1Hiskia wurde im Alter von fünfundzwanzig Jahren König und regierte neunundzwanzig Jahre in Jerusalem; seine Mutter hieß Abija und war eine Tochter Sacharjas.
2Er tat, was dem HERRN wohlgefiel, ganz wie sein Ahnherr David getan hatte.
3Gleich im ersten Monat des ersten Jahres seiner Regierung öffnete er die Tore des Tempels des HERRN und setzte sie wieder instand.
4Sodann ließ er die Priester und die Leviten kommen, versammelte sie auf dem freien Platz gegen Osten
5und hielt folgende Ansprache an sie: »Hört mich an, ihr Nachkommen Levis! Heiligt euch jetzt und heiligt auch das Haus des HERRN, des Gottes eurer Väter, indem ihr den Schmutz (des Götzendienstes) aus dem Heiligtum wegschafft!
6Denn unsere Väter haben treulos gehandelt und haben getan, was dem HERRN, unserm Gott, mißfällt, indem sie von ihm abgefallen sind und ihre Blicke von der Wohnstätte des HERRN abgewandt und (ihr) den Rücken zugekehrt haben.
7Sie haben sogar die Türen der Vorhalle geschlossen und die Lampen ausgelöscht, haben kein Räucherwerk mehr verbrannt und dem Gott Israels kein Brandopfer mehr im Heiligtum dargebracht.
8Daher ist auch der Zorn des HERRN über Juda und Jerusalem hereingebrochen, und er hat sie zu einem abschreckenden Beispiel, zu einem Gegenstand des Entsetzens und der höchsten Verachtung gemacht, wie ihr es mit eigenen Augen seht.
9Ihr wißt ja: unsere Väter sind eben deswegen durch das Schwert gefallen, und unsere Söhne und unsere Töchter und Frauen befinden sich in der Gefangenschaft.
10Doch jetzt bin ich entschlossen, einen Bund mit dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, zu schließen, damit die Glut seines Zornes sich von uns abwendet.
11So zeigt euch nun nicht lässig, meine Söhne! Denn euch hat der HERR dazu ausersehen, daß ihr vor ihm stehen sollt, um seinen Dienst zu verrichten; seine Diener sollt ihr sein und ihm Schlacht- und Rauchopfer darbringen.«
12Da machten sich denn die Leviten ans Werk, nämlich Mahath, der Sohn Amasais, und Joel, der Sohn Asarjas, von den Nachkommen der Kahathiten; und von den Nachkommen Meraris: Kis, der Sohn Abdis, und Asarja, der Sohn Jehallelels; und von den Gersoniten: Joah, der Sohn Simmas, und Eden, der Sohn Joahs;
13und von den Nachkommen Elizaphans: Simri und Jegiel; und von den Nachkommen Asaphs: Sacharja und Matthanja;
14und von den Nachkommen Hemans: Jehiel und Simei; und von den Nachkommen Jeduthuns: Semaja und Ussiel.
15Diese versammelten ihre Stammesgenossen, und nachdem sie sich geheiligt hatten, machten sie sich nach dem Befehl des Königs daran, den Tempel des HERRN nach den Weisungen des HERRN zu reinigen.
16Die Priester begaben sich also in das Innere des Tempels des HERRN, um es zu reinigen, und schafften alles Unreine, das sie im Tempel vorfanden, in den Vorhof am Hause des HERRN hinaus, wo die Leviten es in Empfang nahmen, um es an den Bach Kidron hinauszubringen.
17Am ersten Tage des ersten Monats fingen sie mit der Reinigung an, und am achten Tage des Monats waren sie bis an die Vorhalle des Tempels gekommen; acht Tage verwandten sie dann noch darauf, den Tempel in heiligen Zustand zu setzen; und am sechzehnten Tage des ersten Monats waren sie fertig.
18Da begaben sie sich in den Palast des Königs Hiskia und meldeten: »Wir haben das ganze Haus des HERRN gereinigt, dazu auch den Brandopferaltar mit all seinen Geräten und den Schaubrottisch mit all seinen Geräten;
