2 Samuel 19

A Joab se le dijo: "Mira, el rey está llorando y de luto por Absalón."

Y DIERON aviso á Joab: He aquí el rey llora, y hace duelo por Absalom.

And it was told Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom.

Joab was told, “Behold, the king weeps and mourns for Absalom.”

Así que la victoria ese día se tornó en luto para todo el ejército, pues el ejército escuchó decir ese día: "El rey está de luto por su hijo."

Y volvióse aquel día la victoria en luto para todo el pueblo; porque oyó decir el pueblo aquel día que el rey tenía dolor por su hijo.

And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son.

Los soldados tuvieron que escabullirse silenciosamente en la ciudad ese día, como gente que está avergonzada se escabuye cuando ellos corren de la batalla.

Entróse el pueblo aquel día en la ciudad escondidamente, como suele entrar á escondidas el pueblo avergonzado que ha huído de la batalla.

And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

The people sneaked into the city that day, as people who are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

El rey cubrió su cara y gritó en voz alta: "¡Mi hijo Absalón, Absalón, mi hijo, mi hijo!"

Mas el rey, cubierto el rostro, clamaba en alta voz: ¡Hijo mío Absalom, Absalom, hijo mío, hijo mío!

But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!

Luego Joab entró en la casa donde estaba el rey y le dijo: "Hoy tu has avergonzado los rostros de todos tus soldados quienes salvaron tu vida y las vidas de tus hijos, de tus hijas y las vidas de tus esposas y las vidas de tus esposas esclavas.

Y entrando Joab en casa al rey, díjole: Hoy has avergonzado el rostro de todos tus siervos, que han hoy librado tu vida, y la vida de tus hijos y de tus hijas, y la vida de tus mujeres, y la vida de tus concubinas,

And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;

Porque tu amas a esos quienes te odian y tu odias a esos quienes te aman. Pues hoy has demostrado que los comandantes y soldados son nada para ti. Hoy yo creo que si Absalón hubiera vivido y todos nosotros hubiéramos muerto entonces eso te hubiera agradado.

Amando á los que te aborrecen, y aborreciendo á los que te aman: porque hoy has declarado que nada te importan tus príncipes y siervos; pues hoy echo de ver que si Absalom viviera, bien que nosotros todos estuviéramos hoy muertos, entonces te contentaras.

In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.

in that you love those who hate you and hate those who love you. For you have declared today that princes and servants are nothing to you. For today I perceive that if Absalom had lived and we had all died today, then it would have pleased you well.

Ahora entonces levántate y sal afuera y háblale bondadosamente a tus soldados pues juro por El SEÑOR que si no vas ni un hombre se quedará contigo esta noche. Eso sería peor para ti que todos los desastres que te han ocurrido desde tu juventud hasta ahora."

Levántate pues ahora, y sal fuera, y halaga á tus siervos: porque juro por Jehová, que si no sales, ni aun uno quede contigo esta noche; y de esto te pesará más que de todos los males que te han sobrevenido desde tu mocedad hasta ahora.

Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now.

Así que el rey se levantó y se sentó en la puerta de la ciudad y le fue dicho a todos los hombres: "Miren, el rey está sentado en la puerta." Luego todo el pueblo vino ante el rey. Pero Israel huyó cada hombre a su hogar.

Entonces se levantó el rey, y sentóse á la puerta; y fué declarado á todo el pueblo, diciendo: He aquí el rey está sentado á la puerta. Y vino todo el pueblo delante del rey; mas Israel había huído, cada uno á sus estancias.

Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his tent.

Todo el pueblo estaba discutiendo, los unos con los otros, entre todas las tribus de Israel diciendo: "El rey nos rescató de la mano de nuestros enemigos. Él nos salvó de la mano de los filisteos, pero ahora ha huído del país a causa de Absalón.

Y todo el pueblo porfiaba en todas las tribus de Israel, diciendo: El rey nos ha librado de mano de nuestros enemigos, y él nos ha salvado de mano de los Filisteos; y ahora había huído de la tierra por miedo de Absalom.

And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom.

El rey David envió a Sadoc y Abiatar los sacerdotes diciendo: "Hablen a los ancianos de Judá diciendo: '¿Por qué son ustedes los últimos en traer al rey de vuelta a su palacio, cuando el hablar de todo Israel favorece al rey para traerlo de vuelta a su palacio?

Y el rey David envió á Sadoc y á Abiathar sacerdotes, diciendo: Hablad á los ancianos de Judá y decidles: ¿Por qué seréis vosotros los postreros en volver el rey á su casa, ya que la palabra de todo Israel ha venido al rey de volverle á su casa?

