1Elisa hatte aber der Frau, deren Sohn er ins Leben zurückgerufen hatte, den Rat gegeben: »Mache dich auf, wandere mit deiner Familie aus und halte dich irgendwo in der Fremde auf; denn der HERR hat eine Hungersnot verhängt, die sieben Jahre lang im Lande herrschen wird.«
2Da machte sich die Frau auf und folgte der Aufforderung des Gottesmannes: sie wanderte mit ihrer Familie aus und hielt sich sieben Jahre lang im Lande der Philister auf.
3Als dann nach Ablauf der sieben Jahre die Frau aus dem Philisterlande zurückgekehrt war, machte sie sich auf den Weg, um den König wegen ihres Hauses und ihrer Felder um Hilfe anzurufen.
4Der König aber besprach sich gerade mit Gehasi, dem Diener des Gottesmannes, und forderte ihn auf, ihm alle die Wundertaten zu erzählen, die Elisa verrichtet habe.
5Während er nun dem Könige eben erzählte, wie Elisa den Toten lebendig gemacht hatte, da erschien die Frau, deren Sohn er ins Leben zurückgerufen hatte, um den König wegen ihres Hauses und ihrer Felder um Hilfe anzurufen. Da sagte Gehasi: »Mein Herr und König, dies ist die Frau und dies ihr Sohn, den Elisa lebendig gemacht hat!«
6Da erkundigte sich der König bei der Frau, und sie mußte ihm alles erzählen. Darauf gab der König ihr einen Kammerherrn mit, dem er auftrug: »Verschaffe ihr alles wieder, was ihr gehört, auch den gesamten Ertrag der Felder von dem Tage ab, an dem sie das Land verlassen hat, bis heute!«
7Einst kam Elisa nach Damaskus, wo Benhadad, der König von Syrien, krank lag. Als man diesem nun mitteilte, daß der Gottesmann dorthin komme,
8befahl der König dem Hasael: »Nimm Geschenke mit dir und gehe dem Gottesmann entgegen und laß Gott den HERRN durch ihn befragen, ob ich von dieser meiner Krankheit genesen werde.«
9Da ging Hasael ihm entgegen und nahm Geschenke an sich, allerlei Kostbarkeiten von Damaskus, eine Last für vierzig Kamele. Als er nun hingekommen und vor ihn getreten war, sagte er: »Dein Sohn Benhadad, der König von Syrien, hat mich zu dir gesandt und läßt fragen, ob er von dieser seiner Krankheit genesen werde.«
10Da antwortete ihm Elisa: »Gehe hin und sage ihm, daß er gewißlich wieder gesund werden würde; aber Gott der HERR hat mir geoffenbart, daß er sterben muß.«
11Dabei starrte der Gottesmann unverwandt vor sich hin und war aufs äußerste entsetzt und brach dann in Tränen aus.
12Als Hasael ihn nun fragte: »Warum weint mein Herr?«, antwortete er: »Weil ich weiß, wieviel Unheil du den Israeliten zufügen wirst: ihre festen Städte wirst du in Brand stecken, ihre jungen Männer mit dem Schwert umbringen, ihre kleinen Kinder zerschmettern und ihren schwangeren Frauen den Leib aufschlitzen.«
13Da erwiderte Hasael: »Was ist denn dein Knecht, der Hund, daß er solche großen Dinge tun sollte?« Elisa entgegnete ihm: »Gott der HERR hat dich mir als König über Syrien geoffenbart.«
14Darauf ging (Hasael) von Elisa weg, und als er zu seinem Herrn kam und dieser ihn fragte: »Was hat Elisa dir gesagt?«, antwortete er: »Er hat mir gesagt, du würdest gewißlich wieder gesund werden.«
15Am folgenden Tage aber nahm er die Bettdecke, tauchte sie in Wasser und breitete sie ihm über das Gesicht, so daß er starb. Hasael aber wurde König an seiner Statt.
16Im fünften Jahre der Regierung Jorams, des Sohnes Ahabs, des Königs von Israel, kam Joram, der Sohn des Königs Josaphat von Juda, zur Regierung.
17Er war zweiunddreißig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und acht Jahre regierte er in Jerusalem.
