1Naamán, general de los ejércitos del rey de Siria, era un hombre de gran consideración y estima para con su amo; pues por su medio había el Señor salvado la Siria; y era un varón forzado y rico, pero leproso.
2Habían salido de Siria guerrillas, y cautivado en tierra de Israel a una doncellita, que entró después a servir a la mujer de Naamán,
3la cual dijo a su señora: ¡Ah si mi amo fuera a verse con el profeta que está en Samaria! Sin duda se curaría de la lepra.
4Oído que hubo esto Naamán, entró a ver a su señor, y le dio parte, diciendo: Esto ha dicho una doncella de tierra de Israel.
5El rey de Siria le respondió: Anda en hora buena; que yo escribiré al rey de Israel. Partió, pues, llevando consigo diez talentos de plata, con seis mil monedas de oro y diez mudas de vestidos;
6y entregó la carta al rey de Israel, escrita en estos términos: Por esta carta que recibirás sabrás que te he enviado a Naamán, mi criado, para que lo cures de su lepra.
7Leído que hubo la carta el rey de Israel, rasgó sus vestidos, y dijo: ¿Soy yo por ventura Dios, que pueda quitar y dar la vida, para que éste me envíe a decir que yo cure a un hombre de la lepra? Reparad, y veréis cómo anda buscando pretextos contra mí.
8Lo que habiendo llegado a noticia de Eliseo, varón de Dios, esto es, que había el rey de Israel rasgado sus vestidos, envió a decirle: ¿Por qué has rasgado tus vestidos? Que venga ese hombre a mí, y sabrá que hay profeta en Israel.
9Llegó, pues, Naamán con sus caballos y carrozas, y se paró a la puerta de la casa de Eliseo.
10Y le envió a decir Eliseo por tercera persona: Anda, y lávate siete veces en el Jordán, y tu carne recobrará la sanidad, y quedarás limpio.
11Indignado Naamán, se retiraba diciendo: Yo pensaba que él habría salido luego a recibirme, y que, puesto en pie, invocaría el nombre del Señor Dios suyo, y tocaría con su mano el lugar de la lepra, y me curaría.
12Pues, ¿no son mejores el Abana y el Farfar, ríos de Damasco, que todas las aguas de Israel, para lavarme en ellos y limpiarme? Como volviese, pues, las espaldas, y se retirase enojado,
13se llegaron a él sus criados, y le dijeron: Padre, aun cuando el profeta te hubiese ordenado una cosa dificultosa, claro está que deberías hacerla; ¿pues cuánto más ahora que te ha dicho: Lávate, y quedarás limpio?
14Fue, pues, y se lavó siete veces en el Jordán conforme a la orden del varón de Dios, y se volvió su carne como la carne de un niño tierno, y quedó limpio.
15Volviendo en seguida con toda su comitiva al varón de Dios, se presentó delante de él, diciendo: Verdaderamente conozco que no hay otro Dios en el universo, sino sólo el de Israel. Te ruego, pues, que admitas este presente de tu siervo.
16Mas él respondió: Vive el Señor Dios, ante cuya presencia estoy, que no lo recibiré. Y por más instancias que le hizo, de ningún modo quiso condescender.
17Al fin dijo Naamán: Sea como tú quieres; pero te suplico que me permitas a mí, siervo tuyo, el llevarme la porción de tierra que cargan dos mulos; porque ya no sacrificará tu siervo de aquí adelante holocaustos ni víctimas a dioses ajenos, sino sólo al Señor.
18Mas una cosa hay solamente por la que has de rogar al Señor a favor de tu siervo, y es que cuando entrare mi amo en el templo de Remmón para adorarlo, apoyándose sobre mi mano, si yo me inclino en el templo de Remmón, para adorarlo, para sostenerlo al tiempo de hacer él su adoración en el mismo lugar, el Señor me perdone a mí, siervo tuyo, este ademán.
19Le respondió Eliseo: Vete en paz. Partió, pues, Naamán; y era entonces la mejor estación del año.
20Giezi, sirviente del varón de Dios, dijo: Mi amo ha andado muy comedido con este Naamán de Siria, no queriendo aceptar nada de lo que le ha traído. Vive Dios que he de ir corriendo a alcanzarlo y sacar de él alguna cosa.
21Echó, pues, a correr en seguimiento de Naamán; el cual viéndolo venir corriendo hacia sí, saltó luego del coche a su encuentro, y dijo: ¿Va todo bien?
