1und erzählete es ihnen alles und sandte sie gen Joppe.
2Des andern Tages, da diese auf dem Wege waren und nahe zur Stadt kamen, stieg Petrus hinauf auf den Söller, zu beten, um die sechste Stunde.
3Und als er hungrig ward, wollte er essen. Da sie ihm aber zubereiteten, ward er entzückt
4und sah den Himmel aufgetan und herniederfahren zu ihm ein Gefäß wie ein groß leinen Tuch, an vier Zipfeln gebunden, und ward niedergelassen auf die Erde.
5Darinnen waren allerlei vierfüßige Tiere der Erde und wilde Tiere und Gewürm und Vögel des Himmels.
6Und geschah eine Stimme zu ihm: Stehe auf, Petrus, schlachte und iß!
7Petrus aber sprach: O nein, HERR; denn ich habe noch nie etwas Gemeines oder Unreines gegessen.
8Und die Stimme sprach zum andernmal zu ihm: Was Gott gereiniget hat, das mache du nicht gemein.
9Und das geschah zu drei Malen; und das Gefäß ward wieder aufgenommen gen Himmel.
10Als aber Petrus sich in sich selbst bekümmerte, was das Gesicht wäre, das er gesehen hatte, siehe, da fragten die Männer, von Cornelius gesandt, nach dem Hause Simons und stunden an der Tür,
11riefen und forscheten, ob Simon mit dem Zunamen Petrus allda zur Herberge wäre.
12Indem aber Petrus sich besinnet über dem Gesichte, sprach der Geist zu ihm: Siehe, drei Männer suchen dich.
13Aber stehe auf, steige hinab und zieh mit ihnen und zweifle nichts; denn ich habe sie gesandt.
14Da stieg Petrus hinab zu den Männern, die von Cornelius zu ihm gesandt waren, und sprach: Siehe, ich bin's, den ihr suchet; was ist die Sache, darum ihr hier seid?
15Sie aber sprachen: Cornelius, der Hauptmann, ein frommer und gottesfürchtiger Mann und gutes Gerüchts bei dem ganzen Volk der Juden, hat einen Befehl empfangen vom heiligen Engel, daß er dich sollte fordern lassen in sein Haus und Worte von dir hören.
16Da rief er sie hinein und herbergete sie. Des andern Tages zog Petrus aus mit ihnen, und etliche Brüder von Joppe gingen mit ihm.
17Und des andern Tages kamen sie gen Cäsarea. Cornelius aber wartete auf sie und rief zusammen seine Verwandten und Freunde.
18Und als Petrus hineinkam, ging ihm Cornelius entgegen und fiel zu seinen Füßen und betete ihn an.
19Petrus aber richtete ihn auf und sprach: Stehe auf; ich bin auch ein Mensch.
20Und als er sich mit ihm besprochen hatte, ging er hinein und fand ihrer viel, die zusammenkommen waren.
21Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset, wie es ein ungewohnet Ding ist einem jüdischen Mann, sich zu tun oder zu kommen zu einem Fremdling; aber Gott hat mir gezeiget, keinen Menschen gemein oder unrein zu heißen.
22Darum habe ich mich nicht geweigert zu kommen, als ich bin hergefordert. So frage ich euch nun, warum ihr mich habt lassen fordern.
23Cornelius sprach: Ich habe vier Tage gefastet bis an diese Stunde, und um die neunte Stunde betete ich in meinem Hause. Und siehe, da trat ein Mann vor mich in einem hellen Kleide
24und sprach: Cornelius, dein Gebet ist erhöret, und deiner Almosen ist gedacht worden vor Gott.
25So sende nun gen Joppe und laß herrufen einen Simon mit dem Zunamen Petrus, welcher ist zur Herberge in dem Hause des Gerbers Simon an dem Meer; der wird dir, wenn er kommt, sagen.
26Da sandte ich von Stund' an zu dir. Und du hast wohl getan, daß du kommen bist. Nun sind wir alle hier gegenwärtig vor Gott, zu hören alles, was dir von Gott befohlen ist.
27Petrus aber tat seinen Mund auf und sprach: Nun erfahre ich mit der Wahrheit, daß Gott die Person nicht ansiehet,
28sondern in allerlei Volk, wer ihn fürchtet und recht tut, der ist ihm angenehm.
29Ihr wisset wohl von der Predigt, die Gott zu den Kindern Israel gesandt hat, und verkündigen lassen den Frieden durch Jesum Christum ( welcher ist ein HERR über alles),
30die durchs ganze jüdische Land geschehen ist und angefangen in Galiläa nach der Taufe, die Johannes predigte:
31wie Gott denselbigen Jesum von Nazareth gesalbet hat mit dem Heiligen Geiste und Kraft; der umhergezogen ist und hat wohlgetan und gesund gemacht alle, die vom Teufel überwältiget waren; denn Gott war mit ihm.
32Und wir sind Zeugen alles des, was er getan hat im jüdischen Lande und zu Jerusalem. Den haben sie getötet und an ein Holz gehänget.