18Er wandelte auf dem Wege der Könige von Israel, wie es im Hause Ahabs durchweg der Fall war – er hatte sich nämlich mit einer Tochter Ahabs verheiratet –; so tat er, was dem HERRN mißfiel.
19Aber der HERR wollte Juda nicht untergehen lassen um seines Knechtes David willen, weil er ihm zugesagt hatte, daß er ihm allezeit eine Leuchte vor seinem Angesicht verleihen wolle.
20Unter seiner Regierung fielen die Edomiter von der Oberherrschaft Judas ab und setzten einen eigenen König über sich ein.
21Da zog Joram mit all seinen Kriegswagen hinüber nach Zair; doch als er nachts aufgebrochen war, schlugen ihn die Edomiter, die ihn und die Befehlshaber der Wagen umzingelt hatten, das Kriegsvolk aber floh nach Hause.
22So fielen die Edomiter von der Oberherrschaft Judas ab und sind unabhängig geblieben bis auf den heutigen Tag. Damals fiel auch Libna ab, zu derselben Zeit.
23Die übrige Geschichte Jorams aber und alles, was er unternommen hat, das findet sich bekanntlich aufgezeichnet im Buch der Denkwürdigkeiten der Könige von Juda.
24Als Joram sich dann zu seinen Vätern gelegt und man ihn bei seinen Vätern in der Davidsstadt begraben hatte, folgte ihm sein Sohn Ahasja in der Regierung nach.
25Im zwölften Jahre der Regierung Jorams, des Sohnes Ahabs, des Königs von Israel, kam Ahasja, der Sohn des Königs Joram von Juda, zur Regierung.
26Zweiundzwanzig Jahre war Ahasja alt, als er auf den Thron kam, und ein Jahr hat er in Jerusalem regiert; seine Mutter hieß Athalja und war die Enkelin des Königs Omri von Israel.
27Er wandelte auf dem Wege des Hauses Ahabs und tat, was dem HERRN mißfiel, wie das Haus Ahabs, weil er mit dem Hause Ahabs verschwägert war.
28Er zog mit Joram, dem Sohne Ahabs, gegen Hasael, den König von Syrien, zu Felde und kämpfte mit ihm bei Ramoth in Gilead. Als aber die Syrer dort den König Joram verwundet hatten,
29kehrte der König Joram zurück, um sich in Jesreel von den Wunden heilen zu lassen, die ihm die Syrer bei Rama beigebracht hatten, als er gegen den König Hasael von Syrien Krieg führte. Darauf kam Ahasja, der Sohn Jorams, der König von Juda, um Joram, den Sohn Ahabs, in Jesreel zu besuchen, weil er dort krank lag.

1Y HABLÓ Eliseo á aquella mujer á cuyo hijo había hecho vivir, diciendo: Levántate, vete tú y toda tu casa á vivir donde pudieres; porque Jehová ha llamado el hambre, la cual vendrá también sobre la tierra siete años.
2Entonces la mujer se levantó, é hizo como el varón de Dios le dijo: y partióse ella con su familia, y vivió en tierra de los Filisteos siete años.
3Y como fueron pasados los siete años, la mujer volvió de la tierra de los Filisteos: después salió para clamar al rey por su casa, y por sus tierras.
4Y había el rey hablado con Giezi, criado del varón de Dios, diciéndole: Ruégote que me cuentes todas las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo.
5Y contando él al rey cómo había hecho vivir á un muerto, he aquí la mujer, á cuyo hijo había hecho vivir, que clamaba al rey por su casa y por sus tierras. Entonces dijo Giezi: Rey señor mío, esta es la mujer, y este es su hijo, al cual Eliseo hizo vivir.
6Y preguntando el rey á la mujer, ella se lo contó. Entonces el rey le dió un eunuco, diciéndole: Hazle volver todas las cosas que eran suyas, y todos los frutos de las tierras desde el día que dejó el país hasta ahora.
7Eliseo se fué luego á Damasco, y Ben-adad rey de Siria estaba enfermo, al cual dieron aviso, diciendo: El varón de Dios ha venido aquí.
8Y el rey dijo á Hazael: Toma en tu mano un presente, y ve á recibir al varón de Dios, y consulta por él á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Tengo de sanar de esta enfermedad?