22Bien, contestó Giezi. Pero mi amo me envía a decirte: Acaban de llegar dos jóvenes de la montaña de Efraín, de los hijos de los profetas; dame para ellos un talento de plata y dos mudas de vestidos.
23Dijo Naamán: Mejor es que tomes dos talentos; y lo obligó a tomarlos; y poniendo y atando en dos talegos los dos talentos de plata y las dos mudas de vestidos, hizo que dos de sus siervos cargaran con ellos, y que los llevasen yendo delante de Giezi.
24Llegado que hubo, ya al anochecer, los tomó de sus dos manos, y los guardó en su casa, y despachó los hombres, los cuales se marcharon.
25Entró después, y se puso delante de su amo Eliseo, el cual le preguntó: ¿De dónde vienes, Giezi? Y él respondió: No ha ido tu siervo a ninguna parte.
26Mas Eliseo replicó: Pues, ¿no estaba yo presente en espíritu cuando aquel hombre saltó de su coche para ir a tu encuentro? Ahora bien, tú has recibido dinero, y has recibido ropas para comprar olivares, y viñas, y ovejas, y bueyes, y esclavos y esclavas.
27Pero también la lepra de Naamán se te pegará a ti y a tu descendencia para siempre. En efecto, salió Giezi de su presencia cubierto de lepra blanca como nieve.

1NAAMÁN, general del ejército del rey de Siria, era gran varón delante de su señor, y en alta estima, porque por medio de él había dado Jehová salvamento á la Siria. Era este hombre valeroso en extremo, pero leproso.
2Y de Siria habían salido cuadrillas, y habían llevado cautiva de la tierra de Israel una muchacha; la cual sirviendo á la mujer de Naamán,
3Dijo á su señora: Si rogase mi señor al profeta que está en Samaria, él lo sanaría de su lepra.
4Y entrando Naamán á su señor, declaróselo, diciendo: Así y así ha dicho una muchacha que es de la tierra de Israel.
5Y díjole el rey de Siria: Anda, ve, y yo enviaré letras al rey de Israel. Partió pues él, llevando consigo diez talentos de plata, y seis mil piezas de oro, y diez mudas de vestidos.
6Tomó también letras para el rey de Israel, que decían así: Luego en llegando á ti estas letras, sabe por ellas que yo envío á ti mi siervo Naamán, para que lo sanes de su lepra.
7Y luego que el rey de Israel leyó las cartas, rasgó sus vestidos, y dijo: ¿Soy yo Dios, que mate y dé vida, para que éste envíe á mí á que sane un hombre de su lepra? Considerad ahora, y ved cómo busca ocasión contra mí.
8Y como Eliseo, varón de Dios oyó que el rey de Israel había rasgado sus vestidos, envió á decir al rey: ¿Por qué has rasgado tus vestidos? Venga ahora á mí, y sabrá que hay profeta en Israel.
9Y vino Naamán con sus caballos y con su carro, y paróse á las puertas de la casa de Eliseo.
10Entonces Eliseo le envió un mensajero, diciendo: Ve, y lávate siete veces en el Jordán, y tu carne se te restaurará, y serás limpio.
11Y Naamán se fué enojado, diciendo: He aquí yo decía para mí: Saldrá él luego, y estando en pie invocará el nombre de Jehová su Dios, y alzará su mano, y tocará el lugar, y sanará la lepra.
12Abana y Pharphar, ríos de Damasco, ¿no son mejores que todas las aguas de Israel? Si me lavare en ellos, ¿no seré también limpio? Y volvióse, y fuése enojado.
13Mas sus criados se llegaron á él, y habláronle, diciendo: Padre mío, si el profeta te mandara alguna gran cosa, ¿no la hicieras? ¿cuánto más, diciéndote: Lávate, y serás limpio?
14El entonces descendió, y zambullóse siete veces en el Jordán, conforme á la palabra del varón de Dios: y su carne se volvió como la carne de un niño, y fué limpio.
15Y volvió al varón de Dios, él y toda su compañía, y púsose delante de él, y dijo: He aquí ahora conozco que no hay Dios en toda la tierra, sino en Israel. Ruégote que recibas algún presente de tu siervo.
16Mas él dijo: Vive Jehová, delante del cual estoy, que no lo tomaré. E importunándole que tomase, él nunca quiso.
17Entonces Naamán dijo: Ruégote pues, ¿no se dará á tu siervo una carga de un par de acémilas de aquesta tierra? porque de aquí adelante tu siervo no sacrificará holocausto ni sacrificio á otros dioses, sino á Jehová.
