1El año treinta y seis del reinado de Asá, subió Baasá, rey de Israel, contra Judá, y fortificó a Ramá, para impedir la salida y entrada a (la gente de) Asá, rey de Judá.
2Entonces sacó Asá plata y oro de los tesoros de la Casa de Yahvé y de la casa real, y envió mensajeros a Benhadad, rey de Siria, que habitaba en Damasco, para que le dijesen:
3“Haya alianza entre mí y ti, como la hubo entre mi padre y tu padre. Te envío plata y oro; ven, rompe tu alianza con Baasá, rey de Israel, para que se retire de mí.
4Benhadad accedió al pedido del rey Asá y envió a los jefes de sus tropas contra las ciudades de Israel; y ellos derrotaron a Iyón, Dan, Abelmaim y todas las ciudades de provisiones situadas en Neftalí.
5Cuando Baasá lo supo, desistió de fortificar a Ramá, suspendiendo su obra.
6Entonces el rey Asá movilizó a todo Judá, y se llevaron de Ramá las piedras y las maderas que Baasá había empleado para la construcción; y con ellas edificó a Gabaá y a Masfá.
7En aquel tiempo el vidente Hananí llegó a Asá rey de Judá, y le dijo: “Por cuanto te has apoyado en el rey de Siria, y no pusiste tu confianza en Yahvé, se ha escapado de tu mano el ejército del rey de Siria.
8¿No eran un ejército inmenso los etíopes y los libios, con carros y jinetes numerosísimos? Y sin embargo, por haber puesto tu confianza en Yahvé, Él los entregó en tu mano.
9Porque los ojos de Yahvé recorren toda la tierra, para defender a aquellos cuyos corazones ponen toda su confianza en Él. Has procedido neciamente a este respecto, y por eso de aquí en adelante tendrás guerra.”
10Entonces Asá se irritó contra el vidente y lo metió en la cárcel, porque estaba enojado con él por este asunto. En ese tiempo maltrató Asá también a varios del pueblo.
11He aquí que los hechos de Asá, los primeros y los postreros, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.
12El año treinta y nueve de su reinado enfermó Asá de los pies, hasta el punto de sufrir muchísimo, pero a pesar de su enfermedad no buscó a Yahvé, sino a los médicos.
13Asá se durmió con sus padres. Murió el año cuarenta y uno de su reinado,
14y le sepultaron en el sepulcro que se había hecho en la ciudad de David. Lo pusieron sobre un lecho lleno de aromas y de muchas clases de ungüentos preparados según el arte de los perfumistas; y encendieron en su honor un enorme fuego.

1EN el año treinta y seis del reinado de Asa, subió Baasa rey de Israel contra Judá, y edificó á Rama, para no dejar salir ni entrar á ninguno al rey Asa, rey de Judá.
2Entonces sacó Asa la plata y el oro de los tesoros de la casa de Jehová y de la casa real, y envió á Ben-adad rey de Siria, que estaba en Damasco, diciendo:
3Haya alianza entre mí y ti, como la hubo entre mi padre y tu padre; he aquí yo te he enviado plata y oro, para que vengas y deshagas la alianza que tienes con Baasa rey de Israel, á fin de que se retire de mí.
4Y consintió Ben-adad con el rey Asa, y envió los capitanes de sus ejércitos á la ciudades de Israel: y batieron á Ion, Dan, y Abel-maim, y las ciudades fuertes de Nephtalí.
5Y oyendo esto Baasa, cesó de edificar á Rama, y dejó su obra.
6Entonces el rey Asa tomó á todo Judá, y lleváronse de Rama la piedra y madera con que Baasa edificaba, y con ella edificó á Gibaa y Mizpa.
7En aquel tiempo vino Hanani vidente á Asa rey de Judá, y díjole: Por cuanto te has apoyado en el rey de Siria, y no te apoyaste en Jehová tu Dios, por eso el ejército del rey de Siria ha escapado de tus manos.
8Los Etiopes y los Libios, ¿no eran un ejército numerosísimo, con carros y muy mucha gente de á caballo? con todo, porque te apoyaste en Jehová, él los entregó en tus manos.
9Porque los ojos de Jehová contemplan toda la tierra, para corroborar á los que tienen corazón perfecto para con él. Locamente has hecho en esto; porque de aquí adelante habrá guerra contra ti.
10Y enojado Asa contra el vidente, echólo en la casa de la cárcel, porque fué en extremo conmovido á causa de esto. Y oprimió Asa en aquel tiempo algunos del pueblo.
11Mas he aquí, los hechos de Asa, primeros y postreros, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.
12Y el año treinta y nueve de su reinado enfermó Asa de los pies para arriba, y en su enfermedad no buscó á Jehová, sino á los médicos.
13Y durmió Asa con sus padres, y murió en el año cuarenta y uno de su reinado.
14Y sepultáronlo en sus sepulcros que él había hecho para sí en la ciudad de David; Y pusiéronlo en una litera, la cual hinchieron de aromas y diversas materias odoríferas, preparadas por obra de perfumadores; é hiciéronle una quema muy grande.

1In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
2Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben-hadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
3There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
4And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.
5And it came to pass, when Baasha heard it, that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.
6Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha was building; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.
7And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.
8Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand.
9For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
10Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.
11And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
12And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.
13And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.
14And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries’ art: and they made a very great burning for him.

1In the thirty-sixth year of Asa’s reign, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not allow anyone to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
2Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the LORD’s house and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben Hadad king of Syria, who lived at Damascus, saying,
3“Let there be a treaty between me and you, as there was between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold. Go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.”
4Ben Hadad listened to King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they struck Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.
5When Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramah, and let his work cease.
6Then Asa the king took all Judah, and they carried away the stones and timber of Ramah, with which Baasha had built; and he built Geba and Mizpah with them.
7At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him, “Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped out of your hand.
8Weren’t the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge army, with chariots and exceedingly many horsemen? Yet, because you relied on the LORD, he delivered them into your hand.
9For the LORD’s eyes run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. You have done foolishly in this; for from now on you will have wars.”
10Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in the prison; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.
11Behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
12In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa was diseased in his feet. His disease was exceedingly great; yet in his disease he didn’t seek the LORD, but just the physicians.
13Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the forty-first year of his reign.
14They buried him in his own tomb, which he had dug out for himself in David’s city, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and various kinds of spices prepared by the perfumers’ art; and they made a very great fire for him.