And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his house.

Ustedes son mis hermanos, mi carne y hueso. ¿Por qué entonces son los últimos en traer al rey de vuelta?'

Vosotros sois mis hermanos; mis huesos y mi carne sois: ¿por qué pues seréis vosotros los postreros en volver al rey?

Ye are my brethren, ye are my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king?

Y dile a Amasa: '¿No eres tú mi carne y hueso? Me haga ésto Dios a mí, o más, si no eres el capitán de mi ejército de ahora en adelante en lugar de Joab.'"

Asimismo diréis á Amasa: ¿No eres tú también hueso mío y carne mía? Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, si no fueres general del ejército delante de mí para siempre, en lugar de Joab.

And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.

Y él ganó el corazón de todos los hombres de Judá, como un sólo hombre, y así ellos enviaron al rey diciendo: "Regresa tú y todos tus hombres."

Así inclinó el corazón de todos los varones de Judá, como el de un solo hombre, para que enviasen á decir al rey: Vuelve tú, y todos tus siervos.

And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.

Así que el rey regresó y vino al Jordán y los hombres de Judá vinieron a Gilgal para ir a encontrarse con el rey para escoltarlo al otro lado del Jordán.

Volvió pues el rey, y vino hasta el Jordán. Y Judá vino á Gilgal, á recibir al rey y pasarlo el Jordán.

So the king returned, and came to Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to conduct the king over Jordan.

Simei, hijo de Gera, el benjamita, quien era de Bahurim, se apresuró junto a los hombres de Judá para encontrarse al rey David.

And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, which was of Bahurim, hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

Habían mil hombres de Benjamín con el y Siba siervo de Saúl y sus quince hijos y veinte siervos con él. Ellos cruzaron el Jordán en presencia del rey.

Y con él venían mil hombres de Benjamín; asimismo Siba criado de la casa de Saúl, con sus quince hijos y sus veinte siervos, los cuales pasaron el Jordán delante del rey.

And there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went over Jordan before the king.

Cruzaron para traer a toda la familia del rey y para hacer lo él pensara que fuera bueno. Simei, hijo de Gera, se inclinó ante el rey justo antes de comenzar a cruzar el Jordán.

Atravesó después la barca para pasar la familia del rey, y para hacer lo que le pluguiera. Entonces Semei hijo de Gera se postró delante del rey cuando él había pasado el Jordán.

And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the king’s household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Jordan;

Simei le dijo al rey: "No me considere culpable mi amo o traiga a memoria lo que su siervo obstinadamente hizo ese día que mi señor el rey dejó Jerusalén. Por favor, que el rey no lo lleve a su corazón.

Y dijo al rey: No me impute mi señor iniquidad, ni tengas memoria de los males que tu siervo hizo el día que mi señor el rey salió de Jerusalem, para guardarlos el rey en su corazón;

And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

He said to the king, “Don’t let my lord impute iniquity to me, or remember that which your servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

Pues tu siervo sabe que yo he pecado. Verás, por eso es que he venido aquí hoy como el primero de toda la familia de José en venir a encontrarme con mi amo, el rey."

Porque yo tu siervo conozco haber pecado, y he venido hoy el primero de toda la casa de José, para descender á recibir á mi señor el rey.

For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.

For your servant knows that I have sinned. Therefore behold, I have come today as the first of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.”

Pero Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, le respondió y dijo: "¿No debería Simei ser ejecutado por ésto, porque maldijo al ungido del SEÑOR?"

Y Abisai hijo de Sarvia respondió y dijo: ¿No ha de morir por esto Semei, que maldijo al ungido de Jehová?

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD’s anointed?

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered, “Shouldn’t Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD’s anointed?”

Luego David dijo: "¿Qué tengo que ver con ustedes, hijos de Sarvia, para que hoy deban ser adversarios para mí? ¿Será algún hombre ejecutado hoy en Israel? ¿Pues no sabré yo que hoy soy rey sobre Israel?"

David entonces dijo: ¿Qué tenéis vosotros conmigo, hijos de Sarvia, que me habéis de ser hoy adversarios? ¿ha de morir hoy alguno en Israel? ¿no conozco yo que hoy soy rey sobre Israel?

And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?

David said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should be adversaries to me today? Shall any man be put to death today in Israel? For don’t I know that I am king over Israel today?”

Así que el rey le dijo a Simei: "No morirás." Así el rey se lo prometió con un juramento.

Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.

