1Et Josaphat reposa à côté de ses pères et reçut la sépulture auprès de ses pères dans la Cité de David, et Joram, son fils, devint roi en sa place.
2Et Joram avait des frères, fils de Josaphat : Azaria et Jehiel, et Zacharie et Azarie et Michaël et Sephatia, tout autant de fils de Josaphat, roi d'Israël.
3Et leur père leur avait fait des dotations considérables en argent et en or et en objets de prix, et en même temps en villes fortes de Juda ; mais il donna la royauté à Joram, parce que celui-ci était le premier-né.
4Joram fut donc élevé à la souveraineté de son père ; et lorsqu'il se fut affermi, il fit périr tous ses frères par l'épée et quelques-uns aussi des Chefs d'Israël.
5Joram avait trente-deux ans à son avènement, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
6Et il marcha sur les errements des rois d'Israël, suivant l'exemple donné par la maison d'Achab ; car il avait pour femme une fille d'Achab ; et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel.
7Cependant l'Éternel ne voulut pas ruiner la maison de David, et cela en considération de l'alliance qu'il avait accordée à David et de la promesse qu'il lui avait faite de laisser luire dans tous les temps un flambeau pour lui et ses fils.
8Au temps de Joram, Édom se rebella contre la domination de Juda, et ils établirent un roi au-dessus d'eux.
9Alors Joram passa la frontière avec ses généraux, et ayant tous les chars avec lui ; et il se leva pendant la nuit et battit les Édomites qui l'avaient cerné, et les commandants des chars.
10Néanmoins Édom réussit à se soustraire à la domination de Juda jusqu'aujourd'hui. Alors, dans le même temps Libna se rebella contre sa domination, parce qu'il avait abandonné l'Éternel, Dieu de ses pères.
11Lui aussi éleva des tertres dans les montagnes de Juda et débaucha les habitants de Jérusalem, et fut le séducteur de Juda.
12Et il lui vint une lettre d'Élie, le prophète, portant : Ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu de David, ton père : Puisque tu n'as pas marché sur les errements de Josaphat, ton père, et sur les errements d'Asa, roi de Juda,
13mais que tu as marché sur les errements des rois d'Israël, et débauché Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem, comme débauche la maison d'Achab, et que tu as aussi fait périr tes frères, maison de ton père, meilleure que toi ;
14voici, l'Éternel frappera d'une grande plaie ton peuple et tes fils et tes femmes et toute ta fortune,
15et tu souffriras, d'époque en époque, de grandes douleurs par l'effet d'une maladie de tes entrailles qui finiront par sortir ensuite de la maladie.
16En conséquence l'Éternel éveilla contre Joram l'animosité des Philistins et des Arabes confinant aux Éthiopiens.
17Et ils s'avancèrent contre Juda, et ils y ouvrirent la brèche, et ils emportèrent toute la propriété qui se trouvait dans le palais du roi, et aussi ses fils et ses femmes, de sorte qu'il ne lui resta de fils que Joachaz, le cadet de ses fils.
18Et après tout cela l'Éternel le frappa aux entrailles d'une maladie incurable ;
19et elle suivit ses époques, et au bout de deux périodes ses entrailles sortirent, dans sa maladie ; et il mourut dans des douleurs poignantes ; et son peuple ne fit pas pour lui une combustion pareille à la combustion de ses pères.
20Il avait trente-deux ans à son avènement et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem. Et il s'en alla sans être regretté ; et on lui donna la sépulture dans la Cité de David, mais non dans les tombeaux des rois.

1Y DURMIÓ Josaphat con sus padres, y sepultáronlo con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram su hijo.
2Este tuvo hermanos, hijos de Josaphat, á Azarías, Jehiel, Zachârías, Azarías, Michâel, y Sephatías. Todos estos fueron hijos de Josaphat rey de Israel.
3Y su padre les había dado muchos dones de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fuertes en Judá; mas había dado el reino á Joram, porque él era el primogénito.
4Fué pues elevado Joram al reino de su padre; y luego que se hizo fuerte, mató á cuchillo á todos sus hermanos, y asimismo algunos de los príncipes de Israel.
5Cuando comenzó á reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalem.
6Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Achâb; porque tenía por mujer la hija de Achâb, é hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová.
7Mas Jehová no quiso destruir la casa de David, á causa de la alianza que con David había hecho, y porque le había dicho que le daría lámpara á él y á sus hijos perpetuamente.
8En los días de éste se rebeló la Idumea, para no estar bajo el poder de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.
9Entonces pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y consigo todos sus carros; y levantóse de noche, é hirió á los Idumeos que le habían cercado, y á todos los comandantes de sus carros.
10Con todo eso Edom quedó rebelado, sin estar bajo la mano de Judá hasta hoy. También se rebeló en el mismo tiempo Libna para no estar bajo su mano; por cuanto él había dejado á Jehová el Dios de sus padres.
11Demás de esto hizo altos en los montes de Judá, é hizo que los moradores de Jerusalem fornicasen, y á ello impelió á Judá.
12Y viniéronle letras del profeta Elías, que decían: Jehová, el Dios de David tu padre, ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josaphat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá,
13Antes has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que fornicase Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalem, como fornicó la casa de Achâb; y además has muerto á tus hermanos, á la familia de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú:
14He aquí Jehová herirá tu pueblo de una grande plaga, y á tus hijos y á tus mujeres, y á toda tu hacienda;
15Y á ti con muchas enfermedades, con enfermedad de tus entrañas, hasta que las entrañas se te salgan á causa de la enfermedad de cada día.
16Entonces despertó Jehová contra Joram el espíritu de los Filisteos, y de los Arabes que estaban junto á los Etiopes;
17Y subieron contra Judá, é invadieron la tierra, y tomaron toda la hacienda que hallaron en la casa del rey, y á sus hijos, y á sus mujeres; que no le quedó hijo, sino Joachâz el menor de sus hijos.
18Después de todo esto Jehová lo hirió en las entrañas de una enfermedad incurable.
19Y aconteció que, pasando un día tras otro, al fin, al cabo de dos años, las entrañas se le salieron con la enfermedad, muriendo así de enfermedad muy penosa. Y no le hizo quema su pueblo, como las había hecho á sus padres.
20Cuando comenzó á reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó en Jerusalem ocho años; y fuése sin ser deseado. Y sepultáronlo en la ciudad de David, mas no en los sepulcros de los reyes.

1Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
2And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
3And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.
4Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.
5Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
6And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.
7Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
8In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.
9Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.
10So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.
11Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.
12And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
13But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father’s house, which were better than thyself:
14Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:
15And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.
16Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:
17And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
18And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
19And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.
20Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.

12A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “the LORD, the God of David your father, says, ‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
13but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the prostitute like Ahab’s house did, and also have slain your brothers of your father’s house, who were better than yourself,
14behold, the LORD will strike your people with a great plague, including your children, your wives, and all your possessions;
15and you will have great sickness with a disease of your bowels, until your bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.’”
16The LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians who are beside the Ethiopians;
17and they came up against Judah, broke into it, and carried away all the possessions that were found in the king’s house, including his sons and his wives, so that there was no son left to him except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
18After all this the LORD struck him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
