21Cuando Abner emprendió el regreso, prometió a David: «Cuando yo regrese, convocaré a todo el pueblo de Israel, para que lo elijan como su rey, tal como usted lo ha deseado por tanto tiempo». Después de despedirse de David, Abner regresó a su casa en paz.

21Y dijo Abner á David: Yo me levantaré é iré, y juntaré á mi señor el rey á todo Israel, para que hagan contigo alianza, y tú reines como deseas. David despidió luego á Abner, y él se fué en paz.

21And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.
