DESPUÉS de esto aconteció, que murió el rey de los hijos de Ammón: y reinó en lugar suyo Hanún su hijo.

Da sprach David: "Ich will dem Chanun, des Nachas Sohn, Liebes tun, wie sein Vater mir Liebes hat getan." So schickte David hin, ihn durch seine Diener wegen seines Vaters zu trösten. So kamen Davids Diener ins Ammoniterland.
Y dijo David: Yo haré misericordia con Hanún hijo de Naas, como su padre la hizo conmigo. Y envió David sus siervos á consolarlo por su padre. Mas llegados los siervos de David á la tierra de los hijos de Ammón,
Then said David, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.

Da sprachen die Ammoniterfürsten zu ihrem Herrn Chanun: "Ehrt David nach deiner Ansicht deinen Vater, daß er dir Tröster schickt? Sendet nicht David seine Diener zu dir, die Stadt auszuspähen, auszuforschen und zu erkunden?
Los príncipes de los hijos de Ammón dijeron á Hanún su señor: ¿Te parece que por honrar David á tu padre te ha enviado consoladores? ¿no ha enviado David sus siervos á ti por reconocer é inspeccionar la ciudad, para destruirla?
And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?

So rückten Joab und das Volk bei ihm zum Kampfe gegen die Aramäer vor. Da flohen sie vor ihm.
