1In jener Zeit war Ezechias todkrank gewesen. Da besuchte ihn der Prophet Isaias, des Amos Sohn, und sprach zu ihm: "So spricht der Herr: 'Bestelle dein Haus! Denn sterben mußt du und wirst nicht genesen.'"
2Da wandte sich Ezechias mit seinem Antlitz zur Wand und betete zum Herrn.
3Er sprach: "Ach Herr! Gedenke doch, daß ich vor Dir treu und mit ungeteiltem Herzen wandelte und daß ich tat, was Dir gefiel!" Dann brach Ezechias in lautes Weinen aus.
4Aber noch war Isaias nicht aus dem mittleren Vorhof, da erging das Wort des Herrn an ihn:
5"Kehre um und künde Ezechias, dem Fürsten meines Volkes: 'So spricht der Herr, des David, deines Ahnen, Gott: Ich habe dein Gebet gehört und deine Tränen angesehen. So will ich dich denn heilen. Am dritten Tage kannst du schon ins Haus des Herrn gehen.
6Ich füge deinen Lebenstagen fünfzehn Jahre noch hinzu und rette dich aus des Assyrerkönigs Hand, dich und die Stadt. Ich schirme diese Stadt um meinetwillen und wegen meines Dieners David.'"
7Isaias sprach: "Holt ein Feigenpflaster!" Sie holten es und legten es auf das Geschwür. Da genas er.
8Ezechias aber sagte zu Isaias: "Was ist das Zeichen, daß mich der Herr heilen wird und daß ich am dritten Tage in das Haus des Herrn gehen kann?"
9Isaias sprach: "Dies sei dir das Zeichen vom Herrn, daß der Herr tut, was er verspricht: 'Soll der Schatten zehn Stufen vorrücken oder zehn Stufen zurückgehen?"
10Ezechias sprach: "Dem Schatten ist es ein Leichtes, zehn Stufen abwärts zu gehen. Nein! Der Schatten soll um zehn Stufen zurückkehren!"
11Da rief der Prophet Isaias zum Herrn, und er ließ den Schatten um zehn Stufen zurückgehen an den Stufen des Achaz, die er schon hinabgerückt war.
12Zu jener Zeit sandte Merodach Baladan, Baladans Sohn, der König von Babel, ein Schreiben mit Geschenken an Ezechias. Denn er hatte gehört, daß Ezechias erkrankt sei.
13Ezechias freute sich darüber und zeigte ihnen sein ganzes Schatzhaus, das Silber und Gold, die Spezereien, das Feinöl und sein ganzes Zeughaus, überhaupt alles, was sich in seinen Schatzkammern fand. Nichts war in seinem Haus und in seiner Reichsverwaltung, was ihnen Ezechias nicht gezeigt hätte.
14Da kam der Prophet Isaias zum König Ezechias und sprach zu ihm: "Was haben die Männer gesagt? Woher kommen sie zu dir?" Ezechias sagte: "Aus fernem Lande kommen sie zu mir, aus Babel."
15Er fragte: "Was haben sie in deinem Hause gesehen?" Ezechias sprach: "Alles haben sie in meinem Hause gesehen. Nichts ist, was ich ihnen in meinen Schatzkammern nicht gezeigt hätte."
16Da sprach Isaias zu Ezechias: "Vernimm das Wort des Herrn!
17Tage kommen, wo alles, was in deinem Hause ist, was deine Väter bis auf diesen Tag aufgespeichert, nach Babel gebracht wird. Nichts bleibt zurück.' So spricht der Herr:
18'Auch von deinen Söhnen, die dir entsprossen und die du zeugst, nimmt man einige, daß sie im Palaste des Babelkönigs Kämmerlinge werden.'"
19Da sprach Ezechias zu Isaias: "Heilsam ist das Herrnwort, das du kündest." Dann sprach er: "Sollte es nicht so sein, wenn Friede und Treue herrschen werden, solange ich lebe?"
20Ist nicht der Rest der Geschichte des Ezechias und alle seine Tapferkeit, und wie er den Teich und die Wasserleitung hergestellt und das Wasser in die Stadt geleitet hat, im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Juda aufgezeichnet?
21Als sich Ezechias zu seinen Vätern legte, wurde sein Sohn Manasse an seiner Statt König.