33Denselbigen hat Gott auferwecket am dritten Tage und ihn lassen offenbar werden,
34nicht allem Volk, sondern uns, den vorerwählten Zeugen von Gott, die wir mit ihm gegessen und getrunken haben, nachdem er auferstanden ist von den Toten.
35Und er hat uns geboten, zu predigen dem Volk und zu zeugen, daß er ist verordnet von Gott ein Richter der Lebendigen und der Toten.
36Von diesem zeugen alle Propheten, daß durch seinen Namen alle, die an ihn glauben, Vergebung der Sünden empfangen sollen.
37Da Petrus noch diese Worte redete, fiel der Heilige Geist auf alle, die dem Wort zuhöreten.
38Und die Gläubigen aus der Beschneidung, die mit Petrus kommen waren, entsetzten sich, daß auch auf die Heiden die Gabe des Heiligen Geistes ausgegossen ward.
39Denn sie höreten, daß sie mit Zungen redeten und Gott hoch preiseten. Da antwortete Petrus:
40Mag auch jemand das Wasser wehren, daß diese nicht getaufet werden, die den Heiligen Geist empfangen haben gleichwie auch wir?
41Und befahl, sie zu taufen in dem Namen des HERRN. Da baten sie ihn, daß er etliche Tage dabliebe.
42Es kam aber vor die Apostel und Brüder, die in dem jüdischen Lande waren, daß auch die Heiden hätten Gottes Wort angenommen.
43Und da Petrus hinaufkam gen Jerusalem, zankten mit ihm, die aus der Beschneidung waren,
44und sprachen: Du bist eingegangen zu den Männern, die Vorhaut haben, und hast mit ihnen gegessen!
45Petrus aber hub an und erzählte es ihnen nacheinander her und sprach:
46Ich war in der Stadt Joppe im Gebet und war entzückt und sah ein Gesicht, nämlich ein Gefäß herniederfahren wie ein groß leinen Tuch mit vier Zipfeln und niedergelassen vom Himmel, und kam bis zu mir.
47Darein sah ich und ward gewahr und sah vierfüßige Tiere der Erde und wilde Tiere und Gewürm und Vögel des Himmels.
48Ich hörete aber eine Stimme, die sprach zu mir: Stehe auf, Petrus, schlachte und iß!

1Y HABÍA un varón en Cesarea llamado Cornelio, centurión de la compañía que se llamaba la Italiana,
2Pío y temeroso de Dios con toda su casa, y que hacía muchas limosnas al pueblo, y oraba á Dios siempre.
3Este vió en visión manifiestamente, como á la hora nona del día, que un ángel de Dios entraba á él, y le decía: Cornelio.
4Y él, puestos en él los ojos, espantado, dijo: ¿Qué es, Señor? Y díjole: Tus oraciones y tus limosnas han subido en memoria á la presencia de Dios.
5Envía pues ahora hombres á Joppe, y haz venir á un Simón, que tiene por sobrenombre Pedro.
6Este posa en casa de un Simón, curtidor, que tiene su casa junto á la mar: él te dirá lo que te conviene hacer.
7E ido el ángel que hablaba con Cornelio, llamó dos de sus criados, y un devoto soldado de los que le asistían;
8A los cuales, después de habérselo contado todo, los envió á Joppe.
9Y al día siguiente, yendo ellos su camino, y llegando cerca de la ciudad, Pedro subió á la azotea á orar, cerca de la hora de sexta;
10Y aconteció que le vino una grande hambre, y quiso comer; pero mientras disponían, sobrevínole un éxtasis;
11Y vió el cielo abierto, y que descendía un vaso, como un gran lienzo, que atado de los cuatro cabos era bajado á la tierra;
12En el cual había de todos los animales cuadrúpedos de la tierra, y reptiles, y aves del cielo.
13Y le vino una voz: Levántate, Pedro, mata y come.
14Entonces Pedro dijo: Señor, no; porque ninguna cosa común é inmunda he comido jamás.
15Y volvió la voz hacia él la segunda vez: Lo que Dios limpió, no lo llames tú común.
16Y esto fué hecho por tres veces; y el vaso volvió á ser recogido en el cielo.
17Y estando Pedro dudando dentro de sí qué sería la visión que había visto, he aquí, los hombres que habían sido enviados por Cornelio, que, preguntando por la casa de Simón, llegaron á la puerta.
18Y llamando, preguntaron si un Simón que tenía por sobrenombre Pedro, posaba allí.
19Y estando Pedro pensando en la visión, le dijo el Espíritu: He aquí, tres hombres te buscan.
20Levántate, pues, y desciende, y no dudes ir con ellos; porque yo los he enviado.
21Entonces Pedro, descendiendo á los hombres que eran enviados por Cornelio, dijo: He aquí, yo soy el que buscáis: ¿cuál es la causa por la que habéis venido?
22Y ellos dijeron: Cornelio, el centurión, varón justo y temeroso de Dios, y que tiene testimonio de toda la nación de los Judíos, ha recibido respuesta por un santo ángel, de hacerte venir á su casa, y oir de ti palabras.