9Tomó pues Hazael en su mano un presente de todos los bienes de Damasco, cuarenta camellos cargados, y saliólo á recibir: y llegó, y púsose delante de él, y dijo: Tu hijo Ben-adad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado á ti, diciendo: ¿Tengo de sanar de esta enfermedad?
10Y Eliseo le dijo: Ve, dile: Seguramente vivirás. Empero Jehová me ha mostrado que él ha de morir ciertamente.
11Y el varón de Dios le volvió el rostro afirmadamente, y estúvose así una gran pieza; y lloró el varón de Dios.
12Entonces díjole Hazael: ¿Por qué llora mi señor? Y él respondió: Porque sé el mal que has de hacer á los hijos de Israel: á sus fortalezas pegarás fuego, y á sus mancebos matarás á cuchillo, y estrellarás á sus niños, y abrirás á sus preñadas.
13Y Hazael dijo: ¿Por qué? ¿es tu siervo perro, que hará esta gran cosa? Y respondió Eliseo: Jehová me ha mostrado que tú has de ser rey de Siria.
14Y él se partió de Eliseo, y vino á su señor, el cual le dijo: ¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo? Y él respondió: Díjome que seguramente vivirás.
15El día siguiente tomó un paño basto, y metiólo en agua, y tendiólo sobre el rostro de Ben-adad, y murió: y reinó Hazael en su lugar.
16En el quinto año de Joram hijo de Achâb rey de Israel, y siendo Josaphat rey de Judá, comenzó á reinar Joram hijo de Josaphat rey de Judá.
17De treinta y dos años era cuando comenzó á reinar, y ocho años reinó en Jerusalem.
18Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Achâb, porque una hija de Achâb fué su mujer; é hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová.
19Con todo eso, Jehová no quiso cortar á Judá, por amor de David su siervo, como le había prometido darle lámpara de sus hijos perpetuamente.
20En su tiempo se rebeló Edom de debajo de la mano de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.
21Joram por tanto pasó á Seir, y todos sus carros con él: y levantándose de noche hirió á los Idumeos, los cuales le habían cercado, y á los capitanes de los carros: y el pueblo huyó á sus estancias.
22Sustrájose no obstante Edom de bajo la mano de Judá, hasta hoy. Rebelóse además Libna en el mismo tiempo.
23Lo demás de los hechos de Joram, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
24Y durmió Joram con sus padres, y fué sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David: y reinó en lugar suyo Ochôzías, su hijo.
25En el año doce de Joram hijo de Achâb rey de Israel, comenzó á reinar Ochôzías hijo de Joram rey de Judá.
26De veintidós años era Ochôzías cuando comenzó á reinar, y reinó un año en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Athalía hija de Omri rey de Israel.
27Y anduvo en el camino de la casa de Achâb, é hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, como la casa de Achâb: porque era yerno de la casa de Achâb.
28Y fué á la guerra con Joram hijo de Achâb á Ramoth de Galaad, contra Hazael rey de Siria; y los Siros hirieron á Joram.
29Y el rey Joram se volvió á Jezreel, para curarse de las heridas que los Siros le hicieron delante de Ramoth, cuando peleó contra Hazael rey de Siria. Y descendió Ochôzías hijo de Joram rey de Judá, á visitar á Joram hijo de Achâb en Jezreel, porque estaba enfermo.

1Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.
2And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3And it came to pass at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.
4And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.
5And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.
6And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.
7And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.
8And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?
9So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?
10And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.
11And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.
12And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.
13And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.
14So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.
15And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
16And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
17Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
18And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.
19Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.
20In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
21So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.
22Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.
23And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
24And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
25In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.
26Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.
27And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.
28And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth-gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.
29And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

1Now Elisha had spoken to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise, and go, you and your household, and stay for a while wherever you can; for the LORD has called for a famine. It will also come on the land for seven years.”
2The woman arose, and did according to the man of God’s word. She went with her household, and lived in the land of the Philistines for seven years.
3At the end of seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines. Then she went out to beg the king for her house and for her land.
4Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”
5As he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life begged the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.”

11He settled his gaze steadfastly on him, until he was ashamed. Then the man of God wept.
12Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash their little ones in pieces, and rip up their pregnant women.”
13Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he could do this great thing?” Elisha answered, “The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”
14Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” He answered, “He told me that you would surely recover.”
15On the next day, he took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it on the king’s face, so that he died. Then Hazael reigned in his place.