1EN aquellos días cayó Ezechîas enfermo de muerte, y vino á él Isaías profeta hijo de Amós, y díjole: Jehová dice así: Dispón de tu casa, porque has de morir, y no vivirás.
2Entonces volvió él su rostro á la pared, y oró á Jehová, y dijo:
3Ruégote, oh Jehová, ruégote hagas memoria de que he andado delante de ti en verdad é íntegro corazón, y que he hecho las cosas que te agradan. Y lloró Ezechîas con gran lloro.
4Y antes que Isaías saliese hasta la mitad del patio, fué palabra de Jehová á Isaías, diciendo:
5Vuelve, y di á Ezechîas, príncipe de mi pueblo: Así dice Jehová, el Dios de David tu padre: Yo he oído tu oración, y he visto tus lágrimas: he aquí yo te sano; al tercer día subirás á la casa de Jehová.
6Y añadiré á tus días quince años, y te libraré á ti y á esta ciudad de mano del rey de Asiria; y ampararé esta ciudad por amor de mí, y por amor de David mi siervo.
7Y dijo Isaías: Tomad masa de higos. Y tomándola, pusieron sobre la llaga, y sanó.
8Y Ezechîas había dicho á Isaías: ¿Qué señal tendré de que Jehová me sanará, y que subiré á la casa de Jehová al tercer día?
9Y respondió Isaías: Esta señal tendrás de Jehová, de que hará Jehová esto que ha dicho: ¿Avanzará la sombra diez grados, ó retrocederá diez grados?
10Y Ezechîas respondió: Fácil cosa es que la sombra decline diez grados: pero, que la sombra vuelva atrás diez grados.
11Entonces el profeta Isaías clamó á Jehová; é hizo volver la sombra por los grados que había descendido en el reloj de Achâz, diez grados atrás.
12En aquel tiempo Berodach-baladán hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia, envió letras y presentes á Ezechîas, porque había oído que Ezechîas había caído enfermo.
13Y Ezechîas los oyó, y mostróles toda la casa de las cosas preciosas, plata, oro, y especiería, y preciosos ungüentos; y la casa de sus armas, y todo lo que había en sus tesoros: ninguna cosa quedó que Ezechîas no les mostrase, así en su casa como en todo su señorío.
14Entonces el profeta Isaías vino al rey Ezechîas, y díjole: ¿Qué dijeron aquellos varones, y de dónde vinieron á ti? Y Ezechîas le respondió: De lejanas tierras han venido, de Babilonia.
15Y él le volvió á decir: ¿Qué vieron en tu casa? Y Ezechîas respondió: Vieron todo lo que había en mi casa; nada quedó en mis tesoros que no les mostrase.
16Entonces Isaías dijo á Ezechîas: Oye palabra de Jehová:
17He aquí vienen días, en que todo lo que está en tu casa, y todo lo que tus padres han atesorado hasta hoy, será llevado á Babilonia, sin quedar nada, dijo Jehová.
18Y de tus hijos que saldrán de ti, que habrás engendrado, tomarán; y serán eunucos en el palacio del rey de Babilonia.
19Entonces Ezechîas dijo á Isaías: La palabra de Jehová que has hablado, es buena. Después dijo: ¿Mas no habrá paz y verdad en mis días?
20Lo demás de los hechos de Ezechîas, y todo su vigor, y cómo hizo el estanque, y el conducto, y metió las aguas en la ciudad, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
21Y durmió Ezechîas con sus padres, y reinó en su lugar Manasés su hijo.

1In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
2Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
3I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
4And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
5Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
6And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
7And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
8And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?
9And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
10And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
11And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.
12At that time Berodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
13And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
14Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
15And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
16And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
17Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
18And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
19Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?
20And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
21And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

1In those days Hezekiah was sick and dying. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Set your house in order; for you will die, and not live.’”
2Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying,
3“Remember now, LORD, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4Before Isaiah had gone out into the middle part of the city, the LORD’s word came to him, saying,
5“Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘The LORD, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to the LORD’s house.
6I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.”’”
7Isaiah said, “Take a cake of figs.” They took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
8Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I will go up to the LORD’s house the third day?”
9Isaiah said, “This will be the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has spoken: should the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?”
10Hezekiah answered, “It is a light thing for the shadow to go forward ten steps. No, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.”
11Isaiah the prophet cried to the LORD; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.
12At that time Berodach Baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
13Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all the storehouse of his precious things—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, or in all his dominion, that Hezekiah didn’t show them.
14Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? From where did they come to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, even from Babylon.”
15He said, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.”
16Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the LORD’s word.
17‘Behold, the days come that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, will be carried to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the LORD.
18‘They will take away some of your sons who will issue from you, whom you will father; and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”