23Entonces metiéndolos dentro, los hospedó. Y al día siguiente, levantándose, se fué con ellos; y le acompañaron algunos de los hermanos de Joppe.
24Y al otro día entraron en Cesarea. Y Cornelio los estaba esperando, habiendo llamado á sus parientes y los amigos más familiares.
25Y como Pedro entró, salió Cornelio á recibirle; y derribándose á sus pies, adoró.
26Mas Pedro le levantó, diciendo: Levántate; yo mismo también soy hombre.
27Y hablando con él, entró, y halló á muchos que se habían juntado.
28Y les dijo: Vosotros sabéis que es abominable á un varón Judío juntarse ó llegarse á extranjero; mas me ha mostrado Dios que á ningún hombre llame común ó inmundo;
29Por lo cual, llamado, he venido sin dudar. Así que pregunto: ¿por qué causa me habéis hecho venir?
30Entonces Cornelio dijo: Cuatro días ha que á esta hora yo estaba ayuno; y á la hora de nona estando orando en mi casa, he aquí, un varón se puso delante de mí en vestido resplandeciente.
31Y dijo: Cornelio, tu oración es oída, y tus limosnas han venido en memoria en la presencia de Dios.
32Envía pues á Joppe, y haz venir á un Simón, que tiene por sobrenombre Pedro; éste posa en casa de Simón, curtidor, junto á la mar; el cual venido, te hablará.
33Así que, luego envié á ti; y tú has hecho bien en venir. Ahora pues, todos nosotros estamos aquí en la presencia de Dios, para oir todo lo que Dios te ha mandado.
34Entonces Pedro, abriendo su boca, dijo: Por verdad hallo que Dios no hace acepción de personas;
35Sino que de cualquiera nación que le teme y obra justicia, se agrada.
36Envió palabra Dios á los hijos de Israel, anunciando la paz por Jesucristo; éste es el Señor de todos.
37Vosotros sabéis lo que fué divulgado por toda Judea; comenzando desde Galilea después del bautismo que Juan predicó,
38Cuanto á Jesús de Nazaret; cómo le ungió Dios de Espíritu Santo y de potencia; el cual anduvo haciendo bienes, y sanando á todos los oprimidos del diablo; porque Dios era con él.
39Y nosotros somos testigos de todas las cosas que hizo en la tierra de Judea, y en Jerusalem; al cual mataron colgándole en un madero.
40A éste levantó Dios al tercer día, é hizo que apareciese manifiesto,
41No á todo el pueblo, sino á los testigos que Dios antes había ordenado, es á saber, á nosotros que comimos y bebimos con él, después que resucitó de los muertos.
42Y nos mandó que predicásemos al pueblo, y testificásemos que él es el que Dios ha puesto por Juez de vivos y muertos.
43A éste dan testimonio todos los profetas, de que todos los que en él creyeren, recibirán perdón de pecados por su nombre.
44Estando aún hablando Pedro estas palabras, el Espíritu Santo cayó sobre todos los que oían el sermón.
45Y se espantaron los fieles que eran de la circuncisión, que habían venido con Pedro, de que también sobre los Gentiles se derramase el don del Espíritu Santo.
46Porque los oían que hablaban en lenguas, y que magnificaban á Dios.
47Entonces respondió Pedro: ¿Puede alguno impedir el agua, para que no sean bautizados éstos que han recibido el Espíritu Santo también como nosotros?
48Y les mandó bautizar en el nombre del Señor Jesús. Entonces le rogaron que se quedase por algunos días.

1There was a certain man in Cæsarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
2A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
3He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
4And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
5And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:
6He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.
7And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
8And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.
9On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
10And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
11And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
12Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
13And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
14But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
15And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
16This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
17Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,
18And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
19While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
20Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.
21Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
22And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.
23Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
24And the morrow after they entered into Cæsarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.
25And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
26But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
27And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
28And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
29Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?
30And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
31And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
32Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.
33Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
34Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
36The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
37That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judæa, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
39And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
40Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
41Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
42And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
43To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

1Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,
2a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.
3At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”
4He, fastening his eyes on him and being frightened, said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.
5Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is also called Peter.
6He is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the seaside.
7When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.
8Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
9Now on the next day as they were on their journey and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.
10He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.
11He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,
12in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
13A voice came to him, “Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”
14But Peter said, “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”
15A voice came to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.”
16This was done three times, and immediately the thing was received up into heaven.
17Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,
18and called and asked whether Simon, who was also called Peter, was lodging there.
19While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men seek you.
20But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”
21Peter went down to the men, and said, “Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?”
22They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”
23So he called them in and provided a place to stay. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
24On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.
25When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.
26But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up! I myself am also a man.”
27As he talked with him, he went in and found many gathered together.
28He said to them, “You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.
29Therefore I also came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?”
30Cornelius said, “Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing
31and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.
32Send therefore to Joppa and summon Simon, who is also called Peter. He is staying in the house of a tanner named Simon, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.’
33Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”
34Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism;
35but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.
36The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all—
37you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
39We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree.
40God raised him up the third day and gave him to be revealed,
41not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
42He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.
43All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.”
44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.
45They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.
46For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,
47“Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.”
48He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.