19auch alle Geräte, die der König Ahas während seiner Regierung infolge seines Abfalls entweiht hat, haben wir wieder hergerichtet und geheiligt: sie stehen jetzt vor dem Altar des HERRN!«
20Da ließ der König Hiskia am andern Morgen früh die Stadtobersten zusammenkommen und ging zum Tempel des HERRN hinauf.
21Sie ließen dann sieben junge Stiere, sieben Widder, sieben Schafe und sieben Ziegenböcke zum Sündopfer für das Königshaus, für das Heiligtum und für Juda herbeibringen, und er befahl den Nachkommen Aarons, den Priestern, sie auf dem Altar des HERRN zu opfern.
22Da schlachteten sie die Rinder, und die Priester fingen das Blut auf und sprengten es an den Altar; sodann schlachteten sie die Widder und sprengten das Blut an den Altar; alsdann schlachteten sie die Schafe und sprengten das Blut an den Altar.
23Schließlich brachten sie die Böcke zum Sündopfer vor den König und vor die versammelte Volksgemeinde, und nachdem diese ihre Hände fest auf sie gelegt hatten,
24schlachteten die Priester sie und taten ihr Blut als Sündopfer an den Altar, um Sühne für ganz Israel zu erwirken; denn für ganz Israel hatte der König das Brandopfer und das Sündopfer angeordnet.
25Dabei hatte er die Leviten am Tempelhause des HERRN mit Zimbeln, Harfen und Zithern Aufstellung nehmen lassen, wie David und der königliche Seher Gad und der Prophet Nathan es angeordnet hatten; denn vom HERRN war die Anordnung ausgegangen durch den Mund seiner Propheten.
26So hatten sich also die Leviten mit den Musikinstrumenten Davids und die Priester mit den Trompeten aufgestellt.
27Da befahl Hiskia, das Brandopfer auf dem Altar darzubringen; und sobald das Brandopfer begann, fing auch der Gesang zu Ehren des HERRN an, und die Trompeten setzten ein, und zwar unter Begleitung der Instrumente Davids, des Königs von Israel.
28Die ganze Versammlung aber warf sich nieder, während die Lieder erklangen und die Trompeten schmetterten; das alles dauerte, bis das Brandopfer vollendet war.
29Als man aber mit dem Opfer zu Ende war, knieten der König und alle, die bei ihm anwesend waren, zum Gebet nieder.
30Hierauf geboten der König Hiskia und die Fürsten den Leviten, zu Ehren des HERRN den Lobgesang anzustimmen mit den Worten Davids und des Sehers Asaph. Da trugen sie denn das Loblied mit Freuden vor, verneigten sich und warfen sich nieder.
31Hierauf nahm Hiskia das Wort und sagte: »So habt ihr euch denn jetzt dem HERRN geweiht: tretet nun herzu und bringt Schlacht- und Dankopfer zum Tempel des HERRN!« Da brachten die Versammelten Schlacht- und Dankopfer dar, und jeder, der sich dazu getrieben fühlte, brachte Brandopfer.
32Die Zahl der Brandopfer, welche die Versammelten darbrachten, betrug 70 Rinder, 100 Widder, 200 Schafe, diese alle als Brandopfer für den HERRN;
33außerdem weihte man als Heilsopfer 600 Rinder und 3000 Stück Kleinvieh.
34Weil nun die Priester zu wenige waren, so daß sie nicht allen Brandopfern die Haut abzuziehen vermochten, halfen ihnen ihre Stammesgenossen, die Leviten, bis die Arbeit zu Ende gebracht war und bis die Priester sich geheiligt hatten; die Leviten waren nämlich mit größerem Eifer darauf bedacht gewesen, sich zu heiligen, als die Priester.
35Auch Brandopfer waren in Menge zu besorgen nebst den Fettstücken der Heilsopfer und nebst den zu den Brandopfern gehörenden Trankopfern. So war denn der Dienst am Tempel des HERRN wiederhergestellt;
36Hiskia aber und das ganze Volk freuten sich über das Glück, das der HERR dem Volke hatte zuteil werden lassen; denn die Sache war außerordentlich schnell vor sich gegangen.

