91Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor se asombró y levantándose apresuradamente, se dirigió a sus consejeros y dijo: “¿No fueron tres los hombres que echamos atados en medio del fuego?” Respondieron ellos y dijeron al rey: “Así es, oh rey.”
92Y él repuso, diciendo: “He aquí, que yo veo cuatro hombres sueltos, que se pasean en medio del fuego, sin que hayan padecido daño alguno, y el aspecto del cuarto es semejante a un hijo de Dios.”
93Entonces Nabucodonosor, acercándose a la boca del horno de fuego ardiente, tomó la palabra y dijo: “¡Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, siervos del Dios Altísimo, salid y venid!” Salieron, pues, Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago de en medio del fuego.
94Y habiéndose reunido los sátrapas, los gobernadores, los altos jefes y los consejeros del rey, vieron a esos varones sobre cuyos cuerpos el fuego no había tenido ningún poder. Ni un cabello de su cabeza se había chamuscado, sus ropas estaban intactas, ni siquiera el olor del fuego los había alcanzado.
95Entonces Nabucodonosor tomó la palabra y dijo: “Bendito sea el Dios de Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, que ha enviado su ángel y ha salvado a sus siervos que han confiado en Él, traspasaron la orden del rey y entregaron sus cuerpos para no servir ni adorar a dios alguno fuera del Dios suyo.
96Publico por mi parte este decreto: Cualquier pueblo, nación o lengua que hable mal del Dios de Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, será hecho pedazos, y sus casas serán convertidas en cloacas; por cuanto no hay ningún otro dios que pueda salvar de tal manera.”
97Y el rey ensalzó a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago en la provincia de Babilonia.
98“El rey Nabucodonosor a todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas que habitan en toda la tierra: La paz os sea dada en abundancia.
99Me parece conveniente publicar las señales y las maravillas que el Dios Altísimo ha hecho conmigo.
100¡Cuán grandes son sus señales y cuan estupendas sus maravillas! Su reino es reino eterno y su poderío subsiste de generación en generación.”

1EL rey Nabucodonosor hizo una estatua de oro, la altura de la cual era de sesenta codos, su anchura de seis codos: levantóla en el campo de Dura, en la provincia de Babilonia.
2Y envió el rey Nabucodonosor á juntar los grandes, los asistentes y capitanes, oidores, receptores, los del consejo, presidentes, y á todos los gobernadores de las provincias, para que viniesen á la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.
3Fueron pues reunidos los grandes, los asistentes y capitanes, los oidores, receptores, los del consejo, los presidentes, y todos los gobernadores de las provincias, á la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado: y estaban en pie delante de la estatua que había levantado el rey Nabucodonosor.
4Y el pregonero pregonaba en alta voz: Mándase á vosotros, oh pueblos, naciones, y lenguas,
5En oyendo el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, os postraréis y adoraréis la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor ha levantado:
6Y cualquiera que no se postrare y adorare, en la misma hora será echado dentro de un horno de fuego ardiendo.
7Por lo cual, en oyendo todos los pueblos el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, se postraron, y adoraron la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.
8Por esto en el mismo tiempo algunos varones Caldeos se llegaron, y denunciaron de los Judíos,
9Hablando y diciendo al rey Nabucodonosor: Rey, para siempre vive.
10Tú, oh rey, pusiste ley que todo hombre en oyendo el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, se postrase y adorase la estatua de oro:
11Y el que no se postrase y adorase, fuese echado dentro de un horno de fuego ardiendo.
12Hay unos varones Judíos, los cuales pusiste tú sobre los negocios de la provincia de Babilonia; Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego: estos varones, oh rey, no han hecho cuenta de ti; no adoran tus dioses, no adoran la estatua de oro que tú levantaste.
13Entonces Nabucodonosor dijo con ira y con enojo que trajesen á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego. Al punto fueron traídos estos varones delante del rey.
14Habló Nabucodonosor, y díjoles: ¿Es verdad Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, que vosotros no honráis á mi dios, ni adoráis la estatua de oro que he levantado?
15Ahora pues, ¿estáis prestos para que en oyendo el son de la bocina, del pífano, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, os postréis, y adoréis la estatua que he hecho? Porque si no la adorareis, en la misma hora seréis echados en medio de un horno de fuego ardiendo: ¿y qué dios será aquel que os libre de mis manos?
16Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego respondieron y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: No cuidamos de responderte sobre este negocio.
17He aquí nuestro Dios á quien honramos, puede librarnos del horno de fuego ardiendo; y de tu mano, oh rey, nos librará.
18Y si no, sepas, oh rey, que tu dios no adoraremos, ni tampoco honraremos la estatua que has levantado.
19Entonces Nabucodonosor fué lleno de ira, y demudóse la figura de su rostro sobre Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego: así habló, y ordenó que el horno se encendiese siete veces tanto de lo que cada vez solía.
20Y mandó á hombres muy vigorosos que tenía en su ejército, que atasen á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, para echarlos en el horno de fuego ardiendo.
21Entonces estos varones fueron atados con sus mantos, y sus calzas, y sus turbantes, y sus vestidos, y fueron echados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.
22Y porque la palabra del rey daba priesa, y había procurado que se encendiese mucho, la llama del fuego mató á aquellos que habían alzado á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego.
23Y estos tres varones, Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, cayeron atados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.
24Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor se espantó, y levantóse apriesa, y habló, y dijo á los de su consejo: ¿No echaron tres varones atados dentro del fuego? Ellos respondieron y dijeron al rey: Es verdad, oh rey.
25Respondió él y dijo: He aquí que yo veo cuatro varones sueltos, que se pasean en medio del fuego, y ningún daño hay en ellos: y el parecer del cuarto es semejante á hijo de los dioses.
26Entonces Nabucodonosor se acercó á la puerta del horno de fuego ardiendo, y habló y dijo: Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, siervos del alto Dios, salid y venid. Entonces Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, salieron de en medio del fuego.
27Y juntáronse los grandes, los gobernadores, los capitanes, y los del consejo del rey, para mirar estos varones, como el fuego no se enseñoreó de sus cuerpos, ni cabello de sus cabezas fué quemado, ni sus ropas se mudaron, ni olor de fuego había pasado por ellos.
28Nabucodonosor habló y dijo: Bendito el Dios de ellos, de Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, que envió su ángel, y libró sus siervos que esperaron en él, y el mandamiento del rey mudaron, y entregaron sus cuerpos antes que sirviesen ni adorasen otro dios que su Dios.
29Por mí pues se pone decreto, que todo pueblo, nación, ó lengua, que dijere blasfemia contra el Dios de Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego, sea descuartizado, y su casa sea puesta por muladar; por cuanto no hay dios que pueda librar como éste.
30Entonces el rey engrandeció á Sadrach, Mesach, y Abed-nego en la provincia de Babilonia.

1Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
4Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
5That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
7Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
8Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
9They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.
10Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:
11And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
12There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
13Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then they brought these men before the king.
14Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
15Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
19Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
20And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
21Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
22Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.
23And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
27And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
28Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
29Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, in the province of Babylon.

1Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its width six cubits. He set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the local governors, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3Then the local governors, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces were gathered together to the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
4Then the herald cried aloud, “To you it is commanded, peoples, nations, and languages,
5that whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up.
6Whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall be cast into the middle of a burning fiery furnace the same hour.”
7Therefore at that time, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, all the peoples, the nations, and the languages fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
8Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near and brought accusation against the Jews.
9They answered Nebuchadnezzar the king, “O king, live for ever!
10You, O king, have made a decree that every man who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music shall fall down and worship the golden image;
11and whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall be cast into the middle of a burning fiery furnace.
12There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, have not respected you. They don’t serve your gods, and don’t worship the golden image which you have set up.”
13Then Nebuchadnezzar in rage and fury commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. Then these men were brought before the king.
14Nebuchadnezzar answered them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don’t serve my gods and you don’t worship the golden image which I have set up?
15Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, good; but if you don’t worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the middle of a burning fiery furnace. Who is that god who will deliver you out of my hands?”
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.
17If it happens, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
18But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.”
19Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the form of his appearance was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.
20He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
21Then these men were bound in their pants, their tunics, and their mantles, and their other clothes, and were cast into the middle of the burning fiery furnace.
22Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
23These three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the middle of the burning fiery furnace.
24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished and rose up in haste. He spoke and said to his counselors, “Didn’t we cast three men bound into the middle of the fire?” They answered the king, “True, O king.”
25He answered, “Look, I see four men loose, walking in the middle of the fire, and they are unharmed. The appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.”
26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace. He spoke and said, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the middle of the fire.
27The local governors, the deputies, and the governors, and the king’s counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, that the fire had no power on their bodies. The hair of their head wasn’t singed. Their pants weren’t changed. The smell of fire wasn’t even on them.
28Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and delivered his servants who trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and have yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god except their own God.
29Therefore I make a decree that every people, nation, and language which speak anything evil against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill, because there is no other god who is able to deliver like this.”
30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