Luego Mefiboset, hijo de Saúl, descendió a encontrarse con el rey. No vistió sus pies ni recortó su barba ni lavó sus ropas desde el día que el rey se fue hasta el día que regresó a casa en paz.

También Mephi-boseth hijo de Saúl descendió á recibir al rey: no había lavado sus pies, ni había cortado su barba, ni tampoco había lavado sus vestidos, desde el día que el rey salió hasta el día que vino en paz.

And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came again in peace.

Así que, cuando vino de Jerusalén a encontrarse al rey, el rey le dijo a él: "¿Por qué no te fuiste conmigo, Mefiboset?"

And it came to pass, when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mephibosheth?

When he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, the king said to him, “Why didn’t you go with me, Mephibosheth?”

El les respondió: "Mi amo el rey, mi siervo me engañó; pues dije: 'Voy a ensillar un burro para montarlo e irme con el rey pues tu siervo es lisiado.'

Y él dijo: Rey señor mío, mi siervo me ha engañado; pues había tu siervo dicho: Enalbardaré un asno, y subiré en él, é iré al rey; porque tu siervo es cojo.

And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant is lame.

He answered, “My lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said, ‘I will saddle a donkey for myself, that I may ride on it and go with the king,’ because your servant is lame.

Mi siervo Siba me ha difamado ante mi amo el rey. Pero mi amo, el rey, es como un ángel de Dios. Por lo tanto, haz lo que es bueno en tus ojos.

Empero él revolvió á tu siervo delante de mi señor el rey; mas mi señor el rey es como un ángel de Dios: haz pues lo que bien te pareciere.

And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in thine eyes.

He has slandered your servant to my lord the king, but my lord the king is as an angel of God. Therefore do what is good in your eyes.

Pues toda la casa de mi padre eran hombres muertos ante mi amo, el rey, pero tú sentaste a tu siervo junto con los que comen en tu propia mesa. ¿Qué derecho tengo entonces, para seguir rogando más al rey?"

Porque toda la casa de mi padre era digna de muerte delante de mi señor el rey, y tú pusiste á tu siervo entre los convidados de tu mesa. ¿Qué derecho pues tengo aún para quejarme más contra el rey?

For all of my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king?

For all my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king; yet you set your servant among those who ate at your own table. What right therefore have I yet that I should appeal any more to the king?”

Luego el rey le dijo a él: "¿Por qué continuar explicando más? He decidido que Siba y tú se dividirán los campos."

Y el rey le dijo: ¿Para qué hablas más palabras? Yo he determinado que tú y Siba partáis las tierras.

And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.

The king said to him, “Why do you speak any more of your matters? I say, you and Ziba divide the land.”

Así que, Mefiboset le respondió al rey: "Sí, deje que él lo tome todo ya que mi amo el rey ha regresado a salvo a su propia casa."

Y Mephi-boseth dijo al rey: Y aun tómelas él todas, pues que mi señor el rey ha vuelto en paz á su casa.

And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come again in peace unto his own house.

Mephibosheth said to the king, “Yes, let him take all, because my lord the king has come in peace to his own house.”

Luego Barzilai, el galaadita, descendió desde Rogelim para cruzar sobre el Jordán con el rey y lo acompañó sobre el Jordán.

También Barzillai Galaadita descendió de Rogelim, y pasó el Jordán con el rey, para acompañarle de la otra parte del Jordán.

And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.

Ahora Barzilai era un hombre muy viejo de ochenta años de edad. Él había equipado al rey con provisiones, mientras se quedó en Mahanaim, porque el era un hombre muy rico.

Y era Barzillai muy viejo, de ochenta años, el cual había dado provisión al rey cuando estaba en Mahanaim, porque era hombre muy rico.

Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.

El rey le dijo a Barzilai: "Ven conmigo y yo proveeré para ti para que te quedes conmigo en Jerusalén."

Y el rey dijo á Barzillai: Pasa conmigo, y yo te daré de comer conmigo en Jerusalem.

And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.

The king said to Barzillai, “Come over with me, and I will sustain you with me in Jerusalem.”

Barzilai le respondió al rey: "¿Cuántos días más restan en los años de mi vida para que deba yo subir con el rey a Jerusalén?

Mas Barzillai dijo al rey: ¿Cuántos son los días del tiempo de mi vida, para que yo suba con el rey á Jerusalem?

And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?

Barzillai said to the king, “How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

Yo tengo ochenta años de edad. ¿Puedo distinguir entre el bien y el mal? ¿Puede tu siervo probar lo que yo como o bebo? ¿Puedo escuchar la voz de hombres y mujeres cantantes? ¿Por qué entonces tu sirviente debería ser una carga para mi amo el rey?