1Y EZECHÎAS comenzó á reinar siendo de veinticinco años, y reinó veintinueve años en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Abía, hija de Zachârías.
2E hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová, conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho David su padre.
3En el primer año de su reinado, en el mes primero, abrió las puertas de la casa de Jehová, y las reparó.
4E hizo venir los sacerdotes y Levitas, y juntólos en la plaza oriental.
5Y díjoles: Oidme, Levitas, y santificaos ahora, y santificaréis la casa de Jehová el Dios de vuestros padres, y sacaréis del santuario la inmundicia.
6Porque nuestros padres se han rebelado, y han hecho lo malo en ojos de Jehová nuestro Dios; que le dejaron, y apartaron sus ojos del tabernáculo de Jehová, y le volvieron las espaldas.
7Y aun cerraron las puertas del pórtico, y apagaron las lámparas; no quemaron perfume, ni sacrificaron holocausto en el santuario al Dios de Israel.
8Por tanto la ira de Jehová ha venido sobre Judá y Jerusalem, y los ha entregado á turbación, y á execración y escarnio, como veis vosotros con vuestros ojos.
9Y he aquí nuestros padres han caído á cuchillo, nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas y nuestras mujeres son cautivas por esto.
10Ahora pues, yo he determinado hacer alianza con Jehová el Dios de Israel, para que aparte de nosotros la ira de su furor.
11Hijos míos, no os engañéis ahora, porque Jehová os ha escogido á vosotros para que estéis delante de él, y le sirváis, y seáis sus ministros, y le queméis perfume.
12Entonces los Levitas se levantaron, Mahath hijo de Amasai, y Joel hijo de Azarías, de los hijos de Coath; y de los hijos de Merari, Cis hijo de Abdi, y Azarías hijo de Jehaleleel; y de los hijos de Gersón, Joah hijo de Zimma, y Edén hijo de Joah;
13Y de los hijos de Elisaphán, Simri y Jehiel; y de los hijos de Asaph, Zachârías y Mathanías;
14Y de los hijos de Hemán, Jehiel y Simi; y de los hijos de Jeduthún, Semeías y Uzziel.
15Estos juntaron á sus hermanos, y santificáronse, y entraron, conforme al mandamiento del rey y las palabras de Jehová, para limpiar la casa de Jehová.
16Y entrando los sacerdotes dentro de la casa de Jehová para limpiarla, sacaron toda la inmundicia que hallaron en el templo de Jehová, al atrio de la casa de Jehová; la cual tomaron los Levitas, para sacarla fuera al torrente de Cedrón.
17Y comenzaron á santificar el primero del mes primero, y á los ocho del mismo mes vinieron al pórtico de Jehová: y santificaron la casa de Jehová en ocho días, y en el dieciséis del mes primero acabaron.
18Luego pasaron al rey Ezechîas, y dijéronle: Ya hemos limpiado toda la casa de Jehová, el altar del holocausto, y todos sus instrumentos, y la mesa de la proposición con todos sus utensilios.
19Asimismo hemos preparado y santificado todos los vasos que en su prevaricación había maltratado el rey Achâz, cuando reinaba: y he aquí están delante del altar de Jehová.
20Y levantándose de mañana el rey Ezechîas reunió los principales de la ciudad, y subió á la casa de Jehová.
21Y presentaron siete novillos, siete carneros, siete corderos, y siete machos de cabrío, para expiación por el reino, por el santuario y por Judá. Y dijo á los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que los ofreciesen sobre el altar de Jehová.
22Mataron pues los bueyes, y los sacerdotes tomaron la sangre, y esparciéronla sobre el altar; mataron luego los carneros, y esparcieron la sangre sobre el altar; asimismo mataron los corderos, y esparcieron la sangre sobre el altar.
23Hicieron después llegar los machos cabríos de la expiación delante del rey y de la multitud, y pusieron sobre ellos sus manos:
24Y los sacerdotes los mataron, y expiando esparcieron la sangre de ellos sobre el altar, para reconciliar á todo Israel: porque por todo Israel mandó el rey hacer el holocausto y la expiación.
25Puso también Levitas en la casa de Jehová con címbalos, y salterios, y arpas, conforme al mandamiento de David, y de Gad vidente del rey, y de Nathán profeta: porque aquel mandamiento fué por mano de Jehová, por mano de sus profetas.
26Y los Levitas estaban con los instrumentos de David, y los sacerdotes con trompetas.
27Entonces mandó Ezechîas sacrificar el holocausto en el altar; y al tiempo que comenzó el holocausto, comenzó también el cántico de Jehová, con las trompetas y los instrumentos de David rey de Israel.
28Y toda la multitud adoraba, y los cantores cantaban, y los trompetas sonaban las trompetas; todo hasta acabarse el holocausto.
29Y como acabaron de ofrecer, inclinóse el rey, y todos los que con él estaban, y adoraron.
30Entonces el rey Ezechîas y los príncipes dijeron á los Levitas que alabasen á Jehová por las palabras de David y de Asaph vidente: y ellos alabaron con grande alegría, é inclinándose adoraron.
31Y respondiendo Ezechîas dijo: Vosotros os habéis consagrado ahora á Jehová; llegaos pues, y presentad sacrificios y alabanzas en la casa de Jehová. Y la multitud presentó sacrificios y alabanzas; y todo liberal de corazón, holocaustos.
32Y fué el número de los holocaustos que trajo la congregación, setenta bueyes, cien carneros, doscientos corderos; todo para el holocausto de Jehová.
33Y las ofrendas fueron seiscientos bueyes, y tres mil ovejas.
34Mas los sacerdotes eran pocos, y no podían bastar á desollar los holocaustos; y así sus hermanos los Levitas les ayudaron hasta que acabaron la obra, y hasta que los sacerdotes se santificaron: porque los Levitas tuvieron mayor prontitud de corazón para santificarse, que los sacerdotes.
35Así pues hubo gran multitud de holocaustos, con sebos de pacíficos, y libaciones de cada holocausto. Y quedó ordenado el servicio de la casa de Jehová.
36Y alegróse Ezechîas, y todo el pueblo, de que Dios hubiese preparado el pueblo; porque la cosa fué prestamente hecha.

1Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.
2And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.
3He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.
4And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,
5And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.
6For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs.
7Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.
8Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
9For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
10Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.
11My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.
12Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:

16And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.
17Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
18Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.
19Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.
20Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.
21And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD.
22So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.
23And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:
24And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.
25And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.
26And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
27And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.
28And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.
29And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.
30Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.
31Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.
32And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD.
33And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.
34But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.
35And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.
36And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

1Hezekiah began to reign when he was twenty-five years old, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

3In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the LORD’s house and repaired them.

5and said to them, “Listen to me, you Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD, the God of your fathers, and carry the filthiness out of the holy place.
6For our fathers were unfaithful, and have done that which was evil in the LORD our God’s sight, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs.
7Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel.
8Therefore the LORD’s wrath was on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has delivered them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment and a hissing, as you see with your eyes.

10Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us.

34But the priests were too few, so that they could not skin all the burnt offerings. Therefore their brothers the Levites helped them until the work was ended, and until the priests had sanctified themselves, for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.