18En esto perdone Jehová á tu siervo: que cuando mi señor entrare en el templo de Rimmón, y para adorar en él se apoyare sobre mi mano, si yo también me inclinare en el templo de Rimmón, si en el templo de Rimmón me inclino, Jehová perdone en esto á tu siervo.
19Y él le dijo: Vete en paz. Partióse pues de él, y caminó como el espacio de una milla.
20Entonces Giezi, criado de Eliseo el varón de Dios, dijo entre sí: He aquí mi señor estorbó á este Siro Naamán, no tomando de su mano las cosas que había traído. Vive Jehová, que correré yo tras él, y tomaré de él alguna cosa.
21Y siguió Giezi á Naamán: y como le vió Naamán que venía corriendo tras él, apeóse del carro para recibirle, y dijo: ¿Va bien?
22Y él dijo: Bien. Mi señor me envía á decir: He aquí vinieron á mí en esta hora del monte de Ephraim dos mancebos de los hijos de los profetas: ruégote que les des un talento de plata, y sendas mudas de vestidos.
23Y Naamán dijo: Ruégote que tomes dos talentos. Y él le constriñó, y ató dos talentos de plata en dos sacos, y dos mudas de vestidos, y púsolo á cuestas á dos de sus criados, que lo llevasen delante de él.
24Y llegado que hubo á un lugar secreto, él lo tomó de mano de ellos, y guardólo en casa: luego mandó á los hombres que se fuesen.
25Y él entró, y púsose delante de su señor. Y Eliseo le dijo: ¿De dónde vienes, Giezi? Y él dijo: Tu siervo no ha ido á ninguna parte.
26El entonces le dijo: ¿No fué también mi corazón, cuando el hombre volvió de su carro á recibirte? ¿es tiempo de tomar plata, y de tomar vestidos, olivares, viñas, ovejas, bueyes, siervos y siervas?
27La lepra de Naamán se te pegará á ti, y á tu simiente para siempre. Y salió de delante de él leproso, blanco como la nieve.
King James Version
1Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
2And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife.
3And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
4And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.
5And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
6And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.
7And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
8And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.
9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
11But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
13And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
14Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
15And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.
16But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.
17And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules’ burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.
18In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.
19And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.
20But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.
21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?
22And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.
23And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.
24And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.
25But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.
26And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?
27The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

1Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria; he was also a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.
2The Syrians had gone out in bands, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little girl, and she waited on Naaman’s wife.
3She said to her mistress, “I wish that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would heal him of his leprosy.”
4Someone went in and told his lord, saying, “The girl who is from the land of Israel said this.”
5The king of Syria said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” He departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of clothing.
6He brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, “Now when this letter has come to you, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy.”
7When the king of Israel had read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends to me to heal a man of his leprosy? But please consider and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.”
8It was so, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.”
9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariots, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to you, and you shall be clean.”
11But Naaman was angry, and went away and said, “Behold, I thought, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.’
12Aren’t Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.
13His servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had asked you do some great thing, wouldn’t you have done it? How much rather then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?”
14Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
15He returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him; and he said, “See now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel. Now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.”
16But he said, “As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none.” He urged him to take it; but he refused.
17Naaman said, “If not, then, please let two mules’ load of earth be given to your servant; for your servant will from now on offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice to other gods, but to the LORD.
18In this thing may the LORD pardon your servant: when my master goes into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon. When I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, may the LORD pardon your servant in this thing.”
19He said to him, “Go in peace.” So he departed from him a little way.
20But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, “Behold, my master has spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought. As the LORD lives, I will run after him, and take something from him.”
21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. When Naaman saw one running after him, he came down from the chariot to meet him, and said, “Is all well?”
22He said, “All is well. My master has sent me, saying, ‘Behold, even now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothing.’”
23Naaman said, “Be pleased to take two talents.” He urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of clothing, and laid them on two of his servants; and they carried them before him.
24When he came to the hill, he took them from their hand, and stored them in the house. Then he let the men go, and they departed.
25But he went in, and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, “Where did you come from, Gehazi?” He said, “Your servant went nowhere.”
26He said to him, “Didn’t my heart go with you when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves and vineyards, and sheep and cattle, and male servants and female servants?
27Therefore the leprosy of Naaman will cling to you and to your offspring forever.” He went out from his presence a leper, as white as snow.