Yo soy hoy día de edad de ochenta años, que ya no haré diferencia entre lo bueno y lo malo: ¿tomará gusto ahora tu siervo en lo que comiere ó bebiere? ¿oiré más la voz de los cantores y de las cantoras? ¿para qué, pues, sería aún tu siervo molesto á mi señor el rey?

I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

I am eighty years old, today. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear the voice of singing men and singing women any more? Why then should your servant be a burden to my lord the king?

A tu siervo solo le gustaría ir sobre el Jordán con el rey. ¿Por qué el rey debe pagarme con tal recompensa?

Pasará tu siervo un poco el Jordán con el rey: ¿por qué me ha de dar el rey tan grande recompensa?

Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?

Your servant will just go over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward?

Por favor, deja que tu siervo regrese a casa, para que yo pueda morir en mi propia ciudad, al lado de la tumba de mi padre y mi madre. Pero mira, aquí está su siervo Quimam. Que el cruce con mi amo, el rey, y haga por él lo que te parezca bien a ti."

Yo te ruego que dejes volver á tu siervo, y que muera en mi ciudad, junto al sepulcro de mi padre y de mi madre. He aquí tu siervo Chimham; que pase él con mi señor el rey, y hazle lo que bien te pareciere.

Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.

Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But behold, your servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good to you.”

El rey respondió: "Quimam irá conmigo y haré por él lo que te parezca bueno a ti y lo que sea que desees de mí yo haré eso por ti."

Y el rey dijo: Pues pase conmigo Chimham, y yo haré con él como bien te parezca: y todo lo que tú pidieres de mí, yo lo haré.

And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.

The king answered, “Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good to you. Whatever you request of me, that I will do for you.”

Luego toda la gente cruzó el Jordán, y el rey cruzó sobre él, y el rey besó a Barzilai y lo bendijo. Luego Barzilai regresó a su propia casa.

Y todo el pueblo pasó el Jordán: y luego que el rey hubo también pasado, el rey besó á Barzillai, y bendíjolo; y él se volvió á su casa.

And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place.

Así que el rey cruzó a Gilgal y Quimam cruzó con él. Todo el ejército de Judá trajo al rey y también a la mitad del ejército de Israel.

El rey entonces pasó á Gilgal, y con él pasó Chimham; y todo el pueblo de Judá, con la mitad del pueblo de Israel, pasaron al rey.

Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel.

So the king went over to Gilgal, and Chimham went over with him. All the people of Judah brought the king over, and also half the people of Israel.

Pronto todos los hombres de Israel comenzaron a venir al rey y le decían: "¿Por qué nuestros hermanos, los hombres de Judá, te robaron y trajeron al rey y su familia sobre el Jordán y todos los hombres de David con él?"

Y he aquí todos los varones de Israel vinieron al rey, y le dijeron: ¿Por qué los hombres de Judá, nuestros hermanos, te han llevado, y han hecho pasar el Jordán al rey y á su familia, y á todos los varones de David con él?

And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all David’s men with him, over Jordan?

Behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, “Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away, and brought the king and his household, over the Jordan, and all David’s men with him?”

Así que, los hombres de Judá respondieron a los hombres de Israel: "Es porque el rey está más estrechamente relacionado con nosotros. ¿Por qué están ustedes molestos con esto? ¿Hemos comido algo por lo que el rey ha tenido que pagar? ¿Nos ha dado él algún regalo a nosotros?"

Y todos los varones de Judá respondieron á todos los de Israel: Porque el rey es nuestro pariente. Mas ¿por qué os enojáis vosotros de eso? ¿hemos nosotros comido algo del rey? ¿hemos recibido de él algún don?

And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?

All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because the king is a close relative to us. Why then are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king’s cost? Or has he given us any gift?”

Los hombres de Israel le respondieron a los hombres de Judá: "Tenemos diez tribus relacionadas con el rey, así que tenemos aún más derecho a David que ustedes. ¿Por qué ustedes nos desprecian? ¿No fue nuestra propuesta de traer de regreso al rey la primera en ser escuchada?" Pero las palabras de los hombres de Judá eran más duras que las palabras de los hombres de Israel.

Entonces respondieron los varones de Israel, y dijeron á los de Judá: Nosotros tenemos en el rey diez partes, y en el mismo David más que vosotros: ¿por qué pues nos habéis tenido en poco? ¿no hablamos nosotros primero en volver á nuestro rey? Y el razonamiento de los varones de Judá fué más fuerte que el de los varones de Israel.

And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
