1Folgendes (Gesicht) hat Gott der HERR mich schauen lassen: Ich sah einen Korb mit reifem Obst dastehen.
2Da fragte er mich: »Was siehst du, Amos?« Ich antwortete: »Einen Korb mit reifem Obst.« Da sagte der HERR zu mir: »Gekommen ist das Ende für mein Volk Israel: ich will fortan nicht mehr schonend an ihm vorübergehen.
3Heulen werden die Lieder in den Palästen an jenem Tage« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –; »Leichen in Menge: an allen Orten wirft man sie hin! Still!«
4Höret dies, die ihr den Dürftigen gierig nachstellt und auf die Vernichtung der Notleidenden im Lande ausgeht!
5Die ihr sagt: »Wann ist der Neumond vorüber, damit wir wieder Getreide verhandeln? Und wann der Sabbat, damit wir die Kornspeicher wieder auftun können, (nämlich) um das Getreidemaß zu verkleinern und den Geldpreis zu erhöhen und die Waage betrügerisch zu fälschen,
6um die Armen für Geld und die Dürftigen für ein Paar Schuhe (als Sklaven) zu kaufen und auch den Abfall des Getreides zu verhandeln?«
7Geschworen hat der HERR bei dem, auf welchen Jakob stolz ist: »Niemals will ich all ihr Tun vergessen!«
8Müßte nicht um solcher Dinge willen die Erde erbeben und alle ihre Bewohner in Trauer geraten, so daß sie überall sich emporhöbe wie der Nil und aufwogte und sich wieder senkte wie der Strom Ägyptens?
9»Und geschehen wird es an jenem Tage« – so lautet der Ausspruch Gottes des HERRN –, »da lasse ich die Sonne schon am Mittag untergehen und werde Finsternis über die Erde kommen lassen am lichten Tage.
10Und ich werde eure Feste in Trauer verwandeln und alle eure Lieder in Totenklage; da werde ich an alle Hüften das Trauergewand bringen und auf jedes Haupt die Glatze, und ich werde es dabei hergehen lassen wie bei der Trauer um den einzigen Sohn und will das Ende davon zu einem bitteren Unheilstage machen!
11Wisset wohl: es werden Tage kommen« – so lautet der Ausspruch Gottes, des HERRN –, »da will ich einen Hunger (und Durst) ins Land senden (daß alle seine Bewohner vergehen), doch nicht einen Hunger nach Brot und nicht einen Durst nach Wasser, sondern danach, die Worte des HERRN zu hören.
12Da werden sie von einem Meer zum andern wanken und vom Norden nach dem Osten schweifen, um das Wort des HERRN zu suchen, werden es aber nicht finden.
13An jenem Tage werden die schönen Jungfrauen und die jungen Männer vor Durst ohnmächtig hinsinken,
14sie, die jetzt bei der Schuld Samarias schwören mit den Worten: ›So wahr dein Gott lebt, Dan!‹ und ›So wahr dein Schutzgott lebt, Beerseba!‹ Sie sollen fallen und nicht wieder aufstehen.«

1ASÍ me ha mostrado Jehová: y he aquí un canastillo de fruta de verano.
2Y dijo: ¿Qué ves, Amós? Y dije: Un canastillo de fruta de verano. Y díjome Jehová: Venido ha el fin sobre mi pueblo Israel; no le pasaré más.
3Y los cantores del templo aullarán en aquel día, dice el Señor Jehová; muchos serán los cuerpos muertos; en todo lugar echados serán en silencio.
4Oid esto, los que tragáis á los menesterosos, y arruináis los pobres de la tierra,
5Diciendo: ¿Cuándo pasará el mes, y venderemos el trigo; y la semana, y abriremos los alfolíes del pan, y achicaremos la medida, y engrandeceremos el precio, y falsearemos el peso engañoso;
6Para comprar los pobres por dinero, y los necesitados por un par de zapatos, y venderemos las aechaduras del trigo?
7Jehová juró por la gloria de Jacob: No me olvidaré para siempre de todas sus obras.
8¿No se ha de estremecer la tierra sobre esto? ¿y todo habitador de ella no llorará? y subirá toda como un río, y será arrojada, y hundiráse como el río de Egipto.
9Y acaecerá en aquel día, dice el Señor Jehová, que haré se ponga el sol al mediodía, y la tierra cubriré de tinieblas en el día claro.
10Y tornaré vuestras fiestas en lloro, y todos vuestros cantares en endechas; y haré poner saco sobre todos lomos, y peladura sobre toda cabeza; y tornaréla como en llanto de unigénito, y su postrimería como día amargo.
11He aquí vienen días, dice el Señor Jehová, en los cuales enviaré hambre á la tierra, no hambre de pan, ni sed de agua, sino de oir palabra de Jehová.
12E irán errantes de mar á mar: desde el norte hasta el oriente discurrirán buscando palabra de Jehová, y no la hallarán.
13En aquel tiempo las doncellas hermosas y los mancebos desmayarán de sed.
14Los que juran por el pecado de Samaria, y dicen, Vive tu Dios de Dan: y, Vive el camino de Beer-seba: caerán, y nunca más se levantarán.

1Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.
2And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
3And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
4Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,
5Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
6That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
7The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
9And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
10And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
11Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
12And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
13In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
14They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beer-sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

1Thus the Lord GOD showed me: behold, a basket of summer fruit.
2He said, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then the LORD said to me, “The end has come on my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.
3The songs of the temple will be wailing in that day,” says the Lord GOD. “The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence.
4Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,
5saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;
6that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?’”
7The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob, “Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8Won’t the land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it will rise up wholly like the River; and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the River of Egypt.
9It will happen in that day,” says the Lord GOD, “that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.
10I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.
11Behold, the days come,” says the Lord GOD, “that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the LORD’s words.
12They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek the LORD’s word, and will not find it.
13In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men will faint for thirst.
14Those who swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, ‘As your god, Dan, lives,’ and, ‘As the way of Beersheba lives,’ they will fall, and never rise up again.”
